Four different teenager's lives are changed forever when a murder is committed at their school, and the murderer is on the loose. Together, they learn that a long time ago, a science experiment at the local university went horribly wrong, causing the making of a disease that spreads through physical touch, and makes a person mentally unstable. When the test subject escaped the confinement of the university, he infected four people, and these four teenagers are the direct ancestors of the four people. While the rest of mankind soon grew immune to the disease these four couldn't. They also learn that the murderer was one of them, a Player (people who aren't immune to the disease) and was infected by a Tagger (people who spread the disease) and now, they must run for their lives. It's a game of tag across the country.
