B A C K G R O U N D

A long time ago when the continent of Troia was simply a forest wasteland, the human race was a speck in between millions of species. Flora and fauna flourished throughout, along with the mythical creatures who lived in comfort. For many centuries, both the human race and the mythical creatures lived together in harmony. However, that all changed many years later.

As time went by, humans began to realize the reality of how powerless they were. They began to acknowledge that the creatures could destroy them at any minute. They had both raw power and strength that the humans could only imagine to understand, whereas the humans themselves had nothing but their bare backs and little magic ability which they had no idea how to use.

It wasn't until a man named Alexandrius Laxus started to use that fear as a way to gain power. He began grouping the humans together and took advantage of the humans’ fear and doubts by declaring that all the creatures were vile and menacing. Alexandrius proposed the idea of taking what should be rightfully theirs and introduced the concept of slayers. People who decided to be hunters, instead of being hunted. The humans soon began to rebel against the creatures, killing them off one by one through invasion.

However, there were some people who didn't agree with Alexandrius' ways. Those people became known as the guardians of the creatures, or rather, the whisperers. They were led by a woman named Silika Yei, who argued that there was so much more to learn from the beasts and that they were more than mindless monsters who sought to destroy the human race. They took time to observe them and during this time, they began to befriend some of the creatures and discovered that they contained their own intellect, even learning special magic abilities from the creatures that they could never have discovered on their own.

Despite Silika’s argument, the human race steadily grew through Alexandrius’ efforts, and it was only a matter of time before the minority of the races quickly became the majority. The creatures were pushed back to take refuge from them, with humans beginning to create kingdoms, towns, and other settlements all across the land. As magic began to develop through these changes, it soon became a necessity and an additional way for them to defend themselves.

And so, here we are today. Alexandrius and Silika are now gone, but the tension is still here. Slayers and whisperers are becoming enemies, and the well-being of the mythical creatures is being questioned.

The world is slowly slipping apart, but who will survive? The slayers or the whisperers? The results will be in your hands.

Which side will you take?

Slayers and Whisperers

Whisperers

Whisperers are people who are skilled in being able to tame and train a specific beast, usually by body language and gentle vocal encouragement rather than physical force. They tend to find the more compassionate side of the creatures and try to protect them at all costs. Not all whisperers are "good" though. Some whisperers tend to abuse their powers and make the creatures their slaves in exchange for protection from the slayers. Whisperers are also known as guardians of the creatures, and there are many guardians who are talented at taming specific beasts.

Slayers

Slayers are people who are the opposite. Instead of trying to protect the creatures, their job is to extinguish them, whether by choice or by order. There are many guilds that are usually for slayers, and the usual routine is to kill a beast that the townsfolk has requested, and they'll be paid. Usually, slayers take the valuable parts of a beast after they're killed and take them to sell or auction for high prices. Slayers are usually driven to kill because of a dark past, revenge, survival, greed, etc. Not all slayers are as brute as they sound, in fact, some may have a hard time trying to kill and may convert to a normal life.

Mythical Creatures

Mythical Creatures:

The mythical creatures are the animals that roam the lands. They were once free, but now they have been secluded in different parts of the world in order to hide from the slayers that try to pursue them. They have little to no trust in the humans anymore, except for the whisperers, however, it takes a lot to convince them. Mythical creatures consider all kinds and types, such as kitsunes, phoenixes, manticores, unicorns, dragons, demons, all you can think of. They are classified into different levels:

Gamma

Gamma creatures are common and are typically considered a mild annoyance at most. They're mostly harmless, so they're not targeted as much. Gamma creatures include imps, pixies, and sprites. Although they do possess some form of magic power, it's usually small and doesn't do much damage.

Sprites (Water)

Fairies (Light)

Wisps (Fire)

Beta

Betas are creatures that are able to fight on their own and are much stronger than Gamma. They have their own special abilities and are able to conjure up magic power on their own. They're also the most common. Beta creatures are usually targeted by the average slayer and include unicorns, mermaids, trolls, goblins, elves, minotaurs, et

Alpha creatures are extremely rare and typically pursued by high-class slayers. It takes an especially talented whisperer to be able to tame an alpha creature by themselves. They hold a large amount of power and are usually hidden in places where people normally wouldn't go, such as the bottom of the sea, the highest mountain top, dense forests, inside of a volcano, etc. They are very difficult to slay and capture. Alpha creatures include dragons, demons, phoenixes, kitsunes, manticores, and more.

Guilds and Clans

Guilds

Guilds are places where slayers gather and find work. The process is simple: they fill out a request and get paid. Most guilds usually pursue different kinds of creatures and are more skilled in one department than another. Guilds include Ethrel Soul, Luminesque, and Narcos. Unlike clans, guilds are always established in big kingdoms.

Ethrel Soul

Ethrel Soul is a highly regarded guild that is well known by many people. Most of their members are exceptionally skilled and are said to be the guild with the highest kills count. They specialize in killing creatures that are fire and earth-based, and its guild members are "warrior" based, typically carrying swords, shields, wearing armor, etc that are infused with power enhancement magic. It was the first guild to be built and was originally led by Alexandrius himself until he passed away.

Luminesque

The Luminesque guild is one that emphasizes knowledge. It's believed that they hold the largest number of scholars, and usually tend to rely more on magic rather than weapons. They specialize in air and water-based creatures, and most of the slayers are mages. Because of their large knowledge about magic itself, members are usually sent to other guilds to collaborate with them on missions.

Narcos

The Narcos guild is very mysterious and usually keeps out of the public eye. They are rumored to be well specialized with light and dark based creatures, but all that's known for certain is that their headquarters are located in the Kingdom of Viridium. Access to the headquarters is extremely limited to the public, and very few members reveal themselves. However, it is rumored that most of the members in the Narcos guild build their own magic weaponry and distribute them to other guilds.

Clans

Clans are basically guilds for whisperers. There are many clans globally all across the world, but the main three that are known are Sonoros, Usynthos, and Aeris. Unlike guilds, clans are more nomadic. They only meet together once a month to report any findings in the areas that they’re in charge of, and after that, each member is free to wander off to wherever they want to go.

Sonoros

The Sonoros clan consists of people who typically live in high mountain areas, lakes, or oceans. They specialize in communicating with dark and water-based creatures much better than any other clans. Sonoros clan members can be distinguished by a tribal tattoo that resembles a dove on their hand. It is also said that Sonoros was the original clan that Silika Yei established.

Usynthos

The Usynthos clan mainly lives in the tropics and desert and they specialize in fire and light-based creatures. Out of all the clans, they're the ones who are most skilled in magic and are distinguished by a tattoo that resembles a turtle, typically placed on their shoulder blade.

Aeris

The Aeris clan are found living either in dense forests or open plains, specializing in creatures based on air and earth. They are distinguished by a tattoo that resembles the sun, typically placed on their chest.
Magic and Elements
Magic is elemental based, and the main six elements of Troia are:
fire
water
earth
air
light
dark

Every creature and human is naturally imbued with one type of magic, meaning no one can hold two or more elements. There are some creatures whose element type can vary depending on their habitat (for example: ice type dragons in the snowy mountains, dark type goblins living in barren wastelands) but other than that, every being is born with a type that's firmly established. Aside from basic magic usage, humans and creatures are able to conjure a special ability that's unique to themselves based on their natural elements. This unique ability becomes more established as their specialty while they grow their magical potential.

Kingdom of Drakengardh:
As the first and oldest kingdom, the Kingdom of Drakengardh is considered to be the capital kingdom of Troia. It is said to be the first settlement established by Alexandrius Laxus and the capital kingdom symbolizes his strength through the heavy imagery of dragons. Here you can find the guild headquarters of Ethrel Soul whose members are celebrated as heroes by the locals and it's not uncommon to see multitudes of slayers walking about. Many nobles also reside in this kingdom and are willing to spend more money than most when it comes to hiring slayers. Thus, you can see slayers from all walks of life coming here to make a huge buck and try to make it big. Drakengardh is surrounded by many dense forests, and if you travel up north you'll be heading towards snowy mountainous areas. The weather is usually pleasant, but hail and snow make an occasional appearance from time to time.

Kingdom of Krystadya:
The Kingdom of Krystadya is the second oldest kingdom in Troia. It's a kingdom discovered by an old scholar who went by the name of Azmireth, and it was said that he assisted Alexandrius Laxus multiple times throughout his journey. Here in Krystadya, magic is the basis of everything. You can find scholars studying different magical techniques, engineers developing different magical weapons, and there is even a market for people to buy medicine or magic tools such as fire orbs that cause explosions or air orbs that can allow you to breathe underwater for a few minutes. Beware of scammers though, for it's easy to trick non-magic users especially if they've never had any true experience with magic before. Krystadya is close to deserts and open plains, and mostly has dry weather throughout the year. The guild, Luminesque, is also established here.

Kingdom of Viridium:
Despite being on another island away from the main continent, the Kingdom of Viridium is a bustling trade city that allows itself to be self-sustainable. The island that it's settled on contains many rare resources that most kingdoms on the main continent wouldn't be able to acquire. Through trading these resources, the Kingdom of Viridium has been able to make a name for itself and be established as one of the four powerhouses. In return for exporting its rare resources, the other kingdoms import new technology and other basic necessities that Viridium wouldn't necessarily be able to gather on their own. It is rumored that there's a black market on the outskirts of the kingdom that contains traded parts of mythical creatures, but it's hard to decipher whether those rumors are true. The Narcos guild is located here as well.

Kingdom of Xyberion:
Xyberion is the smallest kingdom among the four and is considered to be the main kingdom for Whisperers. Settled on the southern islands, the kingdom takes advantage of its tropical weather and makes its profits through tourism. Here you can relax away on beaches, discover paths to nearby idle volcanos, and be amazed by the mythical creatures who are all trained by the kingdom's whisperers. Although it seems like a paradise, it's rumored that there's been conflict rumbling among the locals regarding the well-being of the mythical creatures and whether it's ethical or not to keep parading them around for profit. One side argues that it goes against what Whisperers stand for while the other side argues that it is a necessity to have the kingdom prosper and that it shouldn't be an issue so long as the creatures are well taken care of. The Kingdom of Xyberion is also where the main three clans meet for important events or discussions.

Rozemer City:

Though not a kingdom, Rozemer City is considered to be powerful enough to have its own territorial right as it is the largest port city in Troia. The city is established as a huge seaside hub and takes responsibility for distributing all ocean trade to the rest of the four kingdoms. Because of its pivotal role to the others, Rozemer City has announced itself to be a neutral territory. Any assaults, attacks, or other discourse that are based on someone's occupation of being a slayer or a whisperer are prohibited. The city typically experiences either sunny or rainy weather. Being by the sea, the rain can have different levels of intensity but it's hard to predict since the weather switches so often.

Kingdom of Drakengardh - King Julius Oberon Drakonius IV - 56
King Julius IV is the 7th and current king of Drakengardh. He was born as part of the Drakonius royal family, who are descendants of Alexandrius Laxus. The king rules his kingdom with an iron fist and takes it upon himself to carry on his ancestors' ideals. As such, he is the most close-minded out of the four rulers and also the most ruthless. Every action of his is never delivered with hesitation, and he will always find a way to make things difficult if the outcome is not as he desires. However, it is through this unwavering strength that he is able to build Drakengardh into the large affluent city it is today and will continue to lead it towards prosperity through any means possible.

    Occupation: Slayer
    Elemental Magic: Light
Magic Ability: Lightning Speed - Gathers electricity and charges himself with it, increasing his speed and agility immensely.

1650274186137.png Kingdom of Krystadya - Queen Krystalise von Byuren - 42
Queen Krystalise is the current ruler of Krystadya as well as one of the most advanced mages in Troia. She is very protective of her kingdom, especially over its innovations, and avoids entering any kind of dispute that would cause disruption in any way. As such, the queen is considered to be wise and extremely calculative. She prioritizes her kingdom and its citizens above any other means, and so she will always choose the path that serves them best. Queen Krystalise views her kingdom as her sole purpose and will do everything to ensure that it continues to live on in peace.

    Occupation: Slayer
    Elemental Magic: Water
Magic Ability: Aquatic Whiplash - Draws water from any kind of liquid source and forms them into long whips that attach to her limbs that she can thrash around, similar to tentacles.

Kingdom of Xyberion - King Hussain Faez - 251650276108598.png
Being crowned at the mere age of 20, King Hussain is by far the youngest ruler who has ever been appointed as its sole country's leader. He is free-spirited and seems to take issues lightly, which causes many people to underestimate him, even his own peers. However what many people do not understand is that Hussain is not carefree, but rather he is calm. He doesn't react to things negatively, even taking criticism and threats in stride. What Hussain values most is the freedom of his people. Although Xyberion is under his rule as a kingdom, he values the opinions of his citizens and allows their voices to be heard in governmental affairs. He takes their concerns into consideration and finds ways to balance them with what he thinks is best. As a result, many of his citizens are happy (or at least satisfied) under his rule as king despite his young age. Though he has only been appointed king for five years, there is no doubt that his influence has brought the Kingdom of Xyberion to a whole other level in terms of stability.

    Occupation: Whisperer
    Elemental Magic: Air
Magic Ability: Air Crystallization - manipulates the pressure of air molecules to create solidified platforms that he can use as barricades or steps to stay afloat

1650279057136.png Kingdom of Viridium - King Victor Xiuqiang Armadeus - 36
King Victor is the current ruler of Viridium, and by far the one who is known about the least. If you ask anyone about his background, they wouldn't be able to give you a definite answer except only rumors and guesses. One thing for certain about him though is that he is largely driven by money and wealth. He is greatly knowledgeable about business and economics, which was proven immeasurable as he singlehandedly changed the kingdom's economy after he was appointed king. Victor was the one who brought out the small island kingdom's large potential through his knowledge of business management, trade routes, and natural sense of resourcefulness. Though it's unclear whether or not his motives are to better Viridium or his wealth, it's undeniable that he is a proper king for his subjects.

    Occupation: Slayer
    Elemental Magic: Earth
Magic Ability: Metal Morphosis - Bends any type of metal that he physically touches and transforms it into a handheld weapon of his choice. He typically uses this with four rings that adorn his left hand: steel, silver, gold, and titanium.

1650280504862.pngRozemer City - Republic of Rozemer
Rather than having a monarchy, Rozemer City operates under the form of a republic. The republic consists of seven chosen representatives who represent the seven districts that the city is divided into. They come together on the last Sunday of each month to discuss the city and its issues, abiding by a Constitution that focuses on the well-being and neutrality of the city. Each member serves an 8-year term and can only be re-elected once.

Each kingdom has a common request board where citizens or travelers who are seeking the help of a slayer's guild can put in their requests on a form that states the location, reward amount, and issue. The request board is a magical innovation created by Krystadya that is powered by light magic. It uses channels of light energy that connect to each guild's own request boards.

The guilds will see this:
- Any request form that is open to any guild (aka fair game to all the guilds)
- Any request form that requests the help of their own specific guild.

So if someone wanted to request help from the Narcos guild and put it up on the community request board, that request will only show up on Narcos' request board. If they put up a request that is open to any guild members, then that request will show up on all three of the guilds' request boards, including Narcos.

If a request has been taken but has not been fulfilled yet, there will be a red X on the request form to show that someone has taken it and their request is a work in progress. If the slayer fails to fulfill the request, then the X will be removed and anybody can take it on again. If the slayer succeeds, then the request form will disappear from all of the boards and the requester will be notified. Typically the requester will go to the guild's headquarters to grant their reward.

Requests are allowed to stay up for two weeks, but people are allowed to repost their requests again if the issue has not been solved.

Contrary to the high-tech power of guilds, clans operate in a more traditional way. Because clans work independently even within themselves, they contact each other
through trained birds who regularly patrol the skies in search of creatures who are in danger.

These birds can be contacted with a specific whistle tone that is distinctive for each clan, and each member is required to learn their clan's respective whistle.

Every clan uses a different breed of birds in order to distinguish themselves:
- Sonoros uses doves
- Usynthos uses crows
- Aeris uses pigeons

If a bird notices a dangerous situation, it will fly to the nearest member who is available. When birds notify members of a potential mission, they'll circle around the member twice as a signal to notify them that something is out there. The birds will then fly ahead to lead the whisperers to where the mission is taking place, and it's up to the member to save the creatures from there.

This multinational company was formed from a merger between Delta Newspapers and Epsilon Publishing House and is known for a multitude of fiction and non-fiction publications that span the entire continent. Depending on the particular periodical, their repute in the public eye may be on a spectrum from the standard of truth to less factual than hearsay from a barber’s aunt. With branches in every mid- and large-sized city, the publishing house disseminates the popular Delta Days newspaper and titles for all ages through its own stores.

With the old Epsilon Publishing House dominating northern Troia due to being based in Drakengardh and Delta Newspapers’ headquarters located in Rozemer City, the motivation behind the combined enterprises has always been thought to be the extension of market reach and entry into new industries. Rare is it that a mundane shopper knows the actual truth behind the merger, that being the business marriage of the owners’ children. To intimate confidantes of the two families, it is clear that the relationship between the youths is rocky at best, so while the business is going swimmingly, the future of the company is still up in the air.

Background: The Reaper's Kiss was founded roughly years after Alexandrius rose to power. Working for both sides, the Reapers grew rich off of suffering. Smuggling both mythical creatures in and assassinating them out, the organization thrived on chaos and pain. At first, it was only Loreley, the rumored first Reaper of the organization, an assassin that was a wronged Whisperer with a dead bondmate. After her bondmate's death, Loreley simply faded from the world...and was reborn years later as the Reaper of Drakengardh. Her trademarks being a bloodied rose and a scythe, one of life and one of death. The organization's name and reputation rose from this legend. Loreley aligned herself with no one, hating Whisperers for her bondmate's death and hating Slayers for their work. Instead, she fought for the highest bidder, using her powers to entrance mythical creatures long enough to go for the kill, or to capture them and sell them off upon the black markets. She fought for no one but herself, and her followers did so too. The Reaper's Kiss attracted vengeful souls and wronged assassins, exiles of the highest order. Any job the organization would take, as long as pay was included of course.

Location: All over Troia

Purpose/operations: Anything really, but specializes in assassinations and spying. A lot of smuggling in there too.

Any notable people: The current "head" of the organization has the title of the Executioner. Their name and gender is unknown.

CORVUS is a black market organization originating from the outskirts of the Kingdom of Viridium. It's also where their main headquarter is located. CORVUS is regarded as a rising star in the illicit industry, gradually expanding its businesses and networks all over Troia's hidden markets. The enterprise mostly profits off illegal tradings of mythological creatures with both Whisperers who are looking for new companions and Slayers who are looking for an easy way out of their commissions. CORVUS is also involved in the poison and traps industry, mainly concocting and developing items that paralyze or incapacitate targets. It goes without saying that they also cater their wares to assassins, spies, bounty hunters, and virtually anyone who possesses enough coins.

CORVUS' loyalty lies in neither the factions nor kingdoms, but to the company and its profits. The organization is linked with numerous cases about missing mythical companions, resulting in them being depicted as some sort of a boogeyman among the Whisperer community.

Notable Members:
Its members are generally referred to as the Chorus while significant individuals are given avian-inspired codenames.

RAVEN - Raven is the alias of the elusive leader and foundress of the organization. As of the moment, she has a high bounty on her head placed by authorities all over Troia. Nonetheless, her true identity as Zabyne Dustsorrow is only known by a small number of confidants. She is known to be a hard-hearted and rapacious individual among the members. ( . D O V E .
