It seems you've stumbled upon our role-play. Sword Art Online: Tales of Aincrad is a hosted project, run by our three GM's of whom you can contact if you have any questions. If you've ever heard of SAO, then good for you! Just click the Journal picture near the bottom of the page to proceed with making your character and joining the fun! THE STORY
Sword Art Online is a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, created by Akihiko Kayaba that was released in 2022, utilizing the technology known as Nerve Gear. The Nerve Gear is a virtual reality helmet that was created and used to stimulate the users five senses. The game goes live November 6th, 2022. The players, logging in for the first time, soon discover that they’re unable to log back out. The Players are then informed by Akihiko Kayaba that in order to leave the game they will have to ascend Aincrad floor by floor until they reach the 100th and final floor and beat the final boss. But it comes with a catch. If you die in the game, the nerve gear will fry your brain, and your real body will die with it...
THE SYSTEM
MAIN: Unlike most RPs you see, SAO:TOA will lack a main story, but rather it will be as open world and self sustaining as we can make it. The only thing that will ever fall under the MAIN tag will be large events that multiple people can join, whether as a party or solo, like holiday events. Or main floor dungeons to unlock the next floor.
NOTE: This means this Roleplay can be joined at any time an unless the roleplay closes as a whole or stops for special circumstance, will continually accept new players.
Much of the RP will be through quests that you the players choose to undertake. You yourself or your party will request to undertake a quest in the planning forum. Upon approval a moderator will create the thread for you and set you and your party loose upon it! Quests like this will be marked Solo party, private party, and Open Party.
DUNGEON: I will also be introducing a system alongside and inspired by our Quest Prompt system, which was inspired by FT:NB’s Mission Prompt system. Dungeon Prompts! So far the idea is still under works but the basis behind it is that players will be able to design and submit their own dungeons that they and a friend can go through or that other players may undertake. Even if you do not wish to undertake in the dungeon yourself I encourage and approve of you creating mini dungeons that others may undertake!
TOWNS and FARMING: Threads marked under this will be as such, either a TOWN, like the Town of Beginnings, or a farming locations, like a large field where you may simply kill mobs to increase your currency to buy equipment, or to get crafting materials from drops. Towns will simply be where you can interact with other players in safety, possibly form a guild or party, and have your character meet and make friends with others characters!
