The West Blue

The West Blue is an ocean in the One Piece World. West Blue, like its sister seas, comprises almost entirely of ocean, with a few scattered islands and a border with the Red Line. It is also the starting point for our roleplay, In the town of Mirstone. The West Blue is known for the Ohara incident. Ohara Island held the Tree of Knowledge, a famous place where the books recording the events of history were held. Inside the tree, the world's best archaeologists resided, studying the events of history and making sure the words held in each book were not forgotten. It was their duty to protect and preserve the books and their record of time. They dared to do the unthinkable and began to study a period known as the Void Century, a period in history roughly 800 years ago that the World Government banned from researching. When word got out about what they were researching, the island was ordered to be destroyed using the "Buster Call".

Locations

  • Mirstone is a town located on a small island out on the West Blue. The Island has a vast jungle, with a few hills and mountains, surrounding the town and the island forms a crescent shape around a large harbour with one narrow passage entering the harbour that can only be accessed during a 6 hour period each day, due to rising and falling tides. The town itself is owned by former pirates and criminals and is known as a safe haven for pirates as there is no marine base located on the island. The town has a variety of shops and bars, along with a large shipyard and a fairly extensive weapons market.

What Started it All Wealth. Fame. Power. Gol D. Roger, the King of the Pirates, attained this and everything else the world had to offer, and his dying words drove countless souls to the sea. "You want my treasure? You can have it! I left everything I gathered together in one place. Now, you just have to find it!"

Welcome to One Piece: The Eternal Race!

This will be a highly detailed One Piece based roleplay. The story will take place in an alternate universe so none of the canon characters exist within this world. To put it simply, they were never born. Gol D. Roger still existed and he was still killed by the marines, but beyond that, the entire world has been wiped clean for us to recreate.

The roleplay will feature three crews. Their fates are separate and also entirely intertwined. They have always been that way, tied together by bonds of friendship, rivalry and competition. Individually, their stories are complete. Together, their stories are interwoven into a tale of the century. Loose ends will come back, successes can turn to failures, strife and former friends can become enemies, all while never encountering the same players twice.

Has you interest been peaked yet?

And so our story begins...

It has been five years since anyone has actively sailed in search of the One Piece. No one found it after a decade of searching. Many labeled it a lost cause. Pirates gave up. The moved on. Tangible treasures still exist, after all, and there is still plenty of adventure available on the Grand Line. There was no need for a legend anymore. Sure, the story still has existed. Children hear it as they grow up leading to impossible dreams that are quickly shut down. Some even continue to wonder if the dream is really impossible.

Rumors are spreading. Someone, somewhere, is claiming to have a map to the One Piece. Crazy, right? Who on earth would believe such a claim? Well, you'd be surprised. This person has been last placed in the town if Mirstone in the West Blue and pirates are swarming to the island with no restraint. There haven't been this many pirates in once place for as long as living memory can remember. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, no one seems to really care in regards to it. People are fighting. People are brawling. People are drinking. People are celebrating. Amidst it all, crews are forming.

Does this map really exist? Who is this mysterious person claiming to possess such a thing? Everyone on the island says something different and nothing matches up. One thing is for sure, though. These rumors are pulling people back into the chase, back into the hunt, back into the quest for a legend. Will you join them?

The East Blue

The East Blue is an ocean in the One Piece World. The East Blue, like its sister seas, comprises almost entirely of ocean, with a few scattered islands and a border called the Red Line. The East Blue is commonly known as the weakest of all the seas. Pirates who are considered great and threatening in this sea are regarded as low rate compared to pirates from the other seas and especially in the Grand Line. The East Blue is known mainly for being the sea where the pirate king, Gol D. Roger, was born. Loguetown, the city in the East Blue located closest to the Grand Line, was the birthplace of the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. It also became the place where he was executed, and it was the words spoken by Roger just before his death that set off the Great Age of Pirates. It became a stopping place for pirates heading towards the Grand Line, as a nearby Lighthouse lit up the route towards Reverse Mountain, the entrance of the Grand Line.

Locations

  • Fischer Island has a booming fish industry despite being a small island. All of the fishing boats leave from Dublin Town's port. Dublin Town looks more like a large village than a city. The men of the island are typically fishermen or sailors. Life is simple and has a small town feel. There is no Marine presence on the island, so if you do something wrong you'll have to answer to the local cops and maybe even the mayor. The wildlife isn't threatening since it consists small lizards and frogs, small birds, deer and small mammals (foxes, hedgehogs, hares, and badgers). The fish around Fischer Island aren't dangerous, even the occasional shark is the kind that eats plankton. Dolphins and whales can also be seen on occasion.

The North Blue

The North Blue is an ocean in the One Piece World. North Blue, like its sister seas, comprises almost entirely of ocean, with a few scattered islands and a border with the Red Line. The North Blue houses the country of Flevance. The country known as Flevance was famous for its Amber Lead, a beautiful mineral that made the country to be wealthy, and is what earned the country the nickname "White City". However, a century before this business boomed, the World Government and royal family of Flevance discovered that the mineral was poisonous when exposed to air, but chose not to reveal it, in order to maintain the profitable resources. This led to the poison to accumulate in the citizens' bodies, and each succeeding generation of offspring having shorter lifespans than their predecessors. It was 16 years ago that the full effect of this "Amber Lead Syndrome" came into visible effects, where the lead poisoning is showing on the victims' bodies. Neighboring countries mistook this as a contagious disease, and quarantined the White City from the rest of the world, which led the country to retaliate, leading to its destruction.

Locations

  • The Plastic Resort is secret haven designed for the wealthiest of the wealthy. It was supposed to be an escape for those who could afford it, and those who needed it to get away from the center of attention. After the slavery ring that had overtaken Cinder Island essentially ruined the town, they relocated (along with the hostages they've taken) to the Plastic Resort. The nature of the resort made the capture an easy task. Eventually, the resort became the home of Pitfights, a sort of fighting ring in which slaves were forced to beat one another till death. Controversially, the Pitfights were kept as an attraction for the citizens once the marines freed the place of the slavery ring.

The South Blue

The South Blue is an ocean in the One Piece World. South Blue, like its sister seas, comprises almost entirely of ocean, with a few scattered islands and a border with the Red Line. Not much is known about the South Blue, other than that it hosts the Infamous Karate Island, known for its high mastery in Karate skills and the it is home to the St. Briss, a ship that explored the Skypeia islands, never to return.

The Grand Line

The Grand Line is the ocean current that is surrounded by the Calm Belts and follows an imaginary line that runs from north-west to south-east across the middle of the world and perpendicular to the Red Line. The Red Line is a vast continent that circles the globe from north-east to south-west. These two lines divide the rest of the Blue Sea into the Blues: North Blue, East Blue, West Blue, and South Blue.

This stretch of ocean is said to be the most dangerous place in the world, and is commonly referred to as the Pirates' Graveyard by people from the four Blues because of this reputation. Those few pirate crews that make it to the second half of the Grand Line, known as "the New World", refer to the first half as "Paradise", showing it is all relative. Most believe that it is impossible to safely leave the Grand Line save at its beginning and end. However, the World Government regularly sends ships across the Calm Belts by coating their hulls with Seastone, rendering them invisible to the Sea Kings. The Grand Line is placed similarly to the equator.

Despite the reputation of the Grand Line being dangerous and chaotic, many normal people manage a living on individual islands regardless, having adapted to their home land. This indicates that it is actually traveling within the Line itself that is dangerous, as it virtually guarantees facing unpredictable climates and dangerous wildlife. However, there are also several islands, or portions of the islands, which are considered dangerous in their own right, and thus, they are either uninhabited or the citizens have taken precaution to the threat.

The weather is unusual on the Grand Line. The currents and weather are extremely volatile, as they can change in an instant; this includes water spouts, storms, blizzards, and other such things.Islands and the surrounding waters are the only areas where weather and currents are stabilized in a predictable manner. The reason for this is that islands on the Grand Line fall into four basic categories: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn. These types of islands each have four seasons of their own, giving the Grand Line a total of 16 different seasons. There are also cyclones that seems to appear quickly and suddenly.

Normal compasses do not work on the Grand Line because of the nature of its magnetic fields. In order to navigate the Grand Line, a special compass called a 'Log Pose' must be used. The Log Pose works by locking on to one island's magnetic field and then locking on to another island's magnetic field. The Log Pose can do this for a total of seven different routes that diverge from Reverse Mountain and travel east before merging again to an island, which is not Raftel. The time for a pose to set depends on the island. One island may take from a few hours to a few days to set to the next island, while another can take a year to set. This process can be bypassed by obtaining an 'Eternal Pose'. This version of the Log Pose is permanently set to a specific island and can never change. This makes it easier for a crew to get to a specific island rather than going through a trail of islands.

Locations

  • Fera Spiritus, wild spirit in latin, an island hidden from the world. The existence of this island is rumored throughout the seas, but not many have ever been to it. Only a select few among the world's free spirits. Fera Spiritus is home to the Rugitus Spiritus clan, a tribe of primal people who don't take kindly to strangers. The Rugitus Spiritus go farther back in time than can be documented and have become a legendary warrior clan. They are largely in tune with nature and wild life, rarely killing animals and working with them to survive. The Rugitus Spiritus are currently headed by Spiritus Annorum, the Old Spirit, who is a wise, caring leader unafraid to make the hard choices. He also values the use of books as teaching tools and documenting their current era for the next generation. The Rugitus Spiritus are skilled in all trades including but not limited to blacksmith, carpentry, construction, remedy making, and much more.

Abilities

There are a multitude of unique abilities available to individuals within the world of One Piece. Some of them may be simple combat techniques that can be learned with a proper teacher while others are far more coveted or even not so coveted in some cases. This listing is in no way complete although the more powerful abilities are listed here for record.

  • Devil Fruits are mystical fruits found in the world that can give the eater many different and varying kinds of strange and interesting abilities, depending on the type and variation of the fruit itself. Furthermore, they have other unique and distinguishing qualities.

    • Devil fruits are said to be fruits of the devil. The secret to their power is supposedly hidden in the Grand Line. Encounters with devil fruits are rare.
    • Devil Fruits are worth a lot of money. Any one can be sold for a value of well over 100,000,000 beli although different fruits will fetch different prices depending on what the fruit is.
    • Devil Fruits taste unimaginably bad. The taste is comparable to poison.
    • There can only be one of each type of fruit at a time and thus only one individual with a certain Devil Fruit ability at a time.
    • There are three types of Devil Fruits.

    no slide
    no slide
    Zoan Class
The users of Zoan class Devil Fruits gain the ability to transform into an animal (and acquire every trait affiliated with said animal). The user can also transform into a human-animal hybrid form or a twin-beast hybrid. Zoan fruits can also be transferred into weapons, such as guns or swords. There are Zoan Devil Fruits based not only on common animals, but also on prehistoric animals like dinosaurs and mythological creatures as well (ancient and mythological are rarer than the typical Zoan fruit, with mythological said to be even rarer than Logia Devil Fruits).
    Logia Class
The rarest of the three Devil Fruit classes, Logia class Devil Fruits offer their users the ability to transform themselves into an element, whether it be solid elements like ice or sand, liquids like mud or syrup, gases like smoke and poison gas, forms of plasma (in some cases, energies) like fire and lightning, or into a materialization of abstract concepts such as darkness. This can effectively make them intangible, making physical attacks harmlessly go through them, or allow them to be able to absorb the attack completely. They also gain every ability related to that element and gain the skill to disperse, control, and rejoin any part of their bodies while conscious and in control of their powers (including explosions, bullet wounds or cuts). Logia users can move every part of their transformed bodies while in element form.

Organizations

The world of One Piece is flooded with governing bodies, groups of power, titles with significant meaning and all of them can be either friend or foe. Regardless of which side they fall on, these names carry with them meanings that every pirate would know. Therefore, you as a roleplayer truly ought to know them as well. This database is by no means complete as there’s sure to be original groups created as our story grows.

  • The Marines are the World Government's military sea force, tasked with law enforcement, international security and military operations. The Marines are one of the three great powers, alongside the Shichibukai and the Yonko.

They are present in all the seas around the world, as evidenced by their branch offices. The focus of their assets is on the far more dangerous Grand Line. The duty of the Marines is to maintain a law and order throughout the world and impose the will and might of the World Government. They are therefore considered the key strategic development force in the World Government and are expected to obey its orders at will. Sometimes these orders are questionable, however they are expected to carry them out regardless of opinion. Amongst their duties is awarding bounty hunters the bounties on the heads of a criminal. They tolerate bounty hunters as a method of making their job easier but are known to go out bounty hunting themselves. Apprehended criminals who are brought in alive are handed over to be made an example of, the Marines are left to ensuring the exportation of these criminals to prison and/or to their execution.

The main purpose of the Marines remain footed in the idea of bringing justice to any criminal. They use justice as their constituted policy to manage a world that is made entirely of one ocean much easier. However, the main problem within the Marines is the approach to Justice. They are generally divided between those who support Moral Justice and those who support Absolute Justice with the latter being the code of conduct for the Marines as a central doctrine. Nevertheless, there is little worry from the higher ranked Marines as to how the Justice is carried out so long as it is, leading those who truly support absolute justice to make questionable actions in carrying out their duties.

The Marines are also aided by the Shichibukai in terms of maintaining the "Three Great Powers", and as such, are expected to cooperate when necessary.

One of the most questionable parts of their "Justice" is when it comes to slavery. Despite the practice supposedly being abolished years before, it is often shown that they just look the other way. Especially when it comes to the World Nobles' slaves, where it is even seen as a crime to free said slaves even if the person is merely a child. Often they are tasked to find and retrieve the person to be a slave once again.

The Pirate Code
  • Abide by all established RP Nation Rules.
  • Storytellers of the roleplay have ultimate authority within the roleplay. Current storytellers include: DaughterofAthena, BlacklegSanji and Peaceswore.
  • Respect your fellow roleplayers. This is fairly simple. If there is another person in the roleplay who you are unable to get along with, please keep the conflict out of the roleplay itself. If you have problems with anyone in particular, contact one of the storytellers of the roleplay and we will try to help as best as we can.
  • Keep content within the appropriate locations. Out of Character comments go in the OOC, IC posts go in the appropriate IC thread. If you are unsure of where to put something, ask a Storyteller within an OOC thread.
  • This is a detailed roleplay. All IC posts must be a minimum of two paragraphs with each paragraph being at least five sentences long. If you are struggling to meet the length minimum, ask a storyteller for suggestions on how to add more detail or ask a fellow roleplayer to collaborate with you.
  • You must post within one week of being tagged within an IC post. If you do not respond within a week, it is assumed that your character ignored whatever happened that they were tagged in regards to and the story will continue with whatever consequences come with it.

If you are unable to post, you must contact a storyteller prior to the end of the one week time period in which you are required to post.
  • You are also expected to, if unable to post, notify the person who tagged you either by PM or via the OOC.

[*]Do not animate (control) another player’s character without their direct permission.

[*]Devil Fruit characters require a special application. To apply for a devil fruit, fill out
this form and you will hear back from a storyteller within a week in regards to whether or not you will get a fruit and what fruit you will get. More details are contained within the form itself.

  • If you submit a CS in which you list your character as having a devil fruit and you HAVE NOT been notified of receiving a devil fruit, you will not under any circumstances receive a devil fruit within the roleplay.
  • Any further questions regarding devil fruit selection can be directed to BlacklegSanji.

[*]Characters may not have any extensive knowledge of any other abilities at the start of the roleplay.

  • Characters may have knowledge of the existence of Haki, but they may not have any knowledge as to how to actually use/control it.
  • While a character may have knowledge of Rokushiki, they are limited to only two abilities and there must be an extensive and reasonable explanation within the history of the character as to how they learned the abilities. If it doesn’t make sense, it will not be allowed.

[*]Please keep in mind that this roleplay will focus heavily on character development so if you’re character begins as an expert in almost anything, you are severely limiting the growth of your character throughout the story itself.
