Realistic or Modern Summertime Serenade (CS)

BrokenRemedy

A Disproportionately Dysfunctional Disappointment
CS Rules:
-Original characters, please!
-This will be first come first serve with a twist. The first 5 characters that pique my interest (not with BBCode, but with Quality~) will be accepted. If your character has a lack of detail or interest, I will give you a few tries to remake your character, but once all of the slots are full, I won't be accepting anymore!
-Faceclaim wise, I don't really care. I would prefer realistic but if that just doesn't work then so be it.
-I am open to LGBT shippings, but I really do want everyone to have a couple, so please try to work this out!

Name: Sophia Adelaide Ollerton
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance:
FC: Olesya Rulin

For starters, Sophia is only 4'11" and bears the brunt of constant short jokes. She was a gymnast through tenth grade, at which point she became too serious about school and had to quit. Though she has had body image issues in the past, she's far from overweight at about 105 lbs, and is also naturally muscular. Her hair is dark brown, but the amount of time she spends outside in the summer tends to lighten the hue considerably. Unsurprisingly, she doesn't bother to do anything fancy with it, so the majority of the time it's in either down or in a messy bun or ponytail.

Soph has a nose piercing, which she got when she turned 18 for her obligatory act of rebellion against her parents. It was horribly ill-advised and she would let it close up, except for the fact that it wastes money (and hey, college ain't free). So she wears as small and inconspicuous a stud as possible.

Her style, much to the chagrin of all of her girlier friends, is less than hip. In the winter, her default attire is jeans, hiking socks, combat boots, a flannel or sweater, and a beanie; in summer, it's jean shorts, Converse, t-shirts, and a baseball cap. She tends to go for relatively bright colors and simple patterns.

Worth noting is that Sophia's hatred for dresses and skirts runs deep. They're just uncomfortable, and inconvenient, and she has to pay too much attention to how she's sitting and leaning down and what's showing where, and ain't nobody got time for that. For the beach, if she isn't tanning while reading fanfiction, she opts for one pieces or rash guards.

She has not gone near makeup ever since a traumatic experience with a mascara wand, and lucky for her she has naturally good skin (though she has freckles that seriously pop out in the summer). The most she does is sunblock and chapstick.

Personality:

Soph is the definition of a controversial person with a strong personality. People tend to either love or hate her. This is mainly because she speaks her mind and stands up for everyone and everything she believes in. She also calls people out for their BS and delivers harsh reality checks. Nobody can really argue with her, because she's always right, but sometimes she could be a bit gentler. She's incredibly passionate about school in particular. And she's quite sociable and friendly. In fact, most people really like her at first, because she's the first to jump up and say hello or to break the ice. The moment of truth comes when she actually opens her mouth and starts talking.

She's more of an "acts of service" gal. You won't catch her writing cute mushy texts to friends. But you will see her drive an hour to spend time with an upset friend, or get involved (for better or worse) in social situations, or basically give people she cares about — or people she thinks deserve it — the shirt off her back.

Which leads into her loyalty. Having dealt with feelings of abandonment around her adoption, Sophia is fiercely loyal. This is bad for her enemies, because she can also be quite astute and manipulative. This is good, obviously, for the people she loves. She's also exuberant and proud of her friends' accomplishments, and the type to throw herself at someone and give them a lung-crushing hug when they're not expecting it.

She's somewhat haphazard. When she was younger, she absolutely ended up in the emergency room every other week. Everything about her is disorganized on the outside (think messy room, messy desk, no planner, nothing) but she actually has it all together and neatly organized inside her head, which is a relief. She is kind of a walking contradiction and a bizarre mixture of perfectionist and slacker, people pleaser and badass.

Sophia is also super smart, though she tries to tone it down because despite her outgoing, confident personality she's incredibly humble. All in all, she's spunky and a spitfire and a little firecracker. She can be annoying to some, and others find her downright mean, and she has her fair share of haters. But in the end, she really is a caring and intelligent person, and hey, not everyone can be liked by everyone.

Likes & dislikes:

  • She really likes school and wants to go into a STEM field.
  • Her favorite TV show is Friends.
  • She listens to alternative rock bands, but not hardcore.
  • She likes food a lot. Especially junk food.
  • She likes to go on adventures with friends. Spontaneous road trips with the windows down and radio blasting are her thing. Hikes are fun too.
  • She likes hanging out with friends. Being quite social and extroverted, her idea of a good time is a grocery cart full of candy and junk food, Netflix, chick flicks, and just spending time together.
  • I mean, she likes people who get her sense of humor, which is heavily rooted in sarcasm, and who can carry on intelligent conversation.
  • She doesn't like to drive, at all. When she does drive, she yells and swears at everyone on the road.
  • Well, she has a lot of serious pet peeves. For one, people who misspell things or mix up homophones.
  • She also hates vegetables. However, she could eat fruit all day every day and never tire of it.
  • She dislikes people who do things that go against her principles. Which, being in high school, is the majority of her peers. These things generally just involve getting into stupid social drama, cheating on people, trash talking, and the like.
  • She dislikes underage drugs/drinking. People sometimes assume, based on her intense and slightly crazy personality, that she must be a partier, but she's actually a real straight edge.
  • She hates the internet, like a lot. She refuses to put up with anyone's nonsense and there is an abundance of nonsense on the internet, as she's seen her friends undergo, and she does not want to go near it.
She also doesn't like most guys. She's had a couple disastrous relationships, and she claims that she's waiting for a nice guy with no drama and high tolerance for a high maintenance person. (In reality, she's waiting for someone who won't leave her, and who she can someday actually trust.)
  • She despises people promoting mental illness or negative body image/talk. Like, she will slap them in the face and shut them down before they can even blink.

Strengths & weaknesses:

Positive traits
  • Funny
  • Outgoing
  • Intelligent and a quick study
  • Loyal
  • Determined
  • Brave
  • Astute/perceptive
  • Confident
Sophia is good at school. She is exceptionally intelligent when it comes to mathematics, and she is one of the best friends you could ever have — if you can actually handle her. Her intensity is both a strength and a weakness, as is her bravery (which can lead to recklessness).
Negative traits
  • Stubborn
  • Sometimes insensitive
  • Domineering
  • Hot tempered
  • Brash
  • Careless
  • Loud
  • Impulsive
  • Can be manipulative without meaning to be
Sophia is hot-tempered and sometimes has tunnel vision. She can also be domineering and manipulative; she is a control freak and sometimes doesn't have much of a filter. And she can be stubborn and hold grudges, even when it's in everyone's best interest for her to move on. Also, when it comes to relationships Soph is often really reticent and not at all assertive.

Fears:

Sophia's got all the cliche relationship issues. Her adoption has ingrained the paralyzing fear of others leaving her because she's not good enough. So her greatest fear is definitely being abandoned by someone who was supposed to be there for her (as her birth mother abandoned her), and/or finding out that she isn't good enough for someone.

Secondly, part and parcel with her dislike of driving is the crippling fear of being pulled over by a cop. Which she also extends to everyone else. So she's usually anxiously checking the mirrors, criticizing people's driving, and silently (or not so silently) panicking because she's absolutely positive they're going to get pulled over.

Mannerisms (Optional):

Habits:
  • She watches reality TV shows. It's her guilty pleasure and nobody can know.
  • She chews gum. A lot.
  • She sings/hums all the time, with or without music, and she is no Taylor Swift (or whatever other artist you think is good at singing).
History:

She was abandoned by her mother in Russia as a newborn and taken to an impoverished orphanage. Eventually her parents adopted her, at which point she had to have language therapy because she was already speaking and comprehending Russian. Her parents tried to put her in Russian school to continue to learn Russian (just as well as English) but, wanting no roots to remind her of her past, she refused. Now, she regrets not being bilingual.

Growing up, she was a bright and gifted child but pretty hyperactive. She was tested for ADHD, but it was finally concluded that that's just her personality. She went through a tomboy phase in elementary school. In 8th grade, she tried to "fit in" and appease the bullies by changing all her clothes, acting stupid, and eventually developing an eating disorder, for which she was hospitalized for 3 months. Her teachers gave her all A's despite her never finishing the year, and gave her the chance to go into high school with a fresh start.

She spent much of ninth grade in and out of hospitals for suspected borderline personality disorder. When she went back, her reputation was so bad amongst her peers because of the drama from middle school that she ended up moving to a different state for tenth grade. Since then, she's gotten much more stable, though she still has underlying anxiety and still takes meds. People were quick to like/hate her at her new school. Those who liked her became her closest friends and remain so to this day. She's been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout her high school career after moving.

Extras (anything else you can think of):

I'd like Sophia to find someone who likes her and who is either similarly hyper, or the exact opposite (very calm, lowkey, and tolerant). If she likes someone, she really likes them, but she's not going to come forth and be overly obvious about it. They'll have to be assertive (but not so much so that it comes off cocky) and intelligent, and understand and appreciate her sense of humor. Yes, she's got high standards. Hopefully she'll match with someone at some point :P

Personality
Trent overall can be described as a the "nice guy" although when people first see him they think he is more of a player. Which in all honestly he used to be back in the day but once he reached the enlightening age of 17 he realized that wasn't really who he was. Trent is the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone else, he cares about the people close to him, and he can be quite protective.

He likes to stay active, he never really wanted to be the lazy person who just sits on the couch and watches tv all day, he likes going outside and working on things or just going out to explore. Sometimes he can lack real motivation, mainly if it involves doing something he doesn't really want to or if he does want to do it but just not in the time frame someone may want him to. He is one who hates being late, if he tells you that he is going to be somewhere at a certain time, he will be there, and if not he does have an excuse. Trent likes being around people, he has always been an extrovert, he likes going out and meeting new people, doing new things, and just not being alone.

Like anyone else, Trent can have his bad sides to his personality, mainly his temperament. To some Trent may seen like an over protective person, he likes to keep what is his safe, whether that be a person or thing. He can have a bit of a hot head, mainly if he has had a bit to much to drink. He is not afraid to stand up for himself, or for those who need someone to stick up for them, he knows whats right and will fight until it is the way it needs to be. He doesn't really show any sad emotions, if he is upset he will more seclude himself until he either gets over it or at least feels comfortable enough to be around people.

History
Trent was born into a life of luxury, his parents were wealthy lawyers and his grandfather was a business owner. For the majority of his childhood he was raised by nannies and once he was 6 he was homeschooled. Although he had cousins, who he barely seen, he really didn't have that many friends, or kids around his age to interact with at all. His parents enjoyed traveling, so at least twice a year they went on a vacation, their first cruise ship vacation basically ended in a disaster, with the ship itself having a lot off problems and to the point where he (At the time) almost thought they wouldn't make it home.

Once Trent reached middle school age, his grandmother suggested possibly enrolling him in a private school, just so he could make some friends. Trent really didn't want to go to a snooty rich kid school, because he never seen himself in that way, he wanted to go to normal kid school. So he argued and fought for his parents to enrol him in a normal middle school and they finally agreed. To answer your question, yes he didn't do to well at first interacting with people, he did get picked on and bullied, but at the time he thought that was how boys made friends. But thankfully he learned that wasn't the case, but he didn't really let that bother him too much.

Finally he hit high school, at this point he had made friends with most of the school, he was good looking enough to fit in with the popular kids and kind enough to be friends to the not so popular kids. He tried not to show off the fact that his family had money, and for the most part really nobody knew. When he turned 16 his grandmother passed away, and that really broke him down, she was his main support system from the beginning. He became a bit less outgoing after that, but became better at hiding some of his emotions.

DISTINGUISHING MARKS
a few childhood scars here and there, but nothing too noticeable

p e r s o n a

personality
personality
Louisa is a very positive person, bubbly and outgoing. She's very caring, and wants to help as many people as she possibly can. Even though she is very caring, she can easily mess up and hurt people. Not because she means to, but simply because she doesn't think about what she's doing. She is a wonderful mix of two sides. One is the innocent, small town girl who never misbehaves, and the other is the crazy, misbehaved partygirl. She's polite, sweet and caring, but she can also be aggressive, loud and promiscuous. She enjoys taking care of people, and spending time with her friends in calm surroundings, but she also loves to let herself go every so often

main traits
strengths:
+ caring and loving
+ quite mentally strong
+ cares very little about what other people think about her appearance
+ manages to see the positives in almost every situation

weaknesses:
- cares too much about what people think about her as a person
- never learn from her own mistakes
- irrational
-very bad at dealing with her feelings

likes/dislikes
+ painting
+ sculpting
+ talking
+ yoga

- loudmouths
-politics
-cleaning
-running

fears
Louisa's most present fear, is her fear of dying. For her, it's not a fear for death itself, it's a fear of not being able to live the life she wants to, or dying before she does everything she's ever dreamed of. Her fear of dying has lead her to make quite a few decisions without really thinking them through, something that has hurt her more often than it has benefited her. She's also quite scared of not being able to travel, and anything that might come in the way of her being able to explore gives her quite a bit of anxiety. She has a few other fears and phobias too, like spiders, driving off a cliff and heights, but these do not bother her in her daily life

mannerisms
When she talks, Louisa moves her hands, a lot. She always uses her hands to explain whatever she's saying, even though it might not be necessary. She realizes that it can sometimes be distracting, but not moving her hands while speaking feels uncomfortable and unnatural to her

h i s t o r y

background
background
Louisa grew up on a farm with her parents, her older brother and her grandmother. For the first years of her life her brother lived with the rest of her family, but when Louisa was about eight years old he moved out. Her parents were, un-ironically, hippies. They insisted on farming without any chemicals, and the inside of their barns were filled with dream-catchers and trippy posters. They were all about “make love, not war”, a mantra that Louisa grew up on, even though the war was long dead when she was born.

Even though she had a pretty decent upbringing, she felt restless living at her parent’s farm, so she convinced her brother to let her move in with him. He lived in a bigger city with more people, and she wanted to explore. She moved into the city and went to a bigger high-school than before. She started perusing different kinds of art, something that she was unable to do while living with her parents.

Her need for something new and exciting was only satisfied for the first year or two of living with her brother, and the urge to go out and experience something new started nagging at her once again.

Strengths: Fun to be around, bold, easygoing, brave, silly, loyal, confident

Weaknesses: brash, loud, controlling, self-focused, insensitive, pessimistic

Fears: insects,
-Fauve has a visible fear of being touched without her permission. This stems from being physically attacked by old classmates.
- She's constantly afraid of being confronted for her sexuality+gender identity.

Mannerisms: Playing with her hair, fiddling her hands, excessively checking the mirror.

Personality▼

Fauve is a wild spirit; she's a cigarette dangling carelessly from a hand, the adrenaline pumping through veins at 2 a.m, city lights glowing at dusk. In her eyes, life has no value; everything is meaningless. She doesn't care if she ruins her own life because there's nothing to it. She fits the archetype of the traditional "rebellious teen". Fauve's slept around and done nearly every drug available to her. Her goal is to have fun.

On one hand, people enjoy being around the girl because she's fun and easygoing. She's enjoyable to have in company, and offers something refreshing and wild to a friendship. She's adventurous and is constantly pushing her friends to try new things. However, Fauve can be brash, loud, and controlling. She demands her ideas and thoughts be heard; she will argue and fight to get her way. Furthermore, Fauve isn't sensitive to the others and tends to say offensive and snarky remarks. Despite her "rebellious/edgy" exterior, the girl has an overshadowed soft side. Without the booze and drugs, she's a relaxed girl who thinks more deeply about her peers and the world she lives in. While she's sober, she's considerate and caring. Underneath the rolled up blunts and flaming cigarettes, there's a girl who likes indie music and fireplaces and petting cats and the sound of rain.

Appearance▼

Surprisingly enough, the average eye can't tell that Fauve is transgender. She has a naturally high pitched voice- with a slight texan twang that she hates- that fits in with her appearance. She was born with a naturally petite build, the only giveaways are her lack of ladyparts and her height. Fauve stands at 5'10". She'll usually stuff bras to give the illusion of breasts, and occasionally pads her thighs/hips to make herself look more traditionally feminine. Furthermore, the girl has naturally long blonde hair that's aided with extensions. Her hair is nothing fancy, as she can't afford anything expensive. Fauve also owns two cheap lacefronts, which she wears occasionally.

Fauve's clothing style is an interesting combination of pastels and revealing clothes fit for a stripper. She likes showing off her body, and can typically be seen in short-shorts and croptops. In addition to this, her wardrobe is full of pink and pastels. No matter what she opts for, the girl never looks sloppy. No matter the occasion, she always looks put together.
History▼

Fauve was born in Edcouth, Texas, to Dina and Jacob Brochan. She was genetically born as a male, and ironically named a traditionally female french name. Her mother, having french origins, persisted to name their child "Fauve". The name means "wild and uninhabited". Since her child would be growing up in an english-speaking country, Fauve's mom insisted nobody would know that the name is typically given to girls. The young boy grew up in a poor, rural town, with a population of a mere 3,161. The community itself was strongly religious, and Catholicism was embedded in his house. Growing up, she found that she didn't seem to fit in. She didn't enjoy shooting squirrels or wrestling or playing sports. At a young age, the biological boy found more company with females than males. It wasn't until Fauve was about twelve or thirteen did she attract the attention of her parents and the locals.

Fauve clearly wasn't attracted to girls. That was a problem. Fauve also clearly did not act like a boy. That was a problem, too. At school, her peers jeered insults at her, physically attacked her, and dehumanized her. At home, her parents urged her to be heterosexual.

At around age fifteen, Fauve realized her identity of being trans. Two years later, against her parents' permission, moved in with her older cousin in a different state. She picked up two jobs in order to start providing for herself. Her older cousin helped pay for her education, and Fauve attended the local high school as a result. The opportunity allowed her to meet her now best friends.

Personality:
Amber is the last person you would expect to have issues. She doesn't believe that she deserves to have them, considering the fact that she has a seemingly perfect life. So she hides all of her emotions, not behind a smile like most people would, in fact it's more like the opposite. Amber keeps a stoic composition about her, always seeming to be calm, cool and collected. She is a great listener and gives wonderful advice, but refuses to speak of her own worries or troubles. She is seen as a rather boring individual, which is why she tends to have a lack of friends. This is simply because she isolates and pushes away people, not letting them get close enough to hurt her. It takes her a while, but once she breaks out of her shell and gets comfortable, she's less of a buzzkill. She can lighten a mood with her awkward small talk, crack cheesy jokes or puns, and can embarrass the living daylights out of herself on a daily basis. Amber is good at telling stories to those who wish to listen, and loves to sing more than anything on the world. Her voice would really get her going somewhere if she wasn't the clumsiest, most socially awkward, and introverted person on the planet. Her only hope in life is to finally be able to open up to someone and let out her emotions. Most of the time she holds them in and claims that she's fine, but on especially bad days she can explode. Amber cares more about the happiness of others than she does herself, and would gladly give her life to anyone she trusts.

Likes:

Strengths (2+):
~Smart~Sympathetic~Loyal~
Weaknesses (2+):
~Pushover~Stubborn~Awkward~Clumsy~Shy~Clingy~

Fears:

Amber is afraid of losing someone she's close to, be it her friends or her family. She has extreme social anxiety. She is deathly afraid of hurting others and will blame herself if she sees anyone in pain.

Mannerisms:

Though she comes off calm and casual, someone who knows her well enough knows when she's nervous- or on the verge of a mental breakdown. If she's nervous, she tends to bite her lip, her nails, and will often be tapping her foot. If she's about to go off the deep end, her expression tends to go from 'content with life' to completely emotionless. She'll stop moving all together, seemingly paralyzed, being trapped in her own thoughts. Of course, it's best to just leave her be until it passes, or until she throws herself out of a window.

History (1 paragraph minimum):
Amber grew up with a great life. She was raised by her aunt in the city, never having to worry about issues with money. She typically got whatever she asked for. Though she wasn't rich, she was overall content with life. Her parents weren't in the picture, but it didn't bother her, as they left her at a young age. She was born in Australia, living with her parents when one night they didn't come home. The young child was confused, and after about a week, the police showed up at her door. The next thing she knew, she was shipped to America to live with her aunt, with absolutely no explanations. She missed her parents at first, but eventually the thought stopped troubling the young girl's mind, that is.. until she got to High School.
Freshman year was when the depression hit full force. Having gone to a Catholic Private school, while at the same time realizing that she was pansexual, was only the beginning. She experienced the bullying by her classmates, some saying she was a slut, other that she was a piece of emo trash, and the best of all, was that she should just go back to Australia and live with the crocodiles. At that point, she wanted more than anything to return home, questioning why her parents left her in the first place. Finally, she asked her aunt the burning question. Where had her parents gone? The answer was devastating. Her mother had apparently met a man and had an affair, leaving her father one day without warning. He left his child alone in a furious rage and drank himself stupid. When the sorrow hit, it was said that he had taken his own life. Yet the case itself was a mysterious one, considering her mother wound up dead only three days afterwards. The news took a toll on Amber, but she grew to accept it.
The thought of her father taking his own life and leaving her alone in the world infuriated her, but so did the idea of her mother leaving them for another man. It made her question her worth, afraid that maybe she wasn't good enough for anyone. Her depression was so obvious throughout her freshman and sophomore year that her aunt thought it would be helpful if she switched to a public school, so she did. There, Amber got a new start, hiding her emotions and her feelings, especially the ones of love. When thinking back on what happened to her father, Amber swore to herself that she would never let anyone hurt themselves, taking it upon herself to help anyone that she could.. all the while letting her hate for her own self grow even stronger.
Extras (anything else you can think of): Don't hate her... I'm halfway asleep and trying to get her posted.
