「anti-heros?」

Definition of antihero: a main character in a book, play, movie, etc., who does not have the usual good qualities that are expected in a hero

"Sooo... you're saying they are not heroes then?"

"A GIANT no!"

「anti-heros?」

We all know the story. Gotham - A cesspool of corruption and criminality, yet such an intriguing métropole. The tug-o-war between the heros, the Batmans and Robins, and the villains, the Jokers and Banes, has raged on for such a long time. And eventually, Gotham was bound to get tired of it. It revolted. The years of the average citizen praying not to get in the way while the so called heroes and villains slugged it out were over.

Instead of sending the fanatic criminals to the Arkham Asylum, people began to execute those they were capable of. Vigilante justice became more and more popular, and the additional, concentrated pressure of the police drove good and bad alike into exile, for if they stayed around, death wasn't unlikely. And there were other cities to be terrorized afterall... Some ran for their live. Some declared openly to never come back, being quite flexible due to their resources, and others simply disappeared, like Batman and Joker.

A few decades have passed now, and Gotham returned to a comparatively normal major city. But, even without the supernatural and otherwise peculiar characters once harming and/or protecting it, Gotham never eradicated the trace. Sure, most of them were driven away. Some died. But their legacies are very well alive.

Secretely, wide varieties of DNA were collected back in the day. A shadowy company (that has cut all traces since) in its possession, hired surrogate mothers to birth children utilizing the... Well... they have a peculiar ancestry, if you catch my drift. They are the Rootkids. The undying descendants of Gotham's former "star citizen". Who knows which sickos have been sampled and have their bastard child roam around right now... But, for more urgent matters, there's a group of them right now, behind bars, and they are... well... gifted. Terrible, don't get me wrong. But gifted. And maybe the only chance to clear Gotham's sky from what's lurking...
