Fantasy Street Magic || The Mall

Ni'Ara tilted her head with a slight frown. "Hmm.. so it is not only the wind that can be.. temperamental it seems. I have notice that when the wind is calm, like a gentle breeze, its words are gentle... but I remember once, at the onset of a tornado as I was attempting to direct it away from a small town, the torrential winds told me I was far too large to be calling myself a wind spirit. I suppose I am rather tall, so I took no offense." She giggled at the thought, having no idea that her words might be entirely surprising to the Plant Elemental she was speaking to.

Ni'Ara then proceeded to listen calmly, seeming not at all bothered when Asha stated that she was good at growing plants. Ni'ASra had assumed that her ability to grow plants, in some form or fashion, was greater than a human's, so she didn't think of that statement alone as a no-brainer at all. She tilted her head and smiled slightly in fascination as the woman then explained the nature of her plant-growing abilities. The sparkle in her eyes faded, however, when she mentioned that it was all she had control over. "Hmm... all you can control is the creation of plant growth? Hm... I remember losing much control myself at one point... When was that again?" Her eyes then lit up with an idea. "Aaaah, I think I understand the issue. You do not spend enough time in nature. And I don't just mean among your plants. See, this shop is in an artificial building. I remember that I lost control of many areas of my power during a time when I was being trained as a pilot, and had to spend large chunks of every day cooped up indoors. Nowadays, I have full control and I believe it is due to how often I take trips into the wild, reconnect with nature and thus to the Air itself. I believe a camping trip may do you good. Something to keep in mind, perhaps."

Ni then paused, and found herself perusing the plants again. "Ah yes, I was here to buy a nice selection for my garden though. Anything in particular you'd reccomend?"

Sloane Shields

Sloane couldn't help the smile--bright and genuine--that came to her face when someone fell in love with their tattoo. Her hard work. And Tess expressed herself so warmly, if a little much, and it was reassuring even at Sloane's level of experience. She would eye Tess as the vampire edged closer and pout momentarily when they actually touched, but it didn't seem to bother her beyond that and she remained polite and engaged in her work. Her eyes ran up and down the other's arm at the question as she contemplated. It was a beautiful sleeve, seeming to be always be in progress. "Arm," she said after a moment before explaining, "'cause you'll want some of your shoulder open for a larger design if you decide to go down your back or chest."

She blinked then when the vampire recalled the year of the oldest looking tattoo. 1985: Sloane would have been in high chair. She knew she looked younger, however, so she refrained from commenting on it. "You're a vampire, right? How long have you been one?" she asked instead, hoping to confirm her thoughts. She was curious, and vampirism seemed like an easy path to immortality...but was it possible for a mage? Would she keep her magic? Many worries kept her from that path, and it wasn't the blood drinking.

Then Tess continued the teasing that kept putting Sloane on edge: aging--or the lack of. "...Yeah," she said simply, polite smile returning. "If you wanna take a seat in one of the booths, I'll give this a quick outline for your skin. I'm not risking a freehand." She sat again to quickly create a stencil over the drawing. Then she would pause on her way to follow the other to one of the two work spaces, her hand hovering over her two ink sets. The witch was nervous that the other was onto her, and she had no idea how the magic would react to vampire blood...but if it worked as it should, she might have an infinite supply of life to drain. Nibbling on her lip, she decided her curiosity and reward weighed far more than the risk, and snatched up her personal recipe.

Asha
"People like you are the reason I want to control life"

full

Her eyes were aimed to the side of Ni'Ara as she felt too upset with herself to make eye contact. She watched as the elemental took in the info she had provided and formed a smile bringing up a time the wind had also been rather rude to her. It made Asha giggle, more inside, but a bit did escape though mostly in a slight smile. It did make her feel a tad better to know that maybe it wasn't just because of lack of respect that the plants around her had. Ni'Ara didn't seem phased by her lack of abilities, though it might just be lack of understanding what abilities someone like her should had. I mean, not even Asha was entirely sure.

Nature? Like a camping trip? she couldn't remember the last time she went on a camping trip, if ever. It now seemed so simple to think that she had never actually left this place due to all the troubles that had occurred.

"Oh, recommendations!" she had sort of forgot she ran a shop, honestly. Asha tried to remember all the important questions before looking back at Ni'Ara.

"Yes, what does your garden space look like? What plants do you have in it already? and what are you looking for out of your garden?" the last part was slightly confusing,, she realized. "By that last one, I mean are you using it for herbs, vegetables and fruits, or for meditation and other things like that," she added before pulling out a pen and paper to take note of everything. "It may seem rather trivial, but there are certain plants that can help in certain garden types like lavender being best in a meditation garden or an herb garden."

Ni's smile grew a little wider as she noticed Asha smile in response to the Air Elemental making light of herself. She decided to keep in mind that self-deprecative humor seems to be pleasant to this woman. Asha seemed thoughtful about Ni's words, which was a relief. It saddened Ni a little bit to hear that one of her fellow guardians of nature was seemingly rather disconnected from her element. Mayhaps, if she got to know this intriguing woman a bit better, it would do her good to drag her out camping or somesuch someday.

That thought was far off in the future now, though; what wasn't was the interesting array of questions Ni was then asked about the garden she wished to create. She put a delicate hand to her chin as she patiently listened to the Plant Guardian's questions and explanation, clearly thinking rather hard about this for a moment, then spoke up with a slight, excited smile. "Hmmm... the place I wish to plant a garden is in my backyard. There are flowerbeds surrounding a small square area, however since I have not done anything with it since I moved in, there is nothing there yet. I will certainly be using it for meditation." She left our her lack of a need for food, as she picked up a bit of an inferiority complex coming from Asha and the last thing she wanted was to feel as if she was superior. Although she had no idea if Asha could eat or not, Ni decided to play it safe.

"Show me the varieties you recommend and I shall purchase what pleases my eyes," Ni said. It wasn't long before hse had picked out a fairly large selection that she believed would be more than enough for her garden. "I believe this will be enough, wish to ring me up?" Ni stepped towards the counter, carrying handfuls of seed packets and a few tools she also bought in order to tend to them.

Then, she thought of something. This Asha was very interesting. Ni found herself wanting to know more about Asha, to get to know her. After all, she had never met another elemental before. "Say..." she said as she carefully placed the goods to be purchased upon the counter, "If you aren't too busy, would you like to me to go show you something? A place I adore? I would like to... help you reconnect with nature. You may find that it will help you unlock powers you may not know you had, or at the very least help you get along better with flora." She giggled at that last little comment, before tilting her head in curiosity and looking the woman in the eyes, waiting patiently for an answer.

Asha
"People like you are the reason I want to control life"

Asha took a moment to assess Ni'Ara's needs. Meditation, she thought before smiling. "I would reccomend a Buddhist styled garden. It is best to have a center of focus like a fountain, tree, statue or something," she started as she brought out a meditation magazine to give her. "I would also say that you should set up a small path, since I assume you do not have a lot of space," she handed her the magazine, before taking her to many plants.

"If you do not use a fountain, some form of running water is always quite soothing and I would recommend it to water plants," she suggested as she continued to look for the plants she wished to show her. "These plants along here are really good and if you have some favorite herbs like lavender, that would be nice. You should look for scents that calm and sooth you, so I recommend, if you don't have allergies, to smell the different scents," Asha had gotten carried away with her explanations and soon found she probably overloaded her customer.

"Sorry, I am slightly passionate about plants, but just start small and work your way up," she added. Asha waited as Ni'Ara chose her items before she brought them to the counter to be rung up. They were all pretty nice choices with a lot in consideration to her advice which always made her happy.

As she was ringing up, she was taken by suprise when Ni'Ara asked to take her somewhere. "You just up and ask a stranger you just met to go somewhere special with you?" she sort of laughed, but in a way of disbelief. "I mean, it can't hurt, so sure... The store is rather slow with you being my second customer in a span of four hours. I don't know if you can manage to get the plants to stop insulting me, but it is worth a shot," she agreed, but she found it was slightly out of character for her.

I must be crazy just following some stranger to some unknown place. For all I know she could murder me, Asha thought, but decided to throw caution to the wind, in more than one way.

Cassius Saint-Clair

"Click-Clack. Click-Clack..."

His polished shoes tapped a steady beat on the faux granite of the Mall floor as he walked across the main courtyard. A rather unusual figure to be seen in a rather "pedestrian" part of town Cassius cut an odd figure in this mecca of tacky commercialism. The dark blue of his suit stood out in the crowd of semi fashionable teens and their decidedly
unfashionable chaperones. Gripping Oscar's trumpet case closer to himself Cassius navigated thorough the throng of mortals, being quite careful to not send anyone sprawling from his solid frame. What an absolute chore. He wouldn't even be near the Mall if he could help it.

But. Oscar was waiting.

Past The Old One's Pretzel and Forever 21 he came upon his destination. Cassius checked his watch. On time as always. He straightened out his tie, picked the minuscule imperfection off his shoulder, and entered the shop. Seeing that Mr.Sites was already done with his session he stood beside the door allowing him to hobble out. A brief memory passed in his mind of when he first opened his own storefront. The Sites were so young then.

Dare was looking out into space, as usual, when he stepped up to her desk. Placing the trumpet case ever so carefully, lovingly even, on the desk he called out to her in his usual even monotone.
"Ms. Edwards. Your 12:30 appointment is here."

Niara tilted her head to the side as Asha carefully assessed her needs and provided quite the wealth of useful information, her eyes widening at her supposed knowledge of meditation as well, which Ni was not exactly expecting. She took the magazine with a smile, and found her smile only growing as she listened intently, following Asha throughout her shop and carefully considering each suggestion she gave her, mentally noting as much as she could. In the end, she was given quite a lot to take in but she didn’t mind.

Ni smiled while shaking her head slowly at Asha’s apology for getting carried away. “Oh, no need to apologize. Your passion is endearing, if anything, and you have given me quite a lot of useful information. In fact, I think I know exactly what to buy.” She made her selections with a contented smile upon her face.

Upon Asha’s reaction to her words, Ni smiled bashfully and blushed a little. “W-well, yes, I suppose that’s exactly what I’m doing. I will put it this way: you are the only one of my kind I have met. I feel a duty to help you and to get to know you better.” She smiled that warm smile of hers once again. Her eyes widened and brightened with both surprise and great thankfulness as to her slight Surprise, Asha went on to agree, no further persuasion required. Her smile faded for a moment as she mentioned how slow her shop had been today. Her smile was restored however, accompanied by a warm giggle, as Asha made her quip about the plants. “I very much appreciate you trusting me. I know this is a very sudden and odd request. However, I’m confident that the plants will respect you more after you return, however it would be wise to go back out into nature on a semi-frequent basis, at least, in order to maintain said respect. I may not have to coax you further however, as I believe you’ll also find a serenity and peace of mind there that you may feel you have been lacking. Also, you may awaken to new powers during your time in this place though I cannot be certain.”

Bagging her newly-purchased things and throwing the bag over her shoulder, she smiled warmly at Asha again. “Thank you once again; you were of great help. Now allow me to return said favor. Do whatever you may need to close up shop and I shall meet you outside.” Ni stepped out of the shop and waited for Asha, smiling once more before beginning to lead her out of the mall and to the parking lot. “Ah, I didn’t think to ask if you were comfortable with travel on motorbike,” she said with a nervous laugh. “Regardless, here is my ride. What do you think?” She smiled at her sleek motorcycle as she gestured grandly towards it, smiling at Asha once again afterwards. She opened up the storage compartment and took out her helmet as well a spare for Asha, handing it to her.. Confidently throwing her leg over the bike and mounting it in a practiced motion, she looked back at Asha over her shoulder for a moment. “It will only be about a half hour journey one way, depending on traffic here in the city. Most of the way there is by a freeway with few cars, quite nice. I will be sure to drive quite carefully, if you are concerned about that. Hop on, we’ve little time to waste.” Once Asha had slipped on behind her, she said, “You may want to hold on tightly once we get to the mountain pass; there are a few sharp turns.” With that, she turned the key in the ignition, causing the metal beast to come to life. Afterwards, she kicked up the kickstand in one swift motion before revving the motor a couple times and then heading off.

The way there was mostly peaceful, to Ni anyway. Just as she had warned, there were quite a few sharp turns here and there as they strayed farther and farther from civilization. Asha would notice more and more trees beside the roads as the pair rode up the mountainside. After around half an hour of an increasingly scenic drive, not another soul around up here, they had reached an unassuming section of forest that Ni unceremoniously veered off the road towards, carefully skidding to a stop. “How was the ride?” She asked, smiling. She helped Asha and herself off the bike, then said,”Come,” after she finished parking her vehicle. She led Asha through the woods for another 15 minutes or so. “Almost there,” she said, fondness and even a bit of excitement clear in her tone of voice.

A couple of minutes later, the pair emerged from the thick wooded area into a clearing, surrounded on all sides by trees just as close together. The place itself seemed to be almost surreal in its beauty. There was a small stream off to one side, ending in a pond near the edge of the small place. Ni stepped into the center of the peaceful place, and looked up at the sky. “I’ve come here many times, and never encountered another sapient being. I feel… closer to the sky here, strangely enough more so in a way than I do when I fly. Ah, I don’t think I’ve mentioned that I’m a pilot for the city’s airport.” Ni brought her gaze from the sky and turned towards Asha once more, smiling.

There were flowers and shrubs of many a variety growing freely here, and Asha might notice that they treated her a bit nicer than the ones in her shop. Suddenly wondering something, she tilted her head. “I’m curious, how are the plants here responding to you?” Ni asked. “I’ve a theory that, growing out in the wild here, they’re a bit happier than the ones in your shop, being surrounded by nature instead of the creations of humans. There is nothing wrong with growing them there, but as I said, I do think they will be happier sensing that you have come back to them from a more natural, serene place.” She smiled warmly, waiting for Asha’s answer.

Asha
"People like you are the reason I want to control life"

full

Asha was intrigued and she felt her anticipation caused her pulse to race. Will I really become better connected? she wondered, but as she got lost in her thoughts, she realized that Ni'Ara was already finished packing her things. Her words were kind and encouraging before she left the shop for Asha to finish closing.

There wasn't much that needed to be done, she counted the register with what little money she had earned and locked it in the safe (she had safely protected by a rather aggressive plant that scratched her on the wrist). Asha swatted back at the plant, but it did little good before it dove at her. "Just you wait for me to get back," she growled at it before picking herself up and dusting the dirt off her shorts. That reminded her that she needed to sweep the floor, but that could wait until later.

Asha finished her preperations with watering what plants needed watering or which ones yelled "I'm thirsty!" the loudest. It was about an hour later that Asha became panicked and worried that the woman had left as she rushed to grab her things and dart out the door. The bells jangled annoyingly as she slammed the door shut. She was relieved to see that Ni'Ara was still patiently waiting. I wish I had that kind of patience, she thought as she turned and locked her door. She had no alarms for the building, but, given the type of plants that lived in there, she saw no reason for one.

"Sorry it took so long," she replied slightly winded due to her rushing out those last few minutes. "I had to water the plants," Asha had a few scratches on her, but many had already started to heal since she was pretty much a plant as well. She smiled at Ni'Ara who had a calming smile and guided her to a rather sleek looking ride. Honestly, it fit the woman's style. "It is beautiful. Suits you well," Asha responded to her. She had never rode a motorcycle before, but she hated to inform the woman of another experience she was lacking. Taking the helmet, Asha fastened it on tightly, given she was a little nervous.

Ni'Ara was in a little bit of a rush it seemed, though her appearance didn't show it. Asha hopped on the bike, though a tad wobbly. She was overthinking the concept of what was holding on too tight and what was too loose, but as the bike took off, she no longer cared clung to Ni'Ara. She got used to pretty soon and felt the thrill of the ride, though the mountain pass was a little daunting.

As they arrived, Asha almost fell off the bike as she tried to get off. Her legs were like jelly as if they hadn't felt what it was like to walk for years. "I feel like I've been flying," she responded to Ni'Ara as the light headedness started to clear up. Ni'Ara guided Asha through the woods in silence, but it wasn't awkward. There was many whispers and questions about her, so it was hard for her to know that Ni'Ara wasn't talking.

Who are you? What are you? She can hear us. She looks so confused. What kind of elemental is she? It is like she has never seen the forest. Does she even know who she is? There were no jabs or cruel words, but the foliage seemed to know she was out of place like she had been raised in an artificial world all her life. I know I'm a failure, she thought, But maybe you can help me? she usually had to speak out loud to her plants, but she felt that the forest understood. It was skeptical, some of them, but there were many that seemed to encourage Asha and welcome her. Asha was soon brought out from her trance as Ni'Ara spoke.

"There is so many voices. A mix of curiosity, disdain and helpfulness. I feel like the plants wish to help me or at least some," she responded. "Even so, it might take more. I don't even remember being born or created. I have read stories and understand, but I don't recall anything," she informed Ni'Ara as she felt it would make a difference to her progress.
