Piper stood strong at the front of the back between the two signed one for transfer and one for dauntless born. She stood there with crossed arms in her black leather jacket as one by one the initiates fell into the net and picked their new names. She was nervous to make this speech, but you would have never guessed by the look of her, her face was stoic, her voice calm and even, and her eyes cold, she was the first person in dauntless they would meet and respect.

As they finished up and the instructors fell just like everyone else and bounced out of the net to take their place next to her. “Alright settle down and listen up!” Piper yelled over the crowd as they all slowly but surely quieted down and turn their attention to her.

“You all have just taken the first steps to joining our beloved faction. Starting now you will treat all of us with the highest level of respect for we have earned our right to be here, and we are taking the time to train and ensure that you all have the guts to join our faction.” Piper stated moving to the other side in front of the dauntless born.

“My name is Piper, you can either call me that or Ma’am. I’ll be in charge of your training, and selection of the final 12 initiates that can hack our process, and make it through to become functioning members of our society.” She continued moving over to the transfer side and looked out over them.

“I’m accompanied by your two instructors Atlas, and Ander. These three will be in charge of making sure you are not only physically fit, but mentally as well, teaching you the ins and outs of dauntless.” She moved back to the center.

“They will escort you to your living quarters now where you will find your new clothes, a shirt that says initiate so we can easily find you and black pants and jackets for you to change into. You will burn your old clothes and anything that came with you from your old faction. Because you belong to us now.” Piper told them seriously before giving a small nod to her instructors. “Please follow them, good luck. And welcome to dauntless.” She said with a small smirk before turning on her heel to leave and go to her office. She had a lot of paperwork to fill out, and things to do before the dinner that night, and she entrusted the initiates into their care

"Anyone else feel like we've just been sold?" Jade muttered to herself, one hand in her pocket. Nonetheless, she listened to the speech, and turned to the other instructor when he addressed the transfers.

Holy smokes... Sure, he was an older guy, but dang, he wasn't bad looking at all. Not that it mattered, of course, he had to be like twice her age. She watched him tease one of the other initiates, narrowing her eyes slightly. They looked vaguely alike, perhaps they were related somehow? The thought made her nervous - she knew she wasn't even close to being in a secure position, and she'd heard rumors about what happened to Dauntless initiates if they failed training. If the instructor gave that blonde guy leniency, she'd be in even more trouble than she'd thought.

She followed the hot instructor, pausing for a moment when he explained the housing situation. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me." She sighed, striding after the blonde initiate and finding a bed for herself. He didn't seem really fazed by the whole, being-almost-naked-in-front-of-strangers thing, but she most certainly was. What followed was the most awkward clothes-changing ceremony of her life, trying to put on the new clothes without showing any more skin than necessary. "You think they were serious about burning our clothes? That seems a bit dramatic." She noted, frowning slightly. Then again, these Dauntless guys seemed like they enjoyed going to the extremes. With a deep sigh, she gathered up her own clothes, walking out of the room.

Dani changed her name as soon as she hit that net. She was still in awe she had the guts to jump not once but twice, as well as even pick dauntless. Was she insane? She had to have been thinking she could make it in a place like this. But there was no going back, and to be honest she had never felt more free in her life then when she stepped off the top of that building.

She listened closely to Piper speak, figuring someone speaking like that might have something important to say. Cautiously she looked around, there were no other abnegation transfers that she saw, she was the only one. That didn’t bother her considering she knew it was rare. She looked and saw a few from amity, a lot from erudite and a lot from candor. That was all to be expected, when Piper finished they were led to large grey barracks almost where they were to change. Dani heard as the others complained about the beds, some quieter than others. She didn't think there would be much privacy, but this was a little extreme. All of her modesty from years that she had been taught was definitely going to be challenged, everything she knew was going to be challenged. But could she abandon it and make it here? She found a bed toward the front of the room next to an erudite boy, she looked around cautiously before trying to change showing the least amount of skin to anyone. It felt different, the leather of the jacket was strange against her skin, and she didn’t know how it looked.

She kept her hair in the same bun, and a small silver chain that her mother had given her when she was very small, hardly speaking to anyone, she didn’t want to get too friendly especially since most of these people didn’t seem to think she was going to make it. She folded her clothes neatly on the bed and waited for everyone else to finish. She tried not to make eye contact with anyone or stare, so she was left staring at the erudite boy’s bed.

This was how Cassiopeia new life was going to be from now on. There was going to be no more sitting round reading adventure in books, no. She was about to make her own adventure. The small female was rather proud that she was the first one to jump out of the initiates, she was ready to prove herself. Cassie was pulled from her thoughts once one of the instructors started talking, Axel she thinks his name was. She found it interesting that he had already picked one of the initiates to torment, maybe they knew each other.

"You can't have already picked your initiate to torment, Axel. It's barely been five minutes" Atlas said with a soft chuckle, shaking his head at the semi childish antics of his fellow Instructor. He took a moment to scan over the initiates while Axel was explaining things. Even though they didn't look like much he could see the potential in each of them, he enjoyed the little sparkle of determination that ways showed in the newbies eyes. Their desperation to prove they belonged there. But they were going to need more than that in order for them to actually be accepted as one of the 12. "You better be ready to fight for these spots. There are more of you than last year and not many spots" He spoke before joining Axel in leaving the room.

Cassiopeia knew that Dauntless was a bit controversial but the whole no privacy was a bit much. She picked the other bed nearest the door so she could get in and out quickly when needed. She found it a bit odd at how much stone there was it made the place feel kind of dreary. It's not like she expected the walls to be covered in bright yellows and pinks but a little bit of colour would be nice. Cassie quickly pulled on her new clothes and threw her old ones into a messy pile so she could get them into the incinerator quickly. She was a little sad to see them go but also glad to be apart of something so refreshingly.. Her. The females eyes flickered over to a boy she recognized as the one being taunted by the instructor and walked a little quicker to catch up to him. "You're from Erudite too, right? I think we had a few classes together. Whats with the instructor giving you so much crap?" she asked while tilting her head a little in a confused manor.

Once the Initiates had gathered back outside with their clothes Atlas clapped his hands together. "Now if you will follow me we will make a quick stop at the incinerator and then you can finally get some food in you. You'll need it" he motioned for them to follow while continuing his conversation with Axel. "So what do you think about this lot? Going to give us a hard time?" he mused, raising his brow towards the other male in a challenging way. The walk to the incinerator was short but sweet as the initiates were quiet for the most part which he thoroughly enjoyed. The male had to rip a jumper from one sobbing initiate and throw it in for her. He didn't understand what was so hard about throwing some old clothes away it's not like they were forcing these kids together.

Dani realized he was talking to her after she had burned her clothes. She threw away her life before to start anew, and hopefully it would stay that way. She unclasped her necklace and shoved it in her pocket cautiously before hearing the question. She kept her hand down and noticed as only a few hands went up, at least she wasn't alone. As they began to emerge from the bedroom and past the incinerator she noticed more and more girls. And all of them had taken their hair down, some had it out of braids so it was wavy.

Dani touched her hair gently, she wondered if she should do the same, so like an idiot she asked. "Should I...is there a regulation on how I have to have my hair?" she asked quietly more directed inward than anywhere else. She didn't let the nervousness she had making her stomach do flips show throughout her voice. It was even and calm like her demenor, another thing she had learned in abnegation since feelings were almost always thought of as selfish.

The clothes she was wearing was also starting to give her more and more confidence. This was really happening, and her fear, and nervous energy was quickly turned to excitement, and the excitement turned to determination as she thought more about the training and the cuts they would make. She didn't belong here yet, she was the underdog coming from abnegation, but she didn't care, this is where she wanted to stay for the rest of her life. This was real and if she didn't fight she wasn't going to make it. She had to pass, there was no option any more. The excitement turned to determination, she would do what she needed to pass. Including finding some friends and quickly.

Jade was one of the few who raised her hand when asked about throwing punches, remembering her few fights back in Amity. That had been more fun than anything, because even the guys back home had been easy pickings. She caught up quickly to the blonde guy who'd been speaking to the instructor, who had the nerdy look of an Erudite. "Why do I feel like this is either not going to be fun or it is going to be incredible?" She asked, grinning crookedly. "So, you're related to one of the instructors." She noted to the Erudite guy, unashamed of her eavesdropping. "This has gotta be interesting for you, then. Because, from what I've heard, the instructors don't pull punches for anyone, so your Uncle is going to beat the hell out of you several times." She noted.

Despite knowing that she was hopelessly out of her depth, she was excited for the training to start. She could see several others that looked weaker than her, including a girl who looked like she was from Abnegation. She wasn't in the top twelve, but she could work, she could get there. And she intended on it, because failure wasn't an option. She'd chosen a challenging route, and she had no intention of turning her back on a challenge just because it seemed hard.

x. Are we gonna tag each other every time- Because- You are all in mine

Atlas elbowed Axel in the gut lightly. "There's no need to freak them out with talk of fear landscapes. Don't doubt them so soon. If I remember correctly one of our first meetings you said that a pot plant is scarier than I.. and then I flipped you on your ass" he teased with a soft smile on his lips. If was when he was about ten so that would make Axel eleven. It was at his first official hand to hand combat lesson. Atlas was a small and scrawny boy so it was no wonder that Axel felt so confident when they were paired but due to that Atlas surprised him and managed to get him on the ground rather easily. These days the two men were rather equally good fighters with their own strengths and weaknesses. "Besides, we took this job for the challenge!" he said, puffing his chest out jokingly.

"It's Cassie by the way" Cassiopeia clarified seeing as they had all kinda changed their names. "An Uncle? Wow that's interesting. But I guess it's not uncommon to have family in other factions" she spoke but it was more like she was clarifying something to herself aloud. "Well it's not really supposed to be fun is it? Dauntless is our Army, our protectors. So obviously if we are going to be one of them we have to have the ability to protect others. It was never going to be about running around like idiots. It was always going to be grueling training so one day we can protect the others as well." Cassie said with a small shrug. "But the freedom sure is nice" she laughed softly.

The males steel blue eyes fell on the stiff as she spoke up. "You can have your hair how you like. I would recommend tying it back during combat in a way that it cant be grabbed and used against you" he advised, taking the time to think a bit. "It's one of the things you probably wont think of but if I was your opponent. Uh if you don't mind- Pay attention you lot" Atlas said as he stepped forward and put his hand on her bun. "Just let me know if it hurts as we are not training right now so that's not my goal" he clarified as he kind of threaded his fingers into her bun and gripped it but not in a way that would hurt. "With this I have easy control of her head" Atlas spoke, moving his hand so her head moved with it. "And with this position I have advantage over her I could easily smash her head into the ground. Keep that in mind when doing your hair and when facing another female in combat" he spoke, releasing her hair and stepping back to Axels side.

Dani was kind of in shock when she got an answer from the instructor. When he moved toward her she wondered if he could feel her heart being out of her chest, although she remained calm. He was a gentleman at least he seemed like it asking permission to touch her and of course making sure she would be okay with his tactics. "Yeah of course by all means." she said as he grabbed her bun and pulled her backwards by her head, she had lost control and although it hurt a small bit she wasn't about to wimp out in front of her entire class. She did have a flush in her cheeks though, she wasn't used to being touched at all, and she wasn't used to being the center of attention even if only for a minute. When he released her she faded back into the crowd ending up next to the erudite chick that couldn't seem to keep her mouth shut, the eruidte boy who her bed was next to, and the amity chick that didn't look so amity at all.

She untied her hair and retied it up into a pony tail, later, if she had time she would get it cut...changing her look to start a new chapter. But she would remember what he said about fighting other females, she would need every ounce of help that she could get, and to win fights because she was so small she would need to be fast and hit hard. At least that's what she assumed. She also assumed that to survive here she was going to have to start making some friends and fast.

When she was put in line next to those few people, she thought it might be best to introduce herself, "I think it's going to be wicked." she said almost awkwardly, the word wicked on her tongue felt weird but she had heard it from a few dauntless she had come into contact with. Her confidence began to show if only in small bouts she wanted to speak again but decided against it. In the end assuming most of them would have nothing to do with her. She wasn't strong, and she wasn't going to be first in the class, there was nothing that she had to offer them beside a good laugh.

Jade watched the lesson with a rapt expression, eyes wide with eagerness. She didn't care if she lost a few inches of hair, it got in the way anyways. She personally looked forward to that way of life, the piercings, the haircuts, the tattoos. It was just another way to make her lose her affiliation with Amity. "Oh, this is definitely going to be fun." She laughed, her entire body itching to get started, even though she knew she'd have to wait until the next day. Even if she failed training, she'd get to know that it wasn't because she didn't fit in with Dauntless, this was where she belonged, no doubt about it.

She paused for a split second when the dining hall was revealed, and her jaw dropped. Dinners in Amity were calm, peaceful affairs. Here, it was like a fight. People stealing food off of plates, pushing each other around, looking like they were having the time of her life. "Wow." She breathed, eyes wide as she looked around.

"It was a good tip. Besides I'm not the one who threatened to hang an initiate over the chasm while arguing about a slice of cake" Atlas pointed out with a bit of a huff. "It's combat training. You're gonna fall on your ass and get hit a few times. It's to be expected. Besides there is a odd number of you so someones going to be paired with one of us. You won't learn if we go easy on you. Besides your Uncles the one who plays bad cop. Makes all the men and women swoon~" he teased, nudging Axel towards their usual table.

"I'm sure we will be fine. They are just trying to scare off the weak links" Cassiopeia whispered to Lucas before entering the mess hall. "Okay I take it back.. This might be fun" she told the other three with a grin. The female sat herself at a mostly empty table and got stuck in putting her food on her plate. "Dani, how come you chose Dauntless? Its like the polar opposite" she asked with a curious expression. Being apart of Abnegation is bound to be pure torture, she couldn't understand why anyone would go to that faction. Sure the helping people thing was good but the diet? Pure torture. It's not like their head were going to explode with arrogance if they looked in a mirror once.

"What are you thinking you're giving me the look. You're not gonna try and sleep with one of them are you?" Atlas teased as he looked up at his friend. "Is it the stiff? because I was pretty certain you're gay or is that just what you want me to think so you can hide your secret initiate/instructor romance" the male spoke with a twinkle of mischief in his eyes. He enjoyed sitting and talking to Axel before they started getting stressed about training the new initiates.

Dani lined up for food, took what she wanted but not too much and noticed that everyone was staring at her, she guessed because she was a stiff, or used to be. She sat with the girl that she remembered was named Cassie. She didn't think it would be much of an issue, and since everyone was staring she mind as well give them no reason to talk.

When Cassie asked her that, she had to stop and think for a moment, she had picked one of the hardest factions to transfer into, and the only one to kick you out for not being good enough. "I um...it's not that much different now that I'm looking at it." She said as they entered the mess hall, it was huge, and yes it was way different than abnegation but everywhere was. "Anywhere I picked would have been a hard adjustment, I just thought that I should trust the test." Dani lied, her test told her to stay in abnegation, but she didn't want to keep the attention on her. And she couldn't have stayed there, not for the rest of her life, so she had to pass, there was no option any more. The excitement she felt when entering the dining hall turned to determination, she would do what she needed to pass.

"Why did any of us pick this place? It looks like you have to be insane even to attempt it."
she said looking around at the grandeur of the entire place. It was truly awe inspiring.

"Barber's on the third floor, so the tattoo parlor, if you guys want to get something before tomorrow."
she told the initiates as she was walking past them making sure they knew where they could go if they needed any last minute alterations to themselves. The leader had turned out a great feast for these newbies, to make them feel welcome. She headed straight over to the instructor table, taking a seat with them calmly. They were no doubt talking about first impressions and she was curious.

"So how did the first shock and awe go?" she asked her instructors.

Atlas put his hands up in mock surrender. "They asked a question and I answered it and showed why it's important. Besides treating them like babies isn't going to get them anywhere. I plan to try and get at least a good amount in this year" he said before eating some of his bun. "Maybe I will give you a run for your money as the 'scary' one this year" he mused before turning to Piper. "How are the rest of the dauntless initiates looking? Do we have much of a challenge" he asked, chewing on his bottom lip. If only they didn't have to be ranked with the dauntless initiates, it would be terrible to be kicked out of the place you grew up. There has been a few accidents with the chasm after the final decision which is always the worst. Atlas couldn't afford to think of the other initiates only his ones because they are the only ones that should matter to him.

Cassie nodded in agreement. "But then there are the ones who join dauntless when they didn't even get it in the test. Which is complete and utter suicide" she said, shaking her head softly. "It's going to be difficult competing with all these dauntless borns. I think I'm kinda looking forward to the fear landscapes. I want to learn how to get over my fears" she spoke thoughtfully before perking up at the mention of tattoos by Piper. "Do you think we will have some spare time tonight to get some tattoos? I have always wanted one" she smiled, scanning over the others expressions. "I mean she said before tomorrow so I think that implies that we have time to. Tattoos are apart of life here we might as well start. What do you guys say?" she asked, finishing up the rest of her meal.

Things were definitely going to be interesting, she just hoped that she would be able to get into the top numbers. Anywhere under ten would be a nice and secure place. But getting there in the first place is the real challenge and then there is the whole thing with staying in her spot. This was going to be stressful for sure

"They aren't anywhere close to what my group was, but you have a few legacies in there that will be tough to beat." Piper responded taking a bite of her burger and washing it down with some water. The food here was the best, especially when there were newbies, maybe it was to make a good impression, maybe it was to help them over homesickness, or maybe it was to give them something to look forward to before getting their asses handed to them on a silver platter.

"What did you do anyway who the hell did you assault?"
Piper asked him in a laughable way, she was joking, to be honest she trusted her instructors all of them. And their methods were sure to kick some of the initiates into high gear, and that's exactly what they needed. She watched as the initiates were talking amongst themselves, making friends, some of them would last and others wouldn't. She could already pick out at least five that wouldn't be there at the end just on looks and social skills alone. They didn't belong there.

Dani kind of laughed nervously when Cassie mentioned those who picked when the test didn't say they should be here. Then Piper came through, telling them about the barber, and the tattoo shop. She didn't want a tattoo, well it wasn't that, she was scared as all hell to get one. But she did need to cut her hair, after Atlas' demonstration she didn't want to know what would happen if someone that was trying to beat her got ahold of her. And as much as it would hurt on the inside, she knew it needed to be done.

"No thanks." Dani answered her query respectfully. "I'm good...but I do need to get my hair cut." she remarked out loud rather than in her head moving to finish most of her meal. It had been delicious and she did want more, but she knew if she ate too much she would be sick.

Jade grinned at the suggestion, looking over at one of the exits. "I'm totally in. If I'm going to fail, I'm going to fail knowing I had some fun first." She grinned, cracking her knuckles before looking at the blond Erudite guy. "What about you, brainiac? You wanna really cast aside that Erudite background?" She teased, nudging him with her shoulder. "I won't even make fun of you much if you cry." She laughed, taking a drink of water. She actually didn't mind these other initiates, especially Lucas himself, who, despite the Uncle situation, actually seemed like a cool guy.

"Hey, you, confident person. Where's the tattoo guy?" She asked the nearest person who looked like he had about ten years on her.

"Out that door, you'll find him, he's in the first door to the left." The guy answered, and she nodded.

"I know where we can get tattoos. I don't know what I'll get, but I'll figure it out." She shrugged, snagging an apple and taking a bite. "C'mon, Brainiac. Show us you're just as brave as us girls." She said, shaking him slightly.

"Shut up Mr tall dark and handsome" Atlas said as he elbowed Axel. "She asked if there were any rules about how you had to have your hair. I told her that she should either cut it or secure it to her head in a manor where it can't be grabbed. I asked her permission to see if I could show her what I meant before grabbing her bun and showing how vulnerable it makes you to attacks." He explained with a sheepish shrug. "Never too late to start teaching. Looks like they are going to get their tattoos" he mused, overhearing the girl ask where the parlor was. "Speaking of tattoos.. Axel you still dont have any.. Unless you count that rumor about the smiley face on your.." he trailed off and coughed, but still smirked at the dark haired male. "You know I would love to find out if that rumor is true" he taunted, enjoying to push his friends buttons.

"I read that it's kind of feels like when you press a pen tip into your skin. Barely hurts at all. you can get a little star or something. Be bold, be Dauntless" Cassie said cheekily with a wink. She then leaned over so she could whisper in her ear. "You can squeeze my hand if you want. You're the one people are doubting the most so prove them wrong and do something bold" she whispered to Dani before sitting up straight. "besides I have read everything there is to read about tattoos because I really like the idea of them" she beamed, nudging Lucas gently. "Come on, what could go wrong? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. No doubts or fears just doing" Cassie said as she stood up abruptly and headed to the tattoo parlor, becoming for the others to follow. She planned on probably getting her hair dyed afterwards. She just wanted something new that just screamed Dauntless.

Piper smirked, "They aren't true." she answered incurring some looks, she was only messing with them. She didn't know if they were true or not but she had connections everywhere and she had been told directly from the artist that Axel had never set foot in his shop, at least not while he was around. "As for teaching them, I don't care what you do, I trust your judgement and lord knows we all got roughed up in training, hell i hung over the chasm for shit that I didn't even know was wrong. They'll learn, and they'll learn quick or they won't make it here simple as that right?" Piper said taking a sip of her water and looking around the table of her instructors. They were some of her closer friends, but still most of them didn't kmnow a damn thing about her at all. And she liked it that way.

Piper watched as they all went out the door, a whole table of them, it made her heart kind of happy that they were becoming friends and going to embrace some of the dauntless culture. For all they knew this could be their last night here, and in the morning everything would change. "Look, look...even the stiff is going...think she'll get anything?" Piper asked wanting to know what they thought of what was probably going to be their biggest challenge yet.

Dani thought over her words as Cassie seemed to pick out her design, she was right there was really nothing to lose. If they couldn't make it here she would be factionless anyway, and no one cared about you there. And she was right, she needed to show that she belonged here in the most obvious of forms. "Alright...I'm in." she gave her a small smile, she was still nervous and seeing all the art on the wall in the parlor wasn't helping. She decided she wanted to be branded, by her new faction, so she went with this design 1524978434100.png in black and white. It was something simple and bold, she put it on the inside of her wrist so it was easily concealable. And when she got it she couldn't have felt more alive. It was the best decision she had made since dropping her blood on those coals.

Cassie beamed and gave Dani's shoulder a quick squeeze as she browsed the designs as well. There were so many to choose from and each one was more beautiful then the last. After a while she decided on a series of roses each in the next stage of blooming. She thought it was a perfect representation of how she is changing into the person she is supposed to be. "You'll see. This will be great! might as well have fun while we still have time" she pointed out while taking the picture off the wall. "I'd like this please" she said, handing over the picture as she sat down in the chair. The female scrunched up her nose a little as it started but soon got used to the odd feeling. It wasn't exactly painful more just and odd pricking feeling. "I was right. It doesn't hurt at all" she told Dani once he had finished working on her arm. "I love it, thanks" she smiled, sliding off her chair and joining the others. "Well.. Who's next?"

"He might just draw it on with a little sharpie everyday-" Atlas suggested as he hummed slightly. He knew it wasn't true as Axel has never once shown interest in getting a tattoo which was kinda odd but it doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea. "I know what it is.. Your fear from the fear landscape is commitment thats why you have never gotten one. Boom! nailed it" he decided as he helped himself to some of Axels cake seeing as he had finished his already. "What? I need to gain weight so people stop calling me cute" he said, defending his actions as he slowly slid the plate of cake towards himself. "the stiff getting a tattoo? not a chance" he chuckled slightly while continuing to eat Axels cake.

Ace Sterling

Everything was happening so fast. First the jump, then learning about their living quarters, changing in front of girls, talk about fighting each other, and something about fear landscapes? Guilt and regret washed over him as they were eating. Did he do the right thing? Should he had stayed in Candor. He brushed his emotions aside and decided there’s not point in thinking of such things now. He’s here. He’s dauntless. It’s time to be brave and face whatever comes next.

He decided on trying to focus on everyone's names. His father always said that names were important. Names are the first truth someone tells you. He went through everyone he’d just met in his head. Axel, Piper, Atlas; important. They are instructors. Lucus, Erudite, nephew of Axel. Jade, Amity. Cassi-something, Cassia-top?..Cassi-opie?...Cassie, Erudite. Dani, Amity? No a stiff. She’s from Abnegation. He would never forget the grey stiff that jumped before him. He thought on these names and factions for a moment and decided that it doesn’t really matter where they came from. They’re all Dauntless now and sort of a family. He realized because of his nerves and his need to pay attention to his surroundings, he hadn’t said much to anyone.

Ace was about to introduce himself when Cassie flew from the table and motioned everyone to follow her. He knew they were talking about tattoos before she abruptly stood up and left. Something he was extremely excited for transferring to Dauntless. He took a few more bites of his food and followed after the group to the tattoo parlor. When they walked inside, Ace was amazed at the technology and the beautiful designs. He flipped through the pages while one of the girls went first.

“Well...who’s next?”

Ace looked up from the book of tattoos and said “I’ll go!”, excitedly. “Can I get this?” He said picking up one of the books and showing it to the tattoo artist. It was a mountain rage with peaks and valleys of mountains. He thought it looked pretty manly, but it also perfectly depicted the emotions he’s been going through on his first day in Dauntless. “Nothing better than getting something permanent on my skin to remember the day I completely changed my life.” He said, laughing a bit too uncomfortably. He walked over to the chair to sit down and held out his arm. “Can I get it right here?” He said pointing to his right bicep.

Nervously, he closed his eyes and waited for the pain, but it didn’t hurt at all. In fact, it felt kind of good. He looked at his newly tatted arm and smiled. “Do you all like it?” He asked the girls that have already been tattooed, waiting for an honest answer.

Jade watched the others get inked, eyes narrowed slightly. Of course, Lucas, the nerd, got the biggest tattoo, and now she simply had to upstage him. "Full sleeve." She said, like throwing down a challenge. "And it's Jade, oh, Brainy one." She mocked the guy, who'd gotten onto her for not introducing her. Technically, it had once been Janie, but that was far more of an Amity name than a Dauntless name, and it had changed from the moment her blood hit those coals. A fresh start.

"Can I get this?" She asked, showing the artist the design she had in mind. Once Lucas was out of the chair, it was her turn. The most uncomfortable part was when the guy cleaned her skin with the wipe thing, just because she wasn't used to being touched much. She appraised Lucas and Ace as she was getting inked, wondering which would be a bigger challenge. Women weren't as physically strong, that was common knowledge, and they both looked like they were in decent shape. She had to beat at least one of them, and her money was on Ace. Lucas... Perhaps it was her imagination, but something about him told her that it would be far more of a challenge than she thought to beat him.

She zoned out for what must've been a while when she realized the artist was talking. "You're done." He told her, and she looked at her arm, which was now covered in colorful ink. She'd at first been against the idea of a floral tattoo, but there was an eagle attacking a butterfly, a wolf getting stabbed in the head with a knife, a knife that reminded her of the knife she'd used to kill the wolf in her test. It was a gruesome tattoo, disguised by a couple roses. She liked the appeal of it.

When Cassie touched her she pulled away slightly, the pda, and the touching. Still she watched as they all picked out their designs, some big, some small, color, black you name it. This seemed like a pretty interesting job, she could see herself here, if she had any sort of artistic ability. Dani smiled a little at the boys when they got tattooed, it was interesting to see the artists different reactions. To her she was more surprised than anything that a stiff was getting a tattoo. When they were done she looked down at her wrist, it was something that would forever be there, and yet she had no regrets. She was estatic especially since lord knows if they would get through this.

"Wow...That's really nice Jade."
she complimented the amity girl who looked like she had been born here. It surprised her that someone from amity had made such a quick adjustment. She was still getting used to everything herself, even though it had been hours it felt like she had to play catch up, and she assumed it would feel like that for a while.

"Cassie...did you or Jade want to do anything with your hair because I'm going to run next door to cut mine. And I wouldn't mind the company."
She told the girls kind of backing toward the door. She didn't know how much time they had, and didn't want to be caught tomorrow without it done.

Piper laughed a little at the two, she knew they would make a great dynamic between the two. "I wonder what she would get, something's telling me she's going to prove all of you wrong." Piper said finishing her food, she knew better than to underestimate anyone from abnegation or any transfer for that matter. If they had enough determination and the right mindset, they could do anything they set their mind to.

"She might surprise you, hell they might all surprise you. And it's your job to coax out that surprise...good luck."
Piper smirked.

Cassiopeia hummed slightly as she held his arm gingerly so she could properly look it over before her blue eyes flickered to his face. "I do. I think it suits you. I'm assuming its either to represent change like mine or something like you emotions. Because I don't know about you but mine are definitely up and down like mountains." she told him with a light laugh as she let go of his arm. "I don't believe I got your name? I'm Cassiopeia, Cassie for short" she said before running her fingers over another tattoo design. "I'm definitely getting a few more. You know what would be interesting.. Getting a tattoo for each cutoff survived. Something we can look back on and be proud of when we get through. Because I don't know about you but there is no way I'm leaving.." Cassie paused and gestured to what was around them. "All this" she finished her sentence with a small laugh.

"Hey, I'm counting on being surprised. That's the fun part! You never wanna be proved right by your first impressions of our lot" Atlas pointed out as he happily ate the rest of the cake. "Axel.. You're too much of a twink for me. I just find that complimenting you gets under your skin more than an insult would. Swinging both ways just gives more opportunity" he said with a small shrug before pushing away his now empty plate. "I just happen to think that you would look more attractive with a tattoo. Besides it's dauntless culture! Piper, you gonna come get another?" he asked, getting up and kind of dragging Axel with him before he could change his mind about getting a tattoo.

Cassie hummed slightly at the mention of changing her hair, twisting a lock of light brown around her finger. "For sure. Light brown is not me anymore. I'm thinking.. Red" she beamed before heading out the door and walking straight into Atlas who was hurriedly dragging Axel in the parlor.

"Uh- Sorry" Cassie spoke quickly and stepped back kind of flustered with a tint of red coming over her cheeks.

"Not to worry" Atlas brushed the collision off, more focused on getting Axel in before he could change his mind. His eyes flickered over all the initiates stopping lastly at the stiffs. He couldn't help a look of surprise come over his expression. "God piper was right- Come on Ax even a stiff got a tattoo before you" he said before letting the males arm go and looking over the designs. "Hey look. We could get matching screaming bears to represent your inner teenage angst" he said, holding it up for him to see.

Jade followed Dani and Lucas, more out of boredom than real interest in getting the haircut. Moreso, she was interested in seeing what Lucas would do, since he seemed to be in the mood to push limits. She watched him get the haircut, raising an eyebrow when it was finished. "Wow. I hate to admit it, but... You look kind of hot." She laughed. "Dark hair, tattoos... Gain some muscle mass, and you might start looking like you belong in Dauntless, any day now." She smirked, looking at the barber. "Keep the hair on top, shave the sides." She said, running her hand through her hair. Unfortunately, the creepy Atlas guy was right - having long hair was a danger in a fight, and she intended on getting in a lot of fights. Then again, the first person to grab her hair would be losing a couple limbs.

Minutes later, her hair was short, cut in an undercut style that would be far more convenient in a fight. When she stood, she looked in the mirror, tilting her head slightly. "If my mother could see me now." She mused, messing with her newly-shortened hair. "She'd kill me. Right after lecturing me about the evils of Dauntless barbarians." She scoffed.

"Oh Axie you how you wound me." Atlas rolled his eyes as he ran his fingers over the different stencils. "Just because you're the straightest man I know. Besides I think I'm gonna lean towards females for a while. They males here can get a bit too intense" he said, shivering involuntarily at the thought of his exes. The males eyes flickered over to the tattoo on his hand. "That is such a you tattoo" he mused, slipping into one of the other chairs. "Have I converted you to the tattoo life yet?" he asked as another artist got to work on his other arm.

Cassie slipped into the hairdressers chair with a sort of childish grin on her face. "Give me something.. Dauntless. But keep it long, I'm not really a short hair kinda girl" she said, relaxing into the chair as they got to work on her hair. The female had decided that she could just braid her hair tightly in a sort of crown around her head so it couldn't be easily grabbed. As long as she secured it to her head tight enough she would be as safe as anyone could get without going bald. When the hairdresser was done Cassie examined her new hair in the mirror, it kind of looked like flames. It was perfect. At Jades mention of someone looking hot she looked over at the two. "Jesus she's not wrong. You do look a lot more attractive without the mop of blonde hair" she said, pulling off the cape and sliding out of the chair. "I know what Atlas said but I figured that braiding it in a tight crown will be pretty much the same as having short hair. Besides, I wont let them get close enough to be able to grab it" she said cheekily as she joined the other two. "Well.. Whats next?"

Atlas flexed his left arm as he examined the fresh tattoo on his arm. "What are your thoughts?" he asked, holding out his arm so Axel could see it better. As much as they gave each other shit he was one of his best friends and valued his opinion. Besides he could always just punch him for being a douche. "Also how should we start tomorrow? The usual teach them some basic then set them on each other and see where there biggest weaknesses are?" he suggested, tilting his head slightly like a confused puppy would.

Dani watched heard the instructors call her a stiff again, she knew she would get that here but it was really starting to piss her off. She backed out the door to go to the barbers and watched as the other girls got their hair cut and commented on Lucas' transformation. One of them seemed to look at her for input, and not wanting to be rude she quietly and politely said, "It does look really nice." she didn't want to be too forward, she was also conciously avoiding looking in the mirrors even when she sat down to get her hair cut. It was a learned reaction, something that could be undone but would take a while. "I guess I'm up." she said with a small smile, she was nervous, of course she had cut her hair before but this time was different.

"Um...just short, not super short but short enough for me to throw into a bun..."
Dani told the barber politely. The girl began messing with her hair and looking at it.

"About here?" she asked, before noticing the girls eyes were closed. "Open your eyes stiff it's alright, here okay? And do you want any color?" she asked the girl with a small smirk before getting her scissors out like an expert at her trade.

"Yes ma'am that's fine...as for color..."
she trailed off as she looked at the other two girls, could she really go that far? Why the hell not, "Maybe a deepish purple?" she asked the barber who nodded and promptly made it happen. This wasn't something she could have ever done back home, and it was interesting to see what she looked like after although she was only taking the smallest of glances into the mirror. It was gorgeous, just what she wanted. She got out of the chair and noticed they were kind of staring at her, of course she had looked at them when they got their hair cut but she didn't like being the center of attention. The only way she thought to make the situation less awkward was to ask.

"What do you think?"

( CtrlAltDelicious CtrlAltDelicious @everone that plays an initate)

Piper thought for a second, "Sure I'll come and watch axel get tatted, maybe get one for myself." she smirked as she followed the boys up to the parlor. Their real work didn't start until tomorrow so surely she could do this tonight. She walked in and watched as one of the initates slammed into Atlas, and they all went to get their hair cut.

"Nice tat stiff." she commented as the girl backed out of the door. She didn't say anything back, but it was nice to know the girl had some guts. Piper looked at all of the designs in the book and finally settled on one to go on the back of her neck, at the nape. "Not that big this time, simple." she told the artist who oblidged and left her with something nice looking.

"What do you guys think?" Piper asked the boys lifting her ponytail up for them to see and admiring the artist handiwork in the mirror.

Ace was taken aback by Cassie’s touch. Her fingers felt soft on his skin and he smiled. He’d never spent much time thinking about girls in Candor. He didn’t have time between studying and family obligations. He was extremely nervous and awkward around girls, especially ones as pretty as Cassie. When she looked up at him her blue eye took his breath away. She asked his name, and for a second he forgot.

“I...um, it’s...uh, Ace. My name is Ace Sterling. Nice to meet you Cassie.” He stuttered out, stupidly. He blushed in embarrassment “And yeah exactly, the mountains feel like my emotions today. Up and down like the peaks and valleys.” He smiled, feeling a sort of comradery with her. They were both initiates after all. They’ve spent their whole lives in a different faction and completely uprooted their lives to be Dauntless. “I’m surprised it didn’t hurt like most people say.” He said with a slight chuckle. “Now I’m slightly addicted. My head is flooded with a million tattoo ideas.”

He admired all the tattoos around him. Everyone had picked at tattoo that reflected their personalities perfectly. “Getting a tattoo for each cuttoff survived is such a great idea! I’d be more than willing to come with you!”

The group moved on to the barber shop and a Ace followed them mostly because he didn’t remember how to get back to the sleeping quarters. He didn’t, however want to change his hair. He watched as his initiate group completely changed their looks. He loved the choices they made for themselves. He couldn’t help but watch Cassie as her hair turned into fire. She watched he hairdressers every move in his seat as she got her hair done. He couldn’t help but take his eyes off her.
