It has been thirty years since the Emperor was defeated above the planet of Endor.
The first order rears it's head and destroys the Hasnia system effectively destroying the New Republic or so they thought. Those that listened to Senator Leia got away before the system was destroyed.
They got together near the unknown regions and formed the Outer Republic. Once they were ready they start the war on their terms. Much like their predecessors launching hit and run tactics. Among their first missions was rescuing the stranded Resistance members.
