Note: The following is inspired by the soon-to-be released High Republic stuff. This RP takes place 100 years after, giving us some wiggle room for more creativity.
101 BBY. One hundred years after Chancellor Lina Soh's campaign to spread the Galactic Republic's influence into the Outer Rim, a special Rescue & Exploration Team is sent into the far reaches of space. Under the command of current Chancellor Utrili, their mission is to find the lost pioneers that spearheaded Soh's outreach programs; many of whom were stranded after The Great Disaster plucked them out of hyperspace indefinitely. This team is picking up where their predecessors left off under a new campaign called: Operation Life Raft.
The Separatist Rebellion
A series of terrorist attacks across Core and Mid systems from 108-107 BBY sparked an investigation that lead to the eventual Separtist War in 106 BBY. This war between the Galactic Republic and the Unified Independence Armada lasted for three and a half years. Independent star systems that opposed the Galactic Republic's expansion revolted in solidarity, and made their statement known through a series of galaxy-spread attacks on key Republic systems. This was all coordinated by a Triumvirate of powerful criminal overlords, defected high ranking republic officers, and a combined fleet of UIA systems. Midway into the war, it was discovered by the Jedi Council that Darth Atrigan and his Illusive Sith had orchestrated this conflict in hopes of dismantling the senate, forcing the galaxy into chaos, and ushering in a Sith Order to rule in its stead. Darth Atrigan was felled by Jedi Master Yoda on Coruscant, which triggered a domino affect that collapsed the UIA stratagem, eventually forcing their retreat and surrender.
The Galaxy's Current State of Affairs
The Separatist War has ended in favor of the Galactic Republic. Most of the independent systems have conceded to Chancellor Utrili's terms, though there's still several rebellious pockets of hostility scattered throughout the Outer Rim. We are in a rebuilding phase, trying to pick up where Chancellor Lina Soh left off by helping star systems in need, and finding lost expedition crews--some dating as far back as The Great Disaster. Though the major conflict has ended, the Mid and Outer Rim's infrastructure is in a state of disarray. The Jedi have spread themselves out within these territories, doing their best to maintain law and order, while hunting down the remains of the Illusive Sith, who've gone into hiding.
The Jedi Order
The history between the Jedi Order and The Galactic Republic was always in a state of flux, but their cooperated efforts—led by Supreme Chancellor Utrili—has rekindled a partnership for the better. They have reactivated their ExplorCorp of Jedi to work in tandem with Republic Fleets, establishing diplomacy in the Outer Rim at a rapid pace. A branch of Guardian Jedi actively pursue any Sith leads, as they are dedicated to eliminating the corruption left behind by Darth Atrigan.
The Illusive Sith
After the death of Darth Atrigan, the Illusive Sith abandoned their lord's plan and immediately went into hiding. Most of its members were either hunted down or imprisoned. There is still an on-going investigation as to how deep they've infiltrated the Galactic Republic, as many believe not all of the Sith's agents have been identified.
Mandalore
Mandalore has remained neutral throughout the Separatist Rebellion, mainly due to its pacifist government called New Mandalorian, which was established ten years before the war in 116 BBY. Victory favored the Galactic Republic, and New Mandalorian sent out emissaries to broker peace. There is a rival sect that long opposed their government's peaceful stance, and went as far as joining the UIA in opposition to the Jedi, whom they share a troubled history with.
