History: Not much is known about Zenima prior to him turning 11 years old. Any memories past that point are obstructed despite Zenima’s best attempts to crack it. Growing up, he learned how to fend for himself as he had never met his parents. Joining a mercenary group referred to as the Dawn Rose, he made a name for himself until he turned 15, when his Arcane Blood power awoke. Seizing the opportunity to distinguish himself from his comrades, Zenima took to perfecting and pushing against any boundaries his new magic presented before him. Eventually this earned the attention of Headmaster Richard Ophidian who offered for him to learn about his power at the university. Naturally intrigued, Zenima accepted and made his way to the university in order to figure out how best to use his new gifts, as well as uncover his lost memories.

Hair: Coca Brown; often an unbrushed mop that tickles the tips of his ears and nape of his neck.

Physical description: Mesomorphic build; has flab rather than abs.
Forgotten scars litter his sunkissed fingertips.
Sunspots decorate his arms and shoulders like a snake coiled around a pole, but usually they rarely see the light of day with the layers of rags he adorns.
He never seems to be found without his handknit scarf wrapped cosily around his neck; underneath lies a trinket of his deity -- Rithmur.

Typical equipment:
  • Light Armour - A weathered iron chestplate that came as set with greaves and vambraces; it doesn't get polished regularly, unlike his steelcapped boots. He always plans to buy new ones.

HISTORY


History:
  • A period of peaceful and mundane youth in the small hamlet that was Naryssia. Unfortunately he found it his sole duty to break that harmony whenever he could, and thus had been dubbed Coal.
  • This had been the first time he experienced drowning. The sheet of ice atop of the river near Naryssia could't hold the intense thumping of his boots. But it was also the first time he discovered the word 'soul-mate'.
  • Few years down the road, Coal had found a new purpose in the port city of Mesmal; new lands, salty air, decent pay, and his heart by his side. Well, usually, unless they were too seasick to stay up on the deck.
  • This had been the first time he decided to listen to the stars, which his heart had helped him opened his ears. And it had been at that moment Coal thought meaningfully of the word 'Rithmur'.
  • The second time he nearly drowned was no near land; the raging green sea and the deafening cracks of thunder had taken a piece of him away.
  • Coleman travelled by sea and/or by land; from helping with casual work in villages to rough and tumble mercenary work. However, there always seemed to be gaps in his finances and memories.
  • This had been the time where he believed (or hallucinated) that a deity had made contact with him; but most importantly, he received a memory.

  • Coleman had almost trashed the letter from the prestigious Rodren University for he wasn't a man of magic -- it was only recent that he had been gifted with such responsibility. Again, it was either misplaced luck...or a chance.

Personality
Rhea can be a generally very energetic girl always trying to prove herself. She always is seeking to have something to do, not being the type who enjoys just sitting around doing nothing or reading being very antsy to move around. The only times she tends to sit still is when she is distracted by food or finds herself napping. She can get a bit of a temper, often throwing a fit if she is teased making her act more brash in response often leading to her causing more trouble. She can be quite stubborn to a fault not being one to simply give up.

Rhea has a desire to fit in, being generally an outcast most of her life. While she seeks the attention and company of others, she has a tendency to be cautious harboring doubt about people's intentions with interacting with her. While she tends to act aggressive and feigns not caring about what others thing about her, the opposite is true as she tends to take reject quite personally and can get very upset about being picked on. As stubborn as she can be, it still can weigh down on her not being able to master things. While often shown as frustration it can drag her down quickly leaving her quite upset in private. She prefers to keep her feelings to herself often lying about her true feelings and finding it hard to open up to others.

Background
Rhea was adopted at a very young age by an elven wizard named Cyran Valqen after the death of her father Niko Eichenwald. Being a family friend he saw it as his responsibility to try and take care of Rhea in her parents stead and protect her given her abnormal nature. The two moved away from the city electing to make a living instead outside of civilization taking up residence in the country side a short distance from a small mostly human village of Esterook. He saw to raise Rhea in part out of a sense of guilt seeing it as a way of redeeming himself and giving the young child a chance.

Growing up, Rhea found herself the center of quite a lot of teasing and bullying. In town she often was teased about her ears by the other children while many of the adults often looked at her pessimistically. Cyran often tried to keep Rhea from town though she always wanted to visit often sneaking her way to town in his cart or pestering him to let her go. Despite all the bullying she still attempted to always play with the other children just happy to have others her age to play around with even if it meant being teased in the process. As she got older Rhea began to manifest her abilities able to elicit the dark aura unintentionally. Cyran was able to notice it and started to teach Rhea basic magic in hopes of having her learn to control it with.... often mixed results. It was clear rather early on that Rhea would have trouble learning magic though Cyran none the less continued to teach her.

Outside magic Rhea learned quite a number of survival skills from Cyran. While a wizard by trade, Cyran was quite knowledgeable with hunting and using the spear, traits he learned at a young age as an elf living out in a much more secluded area, and still hunting for a good portion of the food the two ate in an effort to minimize the need to go to town. Rhea went on many trips into the woods often spending days with Cyran learning the basics of survival and how to provide for herself. It was often on those trips Cyran who also further teach Rhea magic. As the years passed Rhea managed to get a grasp on magic. While she still had issues with control she had greatly improved after so many years of training. Wanting to give Rhea a chance, Cyran managed to use his sway to get Rhea into Rodren University.

Skills
Agile: Rhea is very agile from her time living in the forest from hunting and climbing. She can be quite flexible as well, fitting into places that might normally be more difficult to get to. She is very quick on her feet when she needs to be.
Strength: Rhea has shown herself to be quite strong given her size. She is capable of carrying a good bit of weight and handling things most might have difficulty with. While she isn't going to compete with the most physically adapt person in terms of her physical prowess she can do quite good on her own.
Close Range Combat: While not one who has dealt with duels with people all that much, her experience with a spear for hunting has her quite capable of protecting herself. She knows how to throw a punch of needed to get herself out of trouble. She might not be the most refined, but something is better then nothing
Perception: While she might not like her extra set of ears, they are just one feature that lends itself to her ability to observe things. The ears on her head give her a greater scope of hearing then just her normal human ones, able to pick up more distant sounds as well as being better aquanted to telling the exact direction. She has a rather sharp vision honed in by her eyes. She is good at detecting smell, though not to the point of having a dog light sense of smell, no matter what others might tease her about it.
Survival: Living out in the woods Rhea knows how to manage to spend the night without having much to work with in the wild. She can make a fire if needed without the use of magic and knows many of the basics. She is no expert but if your not looking for a long trek in the wilds without supplies she is more then capable of knowing what to do.

Weaknesses
Rhea is quite unrefined in the way she acts not being organized in her behavior. While she can do things decently well, she tends to act much more brashly rarely planning things through and as such can encounter self created hurdles she has to deal with in the process.

While her extra features can give her some better senses, outside the social stigma they hold they also can cause drawbacks. Her extra ears in particular can be quite sensitive to touch making it quite easy to hurt them if roughly handled. The enhanced form of hearing comes at the cost of certain loud sounds being crippling to her and much more effective on her then a normal person. Having an extra set of ears makes covering her ears that much harder as well requiring more then just her hands to accomplish.

A simple spear mostly made for hunting. The spear is designed to be used either in close range or to be thrown. It can be used one handed although when used as a melee weapon it is best used with two hands.

A simple knife meant for general use rather then for fighting. It still would hurt to be stabbed by it.

Due to the nature of her magic, Rhea has control in both learning magic as well as being able to properly control it. Her spells have a tendency to backfire or lose control relatively easy requiring more training for her to minimize such a risk.

Dark Aura
She possess a dark aura, something that can be detected rather easily by those with the ability to do so. Due to her aura, she has a resistance to dark(negative) energy although she is more susceptible to Light(positive) energy. Certain forms of healing magic can potentially harm her rather then heal her.

Basics
Name: Maki Iskval

Height: 5’9

Hair: Long, black, silky hair that reaches all the way to her waist area - though most often seen tied up and covered with cloth so that it would not get in the way of her everyday actions.

Eyes: Golden and fox-like, they seem to be pierce the very soul should it happen to gaze upon you.

Physical description: Often described as slender and tall, Maki carries herself in a dignified manner no matter what she wears but knows when to lay low if she must. Pale skin that never seems to darken under the sunlight. The tattoo of a moon scarred onto her back. A necklace of Emoldina always found hanging around her neck. Two fox ears peek out of her hair. Nine tails often swirl behind her but can be retracted to take on a more human form.

Typical equipment:
  • Leather Armor and Cloak
  • Throwing Knives - Hidden in her person are a dozen throwing knives that are used mainly for self-defense
  • Herbology journal- Given to her by one of the priests, she made a habit of carrying it around to study on her off time.

Personality
Personality: Generally a level-headed person, Maki seems rarely bothered by things that are sent her way - neither praise nor insult would garner any reaction other than a polite smile and maybe a retort. She does not care for the opinions of those who she is not close to. Strangers will be strangers. People will talk. It is her job to ignore them should it come to that. She is far from arrogant - simply pragmatic. It is a waste of energy to constantly fret about something you cannot change. However, whenever Maki bonds, she is often serious about it. Her trust may be hard to obtain but she is fiercely loyal to those who have earned it. Though typically honest, Maki is not above lying for the good of all. Because of her rather passive and neutral attitude, spotting when she is lying is rather difficult. Maki is quite an actress - donning mask after mask if the situation need be.

Maki is unnaturally curious - and she's willing to go to the far and beyond to find out what she yearns for. Though whenever she learns, she typically stays quiet about it. She does not like sharing what she wants to learn to others; whether this is because she is afraid someone else will take it or because she wants to be left alone, it is unsure. She cares not for laws and taboos once she's set her eyes on something. She is careful, however, as she knows of the consequences should she be caught. Trying to fester down the flame of curiosity would only yield to a much brighter flame and a much more determined Maki.

The Mundane
Skills:
  • Herbalist - Knowledgeable about the various herbs that can be found in both kingdoms, she uses them to make medicine should her magical prowess be lacking for the betterment of her patient.
  • Cooking - She has been known to make quite a number of edible dishes from what she can scrap from her surroundings. It’s better to not ask about the ingredients she uses.
  • Sharper Senses - Being a kitsune has its uses such as the better sense of smell and hearing that comes along with her physiology
  • Ancient Languages and Runes - Maki has a significant amount of knowledge when it came to ancient languages and their corresponding runes. This is mostly because of her time off where she reads through the extensive amounts of books and texts found in their libraries, especially those that talk about the deities.

Strengths:
  • Marksman - Maki has always been a great shot with anything so long as she has the capabilities of throwing it
  • Fleet-Footed - Being fast on her feet is the key to victory, she is agile like the animal she shares traits with.
  • Reaction Time - In tandem with her sharper senses, she is more aware of the environment around her and can react accordingly and timely to any disturbances around them.

Weaknesses:
  • Close Ranged Combat - Due to her focus on magic and sharpshooting, she has neglected to train in the arts of fighting in close range. Easily disarmed, she typically makes distance before she attacks again.
  • Sensitivity - Due to her sharper senses, anything that would be too loud to the average human is also amplified to her, causing it to be a distraction, or at worst, destructive.
  • Secretive - Maki tends to withhold information that she deems ultimately destructive to another person’s mental health - even if this information would have greatly helped at times of need.

Arcane Power Source: Arcanus Ambrosial [Priestess of Emoldina]

Abjuration: Abjuration is a school of magic that deals in protective spells and the suppression of others' magic. Magic of this school creates physical or magical barriers, negates magical or physical abilities, harms trespassers, or even banishes the target of the spell to another plane of existence.

Conjuration: Conjuration focuses on summoning magical effects and creatures.

Necromancy: Necromancy is sometimes referred to variously as the dark arts or death magic. It deals with the manipulation of the essential life force which infuses all living things. Its darker aspect is the creation and control of undead creatures.
History


History: Maki had spent her first few years in the wilds of the Darkwood Forest - abandoned. She was unsure of what had happened to her parents and even up to now, she has no idea what had happened to her parents who had ultimately disappeared on her. Nevertheless, she had somehow survived through the help of wanderers and other animals. But of course, a young girl like her wouldn’t have been able to truly survive for long without elongated amounts of help that no one would give to her. By the age of 6, she was already succumbing to the sweet embrace of death.

In her daze and delusion, or perhaps it was a dream after she had passed out from exhaustion, she had envisioned a mysterious figure with a disembodied voice. The apparition itself exuded the kind of aura that sent chills down her spine. She had been more than ready to run away if she could - but she could not. The apparition spoke of a life of servitude in exchange for her life. She was not given a choice, to be honest, as she woke up - completely dressed and in a bed. Apparently, a follower of Emoldina had been travelling through the woods and encountered the kitsune and decided to take her with him. When questioned why, he offhandedly said that Emoldina had sent him a vision of it. He taught her what needed to be learned and then brought her to Xandria where she was left to the care of the temple.

There, she was fashioned to be a follower of Emoldina which she had readily accepted. Anything to get out of the harsh conditions of the wilds. Despite the selfish thinking she had once adopted when she was first taken in, Maki turned out to be quite the follower. She worked hard each day to please the mistress of the afterlife and she always said that it was a pleasure to serve such a wonderful and honorable deity. Years have been put into her service. While it was true that she spent most of her time inside the temple or on pilgrimages, Maki had traveled to the other cities and has seen the social stigma in all of its glory and horribleness. This was what made her put up a wall of steel and passiveness.

Even among the priests and priestesses in Xandria with her, Maki had always been more of a natural with the magic. Perhaps it was because Emoldina herself had appeared before her when she was young or perhaps it was because of her kitsune heritage or perhaps it was because she stayed up all night to hone her magic - no matter the reason, this has caught the attention of Headmaster Ophidian as well as the suspicion of another teacher due to her interest in necromancy and its more... illegal practices. This invitation had two purposes: To both hone her magical prowess and to stop her from delving into the darker part of the magic.

Name: Erisx Gurganeel
Often affectionately called "Eris", for humans have a difficulty pronouncing "Erisx" correctly.
Gurganeel translates roughly to "red death" in Draconic.

Race: Half-Elf (Father was a human, Mother was an elf)

Kingdom of Origin: Elduen, Rendalia

Height: 6'1"

Hair: The youth has a head of short and fuzzy ginger hair. It's cut close to his head, like perhaps he's growing it out after his head was shaved. The front and top of it is longer than the rest, and it's most short by his pointed ears. His hair is surprisingly soft to the touch.

Eyes: Eris' eyes match his hair eerily well, an odd orange-amber color with lighter flecks of a copper color. They seem to glow when gazing into a source of light.

Physical description: Eris is not what you'd expect for the offspring of a mighty warrior. He's rather tall and has a sleeker build than you'd expect from a human. He isn't exactly buff, despite the years of training he's endured, remaining skinny as a beanpole... however, there is some raw power behind those slender limbs. Eris has tanned skin from constant exposure to the sun, and has odd dark grey "freckles" splashed across his cheeks. They aren't moles, it isn't acne, nor is it some form of disease, they just behave like freckles should. Eris has no idea why they're there, and gets rather embarrassed when anyone mentions them. His features are soft, yet angular, and his ears are slightly pointed. Moving on from his face and overall build, Eris seems fairly normal. If one looks closely on his back and squints really hard, there's a faint outline of almost a diamond pattern along his back, and there's a unique, hardened texture to the touch. He's rather ticklish here. Eris does have one nasty battle scar. He was on an investigation with a group of his friends, trying to find a certain "black wolf" that had been taking sheep. They'd found its lair and gone into the caves, before Eris had been separated and encountered the creature alone... he has a particularly nasty bite mark on his left shoulder from where it missed his neck and landed there. His screaming attracted his friends and he was saved, but the beast got away...

Typical equipment: Eris' usual attire is a steel breastplate with lighter boots. It's a weird mix of a heavier armor and light armor... frankly, he can't afford to get a full set. He does not wear any kind of helmet or hood, but does have a pair of blacksmith googles that he'll stick on when in combat to protect his eyes from heat. Eris doesn't really carry much on his person. He has a backpack of rations, a whistle, some rope, and an herbal remedy to fight off colds. The one weapon he does have is a silver greatsword, one he can barely swing, much less effectively wield. He struggles to raise and hold it in the usual stance.

Personality: Eris is a rather sweet and nervous person. He's cheerful and all smiles, and cares a lot more for his friends than himself. He's a passive person, not liking conflict of any kind, preferring to talk it out instead of get violent. Despite his large size, Eris is easily intimidated by people in power. He is eager to please, wanting everyone to like him, no matter who it is. Eris needs to be needed, and has the tendacy to "vanish" if he doesn't feel like people need him around. Eris does enjoy being around other people, but is just as content with his own company as well. Eris enjoys animals and likes to try and draw them (albeit he's not good at it yet) as well as talk to them quietly. Eris can be kind of a dorky weirdo, but he's the most reliable, loyal friend that you'll meet. If he befriends someone, he'll keep coming back, no matter what.

Likes: Eris enjoys the arts, does like some sports, but only as a hobby. He enjoys listening to bards and exploring new places. He's fine alone or with company. Eris isn't the most comfortable in his own skin, rather modest and ticklish. Needless to say, he's not affectionate, he does like hugs, but strangers are a no no.

Skills: Eris' best skills are cooking and listening. He's an amazing listener, remembering little details and going above the Beyond to incorporate them into little gifts he collects when he thinks of others. Upon this, Eris can whip up an amazing meal out of almost nothing. Eris does have medical training, nothing magical- but he can clean and stitch wounds decently.

Strengths: Eris has a high resistance to fire, and is rather hardy in combat. He's not really a fighter as much as he is a protector and talker. He's sensitive and a kind person, going out of his way to make others happy. Eris is rather wise in his decision making and perceptive when it relates to other people. He may not Be the smartest or strongest, but he's determined and loyal- always ready to support his teammates in times of crisis.
In terms of power, Eris has an uncommon mix of magic with Evocation and Divination that's rather unexpected. Behind his sweet face is a lot of raw power that is ready to burst from him. Eris has an incredible gift of fire, and an ability he calls fire-sight. Eris recieves visions from looking into open flames, varying from stories of the past, random present occurrences, to even glimpses of his future. Eris' combat magic has enormous potential with such raw power behind it.

Weaknesses: Eris is no fighter. He should be, but he isn't. He's not violent enough to be a truly devestating fighter, too worried about hurting other people. He need constantly attention and reassurance, but his biggest weakness is cold. Eris has never been able to function during winter. Ever since he was young, Eris has been more suspectible to the cold... to the point where he passes out in a certain chiliness. Because of this cold vulnerability, Eris isn't a swimmer unless it's bitterly hot.

Hobbies: Cooking, poetry, drawing, enjoys a bit of a workout to start each day, and hanging out with animals or his companions.

History: Eris was born to an Elf and a Human within a More countryside city. His Father, a human, was a particularly powerful man and expected his son to be the same. He worked for everything he had, and wasn't going to let Eris coast. From a young age, he was teaching Eris to wield a sword and working the poor kid to his limits. This gave Eris a shaky relationship with his father, and a better relationship with his mother, who nursed his cuts and bruises, helping smooth the fights they'd have over and make Eris realize that it was care, not hate. Eris was pushed towards becoming a soldier, but that was not an option for him. Instead, he followed a similar path of a healer like his mother. This didn't last either, Eris too squeamish. It was a few years of angst and frustration, with more fights and uncertainty before something changed.
His future was up in the air before he and his best friend were attacked one day as they left the safety of their city walls. It was a Wyvern, cunning and starving, aiming to swoop them up in a huge gulp. That moment of fear was key to unlocking a power that had laid dormant in him for years. Eris' best friend, Daikes describes him as "engulfed in fire, but he was unharmed. He had these markings all over him, and this look on his face that wasn't...him. It was like he was possessed, but I wasn't scared. He looked at me and just smiled, and I knew that we were gonna be okay."
Eris was magical. It startled both his parents, and after that incident, the rumors surrounding Eris being possessed by some demon, making a deal with a devil, it all became too much. Eris packed up and left, seeking out the only place that he truly felt could help him learn control. His parents assume something snatched him up, and despite how guilty he feels- he encourages these rumors. Maybe then he'll one day return as a hero.

Personality: Aiden is an upbeat person who enjoys the company of others. He'll be friends with anyone who is willing to be friends with him. Aiden always feels a pressure to try and help otherrs who are facing problems, to put others before himself. This is driven by a belief that he's not as important as those around him. He doesn't hate himself or his life in any way, but he views himself as just average, the kind of person who could be replaced fairly easily. He runs his life with a practical outlook, trying to do things logically while enjoying what comes.

Likes: Helping others, listening to stories, the outdoors, farmland and animal life, physical activity, The Moon and stars, working with his hands.

Skills: Kind of well rounded person, growing up in a farming village has given him a variety of skills. Growing food has given him experience in cooking, farming, basic use of medical herbs, and dealing with animals. Work around the farmhouse has given him basic construction skills, as well as knowledge into repairing tools and weapons. None of his skills are as developed as a professional, but he is adept in his work.

History: Aiden's life started off pretty normal. His family owned a decently sized piece of farmland in Styla and he spent most of his childhood expecting to inherit the farm from his parents when he grew older. Aiden has a sister, younger by a year, the of them quite close. It changed however, due to a chance meeting one day a few months ago. He was approached by a strange figure. To be exact it was just a young girl, maybe about 8 years old looking. She had a curious smile and wide eyes that seemed like they could see more than they should have. At any rate, She was friendly, and Aiden, being Aiden, was friendly back. They struck up a conversation as they walked, which was unfortunate. About halfway through their chat, the girl turned and ran away, laughing excitedly, almost triumphantly. You see, the girl wasn't really an ordinary girl (in case you couldn't tell) Aiden never found out who she really was. But he always speculated that something she manipulated him into saying during the conversation was what made the dreams start. Now, the dreams were when things really started getting weird. A strange figure kept popping up in them, no body that he could see clearly but always a voice. And it varied usually what they'd say, but the general gist is that it started to drive Aiden insane. Magic began flowing out of him whenever he was stressed, something that started happening pretty often once the dreams kicked in. Soon he could hear their voice in his head all the time, morning day and night. it drove him mad, he started seeing hallucinations, or maybe they were just apparitions caused by the demon gaining strength from his destabilized mind. Who knows? Anyway Aiden was eventually saved by his younger sister, who managed to bring Aiden back to his senses. He began to learn about the demon that had been put inside his head, learned her name was Ayla, she was a rogue plague demon that absorbed life energy from living things to survive. The thing was, she'd been defeated (she wouldn't say who defeated her) and had been forced into making a contract that would place her and her power under the control of a host, a host who was now Aiden. Ayla believed that if she could get Aiden to kill himself, or give up and surrender control of his body over to her, she'd be able to free herself from the contract. Once Aiden had been saved by his sister, neither of these really were viable anymore so instead, a deal was struck. Ayla would give Aiden her power, without tormenting him, and Aiden would train this magic to a level at which he could free Ayla from the contract. So when Aiden received a letter of invitation to a famous magic school... well you can guess what happened.

Arcane Power Source: Demonic Contract. Ayla's demonic spirit is directly linked to his own and she can only channel her magic through him (which gives him control over how its used)
