Other Shit I've had happen during roleplays

I've got a couple stories really but I guess I will go with the worst one. There was this old fan board I was a part of. It was a RP/Fan board of a cartoon I liked to watch and we should ship characters with the main one etc, it was usually pretty fun. We would RP on the board all the time. The girl who created the board and I were friends. But one day I noticed that there was this troll girl who was giving the others grief as well as me. Now to this day I still don't understand what drove this girl to do this. Obviously she was a little mentally unstable. But she ended up creating a profile of my username, copied my avatar, my entire profile really and started posting pretending to me and saying stuff like "I'm going to kill myself." "I hate you all" etc Once my friend saw this she freaked out and talked to me and we both realized that it was this other girl. We dealt with this girl for a while until I left the board. At first we tried to block her but she kept coming back with different usernames. The fact she tried to impersonate me and some of the things she wrote still is in the back of my head. But I guess the good news is really she left before I left. Still that was my first experience with a Troll as crazy as she was. She told me she would hack my computer and come and kill/and/or hurt me. But I knew that was a obvious lie. I hope that girl found some help mentally. Welp, time to sanitize my brain.

So I was playing this revenge role play, where I had to play several different characters that bullied their character. Not too bad right? Let me elaborate...

It starts and he's looking for one of the bullies to enact his revenge on. This was kind of irritating from the off, as he offered no explanation as to why my characters hated him, or what they'd even done to him. I asked him about this, and he just said make something up. I should've seen the warning signs and left.

Just as a warning, this guy had a real obsession with rape.

But he then corners one, and its a seventeen year old girl. His character then proceeds to drug her, tie her to a table, and brutally rapes her as she's stirring.

Yes, you did read that correctly. He never mentioned this was going to happen beforehand by the way.

So I decided to try and spare my character from this by having her boyfriend walk in and attack his character. He then brings magic into it (out of thin air) and mind controls the boyfriend character. Forcing him to perform oral sex on him (in front of his sobbing girlfriend) he then sends him home to be his willing sex slave, after turning him into an alien woman.

I then called him out for this, saying that this was a high school role play, and not only did the magic element make no sense, but I wasn't happy role playing scenes of graphic rape (I deliberately made my responses short and vague, hoping he'd get the message beforehand), especially if the character isn't going to be punished for it.

He then proceeded to write probably the longest response I have ever received (it was about twelve paragraphs of graphic writing) including him torturing the original girl to death, going home and brutally raping her boyfriend with a spear, and kidnapping his twelve (he made a point out of saying how young she was) year old sister, whom he (you guessed it) horribly raped and turned into a sentient sex doll, before throwing her to the boys locker room.

I called him a sick freak before blocking and reporting him, but surprisingly he didn't get banned.

(This was on google plus btw.)

I hated this guy by the end of this. He made me feel so unclean, as if I'd just sat through watching a particularly horrid porn video. I never went in looking for that, and he turned a fairly common concept and warped it into something disgusting.

Yeah that can be really awful. I don't mind roleplaying a little on the darker side. I don't go NEARLY as far or descriptive as this person you described went, but I don't personally mind potentially offensive or triggering things in roleplays, IF, and ONLY IF, both people involved in the roleplay agree to roleplay those types of things. If someone expresses to me that they aren't comfortable with certain things, then I make sure that those things never come up. It's really bad to do those things if someone had expressed their discomfort and I'm sorry that person did that to you. I just felt the need to apologize for it because it really hit a nerve for me, I've been roleplaying for almost a decade and that stuff is nasty when you find it offensive. Roleplaying dark themes isn't bad in itself, but it becomes a problem when a roleplay partner expresses discomfort or distress at is.

Thanks, I took a break from role playing for a while after that, as I lost enthusiasm for it.

I often role play on the darker side as well, but this was just graphic rape for the sake of it. It added nothing to the story, it didn't need to be nearly that graphic, and it was seriously distasteful, as he wrote it as if these characters deserved it.

oh god, that does sound awful

to me, if people like to rp or write these sort of things then it’s... whatever, you do you, as long as you don’t actually support it. but to drag someone who is uncomfortable with those themes into it is horrible, and i’m sorry you had to go through that : (

Things that were awkward at the time but now I laugh at:

Way back when I first started roleplaying (I was young and inexperienced), my character casually flirted with another character in a Harry Potter roleplay. Afterwards, the other roleplayer asked if we could do a 1:1 thread. I said sure and suddenly, bam, she posted a thread in the Room of Requirement board. There was a heart shaped bed and rose petals and everything. I...never went back.

A roleplayer had her character abruptly kiss mine while he was in mid conversation. It was the first time they met and she instantly fell in love with him. My character was very concerned and asked to just be friends first.

I'm definitely glad I can't recall anything truly awful I've experienced while roleplaying. The worst thing might be some cliquey behavior and, of course, ghosting -- the latter of which I definitely understand. It's unfortunate but things don't work out, for whatever reason.

I stopped running a D&D game of almost 2 years for a really similar thing. Character beat an NPC unconscious, proceeded to try and violently rape her and when I (the DM) told him no it started a huge argument in a public place. Kicked the guy in the end but the damage had already been done. He tried to break the game after his PC killed herself rather than run from a big boss using mechanics, lying to other players about me and when all of that failed he instead did something he knew would break the DM.
In the very first session I laid down the law. Party could do literally anything except the big R and things relating to it, as I put it rather bluntly and there was a good reason.
I think he took it as a challenge. Guy turned out to maybe be a paedophile too, so there's that.

In the end, I was emotionally drained and quit the whole game. Run a new game on Tuesday nights where the party is lovely. The wankstain who broke me (and thus, the game) sounds disturbingly similar to the one in your story. Now, I seriously doubt they are the same person but it wouldn't surprise me if that were the case.

I was doing a Harry Potter role play with someone who insisted his character was pretty much the sexiest thing to walk the earth, and wanted a four way relationship between my character, Hermione and Cho Chang. When I refused he said "oh okay" as if to continue and blocked me, which was annoying as it was a really good story.

Currently in a 1x1 with a long-time friend of mine based on a book series we both enjoy. I'm typically a fairly consistent responder, the slowest I ever get is once a week. I also try to give good quality replies; interesting to read, plenty of character-building detail, that kind of thing. So it's really f*cking annoying when I send a damn good reply, then have to wait like 2+ months for one in return and it's a poorly written paragraph per character. Kinda kills the muse a bit, y'know? Then they'll turn around if I haven't sent a reply within a couple weeks like "It's your turn, did you forget?" Like no I didn't f*cking forget I'm just petty if I gotta wait two months so do you. Yes, I got petty after a while 'cause I really would wait ages, respond within a few days after that long-ass wait, then have to f*cking wait AGAIN. Like sweetie I know you're busy but it literally only takes me like a couple hours of brainstorming and typing and getting distracted by FB to send something decent and I swear to God the last response I got was hurriedly typed up on the phone while they were at work... I love my OC for this RP and the world it's set in so I haven't given up completely on it but I sure as hell ain't holding my breath for responses anymore, either.

Also really hate it when someone joins an RP and straight out of the gate starts very obviously shipping their OC with someone else's and everyone else can get f*cked. I had joined an RP still in it's early stages but not at the very beginning and suddenly someone asked why no one was interacting with their character. Nobody had answered, and I hadn't actually seen this person post up to that point, so I went through and read like four pages of posts and found out their character was a raging bitch to everyone except the guy her creator wanted to ship her with and everyone had -understandably- kinda just given up. In this same RP -it was a Pokemon gijinka RP- the OP had specified that for our characters, pretty much anything was okay; your character could exhibit as much or as little of their Pokemon characteristics as you wanted. So I made a Rapidash gijinka, and if anyone knows Rapidash it's like half covered in fire. I gave her that fire, saying it was on her wrists, ankles, and long hair, and she had a fiery tail. OP told me "I feel like there's too much fire, can you tone it down?" NO I most certainly canNOT, you said anything goes and it was an accurate representation of the Pokemon she was based off so f*ck off my character. OP was pretty cool about it after I pointed that out but it still really pissed me off at the time.

Ah, man. I've got a couple from some old roleplays on different sites. Some of my experiences resemble some already posted in this thread so I'll just hook you up with my most memorable one.

There was this roleplayer, I'll call them C. They entered one of my urban fantasy RPs with a pretty usual, good VS evil, sins vs virtues theme. We had kind of a "master-servant" theme going on with our character roles.
C joins in as the leader of the good side. No one wants to be their servant so they create their own. Both characters male.
But immediately, something catches my eye in C's master character. One of his abilities is to literally one-shot kill an enemy PLAYER character at the cost of C's master character falling into a coma for like, a month.

Quickly message them asking them to tone it down. Thankfully, C changed it, and I thought nothing about it after that. They were only new, after all. Maybe it was their first time making a character for this kind of story and thought that as leader, they should be the strongest.

As the RP went on, C pulled several antics that warranted quite a few PMs from me.
- C literally calls upon the power of deus ex machina and has his character "pray to their god" to randomly power up their character. I was like, "dude, you can't just do that, we're all trying to make realistic ways for our characters to improve."
- C was fond of random power ups. They literally pulled some nakama power thing in order to power up their servant character as well. My co-GM got peeved and since I was playing a servant to their master character, co-GM boosted me as well.
- C got into an argument with one of co-GM's characters along with another veteran character. Seemingly to prove a point, C randomly spawns one of my character's owl familiars and shoots it. C got a PM from me asking them not to use my familiars because... they're my familiars.
- Randomly inserted their character into co-GM's character's backstory. Didn't PM them for this, but I heard co-GM did.

The RP kind of ended after a while since the site underwent heavy maintenance which affected our posting. A year or so later, co-GM and I wound up joining a few RPs with C or even run by C. It soon became clear that C was using overpowered characters, but could rarely even do combat or conflict in an RP to save their life.

Oh, and one of their characters apparently wound up addicted to, er, erotic stuff because they were raped.

Just...no.

What are some things that your roleplay partners have done that just piss you off? 'ave a rant

For me, one of the things that really gets me is when my roleplay partner tries to overbearingly control everything in the roleplay. Like, they want to tell you how to reply, what to put in your reply, what to have your character say, and shit like that. I've really had this happen and it pisses me off. I once had somebody stop roleplaying with me because I DARED to suggest an idea that didn't align with her idea. Like, I'm sorry, princess, but roleplays are a joint effort. If you want it to be a certain way, write a damn book, twat.

Another thing that I can't stand is when someone criticizes your style or choice of characters. Like, when someone criticizes my choice to only roleplay using male characters despite being female in real life. OH, excuse me, I didn't realize that MY character was going to be YOUR choice! Jog on. I also once had someone tell me that my style of writing is wrong. Even though it is entirely subjective and depends on the person.

Also, Grammar Nazis. This is simple: if you are an Einstein for grammar, that's peachy for you, but MOST people are not, so shut your pie hole, Sally! ONE MISTAKE in the position of a fucking comma is not reason enough to call someone a retard! (really happened.)

I'm very new to all this, is it common to find people like that? Little nervous now xD

I'm very new to all this, is it common to find people like that? Little nervous now xD

No, those things don't happen most of the time ^^ Most people are very nice, but there are a few bad ones in there that can make for very frustrating experiences ^^
Welcome! ^^

so this is more like some dude requesting to roleplay with me than something that actually happened during a roleplay, but here we go;

i was 13 at the time and i roleplayed on deviantart. somehow i managed to avoid the major creeps on the site except for one. basically, he ended up sending a note to me asking me to do a smut with him as ourselves [i've never written smut and honestly never plan to] he even wrote a starter for the roleplay, and luckily, it wasn't anything graphic, but it honestly got worse. i ended up looking at his page, learned that he was in his twenties, and let's just say that the content that he uploaded on his page sorta matched up to the fact that he was asking minors to do smut rps with him. [and he didn't age restrict his content either, even though it was nsfw stuff, and there's rules that ask people to do so.]

he ended up getting banned before i could tell him i wasn't interested, so at least there's a happy ending to that. i still find gross, though, looking back on it. i think i'm just lucky that it didn't end up worse.

So, isn't it fun when you're in the middle of a roleplay (usually group RPs, where it seems everyone can just ghost because you don't have to face the reality of it being only one person you're RPing with in an 1x1), and you're doing an interaction, and you make a post for it, and some days pass—mind you, I'm really lenient on post frequency because I understand life gets tough and I myself have had some phases of really sparse posting—and so you ask your interaction partner if they are going to answer, and they say that yes, some more days pass, and you ask again just to be sure, they say yes. Eventually, you ask no more, but the post that they basically assured one that would be written, never arrives? So, yeah, basically, I hate when someone assures you repeatedly that they are going to continue and then, they just don't. I've had this happen in a 1x1 too, which is ghosting, yeah, but when you also show excitement for the RP and say that, well, it is kinda annoying, right? The group RP then died, ye.

Another thing I've had happen in a group RP too was doing things only for the other character to ignore them. In this case, I recall it was something like my character being a cheerful girl trying to make up with a wannabe-friend, so leaving something on the other character's door for them to find the morning of the next day. I even asked them if it'd be alright. They said yeah, and that they'd mention it. But, well, you can guess the outcome already. I just thought a gesture like that makes the RP and interactions much more integral, plus it's something that my chara would genuinely do.

These two specifically was on another site (although I've also had similar things happen here, but well, what can you do). Just wanted to rant about it, I guess haha. Anyone had something similar happen? From what I've been reading, your experiences are some real funny things (looking at them in retrospective).

two things that happened to me:
- an individual that keeps asking me to roleplay with them but then say I suck after one opening but then continues to ask cause they are bored??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? disrespect.
- people who suddenly fucking disappear on me and then want to resume the rp when i moved on... tell me irl is garbage so i can expect your comeback. Dont think ill moping and waiting for you CauSe IrL so hard. Bish, im spending IRL time on this website!

How dare u deny me a 4 way!!!? *blocks u*
