Shinobi exist for battle; they born into and breed war. For the world to ever be at peace... it must be without shinobi.
Minato Sarutobi, The Daimy?

Naruto: Seiry?den (??????, Naruto Seiry?-den, literally meaning: Naruto Blue Dragon Legend) takes place in a unique alternate universe of Naruto: Shipp?den. While this world is chronologically after the events of Shipp?den, it also has many divergences that rewrite the original story while retaining many of the original characters. The very first divergence from Shipp?den is a brand-new backstory for the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo ?tsutsuki, as well as his family line. This divergence is designed to alter very little of the continuity of Shipp?den until the climax of the Fourth Great Shinobi War. This means that most of the events from the Naruto Part I and Part II manga actually occurred in this world and can be referenced or found in history. The divergence in the Fourth Great Shinobi War, however, is what defines the world of Naruto: Seiry?den.

Seiry?den takes place roughly one-hundred and fifty years after the Fourth Great Shinobi War. The results of that war did not end with Naruto and Sasuke defeating Kaguya ?tsutsuki. In fact, Kaguya was never resurrected. Instead, Madara continued using the power of the ten-tails uninhibited. Naruto and Sasuke eventually proved no match for Madara, yet in this world the Uchiha warlord was still defeated. A final experiment of Orochimaru?a far more powerful version of the chimera that Kabuto made himself into?had to be unleashed into the world. A nameless shinobi that soon became the most revered man in the world. Madara was defeated, but so was Sasuke, Naruto and the rest of the Shinobi Alliance. In one fell swoop, the last hope of humanity turned against them and became the new ruler of the world. This man ushered in a new era into the world. A bittersweet era of peace and oppression.

This man eliminated the leaders of the former world and took their place. He took the name Minato Sarutobi, though he was known more openly as The Daimy?, and brought the world together under his rule. All resistance was shattered. In his world, there was no need for soldiers or shinobi. After nearly a century, shinobi had all but disappeared with only a few practices left by clans as a form of tradition. Cultures from every land were slowly being washed away, history lessons were designed worldwide by The Daimy?. When all seemed hopeless, a spark ignited a rebellion hidden between generations that unraveled the world as it was. War broke out. This war became the Fifth Great Shinobi War, and was the last major landmark on history. Minato Sarutobi was without an army and the rebellion had legions of shinobi trained in secret. While their numbers were fractions of what they were in the previous Great War, they were far beyond what little guard and police force The Daimy? had. The leader of this rebellion?an Uzumaki from Konohagakure?used the Reaper Death Seal to ensure the death of the man that once defeated the great Madara Uchiha has he hosted the ten-tails. After nearly a decade of war, this brought the era known as the Century of the Daimy? to an end.

It has been twenty-three years since the end of the Fifth Great Shinobi War. While some villages were completely destroyed, such as Amegakure, others have almost regained their former glory. Sunagakure was known as the final bastion as it alone took eight years to completely integrate into the former world government. Its culture had a powerful persistence in both war and peace, as it recovered faster than any other. Konohagakure and the Land of Fire became known as the home of heroes, as many veterans of the Fifth Great War joined Konoha afterwards. Through military might, it has become one of the most influential pillars in the new Shinobi world. While some villages are rebuilding, old feuds resurfaced. Disputes over territory, land and even outlaws from both the war and mere thugs all threaten the thin veil of piece that has persisted in the wake of the Great War. While the Daimy? of respective lands try to keep peace, shinobi train for the inevitable. The veterans of the last war pray for themselves and the generation after them that the next war won't be as terrible as the last. Some question if the last war was even really worth it.
