Fantasy Santa Cruz Child Cemetary

KillGill

Snap out of it
Each year dozens of kids die each year. In the city of Santa Cruz there is a cemetery where children are buried at least twice a year. Here the children are send to roam the gardens and places around as if they where still alive.

Joseph sat beside the pond with his pants rolled up and his feet dangling in the water. He peered at the dozens of fish swimming and pushing there way through the water. The bright oranges, and greens, and yellows all swirling around in a giant blur. The water fall making ambient splashing noises. It was surprisingly relaxing and tranquil for a children's cemetery. The still living put all there time and effort to make sure the kids of the afterlife had peace for all eternity, and the work payed off. Joseph sat back with his feet still in the water. He peered back at the other kids to see what they were doing.

Kiro watched his little sister dance by the pond from with the shadows of a nearby tree. Making sure she didnt trip. Absently he ran his hand through Gilbert's soft hair as he dozed in his lap.

Lilly hummed twirling as she watched some blue birds fly overhead. She wished she could fly. Spread her wings and experience the freedom of being unchained from gravity.

Avery sat silently walked along the trail leading the pond pulling then ends of her sleeves nervously plopping down on the edge peering over at Joseph then looked down at the pond letting out a light and quick exhale. Brown pieces of her hair dangled in front of her eyes from the bun holding her hair up it was silent around here a little too silent.

He put his hands on the grass and sat back with one foot over the other. The autumn leaves slowly falling like snow he caught one in mid air and threw it into the pond. His hand pressed against the wet grass as he lifted his feet from the water. Joseph spotted Avery and let out a chuckle. He looked her in the eyes and smiled "How you doing precious."

Avery's eyes grew wide and smiled lightly letting out a chuckle locking eyes with Joseph.

"Alright what about you?" She asked raising an eyebrow moving the strands out of her face staring into the pond at what is supposed to be her reflection but just showed riffles on top of the water. She shut her eyes taking a gulp then opened her eyes to Joseph's and pulled another smile.

"I'm doing alright. Could be a tad bit warmer but for the most of its pretty good." He wiggled his toes as he stood up beaming at a 6'2. He peered up at the sky, the clouds unfolding upon the beautiful blue sky. He sat himself back down on the tire swing. He stared at Avery, she reminded him of his little sister. His face quickly formed into an upsetting mood. He hadn't seen his sister since the day he died. He thought of how she must look. Nobody came to visit his grave anymore. He had faded into obscurity like many other kids here.

Turning Lilly spotted a white bunny running across the garden. Full of excitement she ran after it. Her giggles trailing behind her.

Kiro looked up from his brothers peaceful face as he heard giggling and he let a smile curls the edges of his mouth as he watched his little sister chase the bunny. It was nice to see that not even death could squash her playful innocent nature. Feeling uncommonly mischievous he shook Gilbert to wake him up.

"What?" Gilburt groggily asked as he was shaken from his dreamless sleep. Looking up he was met with the rare sight of Kiro smiling with a trinkel in his eye. Amused he asked."What are you planning?"

Leaning down Kiro whispered his plan to Gilbert keeping an eye on Lilly to make sure she didn't look over. A moment later laughter rang across the gardens as Lilly was chased by her two older brothers.

Avery stood up and looked up at the sky and placed a hand over her forehead her head Herut till this day cause of that gone. Fury went through her of her step mother " god dammit" she blurted clutching her other fist then looked over at Joseph then tried to pull a smile. She sighed and plopped down on a bench staring at the ground below her .

(Anyone)

Hannah slowly and ever so gracefully, walked through the Memorial Garden. All the flowers around her were beautiful. She couldn't believe that people actually put in so much time for the dead. She carefully plucked a flower from a bush and brought it up to her nose. Hannah let out a relaxed sigh and stuck the flower behind her ear. Making her way through the garden, she got to the actual cemetery. Many of the other children and teens were either playing around or sitting. The little girls were actually quite adorable, the reminded her of the ones back at home. She let out another sigh and sat down next to the lake, carefully, she stuck her finger in and spun it around. "At least I can still see and feel the beauty of the life I once had." Hannah whispered to herself.

Avery saw a girl with a flower stuck behind her ear and sighed then looked at the ground at her feet then stood up quickly adjusting her bun and fixed her sweater then walked past Hannah. Thinking that she was some type of Disney character or on crack or something. She let out a deep sigh and plopped down next to Joseph and looked at him taking a deep exhale .

" nice to see ya again even though it's only been a couple of moments but hey" she said then thought that was really dumb of her to say so her face flushed pink.

"Eh sorry, um well I'm Avery" she managed to say.

Covering her mouth to try to contain her giggling Lily ran as fast as she could away from her older brothers. If she stopped they would catch her and tickle her until she cried.

"Get back here you liitle brat!" Kiro and Gilbert playfully Chorused behind her. Squealing gleefully she sped up trying to keep away from their evil fingers. She looked back to see how far from them she was and didnt watch were she was going. Thus she didn't see the two people by the lake in front of her until she smashed into one of them. Screaming in shock she stumbled back and fell onto her but.

"Lily!" Kiro and Gilbert yelled worried when they saw her fall. Quickly the raced to her side and began instinctily checking her over.

"Flower are you ok?" Kiro asked when he saw no physical signs of her being hurt. Lily shot him a bright smile nodding as she stood up and brushed herself off. "I'm fine."

Turning she faced the person she ran into. Bowing her head he said sheepishly."I'm sorry I didnt mean to run into you. I wasn't watching were I was going."

Hannah turned her head over her shoulder to see a young girl and two older boys running around playing. It was always great to see people can still be happy and live a normal "life" while being dead. Hannah kept watching with curiosity and noticed that the young girl was getting close to the two people near the lake. After watching a little longer, Lily, as Hannah found out shortly after, ran into one of the two people. The two older boys seemed very protective over her and had checked if she was alright. Hannah giggled at the thought of having an older brother who would've been there for her, if she did, may be she wouldn't be here. Hannah let out another deep sigh and looked back towards the lake.

Devna, readjusted her glasses on her nose, smiling at the new day. She skipped around the cemetery, oblivious to the fact that it didn't tire her anymore, it didn't require as much muscle. Her whole life had been changed, and maybe for the better. She had realized, it was much more fun to be like this. No more responsibilities, no one to tell her what she could or couldn't do. She was free, and free to roam. Spotting some of her friends by the coy pond, she skipped over to Avery. "Hi" Devna then beamed her little smile.

Avery looked up Devna and shrugged and pulled a fake smile. "Why are you so happy?" she asked raising an eyebrow scanning her face "how's your you know after life going?" She added taking out her bun as her brown wavy hair dropped slowly past her shoulders and elbow.

Lily turned back to her older brother kiro and waited for his nod of approval before going off to play in the flowers. Kiro believes in being polite. A butterfly flew onto the tip of her nose making her giggle. It flew away and she ran after it.

Kiro and Gilbert watched her in silence for a moment before Gilbert suddenly punched Kiro in the shoulder. Yelping Kiro shot him a wounded look. Smirking Gilbert taunted." Your such a worry wort."

Kiro scrowled playfully at him as the twinkle of mischief returned to his eyes. "I'll be sure not to worry over you while your begging me for mercy."

Laughing Gilbert began to run away. He was determined no to fall to Kiros tickle of doom. Kiro followed swiftly.

Joseph rolled up his sleeves as he walked through the memorial garden. Joseph wandered through the dozens of flowers and bugs, it was such a stunning sight. He spotted Lily chasing the butterfly and chuckled, the Gardner, a lady by the name of Miss Coleman tended to the roses on the north side of the garden. The garden was huge and Joseph spent most of his time here. Many of the parents of those who have passed pay money to get a memorial dedication. One kid by the name of Brett loved to play piano, so when he died his parents dedicated his piano and it sits there in the rose garden. Brett sat there playing "Hall Of The Mountain King" as Joseph continued strolling through. His parents dedicated him a Willow tree with a plate with his name on it. He sat in the shade as he watched Lilly play with the butterfly. His eyes got heavy as he slowly began to doze off.

Lily giggled as she chased the butterfly not paying attention to were they headed she was surprised when the butterfly landed on a sleeping boys shoulder. She stopped hesitantly for a moment before moving closer to the sleeping boy. Kneeling down until she was eye level with the bright orange butterfly she whispered."You shouldnt fly on him. You might wake him up."

Devna giggled. "I don't really have to worry about anyone silly! The question is, why are you so grumpy?" Devna tucked her upper lip behind her bottom, making a pouting face. Devna reached for Avery's hand. "Come on! Let's go have some fun!" All previous pouting gone, with an excited look on her face.

A slight smile appeared on Hannah's face when she saw Devna ask Avery why she was so grumpy. Out of the time Hannah has spent in the cemetery, she had never seen anyone as grumpy as Avery. Slowly, she climbed up to sit on her shins. It was a nice and sunny day, after a few moments of thinking she decided to go find Lily, the young lass reminded Hannah of her neighbor. Careful not to fall into the lake, Hannah stood up and began looking for Lily. The beautiful girl was standing near Joseph , talking to a butterfly. Trying not to wake Joseph, Hannah tapped on Lily's shoulder. "Would you like to walk through the Memorial Garden and look at all the beautiful flowers with me?" A smile spread across Hannah's face, she always loved doing good, whether the person accepted it or not.

Shawn stretched his arms over his head, wandering around towards the garden part of the cemetery. It still amazed him that living people put so much effort into keeping the dead happy. Oh well, made for a better eternity he supposed. In the garden he saw Joseph sleeping under his tree and a bunch of the other kids playing. It made him smile, and he walked over to Hannah and Lily. "Well well well, what do we have here?" Shawn put on a fake serious face, raising one eyebrow and looking down at Lily with an overly exaggerated suspicious look. "My two favorite ladies aren't up to any trouble, are you?" He grinned at Hannah and winked, smiling down at Lily and schooling his expression.

(Sorry late! Didn't know it had started)

Lilly flinched startled by the sound of Hannah's voice. The movement caused the Butterfly to fly away from her finger where it had flown to after coming off Joseph's shoulder. She waved goodbye to her friend sadly but brightened when she turned to Hannah. She opened her mouth to respond but was interrupted by Shawn. She giggled sending him a bright smile as she grabbed Hannah's hand."We are going to take a walk in the Memorial Garden. Would you like to come?"

Kirk and Gilburt who were wrestling nearby heard her and stopped briefly. Simultaneously they shouted. "Stay where we can hear you and be careful." Then went back to playing. They trusted Hannah to watch over her.

Hannah blushed at Shawn's comment, "The only trouble here is Sleeping Beauty." She nodded towards Joseph and giggled. Lily then had grabbed her hand, at first she wasn't sure what was going on, then she felt that it was a tiny hand. A smile grew on her face, "Yes, indeed we are. Like little Lily here offered, you're more than welcome to come." She squeezed Lily's hand a little as a sign of reassuring they're going to have fun.

Shawn smiled and chuckled quietly at Hannah's comment, glancing over at Joseph as a butterfly landed on him. Oh what Shawn would do for a camera right then. Turning his attention back to Hannah and Lily, Shawn smiled and bowed lowly to the little girl. "It would be an honnor," he said dramatically, standing back up to his full hieght then stepped to the side of the path and made an "After you" type gesture to the girls. Hannah was now holding Lily's hand, but that didn't mean he was going to. A few of his old family were buried there, and he didn't want to be looking like a little sissy holding hands. Even if they were all dead, they still hung out and he was still considered head of the family. Hand holding was for girls, and Shawn was perfectly content to just walk with them and keep his hands in his pockets.

Lily giggled at Shawn's exaggerated bow. Shawn can be so silly sometimes. Blowing some hair out of her face she lifted her free hand toward Shawn and asked cutely."Will you hold my hand?"
