Realistic or Modern Sam's Town (Shapeshifter RP) *Not open yet*

Sam's Town is a small supernatural community located somewhere in the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia. About 90% of the population in Sam's Town are shapeshifters, while the remaining 10% are humans "in the know" about their neighbours. Some of these humans possess extraordinary abilities of their own, or may in fact be other supernatural races in disguise. Everyone in Sam's Town works together to maintain the town's secrets, and newcomers are either brought into the loop or discouraged from staying long enough to find out.

However things get more difficult than usual when it's no longer tourists they have to deal with, but the entire cast and crew of the latest monster series that turns up looking for a story. And what's worse? Some of these guys are not fooling around.

  Shapeshifters
  
  Overview: Shapeshifters are supernatural beings that have the ability to assume a different form either willingly or as a result of an outside influence. They are stronger, faster, and more durable than humans; possessing a healing factor that allows them to recover from serious injuries in a matter of days. Most shapeshifters also have heightened senses, but this is dependent on their alternate form. They live for incredibly long periods of time, but their offspring have a very high mortality rate.
  
  Animal Forms: All shapeshifters transform into a specific animal that they inherit from one or both of their parents, and it can be anything from a fox or snake to a stegosaurus. Hybrids can only occur in very closely related species and are usually not fertile (ex: Liger, Borneo bat eater, etc). Sometimes there are noticeable differences between a shifter's animal form and it's realistic counterpart: such as size, and color.
  *You will need to talk to me first if you want to make a hybrid character, or about making changes to your character's form.*
  
  Young and adolescent shapeshifters have more difficulty controlling their shifts, and sometimes characteristics from their animal form transfer over to their human one. These are commonly referred to as 'tells' and are the main reason that shapeshifters rarely leave Sam's Town before reaching adulthood (21). Any tells are to be covered up and hidden outside of the designated safe areas. The manifestation of tells tends to get worse the longer an individual goes between shifts.
  
  The average shapeshifter needs to transform at least once every week, before they begin to experience a phenomenon called 'the pressure' which starts off as a mild force behind the eyes that increases into migraine like symptoms (sometimes shifters also feel the pressure when under extreme emotional or physical stress). The older the shapeshifter, the longer they are able to maintain a single form without side effects.
  
  Talisman: A talisman is something that the Elder Council requires every shapeshifter in Sam's Town to wear in order to identify themselves to other shapeshifters. It comes from a tradition developed from when almost all shapeshifters were wandering nomads, as it allowed for the wanderers to identify others of their kind in human form.

  The Elder Council
  
  The Elder Council is made up of the oldest and strongest shapeshifters living in Sam's Town. They founded the town over a century ago and have remained in power through a combination of cunning, power, and pack support. It is their responsibility to monitor and control all things related specifically to the shapeshifters: making rules, enforcing the law, and protecting the town from outside threats to their kin.
  *These are their basic profiles, more information will be provided during the RP.*
  
  Elder Council Members are:
  
  Lautaro Zabala (Argentavis magnificens): A well dressed Spanish man who prefers somber colors and adores fine wrist watches. He is nearly bald, has brown eyes, thin lips, and a large nose that curves Iike a bird's beak. Lautaro is very talkative, a keen observer, and despite his eagerness for change, he often takes the longest to make decisions. He appears to be in his mid to late 40s but is really a few tens of thousands years old.
  
  Enola Hunter (Tyrannosaurus Rex): A small, elderly Native American woman who prefers bright colors and enjoys playing the flute. She has medium length white hair, blue eyes, and wrinkled features. Enola is fierce, exceedingly clever, and despite protesting changes at council meetings remains quick to make decisions. She appears to be in her 80s but is.... very, very, very old.
  
  Sayan Tilki (Caspian Tiger): A tall Turkish woman with a thin figure, who dresses in an elegant fashion and enjoys hunting in her animal form. She has long black hair, blue eyes, and a strong jawline that gives her a powerful profile. Sayan is a good listener, ambitious, and a little too eager to make her mark in Shapeshifter history. She appears roughly 21 years old, but she is in fact 237 years old, making her by far the youngest council member.
  
  Yulian Alexeev (Woolly Mammoth): A robust European man with a terrible sense of fashion, who enjoys cooking and making wood carvings. He has a full head and beard of shaggy hair, a large nose, friendly smile, and expressive eyes. He is an outgoing individual with a positive outlook, and believes strongly in good family values. He appears to be in his early thirties, but is actually several thousand years old.
  
  Asim Uba (Paranthodon): An elderly African man who prefers to dress formally and loves classic cars. He has short grey hair, amber eyes, and typically sports a serious expression. He is usually the first to develope a plan of action and the most active member of the council. He despises mischief makers.

  Badger Lake Bakery: This small shop is located near the center of town and is run by the witch Tara and her daughter Lindsey. It's notable for serving the best coffee in the area, and is a popular location for teenagers of all species to hangout after schools.

Rules

- No Godmodding, Bunnying, Powerplaying, Etc
- No one liners (This is a casual to detailed RP)
- No disrespecting other players (Characters can argue with eachother IC, but I expect good behaviour on everyone's behalf in the OOC)
- OOC business stays in the OOC thread.
- Make sure to tag anyone connected/involved in your IC posts. This makes it a lot easier for everyone involved!
- Include a Themesong in your character sheet if you've read the rules.
- If you're not sure of something, either ask me about it in the OOC thread or send me a PM.
- Please spellcheck your posts and use paragraphs. Also put you're characters favourite color if you've read the rules. Nobody likes to read a giant wall of text or spend 10 minutes trying to puzzle out what's supposed to be happening!
