Sad, Tragic Orphans

In 2009 Sad, Tragic Orphans came bursting out of the woodwork and took the world by storm. Six teenagers that were raised in the same group home took a shot at the big times on a talent competition show and they didn't only win the show, they won America's hearts. The pop rock/Indie band were recognized and adored not only for their difficult backstory but also for their front and center: America's Sweethearts. The band had a duet-style of music that hopeless romantics all over America went crazy for when STO's two lead singers announced that they were indeed in a relationship that was already two years strong. Interviews revealed their love for each other as well as the quirkiness and lovable personalities of the other band mates. Behind the scenes, the six were still the best of friends, but they were young, and after almost two years of fame, a publicity stunt ruined most of their reputations and caused the band to intentionally lose touch and move on with their lives and their new wealth.

Now the group are all in their mid to late twenties, with established lives and careers, rarely ever speaking to one another, until tragedy strikes and they lose one of their own. The five remaining and some new additions are flown to Los Angeles to reunite and conduct a tribute show for their fallen friend, but the attention it gets causes record labels to fall at their feet and Sad, Tragic Orphans decide to do one last tour, because their old friend would have wanted it that way.

The Rockstar

Lead Singer

Attractive, sweet, and a damn good talker, there's not much that The Rockstar wants that he doesn't get just by pure persuasion. He's got the kind of aura that makes you want to like him despite what he's done in the past. Born to a teenage mother and suffering of a heart condition early on, the rockstar spent his entire childhood in the group home and when he got the money and fame, it went to his head. Dated The Good Girl for almost four years, but fell in love with the free-spirit unexpectedly. The band manager warned him of breaking up with The Good Girl, and what would happen to the band's fame, so he stuck around and began an affair with The Free Spirit. It was a whirlwind, intoxicating love affair until The Bad Boy found out. After the band's separation, The Rockstar continued on as a solo artist, rarely making it to the radio but doing pretty good in CD and itunes sales.

The Good Girl

Lead Singer

An All-American beauty that lives by a strict set of morals and is widely known as the good role model of the group. The Good Girl cares deeply for children, animals, and others. A hopeless romantic, she thought getting to sing love songs to her boyfriend was her dream come true until The Bad Boy broke the horrible news of The Rockstar's affair. The Good Girl came up with a carefully constructed plan for revenge and with help from The Bad Boy and The Troublemaker, she interrupted a show one night to play a little tune of her own about cheaters, dedicating it to 'The Best Cheater in Hollywood, her boyfriend' in front of a sold out audience. The Good Girl went down in infamy, and the song would go on to be not only STO's last performance but a number one hit, remaining at the top of the charts for months. After the fallout, The Good Girl retired to a quiet little country town where she's now a school teacher. Now that the band's getting back together, and The Free Spirit is bringing her fiance along for the ride, The Good Girl might finally have her chance for some real revenge of the homewrecking variety. It doesn't hurt that The Songwriter's very attractive.

The Free Spirit

Guitar

A lover of freedom, adventure, and uniqueness, The Free Spirit got her start in music with a ukulele. A bit of a wildcard, the girl's capable of keeping the most calm individual on their toes. Her intense devotion to excitement and unstable actions could intrigue just about anyone. It's not her fault the person who found it the most endearing was already taken. She tried to fight off the attraction to The Rockstar just as hard as he did, but in the end, she still believes it was true love and couldn't be stifled. After the fallout, she tried to stick around in The Rockstars life but paparazzi and publicity made it impossible. She had to rid her life of him in order to stop being known as either a homewrecker, or the even more popular opinion: a sex symbol. She's now engaged to The Songwriter and they're currently on the Billboard hot 100's as an acoustic indie folk duo.

The Troublemaker

Drums

At first, The Troublemaker picked up drum sticks because she wanted to be a part of the band and had no other musical talent. But after tons of practice, she eventually fell in love with rhythm. Around the same time, she fell in love with JJ. In and out of Juvie as a child, there was a sense of recklessness embedded in The Troublemaker from the beginning. She owns motorcycles, wears a lot of leather, and can drink your father under the table. She was a good match for JJ's upbeat, goofy nature and the two had a lot of fun together, though they were forbidden from taking their relationship public in fear of overshadowing America's not-so-sweethearts. Their love was the sweet sort of fairytale that took them a year to even have sex and even longer to admit to being in love. Everyone loved JJ, but no one knew him like The Troublemaker. She was the only band member that got to see the comedian's lonely, damaged dark side. Still, not even she saw his suicide coming. She dated JJ for on and off after the band broke up, breaking up and always falling back together, until one day they just didn't. He stopped coming back for her, and she didn't reach out to ask why. They weren't on speaking terms when the news of his death broke.

The Bad Boy

Guitar

Every band's got to have one. And although The Bad Boy never considered himself part of that stereotype, it was assigned to him nonetheless. He accepted it when he noticed the female attention it earned him. Before the band, The Bad Boy was a scrawny little wallflower with dreams of being something more. STO's publicist assigned the member's roles, and The Rockstar obviously had the charming front and center lover boy thing down pat already. And there was no way JJ was going to be seen as anything other than the adorable, lovable bass player. That left the role of the Bad Boy to a nerdy little John Doe. And he fully embraced his new image. He grew out his hair, obtained an entirely new wardrobe, and perfected a signature smirk all for the camera. It wasn't long before girls were asking him to sign their breasts and tweeting sexual things his way often. He became known to the rest of the band as a 'groupie-hound' when he continuously started bringing groupies back to hotel rooms and tour buses. The way he looked at it, though, he was just catching up with everyone else given his late start. JJ was The Bad Boy's closest friend. They had been transferred to the group home from the same abusive foster home and JJ was the only person who understood what The Bad Boy had been through. Because of this, he's the first and the most determined to comfort The Troublemaker.

New to the group but not new to music, The Songwriter is an easy-going, old soul that prefers piano, violin, and the art of writing music above all else. Into meditation and peace, The Songwriter is a sensual, caring person with an ear for good lyrics. Engaged to The Free Spirit, the pair have been on the top of the Indie charts for a while now and there doesn't appear to be any descent in the future for the loving but strange new power couple. When The Free Spirit hears the news of her old friend's death, The Songwriter tags along for emotional support, but ends up quite involved in helping the band with new lyrics and trying to perfect the bass guitar for their shows.

The Songwriter

I'd like this to be a Detailed, character-driven roleplay. We all love Band roleplays, but they don't seem to ever last so I've added a bit of spice to this one. I'm working up a paragraph for the deceased JJ for further explanation but this is what we've got for now and I wanted to generate some interest before going any further. The gender of The Songwriter is not decided so there could possibly be four female roles which I know we all love, so I wanted to leave the possibility if it turns out hard to get male roles. I do have an end in mind for the role play so if it reaches that, I'm thinking up a prequel of the groups rise to fame.

This would not be first come first serve, and would require unique, realistic characters, but I think it would be really fun. Anyone up for it?
