If you wish to balance things out how they are currently, you should probably do a male.
However, I would like you to pick which is more comfortable for you to play as/find an FC for >> <<.
Also, in the end with the four slots for Male and Female Dorms in Sakurasou, there will probably be some sort of balance by the end of the character creation either way.
(probably not helpful since you don't know which to pick but *eh*)
