RIVERVIEW EQUESTRIAN CENTER
Welcome to the Riverview Equestrian Center, located just outside of Georgetown, Kentucky. This facility offers training in both Hunt Seat and Western riding, along with training and breeding programs. Learn to fly and jump with English trainer Vincent Acker, or dig into the ground and rein with Alecto Rodriguez!
-
Riverview has a problem though. The barn is struggling. After Vincent is seriously injured, he is put out of commission for months, leaving Alec the only one able to work. Even after Vincent comes back, customers had left, assuming his injury would be the end of his career.
The only hope seems to be the upcoming Team Horsemanship Competition, to earn the cash prize, and the publicity that comes along with it. You are training with either Vincent or Alec for these shows, and to help keep Riverview alive.

Name: Vincent John Acker
Nicknames: Vinny
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Homosexual
-
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 175lbs
Appearance:
A tall man with piercing light blue eyes and black hair styled into a long undercut. He has light, olive skin, calloused on his hands from working and riding. He has a medium build; somewhat wide shoulders but looks slender and lithe from his height. Defined, light muscles much like a swimmer. Bump on his collar bone from his injury falling, breaking it. Thin scars on the top of his shoulder from surgery.
(Face claim: Leo Mangieri)
-
Personality:
Vincent is a bit of a workaholic, and a very organized man. He isn’t one to tolerate lateness, or laziness. In classes he is blunt, and doesn’t beat around the bush, but he isn’t rude either. His motto being ‘I will only say it is amazing if that is what it is.’. He likes to motivate his students to always be thinking and feeling the horse under them, not to just learn techniques. Out of lessons he is much more laid back and likes to joke, and is always ready to give advice.
History:
Vincent grew up in poverty, living out in the county. He lived on an old farm, but his parents both found work in a nearby town so they could make better money. His parents didn’t have the money to pay for riding lessons, so instead Vincent worked at the local barn in exchange for riding time. He would later double that with part time work in town, paying for all his riding clothes and equipment himself. He quickly found himself working and riding almost everyday, and working his butt off to get better. As a local show came around, with a cash prize of $1,000 in the jumpers, Vincent entered and won. He gave the money to his parents, having intending to win it for them.
As he entered high school, he joined the equestrian team offered through the school. There he met Alec, who would be one of the teams western riders. They would become quick friends after meeting, and helped each other out despite the difference of riding discipline. The would later graduate and go to the same college, Vincent going for a major in Equine studies.
He is a talented rider by college, earning a full ride for his skills and was being watched by many top trainers. He loses contact with Alec for a little after his friend drops out of college, but reconnects and helps him back into the horse industry as the startup Riverview. Business is going well, but an accident hurts the barns chances.
During a high level show, Vincent takes a nasty fall and severely injures his left shoulder. This brings his career to a halt. He spends months recovering from the injury, which never really heals completely. On good days it can cause minor pain and stiffness, and others he wears a brace and can’t move it without pain.

Nicknames: Goes by Alec and tries desperately to keep his first name under wraps
Age: 26
Gender: Male

-
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 150 lbs
Appearance:
Alec has an undercut of curly auburn hair, and soft hazel eyes. He is quite small, in both height and build, and no matter how much he eats he never seems able to gain much weight. This doesn’t influence his ability to work with horses though - he knows how to push them around and earn their respect. He is quite fashionable as well - especially at the barn. Students that are unsure of what show attire to get often come to him for advice. (faceclaim: Victor Bellido)
-
Personality:
Spontaneous and open-minded, Alec is a force to be reckoned with. Full of seemingly endless energy and passion, he hates being trapped and is annoyingly independent. He is good with people and very empathetic - people find him approachable and fun to be around. He tends to have an optimistic view of the world (sometimes too optimistic), however he struggles with self esteem issues, and if something manages to get him down it gets him down hard. He doesn’t have a lot of patience or good focus, and is always jumping around from idea to idea. Because of this, he much prefers teaching group lessons instead of privates because he can focus on different students. Instead of planning, he prefers to just “trust his gut”, and he is very curious. When he gets stressed, it is usually because he has argued with someone or someone has said something rude to him - he tends to take things personally. He’ll hardly let you know this though, and is rather good at putting on a “tough guy” act, and just overthink it later - on a rare occasion, he will explode, but you have to really upset him for that to happen. On the other hand, during pressures such as a training a difficult horse, or attending a horse show - he thrives. Instead of being nervous for shows, he literally cannot wait for them. He loves having the chance to show off either his skills or his students, and gets major satisfaction from the rush he gets when he shows. (ENFP-T)
History:
he was raised in a wealthy family, but he doesn't get along with his parents - they were controlling, helicopter parents that didn't “believe in” his sexuality or his passion for reining (they were Western Pleasure trainers and showers, and they thought reining was out of control, dangerous and not classy). He grew up taking lessons in and showing Western Pleasure horses and the occasional Trail horse. In high school, he was on his school’s equestrian team where he met Vinny, and competed in reining, where he fell in love with it, much to his parent’s dismay. Because his parents were emotionally and verbally abusive, he didn’t believe he had any future in the horse industry (because he wanted to do reining). He goes to the same college Vinny goes to, but for engineering. He hates not only his major, but just being at school in general. He never had really good grades - the structure of school just doesn’t really bode well with his personality. So after a year, he drops out. For three years, he lives with his parents and works a minimum wage job just so he feels like he’s being a productive member of society. By chance, he runs into Vinny again and once he hears what he’s been doing, realizes his passion for horses once again. After he pretty much disowns his parents (can you do that?), he and Vinny give all they have (which isn’t much) and go pretty deep into debt to buy the barn, which needs lots of work. They fix the place up and start up their business - offering board, lessons and training, with goals to start showing their own horses and maybe even breed some of their own.
English or Western:
Western - main focus is reining. Also knows western pleasure, trail, ranch horse, showmanship, barrel racing and huntseat

Barn Name: Scooter
Owner: Alec Rodriguez
Breed: Pintaloosa (Paint x Appaloosa)
Sex: Mare
Appearance and Markings:
Bay Pintaloosa - 4 stockings, a star, spotted blanket, tobiano
Height: 14.8 hands
Personality:
Scooter is confident and prideful. She is a strong performer, but challenging to ride if you don’t know how. She can be a bit pushy on the ground, and under saddle can sometimes do things like anticipate patterns. She is attentive but not nervous and rarely spooks. She is the matriarch of the Riverview herd and can often be seen pushing around Vinny’s giant warmbloods. Alec rarely lets students ride her, because she tends to take advantage of more inexperienced riders.
