Akiko
Day 1 - Morning
Akiko was utterly sick of the Balance Wars.

She missed the days of living her own way, at her own pace. While she had initially agreed with some aspects of the Phantasi belief system, she could not bring herself to be on board with the way they worked. They spread like a virus throughout Alkitar, continuously pillaging and conquering for no other reason than to obtain more, more, and more. The pointless, self-serving greed disgusted the kitsune woman but at the same time, she could not bring herself to get on board with the Aether Alliance's idea of order and rule either. Thus, it was nothing short of a miracle for her to learn about a refuge created in the neutral territory specifically for those of her race. Although it pained her to leave behind the place she had called home for so long, there was little left of the life she had built anyway.

And so, as the six-tailed kitsune stood before the swirling, ice blue portal, she felt a sort of bittersweet relief. Next to her, the portal's and the refuge's creator, Hagaraki, took a step forward. He gazed at her with little emotion his clear, golden eyes. "You may take a moment if you wish," he said calmly, as if sensing her feelings. "The portal will remain open until you step through. I will see you on the other side." With a small nod, the nine-tailed kitsune stepped foward, his body swallowed by the light until he disappeared.

She inhaled slowly, her shoulders rising gradually as the air filled her chest. After taking one last look at the village behind her, where everyone was sound asleep, she followed the other kitsune into the portal.

This method of travelling was not one that she was used to, being unable to create such passages through space herself. It was not exactly painful, but it was very far from being comfortable. Once she stepped into the portal, Akiko's eyes were pierced by blinding light, which seemed to both swirl around and fly past her in all directions. She squeezed her eyes shut to protect her vision, and felt her breathing and her pulse quicken. The air felt thinner, and there was no sound whatsoever. Briefly, the kitsune wondered if this is what it felt like to be buried alive. Except, all the while it felt as though her entire body - every single cell from her skin to her bones - was twitching or vibrating and slowly growing warmer.

It felt as though these sensations lasted forever, but truly it was only a minute or so until Akiko was on the other side of the portal. She was dropped from about a foot off the ground and landed face first into some grass. Groaning, she cursed Hagaraki and his portal as she slowly pushed herself off the ground and to her feet. The kitsune rapidly blinked, her eyes adjusting from the visual assault she had gone through.

Once she could see properly, she felt her heart jump into her throat.

This did not look like any place in Alkitar she had seen before. Akiko looked around with wide eyes, her heart still beating rapidly in her chest. The grass beneath her feet looked familiar, as did the handful of trees that were scattered around. But before her was something unusual: a large, perfectly square area of dirt surrounded on two sides by a short, grey wall made of what looked like stone. In some corners of the area there were small piles of some sort of white substance - snow, it almost seemed like - with some sticks and dirt mixed in. More interestingly, there were strange contraptions arranged around the area: a structure with two seats hanging from the top, a slightly curved plank with a ladder leading up to it, another ladder held up perpendicular to the ground by four posts, and a large disc elevated off the ground, with gigantic handles evenly spaced on top of it.

"Where am I?" she breathed, her breath wafting out in small clouds as she spoke. It was then that she suddenly noticed how cold it was, especially compared to the warm climate she had been standing in just a moment ago. Shivering, Aki curled into herself as she hesitantly walked out from where she had landed amongst the trees. Her eyes continued to survey her surroundings, confusion and fear running through her body. A small path led away from this dirt area to what seemed like another, larger path where strange-looking carriages zoomed by at unusually fast speeds. Nearby she also saw a variety of rectangular towers both nearby and in the distance, but she noticed none of them were connected to anything. No castles, no fortresses, just these large buildings that rose high into the sky.

There were also humans around, strolling busily along the smaller paths. Everyone wore some sort of overcoat, although they were all in odd colours and styles. Boots, hats, and scarves were common as well, but were also unlike any she had seen before. A few of them also held small rectangles to their ears - rectangles certainly seemed prevalent here - and were speaking into them. However, even with her heightened senses she had trouble making out what any were saying.

She had never seen anything like this. But, at least, the sky looked more familiar. It was pale blue and littered with fluffy white clouds, with the sun still somewhat low on the horizon. If Aki were to guess, she would have to think it was morning - but in such a strange place, she supposed she could be wrong.

Suddenly, as she wandered past the strange sculptures, Akiko realized something. What if this was all an elaborate illusion? A big, elaborate prank to welcome newcomers to the refuge? Yes, that actually made a lot of sense... in fact, she would expect nothing less from a place full of tricksters. Although it was rare for a kitsune to be fooled by another kitsune's illusion, surely if there were enough people contributing their magic - or if someone was strong enough - it would work.

And so, Aki stopped and closed her eyes. She took a few slow, deep breaths before she opened her eyes again, focusing her senses as much as she could. She looked around, her body tensed, carefully attempting to pick out any irregularities in her surroundings. Typically if someone would be able to see through a kitsune's illusion, they would notice a wavering or blurry spot in the air, or perhaps even something in reality that sticks out. However, Akiko noticed nothing. Perhaps that was to be expected, since this was undoubtedly an incredibly powerful one.

The next step was to try using kitsunebi. Taking another deep breath, she held her hands together and focused her energy. She felt a bit off, but thought little of it - occasionally, such illusions would affect how one felt, too. After a moment she threw both hands out to either side, hoping to cast out fireballs in all directions that would break through the deceptive scenery.

But nothing came. So Akiko tried again. And again. But still nothing.

Suddenly, she heard someone call out to her. Jumping, the kitsune turned to see an older human female looking at her from the path nearby. Akiko narrowed her eyes, wrinkling her nose slightly as the other creature talked. The language sounded fairly similar to the tongue of the kitsune, but it felt as though it were being spoken mockingly, with words pronounced a bit strangely or in a totally unusual order from what she was used to. But judging by the concerned look on the human's face, Aki doubted she was trying to make fun of her. Still, she had no idea what was going on or what she was saying, so she did the first thing that came to mind.

Aki ran away.

To be honest, it was a bit of a struggle. For starters, she would typically have transformed into her fox form - which was much faster at running - but it was obvious now that her feeling "off" was actually the feeling of having her magic almost completely depleted. The second reason why she had trouble running was because, for some reason, her clothes seemed three sizes too big and her legs felt much weaker and shorter than before. As she jogged through, gaining strange looks from passersby, she had a sinking feeling as she realized why this was probably the case.

After a few minutes of running aimlessly, she eventually grew tired and slowed down to a walk. She panted, the cold air stinging her lungs as she began to catch her breath. As her chest heaved she looked around again. She was on a small walking path next to a larger one where the carriages continued to pass by. It seemed as though there was a complex system of these roads in this world. Now that she was closer, she could also see that the carriages seemed to be made of metal and that they had very dense, strong-looking wheels. Other than that, the tall buildings continued to dominate the surroundings, although she seemed to have entered an area with a variety of much smaller, different shaped ones. Some had large script hanging over their doorways, which also looked as though it were derived from the written language of the kitsune.

Then, before she could take any more sights in, Akiko caught her reflection in what seemed to be a building's large, glass wall with tomes arranged behind it. She stopped and stared in shock, leaning in to peer closer at herself. "Oh no..." she gasped, her fears confirmed by the person staring back at her.

She was significantly shorter than her true form now, and she looked much younger - closer to the way she did when she was only about 50 years old. In human years, she supposed she looked as though she were about 17 or 18. Her hair was sleek and black, and she almost seemed to be drowning in her robes with her slight, girlish frame. However, the biggest change was her lack of fox ears and (much to her horror) the absence of all of her tails. Akiko suddenly felt incomplete and distressed upon seeing this, and for good reason - she was no longer a true kitsune, but a simple human.

In all her centuries of living, Akiko had only felt such a deep sense of hopelessness and despair once or twice - and right now, she felt worse than she ever had before. Fighting back tears, she hurried along, unable to keep looking at the feeble form she was trapped in. She had no magic, no idea where she was or how to get back to Alkitar, and no clue how to properly communicate with anyone here. And worst of all, all of this was real. If she had no magic, there were definitely no kitsune hiding around, conjuring up an entire world just to fool her for a laugh or two.

As Akiko continued to wander the paths, wallowing in her own thoughts, the sun slowly rose higher in the sky. Yet even as the world grew brighter, somehow she felt herself getting colder and colder. She wrapped her ill-fitting clothes tighter around her body, but found liquid continuously running down from her nose, forcing her to keep sniffing it back up. Eventually her weak human feet grew too tired for her to keep walking along in the cold and she found herself in a little enclosure similar to the one she had landed in, one with strange sculptures everywhere. Aki sat herself on one of the seats suspended by two chains, and swung gently as she continued to be enveloped in her thoughts.

By this time, she was beginning to get over her feelings of self-pity and began to think practically. She definitely didn't like or understand her situation, but there was probably no changing it. Everything from the chill in her bones to the aching in her body felt all too real to be a dream, or some altered reality. From what she could see and sense, only humans inhabited this place. Although Aki did not understand how most of the technology worked in this world she could tell that none of it was derived from magic the way things were back home. Eventually she came to accept the reality that she would have to learn the way this world worked and survive within it until she could find some way to return home.

As she tried to figure out where to start, there was only one thing she couldn't help but keep thinking to herself: If only my biggest problem was still the Balance Wars.

Wilhelmina Willowisp
Day One - Morning

A young woman, possessing short, wavy and unkempt hair of a seemingly bottomless shade of black, sat upon a hard wooden bench, watching in unadulterated awe as the sun slowly rose above the horizon. "It seems that even in a different world, some things never change." Her voice was soft and lyrical, akin to wind chimes in a light breeze as a bright smile slowly but surely spread across her lips.

Humming a happy little tune under her breath, Wilhelmina pushed herself off of the bench she was seated on, shivering in delight as her bare feet made contact with the snow covered ground below. It hadn't been long since she found herself in this strange, new realm, since she found herself drained of nearly all of her magical energy, since she found herself trapped in a delicate human body. As disadvantageous of a situation she was in, she couldn't quite find the willpower within her to be upset when there was so many wondrous and marvelous things the land had to offer.

Her breath escaping her in puffs of fog, ash grey eyes looked around to see steel towers that seemed to reach up and touch the sky and metal carriages that zipped past at breakneck speeds. 'To think that out of all the races...' She turned her gaze towards the multitude of men and women that flooded the streets. '... it would be the "weak" humans that accomplish such feats?' The fae grinned at the thought.

Jouko
Day 1, Morning
Jouko rested his head on the cool stone of his holding cell, seated and leaning into the wall. The Elven committee of his region collected him and his leader first thing after they discovered that noble faction broke the neutrality agreement. As his leader did not fight, Jouko too accepted his punishment, keeping his chin high as he was taken to the cell and still refusing to lower it while waiting. The committee decided that punishment would be banishment. He was taken to an unfamiliar place and told there was a portal whose location and power was unknown to the elves, he was only told it belonged to a Kitsune by the name of Hagaraki. He had no shame for his crimes, and trusted his leaders judgement more than his own. The Aether Alliance would have promised a structure which allowed every denomination to have a voice. However, he acknowledged that associating with the group when it contributed to the upheaval of innocent people was naive and short sighted.
The cell doors clicked and Jouko used every bit of self control to not appear desperate or overly interested in his fate. A tall cloaked older elf entered, his skin a dark grey and hair just a shade lighter. He placed a hand on Jouko’s arm and pulled him up by the cuffs on his wrist.
“We have decided your point of no return. Keeping you and your faction alive and together has proven to be too dangerous. It’s time.”
Jouko closed his eyes and nodded, feeling a rush of panic in his chest.
“I’m willing to accept, whenever you’re ready.” He replied with a little bite in his voice. The elder elf motioned some figures who lingered outside the cell, and jouko was abruptly forced to his feet and walked over to a new room, holding a swirling blue portal. It took everything he had not to try to fight back, as he promised his leader he wouldn’t. Would he see him there? Was he ok? Was Jouko going to be? He tried to replace the fear and guilt he felt with these thoughts as he was, more gently than before, pushed into the portal. He limbs felt heavy and numb and he could no longer feel the ground beneath him. Jouko felt the panic grow and found he couldn’t open his eyes quite yet. When it finally became too much, he felt himself drop. He could feel sunlight on his skin and ground beneath him.
Jouko sat up and opened his eyes slowly, feeling weak and drained. His magical presence diminished to pitiful sparks, and looking at his body, he looked significantly smaller. His surroundings were the most confusing part. He seemed to be on a pale strip of pavement next to a dark road. He was in a sort of small city but the architecture was foreign from elven cities. He heard voices and realized he accumulated a small group of people, all human. A woman touched his back and spoke in a language he didn’t understand. He flinched at the touch. With whatever was left in his magic to activate a very weak, but convenient spell. Slowly, the words started to make sense.
“..-hit your head, sir? Can you understand me?” Jouko caught the last bit of what the lady said, and slowly stood up, confused and a little overwhelmed.
“I am terribly sorry to have troubled you, but I am alright.” Jouko spoke formally. Without waiting for a response, he started walking away, and ignored any protests. Jouko sped up until he was clear of most people, and stopped at a window to a shop, catching his reflection. His hair kept it’s length but lost some of its brightness, white more of a light grey. He was swimming in his robes, looking out of place from the humans. The most embarrassing differences though were his loss of any muscle and his ears. Jouko Sighed, feeling a little less rattled as the reality of the sitaution set in.
This was his new world. He spent whatever was left in his reserves to understand this lands language and has been rendered powerless. He was basically human, and in a world whose politics he did not understand.

Jacquin
Day 1, Morning

As some scared brat hides in a random cave he found, he peers at a book that he had stolen from someone's house. Yes, yes, I shall never have to be a part of that damn war. The Balance War... did he really have to go so far to achieve his own safety? Yes. I have to live, i'm important. No one else, they don't matter. He opened the book, and started flipping through the pages. Magic, magic, useless magic... there it is.
自由や死を求める
(I just slapped some words into Translate)

He read them out, loudly. "Jiyū ya shi o motomeru!" At first, nothing had happened. But then a stinging sensation came over him, and the kitsune fell to the ground in pain. "Aggghhh...!" This isn't supposed to happen! Why's this happening?! But it subsided quickly. There was a flash of blue light, and a portal appeared on the ground in front of him. "It's... Yes! After all these years, i've found it!" Without any hesitation, he hopped into the portal without hesitation, and the blue lights started to swirl all around him...

The stinging sensation came back, and it hurt more. Jacquin grabbed his head in agony as he kept falling through the portal. "AHHHG! Stop ittt!!!" His head literally felt like it was either gonna melt or explode. "Gaaaaaaah-"

"Hey, you alright? Hellooo?" The kitsune woke up groggily. Hhh... can't feel my tails...? Then, he saw it! Another person?! Are they dangerous? Probably! "Ah, you're awake, how're you-"

"Wah-no!" Jacquin shoved the man away and immediately stood up, running. "Get away from me you psychos!" He didn't know where he was going, but he had to get away from all these strangers. Where the hell am I? This isn't a sanctuary! There were buildings. Buildings everywhere. They were all sophisticated looking, but probably also dangerous! Suddenly, this metal carriage bumps into him, nearly knocking him over. *HONK* "Ohno!" They -are- trying to kill me! As he straightened himself, he then took off again, trying his best to avoid all the humans. "No no, get away from me!"

Day One - Morning

'I just wanna go back... But I can't.'
WWWHearing a sound, Zurui's eyes shot open. That's right--he wasn't home, though it's been centuries since he decided to walk away. This time, he didn't hear the roaring sound of Otekuta, the waterfall that turned his life upside down. He couldn't hear the familiar voices of children as they laughed. But he heard something.

WWWSitting up, his eyes adjusted to his environment. The first thing he saw was his spellbook, which just happened to be on top of a strange rock surrounded by some dirt and sticks. 'When did this get here?...' He thought, utterly confused. Picking it up and placing it on his lap, he opened it.

wwwAnd it just so happens, he was on a page he never knew existed. On the page was the word, "Manamune" and an incantation. 'Manamune?... that sounds like Namune.' His eyes widened with a touch of happiness as he compared it to a word from his tongue. Though not being able to understand what Manamune means, he guessed it meant 'to reverse.'

WWWStanding up, he began to chant the spell. Believing it would turn him back to normal, he closed his eyes and focused. His ears twitched to the sound of nature and other critters in the forest he was in. Trying once again, he drained all of his senses and focused all the magic he had, finding himself swirling around in a pitch black tunnel which seemed to never end. Though, he was... changing.

'Ouch...'

WWWOpening his eyes, Zurui woke up to what seemed like... Kitsune without ears? He scratched his heas as he positioned himself to sit. Looking around, his eyes were half-open as he saw something new-- what seemed to be children without any special features. Not even horns, or tails, or wings? This was new to him.

WWWThe children walked closer to him with a concerned look, 'Kon'nichiwa... Anata wa daijōbudesuka? Anata wa soko ni nemutte kimashita..' Not being able to understand it, though it had a few words a bit close to his language, Zurui seemed completely unfazed. He kept looking around, and there seemed to be strange contraptions that he has never seen before.

wwwEvery second, he grew to be more curious about where he was. Everything here was unknown to him-- even snow. But what confused him more was how the contraptions worked. There was, what seemed to be, a girl sitting on something suspended by chains.

WWWUnaware of what was happening, Zurui walked closer to the contraption as he stared at the girl.

Tamiko
Day 1 - Morning

Work is not fun.

Tami sighed to herself. Surely, missing another day of work for sleep wouldn't be so bad. This would have been her third day in a row, not the highest record she'd accomplished. After all, she only called sick 525 times during her 3 year period at her new job.

Her supervisor on the contrary, held a different opinion. He was like a calling, an uprising against Tamiko's empire of sleep. His establishment of a new employee rule (nicknamed the 'Tami...no' Rule) prevented staff from skipping more than 5 days per month. Clearly designed for Tamiko, he even threatened to get rid of her half hour break in their last phone call, considering her 5th day had gone by two weeks before the statement.

Now, she was running to work.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Tamiko's current workplace approached her view. Under the blue sky dressed in dull gray clouds, was a plaza littered in snow. Surrounding her restaurant, were other smaller food places, shops, and finally, a big Colonel Fried Chicken restaurant right across the street: Sando's sales rival.

The letters on top of the minuscule building spelled out: S-A-N-D-O-'S, in bright crimson, on a block of dark oak wood. The font looked folk-style: very rustic. To contrast, large glass panes and steel rods held the building in place: a common modern look. The sheets of glass were polished to the point where it could replace mirrors. Some could stare at it to watch their background, some: to check their appearances, and some: to stare deep into their own souls. But why would they do that when they're right in front of Sando's? Instead, they could get the viewing pleasure of watching roast chicken turn. Then they would walk in and buy food out of a simple window trick...

...is what the supervisor had planned. Of course, it didn't happen. Tamiko believed this ruse to be such a fool-proof trick, that she vowed if she witnessed anyone fall under this plan, she would never call in sick again. Everyday, the supervisor kept his fingers crossed, praying for some supernatural miracle to fulfill his plot.

Tami knelt over, puffing out tiny frost clouds from all the exercise she accomplished. Her travel would have gone smoother, had she just waited at the bus stop. Compared to the 5 minute run she accomplished, the bus would take 10, but 0 out of her leg work. Unfortunately for Tami, as the fear of losing her break accumulated, her mind drained of all the logic it had left. It was like the desperation of a child, who had their most beloved toy taken away and hidden on top of a fridge. The child would then seek out their toy with no hesitation, perhaps climbing to great heights for a tiny peek. Except, Tami would attempt to drive a CRANE without any operating experience, and tiptoe her way over the machine's tiny beams to get that toy back. There was no logic, just obsession.

Tami brushed off the snow from her large overcoat and entered through the clear glass doors. Her shift began, and lunch hour rush was starting. Although it was time to make her living, she did pray to God, hoping her nap-time did not leave her for good.

Wilhelmina Willowisp
Day One - Morning

Wandering the streets of this unusual city, Wilhelmina shuddered as the cold eventually began to seep into her bones, spreading from the tips of her fingers to the soles of her feet. Humans really were such fragile creatures, weren't they? It was a wonder how they managed to survive for so long when nature itself was their enemy. She tugged her robes closer to her body, delighting in the warmth she gained from the action. Fortunately, her suit still managed to somehow fit her smaller, more frangible form, if a tad bit loose. Compared to the other races, her kind had always been on the more diminutive side of the spectrum. 'However,' The fae stared down at her feet, which were slowly turning a pale white in the freezing temperature. 'I do wish to have invested in a pair of shoes... Even if they would have been useless with my hooves.' She thought, allowing a rather small, rueful smile to spread across her lips.

Her head suddenly snapped up, abruptly halting her steps. "This feeling..." A familiar, tingling sensation had washed over her skin. The magical energy was faint. So weak and muffled that if she were still in Alkitar, she would have never noticed it amongst her native world's magically abundant air. She wasn't there, however. In this bizarre world she had fallen into, devoid of nearly all forms of magic, the spell was about as subtle as a waterfall plummeting down onto her head. "There are others here?" She muttered, tilting her head in thought. She can't be completely sure. For all she knew, it was simply a trick of the mind. Slightly bowing her head, she contemplated her next course of action, raven hair falling forward to obscure her stormy eyes from view.

Then, she grinned. And as she did so, the already chilly weather seemed to grow even colder. Even with her dark locks shrouding her face in shadows, one would still be able to see her bared teeth, an unnatural white akin to the freshy fallen snow that enveloped her surroundings. It was a cheshire grin, of sorts, the kind that meant something very bad - or very good - was about to happen.

"Well, I'll never know unless I try, right?" And just like that, the foreboding atmosphere that surrounded her disappeared. Like a wisp of smoke. A breath on a mirror. Raising her head, Wilhelmina gained a spark in her eyes, one that spoke of the mischief fae were so fond of spreading, while her smile had turned impish. With a skip to her step, she continued on, only this time she had a destination in mind. Her path twisted and turned, as she followed the dissipating trail of magical energy that would lead her to who, or what, she was looking for. Minutes passed and she knew she was drawing closer and closer, until finally...

"I found you!" She wrapped her arms around their torso, assaulting them with a full-blown hug from the front. Squeezing tightly, she looked up at the man she had embraced and flashed him a beaming smile.

Akiko
Day 1 - (Later) Morning

Having nowhere else to go, Akiko decided to remain in this small area for the time being. It appeared the passage of time was relatively slow, as the sun had only moved a short distance since she first landed in this foreign land. She supposed that she had a fair bit of time left until darkness fell - presuming that it would, of course. What would happen then, she wondered? Would the world totally change? Would evil come out to wreak havoc until the sun came out once again? Somehow such a notion felt too ridiculous. Based on what she had observed in her short time here, the humans led a fairly peaceful lifestyle. While perhaps some of them seemed to be in a hurry, or perhaps a bit disgruntled at the worst, Akiko didn't get the feeling that any of them were exactly afraid for their safety. Perhaps that was the one silver living to this mess - at least she didn't have to worry about getting eaten or stabbed... Well, probably.

A shiver ran up her spine, prompting her to wrap her oversized white robes tighter around her unfamiliar body. It was possible she'd freeze to death, though. She decided she would get up and move again, but not just yet. For now, Akiko shifted her weight on the suspended seat, which jostled and swung gently as she moved around. At first she had been rather apprehensive to sit down on this, and while it was not exactly comfortable, it was sort of fun to let her legs dangle and feel her body sway frontwards and back. What a curious thing these humans had come up with. Part of her was tempted to try and figure out the other odd sculptures here - especially since some were different from the last place she had been - but she figured she needed to come up with a game plan first, now that her self-pity party had ended.

Kicking her legs lazily as she swung, Akiko stared at her new set of feet as she thought deeply. Shelter was her number one priority, followed by food and water. She assumed her human form would need sustenance just as any other. Perhaps she could steal some food and see where that led her. In such a seemingly calm society, she was sure that there was some sort of authoritative or peace-keeping force, likely with some kind of place where they held those who disrupted law and order. If she let herself be caught, then she could stay there until she figured out her next step. It was likely that a small human female would be treated with some degree of kindness... but of course there was always the chance that she was wrong. What if, in this world, people who looked like her were actually on the bottom of the pecking order and treated like dirt? After all, anything was possible.

Aki was just starting to weigh the risks of this idea when she noticed something in her peripheral vision. Frowning slightly, she looked up to see a human male drawing closer, his eyes seemingly fixed on her. Her heart skipped a beat. She quickly jumped off the seat, causing it to bounce haphazardly as she stood on the other side of it. Had she been back in Alkitar, with all of her powers, she would have not felt an ounce of fear. She may have even tried to approach him, too. But having no powers and such a weak little body left her at a severe disadvantage against almost everyone.

Clutching the chains that kept the seat hanging in mid-air, she stared warily at the approaching man. Gulping, she instinctively shouted at him. "Go away!" Ugh. Even her voice was pathetic. "Leave me alone! Stay away from me!" Akiko spoke in her native tongue, hoping that the volume and tone of her words would be enough to convey the message that she didn't want this creep anywhere near her. And if he still wanted to come closer, well... she had this seat to throw at him. Surely even this body's noodle arms could handle that much.

Day One - Morning

'Eh?'
WWWWalking closer, Zurui could tell the girl was not happy with him being around. He could tell just through the tone of her voice. Speaking in a somewhat familiar manner of language, Zurui couldn't help but be a little more curious about her-- but he also did not want to be mistaken. She grew to be wary of him, he thought.

WWW In a way, if Zurui wanted to survive in this seemingly "odd" location, then he thought he should at least establish relationships with its inhabitants, though some of them seemed oddly unfamiliar with the world itself. Without a doubt, the girl's shout attracted the interest of some humans. It's only been a few since he's been here, and now this?

WWWSighing, Zurui slowly sat on the ground, his eyes still fixated on the smaller girl's figure. He eyes shifted from blank eyes to eyes that seemed to be filled with kindness, though this was not the real case on what he was feeling. His mind was jumbled and he was confused, not knowing what to do. He didn't know how these humans worked.

WWWKeeping his mind's focus away from the girl, the cold weather forced itself into his attention. Only now, he felt cold, noticing that his clothes were bigger than their actual size. It was a cold morning with a vibrant sky, as the sun filtered through the clouds, drifting across the sky; cold and wet with a brisk wind sweeping the snow across the land, the morning's fresh air filled his lungs and he felt refreshed, yet he also felt so cold.

WWWLooking once more at the alarmed girl, Zurui couldn't tell how old she was-- was she a child? The cold started to get its way into his mind, he felt a little dizzy and his vision was slightly off. "Are you lost?" Speaking in his language, his fondness of children floated to the surface as he asked her with a slight smile appearing on the corner of his lips. More so-- the cold broke into his mind and changed his way of thinking.

Jouko
Day 1, Morning
Jouko wandered on, aimlessly reading street signs and building names. After the spell kicked in he was able to understand some of the writing on signs, but the neon signs that glowed like some sort of magic or flame was inside still spelled words he didn’t understand. Most likely names of establishments. The cold weather wasn’t new to him. If anything, it was the first comfortably familiar thing to him. His old home was in a snowier region in Alkitar and he was made for that element. Even with the new sensitivity and discomforts of this human body, the cold felt nice. As he walked, he couldn’t help but notice some of the locals looking at him. They all dressed weird, but similar, which meant it was he who was out of place. His layers of robes and different features made him the stranger here.
Jouko’s thoughts were interrupted abruptly as a female voice caught his attention. Before he had a chance to comprehend what was said, a pair of arms wrapped around his torso and a petite girl was dark waves hair, standing at least a head shorter than him, through herself into him in a hug. Jouko went rigid, his face beet red. Who on earth was she? Jouko didn’t think she was familiar, and wasn’t sure how to respond. How dare this girl touch him? Or was this a normal thing in this land.
“I.. I’m sorry, have we met?”
He said, failing to hide the uneasiness in his voice. When she released and smiled up at him, jouko tried to get a better look at her. She was dressed oddly as well, and was without shoes. He realized there was a possibility she was also from Alkitar. At the very least, she didn’t seem to mean any harm. She looked freezing, and just as out of place as he was. Jouko took off a layer of robe and gestured it towards her. It was much too big for him now and the girl would probably drown in it, but it was better than nothing.
“Put this on. You are dressed poorly for this weather. Why would you run around in this weather wearing no shoes?!” He said, still trying to decide why the girl came up to him.
“How did you find me?”

Wilhelmina Willowisp
Day One - Morning
Blinking once, then twice, Wilhelmina's smile appeared to brighten even further upon hearing the familiar words. "You speak Elvish!" She excitedly exclaimed in the man's native language, easily switching from the complex words of the fae to the sophisticated tongue of the elves. When you've been travelling for as long as she had, you learn to pick up on the languages of the places you visited, especially when you weren't able to use spells like the other races could. It took plenty of time and effort, but that feeling of accomplishment and gratification that rushed through her veins once she mastered a dialect made it infinitely worth it.

Not to mention, she didn't have to waste what little magical energy she had left in her body.

It seemed she made the right decision after all, to look for the source of the magic. Eagerly accepting the offered robe, she slipped it on over her own pair with ease, proceeding to immediately bask in the warmth it offered her. 'Yes, I definitely made the right decision.' She thought as she released a sigh of satisfaction, snuggling into the piece of high-quality clothing.

Now, where was she again? Oh right. Painting a ray of sunshine all over her face, she raised a hand, or rather a sleeve, and pointed at his androgynous features. "You used magic, didn't you?" She questioned him rhetorically, tilting her head to the side as she did so. "I simply followed the trail." The fae sported a playful grin. "As for your other question..." She did a little twirl, her robes flaring and swaying at the movement. An airy laugh escaped her lips. "Shoes would have been quite useless when you had hooves, wouldn't they?" The words flowed from her mouth, like a river gushing out into the sea, an eyebrow cocked up in amusement.

Akiko
Day 1 - (Still) Morning

Much to her dismay, it seemed as though her feeble yelling was of no deterrent to this stranger. But it looked like she at least got the attention of some other humans in the area. A few people walking by observed the pair as they strolled, with expressions that seemed similar to that of the old woman who had approached her earlier. Akiko briefly turned her gaze away from this man to watch some of the passersby, hoping that one might stop to see if she needed help. But no one did.

She then sensed movement out of the corner of her eye and swiftly redirected her attention to the person approaching her. Surprisingly, he had decided to take a seat on the ground instead of getting even closer. Aki's eyes narrowed and she pursed her lips, her small fists wrapping tighter around the chains until the cold metal pressed almost painfully into her soft palms. That... was weird. Someone intending to attack her wouldn't just sit like that. Unless he was hoping to lull her into a false sense of security, and then pounce on her when her guard was down!

Aki shuddered at the thought. She had met some humans in Alkitar who were disgusting perverts who preyed specifically on younger girls - she wondered if such scum existed here as well?

Deciding she didn't want to stick around to find out, she readied herself to toss the hanging seat at him anyway and run off. But just as she began to pull it towards her to give it some momentum, the man spoke in a language that sounded familiar to her. Aki froze, her eyes gradually widening as the suspicious expression fell from her face. "Huh? Come again?" Slowly, her hands fell to her sides, slightly sore from squeezing the chains so tightly. Did she hear that right? It sounded very, very much like the language of the kitsune - but just a bit off from what she typically spoke. After getting over the shock of hearing a familiar tongue, she thought about it for a moment and realized he was speaking a different dialect.

Luckily, in her years of travelling, she had picked it up, somewhat. It was fairly rare so Aki was a bit rusty, but she didn't care - she had found someone else from Alkitar, and another kitsune no less! Well, she supposed he had found her, but the details didn't matter. The main thing was that she wasn't alone anymore - perhaps he even knew more and could help her out. At this thought, her face lit up, her violet eyes big and glimmering with joy. She practically bounced over to the red-haired man on the ground and sat on her knees in front of him, her clothing splaying around her almost like a tent. Once she was at his level, she returned his gentle grin with a beaming smile of her own. "Well, um!" She was so happy and relieved that she had trouble even thinking straight. It felt as though she was about to overflow with her emotions.

After a brief moment, she was able to bring her thoughts together to speak. "Yes, I am lost," she said in his dialect, nodding her head enthusiastically. "You are from Alkitar? I don't know this place... Do you?" Aki spoke with some hesitation and much more stiffness than usual - it had probably been at least a century since she'd spoken this dialect - but she was pretty sure she was able to get her point across. She pulled her robes tighter around herself once again as she sniffed back up some of that pesky liquid that kept leaking from her nose. "I am a kitsune. I speak most the common language of our kind. Sorry for bad speaking of yours!"

Varkis - Day 1
Morning

Varkis held back a sob as he and his last remaining dragon-kin forced their way into the library. Hundreds of thousands had died, and for what? He had failed, 20 years work gone in a single day. They would stay spaces. He know there was no way back. They would be tortured to death if they were captured.
It was a fight to the death. As he and his friends awaited their doom, Varkis noticed something strange. There was a scroll sticking out of the ground, seemingly exposed by the severe damage done to the building in the battles. He picked it up, opened it, and suddenly
He wad standing in the middle f a field somewhere, far away from where he had started.
He had escaped. He was free. A moment of pure elation crashed over him, before being quashed by the realisation that he had left his friends and companions to die.
Nausea overwhelmed him, and he emptied his stomach over the grass. He looked up and saw an enormous city before him. He suddenly realised he was quite a bit shorter than he used to be. And more... pink than red. He wiped his mouth, and started towards it.
Nothing else left to do anyway. Hopefully he could find something meaningful in this new life. Something that could save him.

"WHAT IS HAPPENING!"
There was a maniac in the city screaming. Seriously, how could you not call him a maniac? People were tapping away at their phones, calling for someone to get rid of this dangerous person. Pretty soon, one cop car came in, eyes focused on Jacquin, who was meandering around aimlessly. Just another person to be sent to the mental ward. The cop stepped out of his car and started walking towards the madman. "Hello sir? Sir, what is your name?"

The not-kitsune turned around, one of his eyes twitching. "Get outta my face!" The policeman was unfazed by this, however. "Alright, Mister Get-outta-my-face, can you please tell me what your problem is?" It was him. The blue-shirt wearing moron asking questions was the problem. Jacquin shoved him and started running. "PISS OFF YOU FATASI SPIES!" He took off again.

If anybody had been around him, they might have noticed a man suddenly falling out of a portal about a foot and a half off the ground and landing on some cement and been alarmed. Thankfully for Ciel, though, his portal had dropped him behind a building where nobody else was around. He landed on his back in a heap of skirt and petticoats, unconscious.

It was a few minutes before he actually stirred, slowly sitting up. He raised lifted up one hand to rub his aching head. Ugh, what happened? He remembered his mother... pushing him through some sort of portal? That had to be some sort of bad dream, right? That had to be it, he didn't think that his mom knew how to make portals. He'd clearly fallen asleep outside or something like that. There was no way that had actually happened.

As he started to stand up, he realized something very off almost immediately. His back, where it had formerly had the weight of two wings being attached, now seemed to weigh considerably less. That wasn't right. He tried to stretch out his wings, only to realize that they weren't moving. No, definitely not right, not right at all. There was no pain, so somebody couldn't have sawed them off. He would remember something as painful as that, anyway. There was no way that he wouldn't noticed that.

He looked over his shoulder, and yelped in surprise when he noticed that the his wings were, in fact, gone. They couldn't have just disappeared, could they. He patted his back, as if hoping that simply touching his back would make them reappear. All his hands found were the slits in the fabric of his dress that had been there to allow his wings to go through. They really were completely gone, his wings had disappeared completely.

Slowly, he started to actually take in his surroundings. He hadn't seem scenery like this anywhere in Heaven in all his life. The ground was all a hard, gray material instead of the grass or cobblestone that he was used to, and the wall was... Was were those reddish rectangle? He had never seen something like that! Around him, he could hear unfamiliar sounds. The he didn't even know what to call them. Some sort of honking? A chill started to nip at the exposed skin and through the slits on the back of his dress, though his legs from the knee up were relatively warm. A part of him was thankful for his petticoats.

Had his mother... Actually shoved him through a portal to some other dimension? Slowly, he walked around the building that he had woken up behind to face the completely new surroundings. This definitely couldn't have been any part of Alkitar. People who weirdly lacked any features like wings, horns, or tails passed by, a few giving him an odd look as they passed. He didn't even notice them looking at him.

Where was he?

Zurui Yudoku
Day One - Morning

"No," Zurui answered with a slightly confused tone, "I don't know what this place is."

WWWZurui was utterly confused. What was this place? Does that mean everybody else was a kitsune? what were those children? who is this small girl? why does she know this language? a million thoughts were going up and down Zurui's head. He didn't even know what was happening-- but one thing was for sure.

He can never go back.

wwwTaking a deep breath, Zurui stood up and pat the girl's head, with a smile on his face. "It's okay." he said in a gentle tone. A few seconds after that, his smile faded away and turned into what seemed to be an annoyed look, "How did you get here?"

wwwAt first, he thought of her as an innocent, small little person who's just confused and lost. But as he spent a few more time around her, a million possibilities came up in his head. What if she's evil? what if she's just tricking him? thinking he opened up to her too much, Zurui started to be more alert and wary of this girl. to be more alert and wary of this girl.

wwwIt got colder and colder. Only wearing light and thin clothes of what seemed to look like an oversized hoodie with decorative ears, Zurui started to feel... unusual. He was not used to cold temperatures. His mind was getting more messed up every second.

Jouko
Day 1, Morning

When the dark haired girl spoke again, he realized his spell was not translating by a slight accent that offset the elvish he was hearing. A confused expression took over Jouko’s features for a second before he realized.
“You know my language? So you must have crossed through to this world today as well?” For the first time since coming here, he couldn’t help but feel a little hopeful. Jouko smiled down to the girl before him and pushed back a curtain of overgrown silver hair behind his now rounded ears. The girl seemed more comfortable in his robe, acting very carefree despite the situation.
“I am or was an elf I guess? I did cast that spell that drew your attention so I might be able to understand the natives here. I’m afraid I didn’t realize you were also like me.” He replied, a little embarrassed by his lack of perception. He raised his eyebrows at the mention of hooves.
“Your elvish is perfect, but I can tell it’s not a first language. So you had hooves, and your accent in elvish makes me believe you are a nymph or maybe fae of some variety? Excuse me if that is rude.”
He tried to discern what the girl was by appearances, but she looked just as human as he did. If he had any magic left, he would try to see if she left any sort of trail as well, but now he was truly powerless. Finally feeling more relaxed, he took in his surroundings. There was snow on the ground. His fingers felt numb with the familiar cold. The girl was probably not accustomed to this feeling on bare feet.
“My name is Jouko of the Ceald House, by the way. What might I call you, and shall we find a warmer place to talk? I’m curious as to how you ended up here.”

Wilhelmina Willowisp
Day One - Morning
"Ah yes, of course, how rude of me." Wilhelmina offered an apologetic smile to Jouko, before taking a small step back. "Wilhelmina Willowisp, at your service!" She bowed with a flourish, offering a wicked grin as she raised her head as her shadowy grey eyes gleamed with mirth. "And yes, we shall." Those words haven't even completely left her mouth when the fae immediately linked arms with the elf, and began dragging him along to who-knows-where. She certainly wasn't aware of where she was going, and that was the beauty, the thrill of it. That's exactly what's made her travels all the more... exciting.

"So, you're an elf, hm?" She looked up at her newfound companion, notably bouncing up and down with every step she took. "I suppose that's not too surprising, with your refined features elegant demeanor and all." The young woman shamelessly complimented, giggling in a pleasant manner. "You're quite intelligent, as well." Her eyes turned back towards the path in front of them, deftly ignoring the stares garnered by her and her friend's... unique appearances, to say the least. "Finding out about my species from what little hints you could discover, that is. I'm not a nymph, but I am a fae, like you've guessed, and don't worry, I didn't find it rude." She reassured him. "To be honest, I found it to be rather amusing." A smirk made it's way onto her lips, though it was one of enjoyment rather than malevolence.

"No, I don't know-"
What was the rest of that sentence? Ciel perked up a bit when he heard somebody speaking a language that he vaguely recognized. He had dabbled around in learning other languages when he was younger and could vaguely understand some of the larger race's languages. He'd never managed to get a handle on some of them, like Dragon Kin, Fenghuang, Golem, and... Quite a few others, but he knew enough Kitsune to somewhat hold a conversation and that was what counted in this situation.

Among the unfamiliar faces, it was easy to pick out two people nearby that just didn't seem to fit in. For starters, their clothes looked like they had been tailored for somebody considerably taller than them and secondly, their clothes looked way different from everyone else's. Their clothing looked somewhat familiar to the drawings of Kitsunes that he had seen, though he expected the art was outdated. They weren't foxes nor did they have ears or tails, so... could they actually be Kitsune? There had to be a reason for this, though, right?

Approaching them couldn't hurt. If anyone understood what was going on here, it would most likely be these two. He nervously gripped at the apron he was wearing. Oh, but what if they did react badly to him walking up to them? He didn't know whether or not they would react well to a stranger approaching them. Even other Angels were sometimes put off by him just because of how he dressed.

But... There was nobody else to go to...

He walked over to the pair, his gaze downcast so that he wouldn't have to make eye contact with the male. He was shorter than Ciel himself and didn't seem intimidating, but that didn't change how nervous the Angel was. The female... she looked young. Maybe it would've been easier if she was alone, he could talk to a child more easily than another adult.

"H-Hello? You two Kitsune? I-I am A-Angel. S-Sorry for bad language, don't k-know well," He said, just loud enough to be heard.

Varkis - Day 1
Noon

After several hours of mindless walking, Varkis was no closer to figuring this place out than he had been when he had first arrived. The main thing that surprised me was how free everyone was. Only slaves walked the streets of his home. Their masters flew above. There was none of that here. There were some who seemed to be doing a job of some kind, but others who were just... walking, with no clear purpose. It was strange to say the least.
He had sort of figured out the new body, but he still had no idea why he was trapped in this form. It was a lot squishier than his normal body. Case in point, his knee was bleeding quite badly, courtesy of a sharp branch.
He was tired of attracting stares everywhere he went, and so walked along the back alleys. He was just passing another building when his stomach rumbled. He realised it had been at least a day since he last ate and the building was emanating a delicious smell. He opened the door, and walked in. There, unattended, was a massive vat of oil, with... what looked like meat frying inside. Meat was a rare delicacy, so Varkis immediately went to grab it. It was boiling hot, but Varkis didn’t fear it. He could dip his hand in molten steel and not feel a thing. Strangely enough, the heat seemed to... restore him, if only a little. He looked down at the arm that had entered the oil, and concentrated. For a less than a second, he saw a glimmer of red scales.
“There!” He shouted. It made sense, honestly. Heat had always been how he’d survived. If he hadn’t been able to survive insane temperatures, he never would have been appreciated by that blacksmith, and if he hadn’t had that... he shuddered. That wasn’t something he wanted to think about.
Never mind that, I’m weak now, I have to get stronger again!
On that note, he threw everything but the oil out of the fryer, and started dousing himself with it.

Day 1 - Noon
Time flew. Morning rush was a breeze, and with the employees out of breath, Tami assumed this would allow some time for them to rest.

But she was wrong.

After an employee sent out a simple bucket order of fried chicken, a scReaM emerged from the back. It was Blume, an amateur cook that Tami recently hired. Afraid it would be a lethal incident, Tamiko rushed over to the sound. Then a crash came about, and...a spill? It couldn't be...

Her fears were met in an extremely inconceivable manner. Some metal-coated bozo ripPED out their frying machine from the plug, fished out all the chicken, and was dousing himself in the cooking oil. Beside him sat Blume, fallen over in fear. Another employee called Jeff merely stood, shocked from the sight. She couldn't fathom what she was watching, yet the machine technically tipped over as she theorized.

Although it was a scene that would freeze any human being on sight, Tamiko differed. She shrieked,

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING IN MY RESTAURANT?".

Immediately, she grabbed the nearest phone and dialed the emergency number. Calling for an ambulance, she turned back to the other two workers and yelled,

"You two better have a good reason to why y'all never noticed this thing coming from the backdoor, and for just letting him boil to death".

They snapped back to reality, and moped away. Jeff and Blume returned back to work, awaiting for their sentences at the end of the day.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
As the unenthusiastic call with her emergency provider ended, she turned and stared at all the chicken surrounding the now oil-coated man.

"All 4 bags of chicken, all gone to waste".

That meant a deficiency of ¥20000 from the company's current 'end-day' sales goal. She sulked. Her boss wouldn't like this at all. Accepting the loss, she proceeded by calling another staff member, and requesting them to drop another 4 bags of chicken. Luckily their backup machine at the back was still in working condition, just...not as clean as the one hanging over the man's head.

Tami left out the back EXIT, shaking her head gently, awaiting emergency assistance to arrive.

Varkis - Day 1
Noon

After terrifying two other humans who came across him, Varkis was starting to feel like he’d done something wrong. He followed the lady who’d screamed at him out of the door to apologise.
“I feel as if I’ve just inconveniences you. Is there anything I can do to make up for your loss”?”
It was a strange sight, a “6,5” man covered in boiling oil yet unharmed, apologising to a furious woman in a Sando’s uniform.

Jouko
Day 1, Noon
Jouko tensed at Whilheminas touch as she pulled him to god knows where. He didn’t protest though, knowing that if he were to lead the way they would be no more productive. He absently looked out for signs that indicated a place to stay. What would he do about money if he found a tavern (or this words equivalent)? He had all his material possessions aside from clothing stripped away. He doubted the former fae had any sort of currency worth anything here. When the black haired girl started complicating him, Jouko turned beet red again, even ears showing some pink. He cleared his throat.
“Oh well um.. there is no need for flattery miss Willowisp. You are quite kind to a stranger like me.” He said, still getting over his embarrassment. He felt eyes on him, which was not so unusual where he was from, but now they were more judging. He was a weird outsider. Part of him worried for his leader, hoping he wasn’t sharing in such a fate. Though, he might be dead by now if he ended up in a worse place.
Jouko tried to shake the thought away, and turn his attention back to his company. He looked over at a sign to a colorful building just across the street, windows revealing booths and tables inside.
“Let’s go in there.and get warm, alright? Do you know how to speak the language here? I’m afraid even after using a translating spell I don’t know what a ‘Sando’s’ is. Hopefully we don’t have to pay to enter.”

Tamiko
Day 1 - Noon
Tami thought she was dreaming. This buffoon raised a frying machine high above his head, and took a shower under a vat of hot 380° cooking oil. Yet, he stood before her, completely unharmed. She thought he was unconscious from shock, merely standing in the back room due to his stature.

Still upset over the lost chicken, she heard him out, and took some time staring at him. He could simply pay her back the losses, but... she began contemplating the potential of his work abilities. He was incredibly tall. His services at the front would end up being useless...he would scare everyone away. Yet, his sturdy build caught her eye. Delivery and manual services would be a cinch for him. Plus, the fact he didn't suffer any major injuries from that suicide attempt... must have meant he had extremely tough skin. Perfect to reduce potential workplace injuries. She wouldn't have to worry more about redeeming Sando's group insurance.

Now... she had to worry about his depression. Surely, if he had a motive to drop an entire vat of oil, it would be to kill himself, no? There was no other reason, in Tami's mind.

Every next step of her plan was clear to her now. This strange man, as suspicious as he was, was overly suitable for backroom work at Sando's. She would fire her two useless new employees, and deploy this new tank as a killer chicken fryer! Additionally, Tami would send him to therapy, to help him cope with his mental disorder and prevent another... incident like that to occur. It was perfect. As long as he took the second option.

"Alright, you can make up for it, as long as you pay back the sales deficit, or if you work at Sando's part-time", she offered.

Of course, she had to assume this man had some sort of job. It wouldn't be reasonable if she didn't. Part-time would be enough for him to squeeze work at Sando's along with his career.

"If you decide not to pay, I'll have you work maybe 2-3 hours, 5 days per week on minimum wage, for now. This will be to pay off the ¥30000 deficit you created from my sales".

She hid a tiny smirk. Tami was off on her deficit calculations by ¥10000... but for good reason. This would hold him for nearly 3 weeks, enough for her to find new employees, or possibly to persuade him to stay. "After do that, you are free to go".
