"Not interested"

Those were the words that the young man spoke to the young woman. Him offering her a rather cold look as she asked him to be her boyfriend, him never even thinking of doing such a bothersome thing anyway. All in all he was more interested in getting into a good university and providing for his mother later in life, such things as love and the like could wait till later. In these years the only thing that mattered was the future and carousing with someone wasn't in the cards.

After flat out turning the young woman down he simply walked past her and added as he made his way by, "Focus on your studies. Having a partner comes after ones future is safe." With that said he started off, the school day having ended and him on his way back to his house for the afternoon.

Those sudden words rung in her head, making her feel uneasy. She holds her chest in a sudden motion, Why does it hurt so much? She thought to herself. She wanted to say something but the only thing that would come out was nothing just nothing. As she watched him walk off into the school building people started to whisper and laugh at the thought of a girl in class F trying to date the genius in class A. With her head hung down low in great mortification she simply walked into the school halls trying to hide her face. Throughout the rest of the day she refused to talk to anybody, making her stand out even more. When the dismissal bell rang the halls flooded with teenagers rushing to exit out of the building, Yang Mi stayed behind and contemplated what she should do with the ineffectual letter set before her, "It has no use whatsoever." She paced back and forth and finally slipped it into her backpack and sprinted out of the school.

The day had ended and Akechi was making his way back to his home, the day being more or less like it's usual self apart from the girl from earlier i the day. Regardless he didn't make any stops on the way back and swiftly made it back to his home, it being an apartment situated a stones throw from the school. Wanting to not burden his mother he said it was alright that she tended to work, him simply staying in the apartment alone most of the time. Though she still visits often and dotes like she always use to in his formative years, such is a mothers ways. Regardless it was very apparent that he came from money, the apartment near the top floor with an additional two bedrooms not including his own said that in volumes.

Once he arrived the first thing he did was get in the shower, him the later starting something for him to eat as the day started to wax on a bit. Though unbeknownst to him his cell had a message from his mother, it entailing something about a fire. The message stayed un-read as he tended to making him something to eat.

As she raced down the busy street of Osaka, she tripped over a crack in the sidewalk lacerating her lip open. She put two of her fingers up to her lip and looked at the blood appear on the tip of one of her fingers, "That hurt." Even though the large cut on her lip and the bruise on her knee she continued to run towards her home...which had been engulfed in flames. The first thing that came to her mind was her father who was sitting lugubriously on the curb. Ignoring the flames, she wrapped her arm around her father's shoulder leading him to the opposite side of the road, "How did this happen?" She sat down next to him while letting those words reach him. Her dad shook his head in incredulity, "I don't know, but I got us a place not to far from here." It was quite obvious that her dad was trying to ignore the thought that every bit of her belongings, her dad's belongings, and her deceased mother's belongings were all gone.

Eventually he glanced down at his phone while she moved some aubergine and green pepper miso stir fry onto his plate, it a few items that he had simply sitting in the fridge. While looking at the phone he sat at the table and scrolled down and read the message, him garnering what it entailed as he took a bite of his meal. Honestly he didn't care that someone would seemingly stay at his place, there after all enough rooms to accommodate since his mother is often absent. Though the name Yang Mi was rather familiar and upon further thought he remember that it was the very same girl who had asked him out earlier this very day. Considering their house burned down he simply replied back to the message, 'Fine, I do not have a problem with it. I will be present at the apartment.'

Though having other people living with him would surely be a hindrance to his life he didn't see it interfering with his future plans what so ever. That in mind he continued with his meal and eventually started to clean up the dishes.

Time had passed after that message, the fire department had came and did their duty. Her father insisted to stay at their Japanese Cuisine restaurant that he decided to own part time. There was a small room for the employees that had a bunk bed. Even after the rejection, there was still a small part inside of her that was excited to be living with Akechi knowing that she wouldn't cross his mind even once.

While Yang Mi sat at the bar stool with a plate of sashimi, makizushi, and onigiri. As she was shoving food into her face she was trying to do her homework without spilling sliced fish onto her paper. Her dad had been on the phone with her business partner trying to situate what the plan was going to be. After he got off the phone he smiled at his daughter, "My friend from the company I work at is very excited to have you living with her, she said that she has always wanted to have a daughter." She smiled in response and nodded, "I'm delighted to be invited to live over there."

'Expect her in the next hour or so,' a text message stated from his mother, him looking down at the phone as he finished with the dishes.

He replied back with a short and sweet response, 'Okay. I'll be here.' The prospect of living with someone other than his mother wasn't something that he ever really put much thought into, him finding the prospect to be very unlikely. That in mind though he did recognize that a home had to burn down to make it happen so perhaps it was still unlikely even though it decided to happen. With all of those thoughts in his head he moved to the bathroom and started on cleaning himself, there after all only one bathroom in this apartment. Considering the amount of time that had passed he suspected the arrival would be shortly after he exists the shower, that is if the time frame was correct.

Her dad ushered her into their car in a hurried motion. While the small townhouses disappeared as they drove the large apartment complexes appeared with bright lights surrounding them. Even though Yang Mi has been in the heart of the city, she had never lived there. When they arrived at the large apartment building, her dad checked the trunk for no reason, "That's right, there's nothing to carry." Her dad guided her to the top floor which was only one apartment alone. Yang Mi was stupefied when she thought of the size of the apartment. Before she could say something her father had already rung the doorbell.

As the doorbell rung Akechi was currently drying his hair after putting on some loose fitting pajama bottoms the smell of a rather fragrant peach shampoo rather apparent. Regardless of his lack of a shirt he walked to the door and opened it without a second thought, him still drying his hair as he did so. While he stood in the door way the green bottoms he was wearing contrasted rather well with his eyes. "Punctual arrival," he simply said with a light nod of his head, him then adding as he looked to the father, "Mother has told me the situation. Your daughter is to stay in the free room."

With all of that said he paused for a short moment and then stepped aside for he to enter the apartment, and also the father as well if he wished, "Since the weekend started tomorrow you can sleep in." He looked back to the father and continued, "Do you wish to inspect the apartment before allowing her to stay?" While he was asking this he was slipping on the matching top now, since he had finished drying his hair.

She gave Akechi a sheepish smile due to this rendezvous, only to reveal her bleeding lip. While finally being invited in she just awkwardly sat down until her father insisted on going into her room which had been decorated by Akechi's mom. It was filled with stuffed animals, small cute things, pink curtains, and a silk bed set. Yang Mi sighed and smiled at the room and sat down at her desk. She pulled out the last of her C.S.I notes until she felt the love letter with the scratch n' smell sticker. She grabbed her backpack in a sudden rage and tossed it onto the ground with a frustrated grunt.

It seemed the young woman was a mess, the busted lip being just another piece of evidence to that fact. Regardless he simply let her be on her way, him only just showing the father to the room and then going back over and taking a seat in the sofa-with a book-that was in the living area. Considering the fact that there wasn't any time for the room to be done up in things for her it was pretty much bare bones. It had a bed, a dresser, a mirror, and a desk and chair. After all no one was using the room and it was just a guest room, there wasn't a reason for it to be done up in any way.

After they had a look at the room he returned and handed over an ice pack to Yang Mi, him saying as he did so, "I suggest going into the bathroom and cleaning the wound." With that said he paused for a moment and then look from her father back to her, "Salt water also seems to help in it healing." After he said that he made his way back to the living room and sat back down on the couch, him returning to the book.

After receiving the cold ice pack, Yang Mi plopped onto her bed and tended to her open lip. She made small noises signifying that she didn't know what she was doing. After playing around with her cut for a while, she opened her cut even more which made tears appear. "Ow." Yang Mi's dad walked in to check on how his daughter was doing, only to see that his daughter had a bigger cut and she was a complete mess. "What happened? Why is your cut open even more?" Yang Mi's father ushered her into the living room and asked Akechi to help.

Besides the complete humiliation that her father caused him in this situation, she just smiled and said nothing to embarrass her even more.

He was disturbed a bit when they walked back into the living area, him looking over the back of the couch as the father asked him to help. His eyes trailed back over to Yang Mi, him looking at the lip that had started to bleed again. "Fine," he simply said as he placed the book down on the side table, him standing and continuing as he did so, "Since the hour is late it would be best if you went back to your residence." At that moment he was speaking to the father, him being told that only Yang Mi would be staying in the apartment with him. They had one extra room not two after all.

With that said he walked over to the young woman and pulled her along into the bathroom, "Come." Once in the bathroom he retrieved a clean tissue and dampened it slightly with some cold water, him standing in front of her as he cleaned up the area a bit. "Breath out of your nose for now so it doesn't get infected," he remarked as he put the tissue aside, him then adding as he applied some lip repair balm that he had in the medicine cabinet, "You're lucky mother had some from when she tripped and fell last month." While he was doing all of this he was quite close to the young woman, and he even held her face in place with his free hand while applying the balm.

Once done he said with a slight raise of his brow, "If you agitate it again that's on you."

Without protest Yang Mi entered the bathroom and sat on the counter. She pulled down her skirt due to comfortableness of the freezing counter. While the man in front of her was cleaning her open wound, she perpetuated a calm face even though inside she was going crazy. She disregarded the comments that came into her head: As for say, He's so handsome. Why is he that close. I want to touch is hair. When he started to talk she snapped out of it and gave him her undivided attention. To avoid mortification or despondency she nodded.

When he let those words into her brain to process it that excited part of her began to get enraged, yet she smiled and nodded. When she reached her room she snatched a piece of paper and her pen and started to express her anger onto the piece of paper set before her.

Akechi was more or less done for the day, him simply abandoning the book he had decided to read earlier setting it aside for another day. Regardless it seemed that the addition of her in the apartment would indeed make things a bit different. Perhaps his mother agreed to the arrangement not becasue she knew the man but instead she thought it would be helpful for Akechi. With that in mind though he retired to his room and moved the covers back on the bed, him slipping under and laying his head on the pillow.

He sigh a small bit at the comfort of the bed and then flicked the switch above his bed, the lights went dark and his eyes closed. The day had been eventful and he was certain the days to come would be just so as well.

Yang Mi refused to sleep, she wanted to study everything she could to give herself a better disposition. When she was satisfied with her work, it was already 4:00 am. Yang Mi sighed and walked out of her room to the kitchen to get some water. She yawned and straightened herself out. All of a sudden everything around her started to become wonky, What is this? What's happening? Yang Mi had thought to herself, the next thing that happened was that she had fainted behind the island in the kitchen.

Akechi woke early like he always did, him going into the bathroom and doing all of the usual beginning of the day rituals. Though when he walked into the kitchen he looked on the ground to see Yang Mi unconscious on the floor, although it didn't seem that she busted open the lip again this time. As that thought went through his head he checked for a pulse and then flipped her over on her back, him figuring that she probably was just sleep deprived. He hardly thought that she would be the early riser type, so with that in mind he picked her up off of the floor and started into the Living room. "Such a bother," he simply said and then sighed lightly.

He laid her down on the couch and lifted her head up so he could also sit down, her head now laying in his lap. He had initially decided to spend the day watching movies and he wasn't about to let this stop him from doing so. With her now laying on the couch he threw the blanket over her upper and lower half and simply watched some older movies while she slept. Seeing as how she was still breathing and evidently sleeping calling emergency services hardly seemed needed.

As Yang Mi could hardly feel nor hear anything she continued to get the sleep she needed. She slept soundly, until all of her hair had fallen in front of her face making her sleep more of a chore. She moved over so she was facing upward making her look like an ignoramus with her hair all over her face. Besides her looking odd, it was quite cute, it definitely showed her bubbly disposition. Yang Mi pulled the blanket up to her neck and continued to stay in a deep sleep.

She had dreamed of how she wanted her confession to be like, she wanted to have a happy ending only for it to come out as a disaster, causing her embarrassment that'll last her all of the school year. This dream caused tears to appear from her tear ducts making her look more like a mess.

His eyes were on the television so he didn't see much of anything that was happening with her, although he did feel her move a small bit throughout. Eventually though he looked down and raised a brow at the small amount of tears that were appearing in Yang Mi's eyes. The first thing that came to mind was that it was a bad dream, which surely could cause such a thing to happen in ones sleep. With that in mind he brushed the hair out of her face, and then wondered how long she would be sleeping. While he brushed her hair out of her face he glanced over at his phone since it made the ring one noise.

It was rather loud so it just might wake her up, although who really knew seeing as how he didn't really know the girl that much.

Yang Mi felt some movement which caused her to move more towards Akechi. She brought her small legs up to her stomach and made herself more snug by holding onto her shirt a bit. She wasn't belligerent with his shirt though. A small tear made its way down her cheek and onto Akechi's shirt and so did others. She made a warm smile when she saw Akechi in her mind but that soon changed into a slight frown. She soon nuzzled her face into his shirt at the thought of this terrible bad dream.

While she slept more or less soundly he simply picked up the phone and read what was sent to him in a message.

It was from his mother and it read thus, 'At some point this weekend take Yang Mi to a clothing shop and get her some outfits. She can hardly just wear what's on her back after all.' A second message was right after the last one, 'Also make sure to pick up a toothbrush for her as well.'

After reading the both of them he sent back a message, 'Okay, I'll do it sometime today.' In all honesty he didn't really mind shopping but this might be another thing entirely, seeing as how he would be shopping with someone else by his side. Considering the state of the young woman right now she honestly wondered if she would even want to go out and purchase clothing and the essentials. With that in mind he looked up at the clock and saw that it showed noon time, him then looking down at her and lightly shaking her shoulder, "Time to wake, there are things to do today."

When Yang Mi felt his welcoming, soft touch she rubbed her eyes and sat up. Not even minding the fact that she had been lying on her crush's lap she just relaxed her back onto the cushion. The fact that she had been sleep deprived made it more reasonable to have no clue what was going on. Yang Mi looked over at Akechi and in the oddest way asked, "Am I okay?" She rubbed her forehead and tried to keep herself from falling face forward onto the coffee table. Her body was all wobbly making balance hard for her. "I don't feel fine."

Soon after, she had passed out again in the most uncomfortable position.

He sighed with a light shake of his head, him then laying her back down on the couch comfortably again. "Suppose we will have to leave later then" With that said he simply went back to watching his movies, letting hours pass him by while the young woman caught up on sleep. To be completely honest he didn't really want to go this early in the day anyway, him more or less just figuring on getting it done faster. He wasn't one who lived by the phrase, why do things today when they can be put off for tomorrow.

Regardless she decided to sit there until she decides to wake up, and when she did he would be off with her to get things she needed.

While in deep sleep she bit her tongue really bad causing it to bleed heavily. She woke up and held her cheek in pain. Yang Mi ran to the bathroom and spat blood into the sink. She grabbed some toilet paper and slipped it into her mouth to capture the blood. Her legs quivered from not standing up causing her to loose her balance. I'm a mess. No wonder Akechi doesn't like me. She sighed and fell onto the bathroom floor, signifying that she had given up. Her throat was itchy from the lack of liquid and her body was numb.

Akechi watched as she rushed away, it seeming that she had injured herself yet again. Quite frankly he wondered if she perhaps was the unluckiest person on the whole planet at the moment. With that in mind though he stood from the couch and followed her on her path to the bathroom, him lucky enough to have arrived just before she started to fall to the ground again. He reached out and caught her before she could make her way down all of the way, him saying as he did so, "Perhaps she need body guards to protect her from herself." One sigh escaping his lips he lifted her back up again and carried her from the bathroom, him glancing over and seeing the blood in the sink.

Once back in the living room he sat her next to him and put his arm around her waist so she wouldn't get away again. Quite frankly he didn't need her falling on the ground again or injuring herself anymore, it was frankly ludicrous as far as he thought.
