Fantasy Rediscovering the Forgotten (w/Obsidian)

JustYourFantasy

Yiling Patriarch
Despite what Mortals and Immortals believe, Pantheons come and go. They rise and fall. Eons can go on without end but the end will surely come. Once grand and seen as impossible to fade, shall disappear into myth. It is the fate of all Life. Time really was a fickle thing.

A ruined building, at one point an imposing temple. Vines crawled up the cracked and fallen walls. Insects and animals alike have made their home among the rubble. Discripent and unassuming, many have overlooked it. How could a building this bad off house anything anymore? Entangled by weeds and vines alike.

Rusted torches along the cracked walls lit with the faintest flame, disappearing soon after. A ghost perhaps? Many rumors danced upon the minds of those traveling through this dark forest. No one has ever stayed longer than a single night, with the aura of the area screaming at them to leave. Lest they become one with the darkness.

Leaning against a moss covered wall, a single figure hunched over breathing heavily. Black hair fell in their face, hiding their unusual identity. Then what could only be called a glitch happened and their entire appearance shifted to one with shorter white hair and emerald green eyes, the white flecks glowing against the darker color.
“Freyja, check the borders. Something is com- Arugh!” The figure barely managed to spit out their command before their legs collapsed. As they hit the rocky ground, their appearance shifted yet again, long black and white hair sprawled around them. Breathing slowly to a more calm manner, the male raised his head- sightless eyes peered straight ahead unblinking.

Slowly but surely, the man stood on two bare feet. Stepping away from the wall, he walked forward with small flames of light flickering into existence in the almost nonexistent metal torches. His left hand brushes against the wall, guiding him along. Reaching two mostly broken doors, he placed his fingers against the wood and his lips parted.

A thrum of magic radiated from the strange being and a focus of magic swirled into appearance and flowed around Taosjun. Pushing the double doors open, the magic pulled away and floated to the center of the room where it wrapped into a floating ball of light and dark.
Moving forward, the God of Life and Death reached out towards the orb and let go an almost relieved sigh. Tendrils of magic met him halfway and danced along his arm. Flashes of color and voices filled the Gods mind and a faint frown turned his lips downward.

“It’s beginning again. Another turn of the ages… Normally something to not worry about but- what’s this? Someone is pulling at dangerous puppet strings,” his voice was quiet, laced with a montone edge. Glancing to the side, the Immortal gazed at his wolf companion who’d led the intruder to him. “Someone is trying to reach outside their domain of power. Isn’t that naughty, Freyja?” his voice shifted to a smoother drawl and his form changed to the one with dark hair and a smirk stretched across a burned face.

Having guests was not a normal occurrence for Taosjun so being polite was not at the top of his list. Besides, he very much enjoyed speaking with Freyja and it was her who always stayed by his side. So she got priority over anyone else who might grace him with their presence.

“My Lord, I feel offended that you won’t give us the simplest of greetings after we’ve been away for so long,” Two hissing voices spoke in simultaneous sarcasm. The creatures were humanoid looking but the scales along their bodies indicated otherwise.
Taosjun chuckled and turned his gaze upon his snake-like ‘guests’. “Apologies. It has been so long that I forgot what you looked like in your human forms. What news do you bring?”

The two figures glanced at one anotherin silent communication before looking back at their Master. “There is talk of War among the Immortals. Panic is rising once more.”

Taosjun blinked then he nodded slowly, “I see. I wonder how things will play out this time.”
Name: Taosjun, God of Life and Death
Age: Unknown
Place of Birth: The Realm of Mylel Anore
Gender: Male
Species/Racial Origin: Deity

Appearance/Description: As the God of Life and Death, the man has three forms. Light, Dark, and his ‘Normal’ appearance, which is a mix of the two. These forms are normally easy for him to shift into, but the last few decades his control of what form he takes has… weakened. In fact, if he isn’t randomly switching he is stuck in his Normal form.
As the God of Life and all things light, Taosjun snow-white hair is at a shorter length coming to the bottom of his ears and cut in a somewhat messy manner. His skin is pale and limb lithe, not a scar in sight. The white hair frame an angular face and dark emerald green eyes, flecked with white. The only thing blemishing his skin are the various tattoos; a sun on his lower back, moon on his chest, and the ancient writing tattooed all the way around his neck.
Taosjun counterpart, God of Death and darkness has long midnight black hair. Which brushes against the floor when he stands, if it isn’t in a braid; he prefers the complex looking ones if he chooses to braid it at all. In this darker form, his skin is a deep brown, littered from head to tie in scars. Ranging from larger to the small ones a child could occur falling from a tree. The largest two are on his back and face; a deep word carved into his back and half his face badly burn-scarred. Aside from those, laceration marks could be seen up and down his arms, legs, and bottom of his feet. Lastly, the male’s eyes are a light icy blue with black flecks.
Finally, the God’s Normal form. This form is a balance between the two. From his hair being grown to the middle of his back, one-half black and the other white. To his skin being a much lighter tan, the lacerations on his arms and feet the only scars. While the tattoo around his neck is the only tattoo. Taosjun eyes in this form are sightless, left eyes black and the left white. No, pupils to be seen.

Personality/Attitude: Taosjun used to have an everlasting smile tilting his lips upward, a frown never visible by most people. He spoke kindly, voice filled with warmth and understanding. Now though, it’s devoid of most emotions except frustration and exhaustion.

Family/Friends/Pets/Etc: A giant wolf-hybrid, named Freyja. Two snakes; a Rattlesnake (darker gray and black) named Anubis and a Black Mamba named Aphrodite.
Skills/Talents: As the God of Life and Death, he’s able to heal grave wounds and bring the dead back to life- at a limit. On the other side of the coin, he’s able to send those deserving to the underworld.
Hobbies/Interests: The God has found he enjoys star-gazing and mapping out said stars, baking (his sweet-tooth will be the death of him), and swordplay.
Philosophy of Life: "Life and Death are simply two sides of the same coin."
Education/Special Training: Being around for as long as Taosjun has, he knows quite a bit about the world around him. Though, now no one cares to listen to what he has to say. On the darker side of things, he’s proficient in poisons and other torture techniques.
Occupation: None.
Other: N/A
