Soft Apocalypse
The emergence of unnatural abilities was said to have started around the first half of the 1800s. With tragedies from individuals unable to control their newfound powers, the public was fearmongered into persecuting those who exhibited "unnatural" abilities. Dubbing them the "Unholies" and by the end of 1841, more than 500 individuals were unjustly executed for "preservation of public safety". It wasn't until the Crimea war that the Alliance facing Russia saw the use of 'unnatural abilities' to help turn the tide. For the promise to an end of the persecution and protection of these individuals, they formed the "Unholy Army".
With a victorious end to the war, the promise is kept and persecution of these individuals is outlawed. Though groups like the Catholic church still saw the unholies as a threat - they would lynch whoever they came across. Not only that, but crime syndicates taking advantage of wartime have formed with powered individuals of their own, raking chaos across Europe. In order to deal with ability-based threats, under Queen Victoria's order, an agency of these individuals was formed with several goals in mind:
- Protect the crown
- Serve England (And its alliances)
- Fight threats and handle cases pertaining to the use of abilities.
Edgar Kinsley oversees the agency as director and head of operations.
Ife Jang oversees intelligence and communications
Arjun Karim oversees support and training
The world within this RP is heavily Victorian era inspired. There will be slight changes here in there in terms of fashion, culture, and historical events that will best fit the setting to a superpower RP.
It begs the question how much would the world have changed in the 1800s if superpowers had emerged?
Since the emergence of abilities, there has been a global push to cater to handling abilities. Massive efforts of research and innovations have taken place to the point where certain ideas and inventions that would be created much later in history found it's origin in the mid-1800s (i.e flame retardants, better ballistic armor, better medical knowledge, etc.)
In terms of fashion, agents of the Queen's Hand have their own style of clothing that is meant to help them be blend into a public setting but flexible enough to fight in. Depending on the individual, there may be adjustments to their outfit to best handle their ability.

-1834 the first emergence of powers
Incidents:
- Eyewitnesses report of a welder whose hands produced the fire as the cause of the incident. 37 reported dead, 1 missing. It is regarded as the first emergence of powers as the world is thrown into chaos through similar incidents such as the fire over the course of several years.
- Man's hand turns into blade accidentally killing himself
-1840: Mass movement to persecute "unholy" individuals
There's a call to hunt down these dangerous individuals with the Catholic Church the head of pushing this agenda. Through public fear, they are labeled "Unholies" most believed to have been cursed by God or demons themselves. After 1841 these hunts have led to hundreds of wrongful deaths as it has been turned into a witch hunt whether they exhibited powers or not.-1853: Crimea War begins and the focus beings to shift away from the hunts
-1855: The Queen's "UnHoly" Army is formed (Protection of powered individuals in return of service under Queen Victoria during the Crimea war)
-1856: Crimea War ends with the help of the "unholy": Law is established to protect powered individuals as long as they serve England. But the public is still wary.

Chapter 1
This will give you some sense of what abilities can exist in this world and should help you with what abilities you want your character to have. Feel free to use this as a basic inspiration for your character but feel free to DM me if you are unsure about anything!
Tips for writing your ability:
1. Remember that we are starting all our characters (besides NPCs) with a basic form of the powers. Abilities did not exist until ~50 years ago at the start of the story. We will develop these abilities as the story progresses so leave room for growth!
2. Have realistic strengths and limitations. Limitations can be based on time, energy, athleticism, and more. I invite you to get creative with this part!
3. Try to be specific with descriptions. Like for elemental manipulation: Which part of the body can produce the ability? Is there a certain way your character must cast their ability? Any objects involved with your ability?
4: Don't feel limited by what is listed under each category. If you have something in mind that would fit into the universe feel free to discuss it with me.
5: I plan to develop our powers in a certain direction that will include manifesting other abilities in the same category to a realistic extent. Example: Someone who started out something under the psychic category like telekinesis has found themselves able to also read minds. We will expand more on this once the RP starts and what everyone wants to aim for with their abilities! So keep in mind a roadmap for your ability when you're filling out the application.

Departments
The Queen's Hand is made up of three departments all acting as one unit on missions. Each department head can act as a mentor figure as well as provide guidance on missions for the agents.
Headed by Edgar Kinsley, the Operations department is suited for individuals who have abilities capable of front lining and engaging in combative elements of a mission. They should also be capable/are trained in diffusing situations and making split-second decisions in a fight.
Operations
IntelligenceHeaded by Ife Jang, Intelligence agents scout and collect intel before and during the mission. They go hand in hand with the support department in making sure the mission is achieved as smoothly as possible. They are trained to be covert and should be able to collect information without the opposition knowing.
SupportHeaded by Arjun Karim, the support department provides assets for missions through abilities and gadgets whether it's medical, transportation, communication, etc. They along with intelligence are the backline in combat engagements but the front line in the foundation of the mission.
Missions
Missions are carried out by one unit with 2-3 different teams in a unit depending on the situation. Each team will usually consist of 2 operations, 1 intelligence, and 1 support. For the sake of this RP, everyone will be under one unit. Teams will be decided by plotting in the discord and mainly by me before missions happen.
