• as a child kuroi was cheerful and upbeat, happy to lend a hand where he could and interested in learning all things ninja. however, age and experience has mellowed him out drastically, into someone who sees the world as a glass half empty. he's a pessimistic about the frivolous things: regarding love as something he will never fall too, and has since dropped all of the hobbies he enjoyed as a youth, save painting. his teammates regard him as someone coolly efficient: able to keep a level head in stressful situations, but unwilling to play risky. he regards his past self as a naïve boy, who believed the world was better than it was. he’s a good ninja; clever in his plans and adaptable, but a hollow shell of a person.

• born under a eclipse to a civilian family in kirigakure, kuroi's twenty-two years have not necessarily been happy ones. a superstitious bunch, some of his family believed that his birth was a sign of misfortune to come, a belief that was later adopted by some of his peers, leading to the jeering moniker "misfortune's child". though his father and his older sister, akane, held him at arms length, his mother and later, the twins, adored him. kuroi grew up not unhappy, but occasionally lonely.
  
  the rift between him and his father only grew when he presented his ambition to become a ninja. as the eldest son, it was assumed that he would one day take over the family's tea shop, a sentiment kuroi vehemently disagreed with. with the help of his mother, he was able to attend the academy where he would remain until his graduation as a genin, where he was assigned to team 3 beneath jounin okutaka alongside teammates makino and akizumi. it was under okutaka-sensei that his natural affinity for seals and inking really blossomed. after making chunin, the team split apart, although kuroi continued to study fuuinjutsu under okutaka-sensei.
  
  during his sixteenth year, his family life deteriorated drastically. a secret revealed shook his beliefs to their core: a world once familiar suddenly filled with strangers. shortly afterward his parents separated. for a few months, kuroi continued to live with his mother and the twins despite the prevailing awkwardness, however when a mission gone wrong killed itsuki and left tsuno permanently maimed, he moved out, unable to handle the shame of being the cause. (the twins just wanted to be like their big brother, after all. they became ninja to follow his path.)

Name: Senju Kazuma.
Age: 12.

Nature Affinity: Water release, earth release.
Goal: To live up to the Senju name and make his mother proud.
Preferred Weapons: Alongside his academy weapons training, Kazuma has some experience with the tanto and is learning the kusarigama.

Appearance: Kazuma has fair skin, sleet gray eyes, and reddish-brown hair. He wears a brown armbands, a green shirt tucked into a knee-length brown hakama, and calf-length brown pants. The back of his shirt is stitched with the Senju's clan symbol, which is hidden beneath his gray scarf. He wears protective googles over his eyes. His outfit is decorated with various little green and white accents.

Personality: Kazuma is introverted and levelheaded. His mother has always called him mature for his age, which is an ideal he's strived to live up too. Beneath the surface, he has a bit of a playful side to him, something which he's tried to repress. He has perfectionist tendencies. Beneath his cool exterior lays a maelstrom of anxiety and self-doubt.

Strengths: Great chakra control, good memory, adaptable.
Weaknesses: Perfectionist, wip

History: Since the passing of his father at the age of five, Kazuma and his mother, Ema, are the last of their clan remaining in Konoha. Despite this, his mother has stressed the great importance that comes with bearing the Senju name, and living up to the legacy his ancestors left.

Name: Tsukiharu Noriko.
Age: 13.
Height: 5'6.
Village: Konoha.
Rank: Genin.

Nature Affinity: Lightning release.
Goal: To become strong. (To be acknowledged.)
Preferred Weapons: Shuriken, kunai, dartgun. The women of her clan learn the naginata young, which is something Noriko has practiced with before after begging a main family member to teach her. Interested in learning more long-ranged weapons.

Appearance: Noriko is tall, young girl with pale skin. Like most of her clan, she carries their green hair, purple eye markings, and ringed yellow eyes. Her hair is kept long and tied back, mostly kept out of her face by her forehead protector. While in the academy, she wears modest, frilly dresses and shinobi issue sandals.

Personality: Much to the displeasure of her parents, Noriko is loud, honest, and occasionally mean. She says whatever comes to mind without thinking it through, and constantly dismisses her mother's insistence that she be more dainty and ladylike. She has trouble backing down from a challenge.

Strengths: Natural sensor, even with little formal training.
Weaknesses: Hotheaded, wip.

History: The child of a civilian and a branch member of Konoha's Tsukiharu Clan, Noriko is often overlooked, both by her clan and those around her. Though the Tsukiharu's are trackers by nature, as a civilian branch family member Noriko neither gets access to the family's bird summons nor formal training with her dojutsu. Though her parents would much prefer she settle down and meet some nice boy, Noriko insisted on attending the academy like the rest of her family would.

Other: She possesses the traditional dojutsu of her clan, the akasugan, which allows users to see great distances away, at the cost of leaving their body vulnerable to close range attacks. When activated, the ring around the pupils swirls outwards. If the user possesses a akasugan, it is present from birth, although it takes time and practice to activate it at will.

Nickname: The Lone Samurai.
Age: 21.
Family: Land of Iron's Hatake Clan.

Goal: To explore the world.
Personality: Despite being raised to fight, Naoki would much rather wait for a threat to rear it's head before he lifts his sword. He dislikes striking first, much preferring to wait and see what his opponent can do before revealing his own cards. He'll do what he must to survive, but he has a dislike for unnecessary killing and will do his best to spare those he considers innocent. His code is this: I will not break any promises and will always strive to be honorable, even if those around me aren't. He does his best to stay true to his word, even if it comes back to bite him in the butt later.

Backstory/Biography: Hailing from the branch of his clan that had settled in the Land of Iron, Naoki was raised as a Samurai. From a young age, his talents with kenjutsu were fairly evident, to the extent that even the Clan Head acknowledged his near-prodigious talents. In turn, this caused great pressure to be put onto his shoulders, pressure he desperately wanted to escape from. As an adult, Naoki's desire to explore beyond the Land of Iron has led him to leaving his home country and traveling the continent as he pleases. As of now, he's a neutral party: taking missions where he can to get by, but doing his best to stay out of the way of anything big. He has no plans to return at the moment, enjoying his newfound sense of freedom.

Chakra nature: Lightning (affinity), fire.
Speciality: Kenjutsu & tracking. Naoki wields a traditional Hatake katana, passed down to him from his mother.

Name: Ryuu Rinha.
Nickname: The Shifting Shadow.
Age: 17.
Family: Shiroi Rinha, deceased (Mother). Unknown Kirigakure father.

Village: Kirigakure, formerly.
Clan: Rinha Clan.
Clan Info: Specializing in medical ninjutsu, in the past Rinha shinobi were targeted by others who wished to claim their techniques. However, due to this and their kekkei genkai, very few remain now and most are in hiding. They possess a kekkei genkai that allows them to absorb chakra from others and duplicate their appearance and memories.

Goal: To destroy Kirigakure.
Personality: A bitter and disillusioned youth, Ryuu cares little for shinobi society as it is, believing it broken beyond repair. Due to the circumstances of his past, he especially despises Kirigakure, the village that killed his mother over distrust of their kekkei genkai, and tried to kill him. His years of infiltration and spywork have taught him to hide his emotions well, making him a master actor and manipulator. Ryuu rarely fights his battles head on, preferring subtlety and string-pulling behind the scenes over the blatant exchanging of blows.

Backstory/Biography: Born in Kirigakure during the Bloody Mist Era, Ryuu's mother taught him from a young age to never stand out. His father was never around and she barely spoke of him, so for his early years it was just the two of them. Ryuu's mother was his whole world, but soon enough that world came crashing down. Shortly after he graduated from the academy and was assigned a genin team, he accidentally employed the use of his clan's kekkei genkai while on a mission. This caught the eye of his Jounin-sensei, Tetsuya, who was apart of the group who distrusted those with kekkei genkai, who upon returning to the village used his authority to put together a team to kill the Rinha family.

That night, the team descended upon the unsuspecting Rinha house. Ryuu's mother, a formidable kunoichi in her own right, used everything in her power to give Ryuu time to escape, but was eventually cut down. Disillusioned by the village he had thought was his home, Ryuu spent the next few years on the run, honing his natural affinity for genjutsu and employing his clan technique to grow stronger. He completed infiltration and assassination missions, and found tutelage under other missing-nin.

Speciality: Genjutsu & infiltration.

Kazuma Senju: A straight-laced, by the books Genin who is rather unremarkable save for his exceptional chakra control and above-average memory. He and his mother are the last of his clan still in Konoha and because of this, he feels burdened by the legacy of his name. His mother expects him to become an excellent ninja, to live up to their clan's history, but he isn't quite sure what he wants for himself. (Would like serve as a medic on his team.)

Inoki Yamanaka: Sly and mean-spirited. Growing up, his household placed an emphasis on mind games and "underneath the underneath". An excellent code-breaker, but not a great guy: more likely to poke other's weak spots just because he can. Has an affinity for genjutsu. Frequently overshadowed by his elder sister, giving him a bit of an inferiroty complex. (Genjutsu specialist and strategist.)

Noriko Tsukiharu: Loud and overzealous. Gives everything she has her 100%. What she lacks in physical prowess and ninjutsu knowledge, she makes up for with her keen sight and great aim. As the child of a civilian and a branch member of her clan, Noriko is often overlooked -- she's received no training her her clan's dojutsu or ready access to her family's bird summons. Natural sensor-type. (Future sharpshooter and tracker, probably.) Her Kekkei Genkai is the Akatsugan, a telescopic dojutsu which allows her to see great distances away, at the cost of leaving her body exposed.

Naoki Hatake: Born in the Land of Iron to the samurai branch of their family, they were sent to the village to live with their estranged uncles due to rising inter-clan tensions. Laid-back and somewhat melancholic, missing a home and family that they haven’t seen for years. Their speciality is close ranged combat, combining ninjutsu with kenjutsu. Wields a katana. (Ninkenjustu specialist + wolf summoner.)

Kuroi Hazuki: Born under an Eclipse, Kuroi's faced suspicion from his superstitious civilian family ever since he was little. His family believes he's bad luck, something that's only exasperated since he's grown older. He's the first of his family to enter the Academy, although his younger siblings, the twins Tsuno and Itsuki are eager to follow their big brother's footsteps. He's a naive, but ultimately kind-hearted child. Has a naturally low supply of chakra, but shows great promise in the art of sealing. (Fuuinjutsu specialist, eventually will learn kenjutsu.)

Sozan Kamibu: An odd little guy who does academy-work for fun. Enjoys puzzles and working with his hands. Very susceptible to peer pressure, due to a lonely childhood and feeling estranged from his peers. Wants to become a seal-master like his mother. Interested in combining the technique of seals with the logistics of medical ninjutsu. (Fuuinjutsu specialist, medic-nin.)
