Juniper Kyteler, a 6th year Slytherin, arrived to her favourite class, Potions, slightly early. Her red hair was pulled up in a high ponytail. Today they were having class with the Ravenclaws, she preferred them over the other houses only because they often gave her good Potions advice. Juniper was a Slytherin but she was not like most of her classmates, she was not haughty but she was ambitious. She had dreams of becoming a Potions master just like their current Potions professor, Horace Slughorn.

The potions classroom was dark, the walls lined with shelves of glass bottles and containers, filled with different coloured liquids and ingredients. The floor and walls were made of stone and tables were organized in rows throughout the classroom. The scent of the variety of ingredients in the room filled the air with a unique aroma.

The Battle of Hogwarts had been a few years ago and the wounds of the past were beginning to heal. Hogwarts and its students had tried to move on but it was a slow process. Although her parents had not been deatheaters they were well known pure blood supramists and thus Juniper sat at a table by herself. She was shunned by her own house for her lack of loyalty to the pure blood supremacists ways or just because she was a bit more introverted than everyone else. The other houses shunned her due to her parents ideals. Either way it seemed she could not fit in. Meticulously the young witch laid out her potion equipment and tools and then sat down waiting for the rest of the class and the professor to show up.

Jais Murker also sat alone. She was a 6th year student. Her parents were... unorthodox in the Battle for Hogwarts. They didn't pick a side. But they were known to harness the power of both sides. A true mix of black magic and normal magic. No one knows where her parents were. Frankly, she doesn't know either. But when the battle started they protected her. And fought against the Dementors. Which seem to be the only entities they actively hate.

Her black hair was in no way orderly but it still looked good. Her hair extended past her shoulders behind her. Her grey eyes seemed to scan the room. There was a reason she was alone. Her theories and theorems of magic and the magical world were... unorthodox to say the least. And her parent's position in the Battle for Hogwarts didn't help her social standing either. She didn't like Slytherin too much. If anyone was to punch you in the face it would be a Slytherin. She then laid out her potion-making tools on the table. They were neatly organized in a kind of tool pouch. Made of leather. Vials of different sizes, mixers, and other equipment are all sorted.

She then noticed Juniper. A Slytherin sitting alone. Unusual but she wasn't surprised too much. Hogwarts has all kinds of strange people. Her hair then stuck straight up on her arms. She quickly laid it down with her hand. Dont want her transforming right now. That would be a bad idea.

Juniper stared at her table; she was missing something. What had she forgotten…and then it struck her, she had forgotten her mortar and pestle, how could she had been so thick. She groaned and looked around the room. There didn’t seem to be an spares and she certainly didn’t want to ask the Professor for one and get in trouble for forgetting her own.

Glancing around the room, the classroom had filled up and more students were at their tables, taking out their supplies. Everyone had a buddy though until Junipers green eyes came to a Ravenclaw with black hair who was sitting at a table by herself. Taking a deep breath in to calm her nerves that always seemed to affect her before she socialised, she headed over to the Ravenclaw. Once there she said “hello, I’ve been so silly and forgot my mortar and pestle, I was wondering if I could sit with you and share yours?” Juniper was ready for a refusal, but she hoped the Ravenclaw would take pity on her and allow her to move her things over.

Realizing she didn’t even know this girls name, having never been introduced, she quickly added, “my name is Juniper Kyteler and I promise I won’t be a bother, you won’t even notice me next to you.” She tagged on a smile, hoping that if she was friendly the other girl would be too.

Jais paused for a moment. Looking up at Juniper. She formed a somewhat smile and her eyes seemed to sparkle of sorts. She observed the redhead for a moment. Thinking for a moment. Then she said in a friendly tone. "Sure, my name is Jais Murker." She scooted over a bit moving her equipment with her. Jais glanced behind her as Juniper sat down. No one seemed to notice too much. She then bent down to unzip her backpack. Picking up a few books and setting them on the table.

The 1st book read "Potion Basics" the 2nd read "Witch Potioneering" and the last read "Advanced Potions". Each was easily several hundred pages and had hard leather covers. Jais looked at Juniper for a moment then clarified in a friendly tone. "I like to come prepared. Plus it's an interest of mine. If you wanna know how to poison a dragon you go to potions." She then kept setting her equipment up. It seemed slightly more than the standard potion kit.
