Realistic or Modern Perspective (Creative RP)

Suum

Fictitious Fox
This is an interest check for a roleplay idea which I have a solid concept for but would love to get input on further details to flesh it out also.

Plot Summary
A group of convicts and asylum patients from around the world are brought together as part of a scientific study into the innerworkings of the criminal or deranged mind. Each selected for unique identifiers in personal character, these individuals are connected via shared dreaming technology which allows for the scientists to throw these individuals into a constructed reality and record how they interact with the environment and overcome the challenges which they are presented with. As the technology is, in effect, tapping into the consciousness of each individual dreamer and inserting them into the dream world, the psychological state of the individual has a direct and profound impact on their perception of the world and the events around them. It is through monitoring these perspectives and how the individuals react to them that the scientists slowly aim to understand the minds of the individuals and, to some extent, learn how to control individuals such as these for better or for worse. The motive for this is somewhat unclear, but core public theories are for rehabilitation and the prevention of criminal activity, whilst simultaneous theories are abound that the experiment could be taken down a more dangerous path.

Important Concepts

- IC, the psychological state of the individuals in the experiment does not directly change the world itself, but changes the world which they personally see to some extent. This state would not change a church into a bakery for example, but could see one individual perceiving a decrepit building covered in cobwebs whilst another might see it basked in light or fluorescently coloured. The pespective could also, for example, insert a sarcastic tone into speech which was not originally sarcastic, or even completely change the vibe or tone of words in that person's perspective - it would not, however, change the words used beyond minor things such as accent, tone, flow of speech or other elements which could change how the individual might react.
- The worlds which are constructed for the individuals to participate in are, roughly speaking, realistic to allow for acceptance and understanding in the mind of the subject. The worlds may vary in time period slightly or aesthetic setting, but would always have a general foothold in what the common mind can accept as possible and within the constraints of normality.
- Individuals might have unique and very useful skills, which, given this is conducted in a dream reality, will be drastically exaggerated, but there are no superpowers or magical abilities. A highly perspective person may, for example, be able to see almost everything around their person at once given it is an exaggeration of their natural ability within the constraints of a dream, but a pyromaniac is not going to be able to summon or manipulate fire. It's just a difference between a grand exaggeration of traits as dreams may often do.
- Death in the dream results in unknown consequences, but more importatntly, the individuals would not know they are even in a dream and the reasons for them being in the environment would have been implanted by the scientists (for the purpose of roleplaying, however, the roleplayer would be able to explain a reason of their own accord). Noticing things seem strange, especially when transitioning into a different reality, would be permitted, but ultimately this is a controlled experiment so a loose acceptance of the dream as genuine is a must.
- Everyone is fully human and considered a criminal of asylum patient. Whether they have been confined for genuine reasons or misunderstandings is up to the roleplayer to decide, as long as it makes sense in the world that they would have been considered guilty or a danger to society.

Let me know if anyone feels like exploring this! Further areas of detail I'd love to hear from people specifically relate to the possible realities they may be thrown into, or the challenges they might face in those worlds.
