Outside The Walls

Realistic expedition role-play. Non cannon. No titan shifters and such, this is before the walls fell.

A familiar mix of excitement and dread filled Darius as the portcullis of wall Maria rose, revealing the terrifying yet wonderful outside world. Full of possibility and danger, the world outside the walls never ceased to amaze him in its boundlessness. As the squadron advanced out the gates and into the golden sun, shards of broken glass from dilapidated houses sparkling with what seemed like the promise of discovery, Darius couldn't help but forget himself for a moment.

Jane felt the rush of battle, similar to Darius' but not quite. Sure, it was very exciting and dreadful, but there was also the slight feeling of pride in seeing those who she had taught perform in battle from own techniques. She ran out into battle, hands gripping onto the handles of the sword-sabers at her sides. Those were the weapons she would use to behead Titans, and would have no remorse in doing so. The heels of her dark brown boots slammed into the ground at every point of contact with the hard surface, as her short orange hair flew back wildly, tendrils curling around the wind. Jane couldn't help but crack a smile.

Activating her 3D Maneuver Gear, thick black cords flung out and struck the sides of two buildings with strong metallic grapples, sending the small ginger forwards. Jane lurched upwards, flying high into the air, up and over the activities of individuals below her. Her destination was to leave the outermost wall in an expedition. She was informed that some novice cadets were to be joining her, as well as another experienced lieutenant like herself. There would also be some of those of the Scout Regiment. New recruits, older recruits, and another lieutenant. This will be fun. Jane thought as she finally arrived at Wall Maria.

Darius watched Lieutenant DeLacey take to the air using her 3dm gear. She was capable and she knew it, her assurance in her abilities lead her to be bossy, in his opinion. Of course we were assigned together for this expedition, Darius thought with a role of his eyes. Separate, they were both formidable titan slayers, but their ability to gel together as a team left a lot to be desired.

Getting to a crouching position on his horse, Darius shot his cables into a nearby building and with a slight tug, Darius was ripped into the air by the wires. Catching up to DeLacey, he signaled to her to stop and land on a relatively safe rooftop to debrief.

Jane was flying through the air, when the other lieutenant approached her. It was Lieutenant Darius Anthony. She furrowed her ginger eyebrows whilst letting out a deep exhale. Of all high-ranked officers, she had to be paired with him? It was quite unfortunate, but it would be something she just had to deal with. He flew up beside her and motioned for her to land onto a rooftop for debriefing. She nodded. Despite not favoring being told what to do, Jane brought herself down, diving down to the ground.

She landed running, skidding to a halt onto the rooftop below, as her 3D Maneuver Gear cords retracted into the equipment. Jane looked down and spotted a horse, presumably Darius'. She crossed her arms behind her back in an officious matter, fingers intertwined on the small of her spine. Her thin shoulders kept back, her standing up straight. "Hello, Lieutenant Anthony." Jane merely said with a neural voice as the male landed beside her on the rooftop.

Standing up after landing, Darius waited for his lines to retract before addressing Jane. He crossed his arms and addressed her coolly " Lieutenant DeLacey, the captain ordered me to meet up with you and debrief. As I understand, our objective is to capture the nearby town, south of Shinganshina. In order to do this, the captain stressed teamwork and cooperation, something they you and admittedly myself could use some work on. "

Darius held out his hand to DeLacey, as a sign of goodwill we need to bury the hatchet, for now at least.

Jane's eyes followed the other lieutenant as he landed beside her as well. Then he began to speak. He spoke about that they would begin debriefing, and that their mission was to capture a town south of Shinganshina. Darius also went on about how cooperation and teamwork was something him and Jane needed to work on with each other. She nodded in agreement. "Yes, that sounds like a plausible mission. It may be a little difficult because of the new recruits that we are bringing along, so they will need extra guidance." she said, her eyes trained on the male.

Behind Jane's hard green eyes, a spark of excitement could be seen. Despite this, she kept a relatively neutral expression, lips pressed into a hard line. "But yes, I agree with the 'working together part'. We will have to focus on that as well." She said, training her eye to look around to where the other individuals would come up. The two lieutenants were expecting 4 other cadets: two recruits, two of the Scout Regiment. Jane couldn't help but notice Darius' sign off goodwill. She sighed a little, hoping the best for this seek-and-capture mission.

Darius spotted the others below, riding on horseback. He motioned for them to join him and DeLacey on the rooftop. Tapping his foot impatiently he watched as they took to the air, wires sinking into the crumbling facade of the building and launching them onto the roof. After they all had gathered he began to speak "Alright, our mission is to capture a small town south of the Shinganshina district, before nightfall. Meaning, we need to get a move on, daylight is burning. As for you new recruits, Lieutenant DeLacey and I, as well as the other two Regiment members will show you the ropes. If we are unlucky enough to encounter a titan, do not engage it. We will take care of it."

Darius looked on with slight, but respectful admiration as the recruits gave a shaky salute. There were either very stupid, or very brave to have joined the scouts. Darius preferred to give them the benefit of the doubt and think of them as brave.
