Fantasy /Simple] The Gilded Vessel

toontwink

good times™ ahead
[border]Plot[/border]

"Since the most ancient of times, humans have waited patiently on Earth for the golden ark of the Gods to descend upon them."

Last week, from the heavens above, the Gilded Vessel descended upon man for the first time in 12, 000 years. It pierced through the clouds; a heavenly ark with a radiant golden glow. From it's descent, it sank into Labarge Lake; the legendary mouth of the Earth. Fitting the tales of ancient lore, the people of the Kingdom of Sevania began to pay tribute to their mighty Gods, honoured by their unexpected, but much anticipated visit. Offers were made, the Gods were content, and the people were happy.

That was, until people began to mysteriously disappear.

▷ For a long time it went unnoticed, only brought to the attention of the people when nobles began being targeted. People were kidnapped indiscriminately; male, female, old, young, rich and poor. Everyone was a target, and the populace was nervous. The queen, although having to address her subjects, was unsure how to handle such a mystery. The people were growing increasingly scared for their lives and she could only sit on her hands until her guards had some sort of lead. What happened next, however, shed light on the entire predicament. From over the Faircrest Palace, the Gilded Vessel had appeared in it’s radiant golden glow, and in the middle of the night, took the queen’s only son. The people became aware that the disappearances were the work of the Gods, and found small comfort in that fact, although the overarching fear of death was stronger than their faith. The queen, despite the wishes of her Gods, needed her son back. She had no way of speaking to her Gods, and after a few days of her prayers being unanswered, she devised a plan.

▷ From Stonegate Prison, the queen collected a small team of criminals. From the depths of the prison, the guards retrieved a thief, an arsonist, a fraud, an anarchist and a murderer, and brought the prisoners to her feet. The terms were simple: find a way onto the Gilded Vessel, save the sole heir to the throne, and they would be granted freedom from their crimes. She placed enchanted pendants around their necks and sent them off on their mission without any further instruction.

“You will defy the Gods. You will do this for your queen!”

▷ Now our criminals turn to the gilded vessel and begin their journey against the Gods, their freedom hanging in the balance of life and death. Little do they know that things aren't always as they seem.

▶ In the depths of space, war has been waged, spreading to what seems to be every corner of the universe. The OV Andromeda was making a peaceful delivery when her crew's home planet was caught up in the tides of war. Having nowhere left to go, the OV Andromeda descended onto Earth; an unassuming and considered lifeless planet. The OV Andromeda began to experience difficulties entering Earth’s orbit, and with the Internal Computer Operator (ICO) unable to fix their difficulties in time, the crew braced for impact. They crashed into a lake large enough to contain their vessel, but became stranded in the process.

[border]Notable Places[/border]

Faircrest: A prosperous castle town at the foot of Faircrest Palace. Home to nobility, aristocracy and the center of fashion and high society in Sevania. Unlike Silverport, which specializes in international trade, Faircrest deals in internal trade, both among nobility and the general populace. Beyond the waterfront, where the wealthy live, are small houses occupied by servants and other lower class citizens.

Stonewall Prison: A high security prison located off of Faircrest, outside of the city limits to avoid any harm to fall upon the people of Faircrest.

Stonegate: A hardworking mining city that produces most of Sevania’s ore. The city’s mines are populated with plenty of fine materials from the nutrients of the Southern mountains.

Denshaw: A city that excells in trades. Here you can find jewelers, tailors, engineers, blacksmiths and inventors. It is a relatively wealthy city, in close proximety to Silverport and Faircrest.

Linborough Gate: A military city and general stronghold of Sevania. Guards and knights are trained here, and several military families have housing inside it’s strong walls.

Silverport: A large port city responsible for most international trade in Sevania. It is run by a corrupt family who have rendered the people far into debt with it’s large gambling market.

Southwater: A large fishing village dependant on the bay North of them. The waters of the bay are shallow and unable to keep large ships harboured, however, Southwater’s small fishing boats allow them to fish in the waters without any trouble.

The Tower (Also known as Scarwood Academy): An isolated tower for acolytes to study in the holy art of alchemy and enchantment.

Labarge Lake (Also known as the Mouth of the Earth): A great lake depicted as the birthplace of the first Gods. The Gods left the Mouth of the Lake 12,000 years ago in order to find paradise. It was prophesized that the Gods who were born in the lake would return one day to share paradise with mankind.

The Enchanted Forest: An unexplored forest in which those who dare to enter never find their way out. It expands into the neighboring country.
