Note: I don't mind if you code it, but please try not to make it tiny. My eyes and brain with goldfish-level attention span will thank you. (I know character sheets are mainly for oneself, but I still find enjoyment reading them. Yes, I read them.) You don't need to be super detailed and specific if you want to leave some stuff for the roleplay. Oh right, just because the character remembers everything doesn't mean that their bodies and/or location won't keep changing every day and night. You can post your character and then tweak it before anything’s set in stone. And if you have a picture you think works please post it, if not (because you’re like me), that’s fine too.

Self-Image: Milfoil doesn't believe she is a very good person, but she does have a strict code of ethics that she stands by. She’s generally pretty friendly and curious (courtesy of Calendula) but once she dislikes someone, she will not easily change her opinion. Then again, she doesn’t easily think bad of someone because she believes people make mistakes and that most things deserve a second chance. But only one more chance. After that, it’s game over. She will never deliberately make someone miserable even if she hates them, but she does believe in retribution and paying for wrongs. She can be kind of harsh when she is under stress but if she thinks she’s hurt someone during that time she’ll apologize (also courtesy of Calendula) afterwards. She is very stubborn and won’t change things she’s decided for herself even if the world were to go against it. It’s not that she won’t be swayed, it’s that her pride won’t allow her to change it. She has a lot of pride. She doesn’t like deciding things for others, though and prefers to have them say their thoughts first so she can follow along if she agrees or settle on a compromise.

Her philosophy:

  • Everything has a consequence, one must always be ready to receive it

Name: MilfoilName: Calendula Firswatch
Species: Verdant Witch
  • Verdant witches are thought of generally as witches that have plant-related magic, powers or something of the sort. It's not a secret but it's not well known either that they descended from plants. Yep. They're plant-people.
  • A few hundred years ago, some crazy or genius (you tell me) botanical master spliced together a bunch of plants with some human embryos to create the first generation of verdant witches. Their name came from the other species that didn't know what to make of these mostly-green, plant-like people. (Witches are a totally different species altogether.)
  • Their "plant-related powers" were just traits from the plants that mutated and didn't get lost in the splicing-with-human-embryo process.
  • Verdants aren't very fertile so they rarely have any offspring. Even if they do, they only raise them for a few years at most and the relationships between parent and child are pretty shallow.
  • Some young verdant witches do have guardians, though, which are kind of like parents. They teach them their history, world knowledge, their abilities and all that stuff that they can use to live a life. Very rarely do you find a guardian because most verdants just can't be bothered to try to raise a young'un.
  • They're pretty loose with their partners and can break them off anytime, anywhere. They don't have the concept of marriage or family. You birthed her and she came from you and that's all their relationship is.
  • They can live up to hundreds of years by virtue of their creator so being 50 years old is still considered pretty young.
  • Verdant witches can be tiny and can be huge, depending on what plant they descended from. They are sometimes more plant-like and sometimes more human-like, depending on how they (or their parents) were spliced.
Species: Moleskwi
  • The Moleskwi are a group of mole-like people that live mainly underground, in intricate tunnel systems. They are very closed off from the outside world and rarely trade, preferring to live on their own. Although they are withdrawn, they will let travellers in if they have nowhere to stay.
  • Generally, the Moleskwi live with their extended family and don't have many neighbours around them because their tunnels stretch out for very long and there's just no room.
  • When they take a partner, they usually keep them for life. Family is considered one of the most important values in their culture.
  • They usually have varying degrees of bad vision but always have acute hearing and touch.
  • The Moleskwi have lifespans of about 60 so years, late 60s being their upper limit.
  • Their bodies are shorter and necks are stouter than humans but they have much more powerful arms to dig their homes and some even have claws similar to those of moles. They are generally heavier than humans, despite their small stature.
Appearance:
  • Milfoil has pale yellow-green skin. Her veins are plant vascular tissue (those vein-y things that move water and nutrients in plants) so when she blushes (if ever) she would turn a lovely spring green.
  • She has a strong jaw and a wide mouth with thin lips.
  • Her eyes are olive green in colour. She also happens to have dodder vine-like growths around her eyes that bloom tiny, white flowers when her mood gets extreme. (Which is not often.)
  • Her hair is slightly darker than her veins, but not by much. It is medium-long and constantly in a ponytail.
  • Her clothing is often more practical than pretty and can generally be spotted in a crowd by a calf-length forest-green cloak. She often wears boots to hide the fact that her legs are just many, many intertwined vine-like growths. Her palette is lots of brown and green but she does wear a red pendant.
  • She is considered to have average-ish height. 165 cm (about 5'5")
Appearance:
  • Calendula has skin the colour of antique paper and a smattering of dark freckles over her cheeks, all set in a small face.
  • Her mouth is quite small and she has a perky nose.
  • She has short, choppily cut brown hair that looks rough but is actually smooth to the touch.
  • Her eyes are smaller than most species and are completely black in colour. No whites, no iris. She usually squints when she's thinking.
  • She has lots of fine, short brown hairs on her arms and legs.
  • She often sports a white linen dress with a daytime-sky blue apron, Dorothy-style. She is known to wear cotton overalls when she takes care of creatures that want to steal her home.
  • Calendula is considered pretty tall in the Moleskwi population. 154 cm (about 5'1")
Backstory: Milfoil was born in a chrysalis-like cocoon made of plant tissue from one of the original spliced verdant witches. Her mother was descended from a dodder vine blended with wheatgrass and those traits passed onto her, allowing her to both photosynthesize and gain nutrients from plants. Her mother only taught her the most basic necessities for survival, tossing her a tomato pendant before leaving on her third birthday. Normally, a verdant would just try to survive during this time and absorb as much knowledge as they could but she was lucky enough to be taken in by one of her mother's distant acquaintances. That man, Hyssop, became her guardian and taught her most of her knowledge and moral values. They trotted around the globe, seeing many towns and cities along the way but their main place of settlement was Mord'eau Forest. After travelling around for so long and seeing the conditions other species lived in, she gained quite some pride for being a verdant witch. During a time Hyssop was away for some personal business and she was passing her time in Mord'eau, she remembered Calendula. Backstory: Calendula was left in an unused tunnel under the Kokanduja Grasslands soon after she was born. She was picked up by a family with sixteen children, making her the seventeenth child. She grew up receiving much love and affection from her foster family, who sympathized with her for her tragic babyhood. She never did get spoiled though, since there were always chores to do in the household and food to find above ground. There were other underground creatures that fought with them for ground space so she learnt to grapple and fight at a young age. As she grew up, more and more of her siblings left the main branch to get married but nobody ever asked her and so she never did. She ended up just taking care of her parents, who were quite old by the time they had brought her back, without really being able to do what she wanted to do. When they died of old age, she was sad but also thought she could leave to the outside world to explore and try her luck. It just so happened that that day after they left was the day she remembered Milfoil.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Photosynthesis
  • Ability to suck out nutrients with her hands

Weaknesses and Flaws:
  • Dehydration, she needs a lot of water all the time otherwise, she shrivels up and dies.
  • Although photosynthesis is enough to ensure her survival, it is not enough for her daily activities, and if she were to ever stop eating/sucking nutrients out of food, she would be sent into stasis.
  • Sucking nutrients out of anything takes a long time. Especially if it's still alive. It takes about 2-3 hours to suck out all the nutrients from a young (living) tomato plant.
  • Feels the cold much easier than most species and freezes quite fast, with her being mostly water and not generating much heat.
Weaknesses and Flaws:
  • Anything related to vision or bright lights. She has pretty strong myopia and harsh light hurts her eyes, especially when it's sudden.
  • In return for her brutal arm strength, she has weaker legs, especially near her knees.
  • Her body freezes in front of Käarguja (snake-people) and Vezuli-Chymur (weasel-people), because some of them have tried to eat her once.
  • Can't jump as high or dash for very long because of the weight of her body.
Additional Info:
  • Milfoil's mother gifted her a cheap tomato pendant before leaving so she wouldn't fall into stasis too soon.
  • Milfoil's hair colour is a current popular colour in the verdant community.
  • Calendula had secretly wanted to be a pirate but after she melded with Milfoil, she pushed it to the back of her mind.
  • She will sometimes play games that are luck-based (things like gambling, roulette, and dice games) because of Calendula's wishful nature. Although it never really ends well.
  • Calendula was kept in a coma for thirty years by Diianta before being turned into a babe again and getting picked up by her foster family. She still believes she is somehow fifty-four and twenty-four at the same time, without realizing that she lived thirty years asleep.
Actual Facts:
  • Milfoil is the name of a plant related to witchcraft.
  • Calendula flowers are also called pot marigolds.
  • Dodder vines love tomatoes, apparently. It's been scientifically tested.
  • All of the plants I've mentioned in this character sheet are real plants.

Protect the innocent, always, though "the innocent" don't seem to be the same people between Night and Day. Tends toward the uber-macho during the Day, but more serene and quietly confident at Night.


OTHER:

  • Name does not change between Night and Day.
  • Species: Shapeshifter (Timber wolf in the Day, and panther at night. These creatures are bigger than their natural counterparts and therefore tougher and stronger, but otherwise not magical.)
  • Appearance: Generally human, 6'3"
    • Night: Lean and graceful, inky black hair trimmed short, ebony skin so dark you almost can't see her hair, yellow-green eyes slitted like her cat's
    • Day: Broad-shouldered and muscular, red-brown hair streaked through with black and white and generally shaggy but not unkempt, swarthy tan skin, grey eyes
  • Backstory:
    • Night: Born under twinkling stars and kissed by the light of Nykios, her parents knew she was destined for greatness, and that that greatness could not be achieved through them. They chose to give her to a wealthy couple in the city, except the baby never reached her intended destination. Instead, the caravan who's care she had been trusted with for safe transport was attacked by "bandits", who took the child in and raised her as one of their own. When she was older she would learn that her naive, unwitting parents had given her to slavers, and her life would have been much harsher if not for the bandits, who she now knew called themselves the Night Watchers. Recognizing how badly things could have been without them, she dedicated herself to her training. It was soon clear that she was built for speed and agility, and the bow was a favored weapon.
    • Day: Appeared in the home of farmers as a newborn (this was a common enough occurence), who were overjoyed to be blessed by Diianta with a child and raised it with all the love they could give. The child grew big and strong working in the fields, and eventually joined the village guard force. He was welcomed for his strength and endurance, and the great-axe was a favored weapon.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Night: Speedy, agile, graceful, skilled archer
    • Day: Strong, slower but long-lasting, clumsy when not fighting (think bull in a china shop), charismatic, swings his great axe as easily as if it were a hand axe
    • Both: Empathic (much as animals are sensitive to the emotions of others, so too was Danyren)
  • Weaknesses and Flaws:
    • Night: Can be distracted by shiny and/or glittery things (while sometimes a boon in that her attention may be drawn to something she would have otherwise not noticed, there are times when she is distracted from something important), socially awkward and therefore prefers to be the quiet observer at the back of a crowd
    • Day: Likes his mead (and while he will stay sober if on duty, chances are he's either drinking, or recovering from drink when off duty), loud and boastful but has absolutely no idea that he is either and is just being friendly, sometimes he does NOT know his own strength (again, think bull in a china shop)
  • Additional info:
    • Adrenaline junkie- the scarier the activity, the more they want to partake
    • They cannot stand the smell or flavor of raw onions, but there is no such thing as too much garlic
    • There is also no such thing as too much candy, and they are always enjoying some sort of tasty treat, but they don't like sweets of other varieties, like cookies and cake

Self-Image
Breik always thought himself calm and composed, until the memories of night started coming clear. Now, though, he isn't sure- modest and level-headed during the day, upbeat and excitable at night, the knowledge of these two vastly different sides of him has him questioning what real even is anymore

His name changes between night and day- during the day is Breik, the quiet, calm, and composed trapper, at night, Vonsko, the exciteable, always cheery shopkeep. Breik goes by Breik in an attempt to normalize what he's now aware of

Species: During the day, he's but a Human- his only special traits are those that he's learned. At night, he becomes a Dracoling- a humanoid lizard believed to be related to dragons

Appearance: Due to being a normal, average Human, Breik's appearance isn't particularly out there- he's a tall youth, with neck-long, thick brown hair, often wrapped in furs. Vonsko, however, is a mostly green, humanoid lizard that stands at slightly below average height. Numerous sandy yellow patches dot his scales, but the most notable is a swirl on his left cheek. He has no hair, but his lizardlike, slitted blue eyes are distinct in and of themselves

Backstory:
Daylight: Breik's life during the day wasn't much to be noted or envied- he grew up a hunter in a frozen land, and as such adapted quite quickly to the cold. Despite his backstory, he was never any good with a bow- instead taking to laying traps and snares, preferring to try and out-think the beasts he hunted
Night: During the night, Vonsko was born in a small city in a marsh, and he grew up there, learning tricks of trading. When he grew old enough, he set out on a journey to a nearby capital with the intent of opening a bookstore

Skills and Abilities:
During the day, Breik is a skilled hunter, well-practiced in observing tracks, laying traps, and thinking on his feet when he runs across danger. However, he has little to no regular interaction with people, leading to rather awkward interactions- not from lack of trying, but more lack of practice
At night, he takes a drastic change- his talents of the wilderness all but leave him, and he picks up talents more associated to a bookkeeper- small talk, random, trivial knowledge, and an acclimation to a larger city setting. He still has some basic combat skills with a thin blade, but he hasn't had much reason to train. His Dracoling heritage awards him a small collection of abilities- an affinity to semi-aquatic locales and a weak frost breath weapon similar to a dragon's, but vastly weaker. Warm climates are excellent for him due to his cold-blooded nature, unlike Breik
At all times, however, Breik has come to realize there's something more to him- a talent, for almost predicting the future. Random senses of danger, sudden moments of familiarity with scenes before him, only for a moment- and then gone, almost as though they were never there to begin with. While his day persona has accepted them as something akin to a hunter's sixth sense, his night persona believes there may be more, and has taken to researching methods of fortune-telling. No matter who he is, he has an eagerness to learn new things, and is not afraid of asking to be taught

Weaknesses and Flaws
Daylight: Breik doesn't handle overly warm climates or large crowds very well, and his lack of practice with weapons means he has to stay on the defensive against any armed opponents. Unfamiliar terrain- primarily cities- does hamper his ability to be helpful as well, for a time
Night: While his day persona's weaknesses are his night's strengths, the opposite applies. Vonsko is under prepared for anything that can't be found in a nice city or learned from a book. While he has a blade, that's all he has, and lacks training in anything else. Due to his cold-blooded nature, colder environments tend to slow him down, stopping short of putting him in complete hibernation at absolute worst, and dry climates often hamper him
Finally, his predictive abilities aren't overly useful- they only kick in some of the time, and oftentimes the feeling leaves him long before he can deduce what it was alerting him to.

Breik wears two feathers on a leather headband- one red and yellow- as a gift from his parents

Self-Image
Deceptive, dishonest, and cowardly, these would be the words to describe Dyzz; however, the words hero, humble, selfless are reserved for Dylinius while the words, cunning, fun, amazing, and mischievous are reserved for Bazz.

Day Name: Dylinius
Night Name: Bazz

Species: Day-Human, Night-Humanoid with a few odd traits.

Appearance:
Day-During the day Dyzz is fair skinned with bright red hair. His eyes are green. He stands just a tad above average height and is fairly thin although he does have some muscle definition.

Night-His skin becomes light blue and his canines become more pointed. His eyes are yellow and his hair is silver, bordering white. He has several strange markings that glow about his body and last but not least his has a tail. Despite this he still insists on wearing completely human clothes.

Backstory:
Daylight: Depending on who you ask Dyzz could be many things. Most know him as an elite doctor who creates ground breaking medicine and heals the sick. Some call him a wizard because of his dabbling in the elements that should be out of his control. Finally some see him as a troublesome pest who sticks his nose where he doesn't belong. (Lets say he doesn't actually ask for funding of his projects.....). He grew up poor and obviously had very little. You could say this is where his creative streak started. He would often make his own toys, and think up games for his family to play. As he got older he continued to do bigger and even greater things such as creating irrigation system so his parents could farm efficiently. He eventually left and continued to teach himself many things, always experimenting, always learning. After his parents died of a disease that was difficult to fight, if you weren't poor, Dyzz began to research on medicine. This is how he became a vigilante doctor; however, working a normal peasant job won't simply cut it on its own to fund his lifestyle...so he got into thievery. BUT ITS OKAY, BECAUSE HE GIVES IT BACK TO THE PEOPLE....some of it anyway.


Night: Dyzz was born in a cave and raised by animals. However, he quickly new he was quite different from his four legged counterparts. He would often wander off and track other intelligent beings. On this alone he taught himself how to speak and interact with other beings. This was probably due to his intelligience that seemed to still carry over into the night. Unlike his day counterpart, this Dyzz, or Kazz used his intelligence to for self indulgence and entertainment. He started a traveling circus known as the Broken Hearts. This is a cover for his less than legal activities as bandits who commit crimes for the sake of crimes; however, it is merely to test his prowess and ability since the most they do is inconvenience others in creative ways. (Ex. Breaks into your house, but instead of stealing all your valuables they nail your chairs to side of the wall ground. They actually earn their money as part of the troupe. Lol.

Skills and Abilities:
Day-His brain is his biggest weapon. He can make many discoveries and often come to conclusions that would have others completely dumbfounded. He has great medical knowledge and can tend to most things as a doctor. One of the best pick pockets to have ever lived. He can ramble and talk circles around most people. Sometimes he even does this to himself to rationalize things that are clearly wrong. Lastly he is good at running away.

Night: Like his counterpart, he is creative in a different way. Great at sleight of hand and illusions. He is nimble and acrobatic thanks to his life as a performer. Skilled in the art of drama, especially when trying to attain sympathy or something from someone else. Lastly, he is good strategist, often analyzing and thinking many moves ahead of those around him.


Weaknesses and Flaws
Daylight: He is not a great fighter, and would prefer not to get into a brawl. He would rather rely on traps and other items he has either created or procured to defend himself. Lastly he needs things to work with, if there is nothing useful around him, or on him, then he is screwed.


Night: Again he is not really a fighter, but growing up the way he did made him more capable of defending himself than his day counterpart. At night he can be more overconfident and reckless as well.

Talowyn

The Ruler

Gender: Female
Self-Image: Talowyn still follows Alois's code of conduct when it comes to her methods. She is still a kind and compassionate soul, there is no mistaking that, but Talowyn is also highly ambitious and money-oriented. Taking after Illia, she does believe in telling truths - but she knows how to twist it to her favor. She's disarmingly charming when she wants to be, holding a silver tongue that both parts of her posses. Clashing morality between her two aspects often lead to longer deliberation periods - and she begins to go down the path of deliberation using pure logic with the thoughts of which decision has the better benefits. She is highly confident in her abilities and will not hesitate to take charge if the situation calls for it. However, she comes off as cocky and overconfident at times especially when it comes to her field of expertise. Surprisingly enough, Talowyn is loyal to both her cause and those she is close with. Earning such a title is difficult but ultimately worth it. While Talowyn does posses most of Alois's good attributes, she does secretly enjoy subtle manipulation. She just simply doesn't show it.

  • The Tumael species are a subspecies of bird people. Mainly having a humanoid appearance, they only sprout wings and sharp, avian eyes. They are often called "winged humans"
  • Despite being mostly humanoid in nature, Tumael, depending on the type of avian that they take after, do migrate. If not, they make a conscious effort to make their home as warm as possible to combat the winter. They have a natural instinct to also stock up provisions during this season.
  • They typically only have one mate for the rest of their life, often moving together as soon as they have bonded.
  • They have a sharp sense of sight and smell than most species, some even having sharp eyesight despite it being night. This allows them to stay alert during their flights. However, they also have brittle bones so that their wings would be able to lift them up.

Species: La-er
  • Tailed beings of great charm, people are often warned about the La-er. They are as versatile as the world is, rarely having a community that is purely of their own species. They merely care for themselves and often leave their families as soon as they hit their adolescent stage.
  • Born naturals at subtle manipulation, La-er exude an aura that makes them seem trustworthy and likeable. This often makes them invaluable in businesses or anything that requires social interaction.
  • Of course, knowledge of what they are is widespread and people who are aware of their powers are not so easily manipulated. There are some businesses that refuse to partner with any place that would bring a La-er to a meeting in fear of being manipulated. The La-er reputation has mixed views upon the general populace.
  • The La-er, however, is not a common sight. Very vulnerable to sickness during their child state, there is a 90% child mortality rate in their species. It is speculated that this was a curse from way before, passed down from one La-er to the next. Scientifically, the growth of a La-er proves to be deadly to a child as their immune system is not fully functional until their adolescent stage. If they manage to survive, they tend to live very long lives. Currently, there is no known way to help a La-er child.
  • The La-er typically take multiple partners in their lifespan but tends to give each one equal parts of their affection.
  • Their lifespan reaches up to 300 years.
Appearance:
  • Her skin is a natural brown color with some splotches of a lighter color around her stomach. She has a naturally athletic looking build. She has scars from accidents littered across her body but she isn't really too bothered as to hide them.
  • She has dark wavy hair that is around shoulder length. Nevertheless, she wears them in a ponytail so as to avoid it blocking her eyes when she flies.
  • Her eyes are deep, chocolate brown. Often called soft and full of emotion, her eyes seem to glaze over and sharpen when she is in flight or is concentrated on something. Around her neck are specialized aviator goggles for flight.
  • Her wings have the same natural brown color of her skin and darkens as they reach the tips. On the underwing are lighter brown colors that collect in the middle but darkens once more at the tips. Her wingspan reaches over twice her height. It is pointed to help with speed.
  • Her height is 160 cm, average for a Peregrine Falcon Tumael.
  • Her clothing are often simple and often practical. All of them are often skintight to prevent accidents while in flight. Despite this, she often wears a coat to be more formal when in meetings or when she's simply cold. All of them are cut out in the back to allow her wings to slip through without issue.

  • Her skin is deathly pale and free from any blemishes or scars. However, her skin seems to shine in the darkness - giving it an ethereal glow such is the trait of a La-er.
  • Her hair is long and silky and sports a pale blonde color. When she doesn't pin it up in a messy bun, she simply lets it loose. It reaches all the way to her waist.
  • A key trait of the La-er are their kaleidoscope eyes that change every single time you look at their eyes. They're constantly changing - a wide array of colors dancing across their iris. The same can be said for Illia with light colors dotting her eyes.
  • Yet another key trait is her long, black thin tail that is pointed at the end.
  • Her height is around 172 cm
  • She typically clothes herself formally. While she can be found in dresses, she can also be found in suits depending on her mood and who she's meeting with. Casually, most of her clothing are masculine and practical for her movements.
Backstory: Alois was born to two business-oriented people. She was born in the upper-class so she had a rather easy life in front of her. Her parents had allowed her to do whatever she wanted in addition to her studies so she had gotten into the habit of racing. Soon enough, she became a full-fledged athlete and soon managed to create her own group of extreme flyers where they often do stunt performances for the enjoyment of all. Of course, Alois handles most of the business dealings for those who want to hire them as well as their finances. Due to her upbringing, she was a rather good in the business side of things. During one of their tours, while she had been on the practice route, she had suddenly gained memory of Illia.Backstory: Illia did not have a very nice childhood. Setting aside the fact that she, like most La-er children, had been on the verge of death for years, Illia had also been sold to a businessman who wanted to have such a tool beside him. Illia was personally taught by this man - Reiner - for his business. But Illia kept on learning without stop and she started to get ambitious. She worked for him without question and they were a force to be reckoned with. He had made her into a perfect manipulative weapon with enough knowledge about businesses. For those that did not want to meet with a La-er, Reiner handled it. For others, Illia handled it. As the years progressed, Reiner and Illia stood on equal grounds. It was during one all-nighter that she had remembered Alois.

Self-Image:
Mars picture night and day as two parts of him, like the right and left sides of your brain. He sees himself as a complete fusion of the two of them, being curious and trivial, but also socially-well and ambitious.

Species: Wax (known by some as Candleman)

Appearance:
By day, Hermes wears what one would consider quirky, but not too abnormal. He wears a pair of rounded goggles most of the time, which matches his overall scarlet color scheme. Along with that, he wears a dirty brown undershirt, a red jacket, black gloves, and black jeans to match. His hair is somewhat tamed, black and extremely flammable, made of wick and such.

By night, Martel completely flips this outfit. Since his motives mostly include inconspicuousness, much of his bare skin is hidden as to hide his species and identity. His outfit is that of what one would compare to the likes of a court jester, matching with the colors purple and scarlet, even including the three-pronged hat with bells, as well as gloves. Over his face he wears a white mask bearing a smiley face, to play off the facade of a simple happy-go-lucky guy. He keeps his instrument case strapped to his back most of the time.

Backstory:
When the day began, Hermes awoke alone, in an almost empty room. From this moment forward, Hermes would follow in the footsteps of his supposed 'creator', when finding messages written by him. After fully realizing his situation, Hermes began to attempt to follow his orders while living a normal life as well. He went into town, bought some things, then returned to his home. This began to lead to rumors of a strange voodoo man living in the house, though they were very suspicious of other options as well. While this gossip circulated, what was really happening was very apparent to Hermes: he was attempting to master the art of magic. Not the illusion kind, but pure, natural magic. This included elements, magical gear, etc. However, many of his attempts have yet to yield success. The only one he really (ironically) got, was fire-related, though air came a close second.

When the night began, Martel awoke on the ground, naked with his Ken-doll esque physique, in the middle of a forest. From here, he barely learned what was to happen to him, because nature decided to immediately push down on him. This caused him to know basic survival skills and scavenging skills. However, these became the lesser ones when Martel discovered a town one night. The first building he entered was a tavern, where he got strange glances from the other patrons. From this moment on, Martel began to understand other socialization, such as laughter, music, comedy, betrayal and tragedy, all from plays read during the Bleak Moons reading hours.
Eventually, Martel decided that he must have a goal in life, sparking his ambition. Putting together the things he had learned so far, such as acting, music playing, and surviving, he created a plan. Donning his costume, he would travel far and wide, playing for pubs and groups of friends, for them to feel happy about themselves with his fake feelings reflected upon them. And thus began the tale of the Harlequin Fiddler, a traveler who existed purly to make others better. However, throughout his travels, Martel did have to do some...dirty work to acquire food and payment. Nothing too bad, just quite a bit of theft.

Skills and Abilities:
By day, Hermes is very good at the divine arts. Though he may fail at many of them, he has many rituals, spells, and even curses stored in his head from when he read every book in the library he awoke in. He even owns channeling items, which can be used to channel different sorts of magical powers, though he hasn't found anyway of charging them yet. Speaking of items, Hermes is als god with machinery fo the era. Not only was his creator a studious learner, but one of the invention as well. Hermes broke down and rebuilt many of the small trinkets and gadgets the old man had left behind, giving him an analytical view for those sort of things. Though of course, he has a heart. Growing up with notes, as well as having to go into town every now and again, has given Hermes a sens of empathy, as well as morals. Though he may be a bit hard to handle magic, Hermes is surprisingly well equipped for combat. He never understood why he was, but he practiced nonetheless, due to his instructions.

By night, Martel is very good at very few things. First, he is the master of the fiddle and dancing while playing, hence his whole gig. This also goes into him having a good rhythm for most things in life, though he rarely ever finds a use for this ability. Another is his morality, which is constantly in question. One of his quirks is that he rarely talks, and even then, even fewer people even know much about him, much less his real name. This leads to all sorts of conundrums. And finally, his agility. Being a low-level thief has lead to him being quite quick on his feet, in many different situations.

Weaknesses and Flaws:
In both versions, heat. Being made like a candle, and having your hair be so easily flammable can be a big no-no. Small sparks, like from a magical incident or accidental forest fire, can be put out quickly. But large scale, surrounding fires can melt them real quick. This is a reason why both have attempts at hiding who they are, and what they are made of.

By day, its mostly his shy-ness, and his fear of not being enough. Why was he made? By who? How was he made?

By night, its when someone questions his morality. This sets him off big time, in varying degrees of cuckoo.

Backstory: Ciara grew up living with two impoverished merchants, a fact that she purposefully forgets on many occasions. Although her mother and father had strict teachings, she still managed to become a problematic child who snuck out of town every night and went to the local pubs to perform for coins. Due to her species alluring nature, it was easy for Ciara to gather crowds that she sung and danced to and actually earned quite a bit of money for doing so. Eventually, deciding that she would be better off without her parents, she convinced the owner of the pub to let her have a room in the back and made that her permanent residence. It was only one night, in front of a bustling crowd, where her memories with Niahm suddenly began to merge. Backstory: Niahm lived in solitude on the top of a mountain, as most of her kind do. She would silently perform to herself and the animals around, only occasionally stopping to take a trip down to the village. It was there where she would occasionally talk with people. Every now and then, a man would curiously follow Niahm up the mountain and see her dance. Unfortunately, once they laid eyes on her dance it was impossible for them to look away. Because she never seemed to notice these strangers, all would die due to starvation, unless they were lucky enough for her to stop to head down to the village. One night, just as she glanced up to the full moon, Niahm first gained memories of her counterpart.

B a c k s t o r y: Aletheia, although 52 years of age, is quite young for her species. Born into a family of high importance, Theia began her healing ability training at a young age. It was evident from the start that she would become one of their strongest tribe members. At only 15 years old, Aletheia sacrificed her eyesight in order to hone her mutant abilities. This proved fruitful and she was able to excel in her studies and training. As she grew older, she began to question the Shaerus’ society and their beliefs, believing the way lowborns were treated went against their moral upbringings. Though she came from a loving home, Aletheia craved more than a harsh climate and arduous study hours. Thus, she began her descent from her mountainous home into the world. B a c k s t o r y: The Aletheia of the Nykios was also the daughter of a highborn, evident by the unchanging hair and skin markings. However, a great tragedy fell upon her house, orphaning the poor child. The marking upon her hand, a radiating sun, is prophesied to be an omen amongst the Nykios tribe. Because of this, no highborn would home the child. Instead, she grew up in the home of a manic lowborn who wished to overtake their society. This deranged man, a man who has lived for centuries, had harnessed the ability to manipulate their powers, absorbing rather than regenerating, and thus can absorb life. Aletheia, with her highborn abilities, quickly caught on. Although she harbors hatred for highborns and their way of life, she did not wish to fully eradicate their species like her step-father dreamed and eventually took his life with the power he had taught her. Knowing of her crimes, she fled her home.

Arachne (night) is one into more dangerous activities, and Eri (day) prefers to just stay indoors. When interacting with others, Arachne is more influential, shy and feels uncomfortable with strangers at first. Their personalities and moods sometimes clash and one moment she may be timid, but the next thing you know, she acts like you’ve been friends for ages. Araine is pretty law-abiding, but some rules are made to be broken after all. She doesn't easily spill secrets, and sometimes twists and stretches the truth in her favour or how she interprets it. Good for relaying the messages because of her speed and web swinging skillz. Although she doesn’t have very reliable skills, and can’t indicate precisely what, she hears voices and a blurry mass of colour when something's going to happen.

  • Although their eyesight isn’t very good, their sensors (small, nearly invisible hairs on arms and legs) and webs are very good at detecting objects and noise around them.
  • They can live up to thousands of years old.
  • Known to be cannibalistic, females may choose to eat their mate (in spider form) though it’s not necessary.
  • Some parents will house their children until they control their transformations.
  • They start as regular baby spiders with random changes into humanoids after birth. After 2-3 more months, they can usually control their transformations.
  • Latrodus look younger than their age because they age slower compared to most creatures.
Species: Philryn (fil-rin)
  • Philryn were originally created in sets of paper dolls. Only craftsmen with many years of special training and hard work can create Philryn. Though, for every successful Philryn made they have to sacrifice a couple years of their own life.
  • Most of them start off as just regular paper crafts after creation, unless they’re offspring. Although they might start off as regular paper dolls, some are still aware of their surroundings
  • If an impactful event occurs, or the craftsman’s skills and technique very high, they will awaken early on.
  • They can reproduce, but don't often choose to do so.
  • Life spans range from 40-100 yrs of age, but can go up a few hundred depending on materials, quality and conditions. After they awake, their figures grow. They’ll also grow as they age.

Backstory: Back a while ago, Arachne was kicked out onto the roadside with her brothers and sisters at two months old. They were old enough to spin some messy lumps of a web, but hadn’t enough experience to survive on their own. Their only relative was mother, but she had abandoned them earlier on and they had lived off of scavenging for dead food or stealing. Most of them didn’t survive and were eaten or left behind. After living like that for over a year, majority of them went their separate ways. The remaining, including Arachne, stayed behind in their homeland under the wing of an old Erden witch. (One who specializes with rocks and soil.) Backstory: Eri is part of a paper doll collection and the third generation of Philryn, meaning she was offspring of other Philryn. Her family is actually a collection of misplaced or left overdolls, who were sold or not wanted. They have been collected from all over the world, courtesy of their owner, who likes collecting papercraft. But, their owner had a very short lifespan left, therefore desired to travel and half of her siblings awoke after their owner’s death. After their owner died, the dolls took over her the apartment she lived in.

What lips he has are tattered and bloody. Unclean and suffering from contusions of the flesh. He can give off a strange and eerie odor of decay and decomposition, of death and corruption. He has two racks of deer antlers on the crown of his head, both of which shed off particles that people often believe to be ashes. Along with his horns he has deer-like ears and dog-like teeth. His appendages are lengthy, veiny and often described as "twig-like." His fingers are tipped with shiny claws that are normally stained with red blood. And his feet are animalistic, a dew claw on the insides of each ankle, with long toes that mimic animal toes and claws. He can he seen in a tattered, all-black button up shirt with black pants. Shoes aren't necessary for this form, especially since his feet wouldn't fit in them.

Backstory: The son of a prized Asian prostitute, born into one of the darker sides of the town and abandoned after his mother passed away. He was found by a homeless woman and taken under her wing. She was like a new mother to him, one that seemed to love him. She began teaching him knife skills when he turned six, and how to get along with people, and violent behavior. Shortly after bonding with her, he was left behind by the woman when he turned thirteen. This caused him to go into a deep anger and vengeance that lead to a criminal life. He began to steal small things out of spite, knowing the woman was watching in the shadows. But small things lead to bigger things, and bigger things lead to problems. Levi, after turning eighteen, was caught by guards as he went for the big scandal, he had failed miserably as his ego and desire to please this woman got the best of him. He was sent to the jails and spent two months there, mocked and spat upon by the guards as they passed by. Oni's were always seen as outsiders, the people often skeptical of them because of the rumors of most Onis being prostitutes. Levi's anger finally burst, this emotionless and composed person coming out of it. After he was let out of the jails he knew he was a different person, physically, mentally, and emotionally. He had a renewed outlook on life, knowing that thriving and attempting to please a woman you barely knew wouldn't bring back the woman you couldn't save.. Levi became more calculated and proactive in his street skills. As he got older he became a true mercenary, running assassinations, stealing prized jewels, and spying for people. He stayed on top of his feet from the earnings he'd get from doing these jobs.. finally earning peace with who he was and knowing this was the way to live.
Backstory: Born into the shady side of town, Levi was raised by his two parents; both of which showed him true love. And both of which fought to keep him blinded from the dark world around him. As a wendigo he was priced high on the markets, their horns having much value at the time. Levi wanted to experience life on his own as he got older. When the young wendigo turned eighteen he ran away from his home, swearing that he wouldn't return until he felt he had learned enough about the world. Once he left he came to the terrible understanding that wendigos, after leaving their parents, start their gluttonous journeys. Starvation hit like a train and he knew that he had to find a host before this was the end of his life. He wouldn't let this be the end. Levi hunted humans, often drawing them out into the forest with enticing calls, then killing them and eating them. Never satisfied after killing and consuming one person, he was constantly searching for new victims The wendigo spent two months hunting humans, only to hear the calls of a lost soul as he hunted in the jails. He knew he could possess other beings and lead them to become monstrous, as that's often what wendigos did if they couldn't harvest enough bodies for certain months in the year. Levi bonded with this lost soul, filling himself with their desires, longings, loves, hates, and tragedy. Their memories became his memories and his memories became their memories, a bond like no other. Levi left the jails with this new addition, going on to his life with a new perspective. He got into thievery, needing the money to buy food when he found himself unable to hunt for periods of time.

Appearance:
  • Corabelle has a slender, soft build. She's not very athletic, and stands at around 5'3" (160 cm). Her skin is fair, without any marks or blemishes, and her hands have never seen a day of work.
  • Her hair is a slightly red-tinted gold, falling in soft curls and waves down to her waist. She usually keeps it in a half-up half-down kind of style, with intricate braids crowning her head. When she really have to get her hair out of the way, she braids it back in a single, long braid.
  • Her facial features are delicate and symmetrical. Most notable are her sparkling almond shaped eyes, being almost silvery in colour, rimmed with long, dark lashes.
  • Corabelle dresses in simple but fine, velvet or silk gowns, with long, wide sleeves and tight-fitted bodices. She's not very fond of corsets and so she doesn't wear them. She owns a couple of riding gowns in wool or cotton as well. If its cold, she wears wide-hooded cloaks. Her preferred colour of dress is either deep crimson or midnight blue.
Appearance:
  • Maeve has a lithe, athletic hourglass figure, with lean muscles hiding beneath her velvety smooth, bronze coloured skin. She measures to around 5'8" (173 cm) tall. Her hands are calloused, and a few minor scars can be found spread out over her body.
  • Maeve is branded with a tattoo in the form of a black bird found on her left collarbone – it's the symbol of one of the more luxurious brothels located in Hyphonius County.
  • Her hair is jet black, glossy and straight, cut evenly to end right above her shoulders. Her pointed ears are usually showing, adorned with detailed, slender silver chains. She never does anything to her hair, it's always loose.
  • Her facial features are symmetrical, and quite fierce. She, like all other Fae, radiates ethereal beauty, albeit a bit more subtle than most. Maeve's eyes are a feature that stands out in starch contrast to the rest of her face; they're big doe eyes, with the same silvery irises belonging to Corabelle. Her elongated canines are another notable thing about her appearance.
  • Maeve dresses in skintight pants, usually in the colour of black or dark brown. She wears tucked in, long-sleeved, white linen shirts. Shoe-wise she's usually seen clad in dark and soft leather riding boots, almost reaching her knees. Tucked into those boots are a pair of throwing knives, and across her back she wears a pair of elven hunting knives the length of her underarms.
Backstory: Corabelle was born as the second child and only daughter to a moderately wealthy merchant. Her mother passed away birthing her, something she could never quite let go of – she, however illogical, blames herself for her mother's death. Her father took huge pride in his two children though; Corabelle's brother was as handsome as she was pretty, and as intelligent as she was kind. The family lived together in a picturesque townhouse, in a port town bustling with activity and trade. Corabelle was taught all the things a young lady ought to know, such as reading and writing, playing instruments, drawing and singing, geography and history and, even, horseback riding. She used to watch her brother's lessons in swordplay and archery, but those kinds of things never appealed to her. No, she had a different goal in mind – finding true love. Corabelle read a lot, mostly romantic novels, and thus flourished this new desire of being part of a love story of her own. One could almost call it an obsession. Corabelle started sneaking out during the days, when the members and servants of the household was occupied with other business, wearing her hooded cloaks and taking the name Maurelle. She had no intention of marrying for rank or connections, she just wanted to be part of an epic tale of true love. She longed for someone to be her knight in shining armor, to rescue her from whatever dangerous situation she could possibly find herself in. During one of those daily trips, she suddenly remembered Maeve. Backstory: Maeve was born on an island god knows where, and to unknown parents of unknown social class. On the moonlit night she turned seven, slave traders visited the secluded island. Maeve was stolen, whisked away and sold overseas in the county called Hyphonius. Her buyer was no other than the madame of the Nightingale –one of the most exclusive brothels in the area. The doe-eyed girl were to be trained as a courtesan during the years leading up to her eighteenth birthday, her Bidding Night. After that she'd be in serious debt to the Nightingale madame, and work to pay that debt off. Maeve did what was asked of her, mostly out of unexplainable fear, and quickly rose among the unofficial ranks of the courtesans. But, as the years went by, a strong, venomous hatred grew inside of Maeve. She did not want to be used like this, she despised all those engaged in slave trade. She had to break free. So, approximately a year after the night of her bidding, then nineteen-year-old Maeve ran away from the Nightingale. The madame was furious, desperately wanting her precious possession back. Maeve had earned her some good coin during her one year of service, and the madame was not one for losing sources of income like that. Hence, Maeve had to stay hidden, learn how to survive roaming the streets of Hyphonius, despite being branded with the symbol of the Nightingale. Leaving was never an option – she had no money and no place to go. Cutting off her once long hair into the length that it is today, and taking the name Maurelle, Maeve found herself the apprentice of an elven bounty hunter she'd happened to bump into while visiting a tavern looking for food. The elf taught her how to wield knives, how to hone her body into a weapon of destruction. And so she trained, night out and night in, with only one goal in mind – revenge. It was during one of those nights Maeve started remembering her life as Corabelle.

Backstory: Most of Davy’s life was ordinary. He was born to two farmers and often helped them out with chores. When he didn’t have any work, which was usually towards the later part of the day, Davy went to the local stores to meet up with friends. It was there he would gain a love for storytelling, as their wasn’t much to do out in the middle of nowhere. One day, however, Davy Minner witnessed the world shift around him to one he’s never seen before nor existed in. He was scared, and ran around trying to find someone who knew what was happening, but was instead labeled as crazy. It was only after a month of learning about the mysterious new world when he gained suspicious memories of his other self. He has now dedicated himself to solving his own murder.​
