After the new spirit portal was opened, the defeat of Kovira, and the reconstruction of Republic City, Team Avatar traveled through the Earth Kingdom in order to help Wu abolish the monarchy and separate the Earth Kingdom into states. Everything seemed to run smoothly for the next 80 years, but tensions started boiling up in the spirit world.

With 3 portals opened, humans and spirits could travel back and forth between realms. Although this seemed to be a good idea at the time, the typical human instinct to conquer all has lead to the destruction of the spirit world. People began moving into the spirit world permanently. It began with one group, then two, and over the next 80 years the spirit world had been turned into a metropolis. This angered many of the spirits who resided in the spirit world. They want their world back and will stop at nothing to get it back.

Ryo

The pungent smell of rancid coffee beans filled the small coffee shop. What am I even doing here? I hate coffee. Ryo found his way to a small table in the back of the coffee shop and took a seat. He pulled the collar of his trench coat to eye level hoping not to get recognized by anyone. Ryo had arrived to Republic City about 3 years ago with the rest of the Water Tribe warriors. They had pleaded with the president for Republic City's aid in battle, but when they arrived they discovered that Republic City had been having it's own trouble with Spirits. The warriors then did something Ryo disapproved of. Instead of going back home and continue fighting for their people, they stayed in Republic City and began to fight for them. The warriors had started off as companions in war, but as the years progressed they only became army puppets. Ryo was tired of fighting for someone who didn't appreciate their help so he betrayed the warriors and escaped. Ryo had been looking for ways to get back to the Southern Water Tribe, but the coast was guarded by the warriors. There was no way in or out for him. That's why being in this foul smelling coffee shop was so important; this could be his one way ticket out of Republic City

He examined the dim lighted room for any sign of the old man who had agreed to meet him, but this place was crawling with elder men who appeared sketchier than he did. A woman appeared next to Ryo taking him by surprise and placed a cracked coffee stained mug in front of him. She filled the cup with the black liquid everyone in this place seemed so fond of. Ryo nodded a thanks and watched the woman retreat from his table. He stared down at the black coffee sitting in front of him and grimaced at the bitter smell.

"Not a fan ay?" Ryo looked up immediately at the chair in front of his and noticed for the first time an old man in a torn up sailor's suit. The man appeared to not have showered in days and the strong smell of fish made Ryo wish he was back to smelling the bitterness of the coffee. Ryo looked back to the door trying to explain to himself how it was that he missed this man coming in. "That's not important laddie." The man said when he noticed Ryo looking to the door. "What is important is what a young water tribe warrior is doing in this side of town. Shouldn't you be down at the docks fighting for the man?" Ryo's expression grew cold and his eyes narrowed. He grabbed his cup of coffee, took a sip and instantly regretted it. The sour liquid was forced down his throat and a pained expression flashed on Ryo's face. The old man laughed back in his chair and almost suddenly he threw himself over the table and grabbed Ryo by the front of his shirt. "Southern docks. When the moon is highest in the sky. Don't be late." The old back backed away and Ryo looked down to unwrinkle his shirt. When he looked back up the old man was gone as quickly as he had appeared. Ryo looked around the coffee shop for any sign of him, but it was now empty. Ryo stood and dropped a couple of yuans in the table and walked out of the coffee shop. The bright light from outside made him blind for a second while his eyes tried to adjust.

Izumi

"I demand you release me immediately!" A high chirpy voice wailed all around the Southern Water Tribe. "Let go! I want to speak to my lawyer!" Izumi was wrestling against a warrior who had just caught her stowed away in his ship. The warrior was dragging her by ear, back to the healers cabin with the rest of the young girls. "I am a respectable warrior! I will not tolerate this injustice!" The warrior smirked at the young girl clawing at his hand trying to pry it off her ear. He was amused to see her fighting so hard even though she was just a little girl. "Let me GO!" Izumi's words were followed by the warrior letting go of her and giving her a slight push towards the healer's hut. Izumi lost her balance for a moment. Her right leg stepped in front of the left leg and the left leg struggled to stay put on the ground.

Once she was back on her two feet Izumi turned to the man and stuck her tongue out at him. "That is not how you treat a lady! I'll have the chief--" "Izumi!" An elderly woman appeared from the healer's hut. She had snow white hair that was up in a slight bun. A thin braid fell behind her right ear and her blue fur coat covered her from neck to toe. She was carrying a cup of what seemed to be warm coffee. A chill ran down Izumi's spine as she slowly turned to face the woman. "Yes miss Niyok" Izumi looked down at her feet. The woman walked up to Izumi and stared down at her with a disappointed expression. "You are late for your lesson. Warrior Li please escort Izumi to her designated hut." The woman nodded her head in dismissal and turned back to her hut taking a sip of the coffee before disappearing.

Niyok was the Tribe's healer. She was one of the best healers in Tribe. She along with her three sisters had gathered the Tribe's healers and created a school for young girls to train outside of the city. Niyok was a bit old school so instead of having a building for a school she kept the girls training in small huts made of ice. There was three huts; one novice healers, one for intermediate healers, an a small hospital closer to the city where the advanced healers would care for the wounded. Izumi had just been promoted to the hut for the intermediate healers, but she had better plans for her promotion. Earlier that day, Izumi had woken up at the break of dawn and stowed away in a ship that was supposed to send reinforcements to Republic City. She had been planning her reunion with her brother for years, but one way or another she always got caught.

Warrior Li grabbed hold of Izumi's arm to take her to the hut as Niyok had instructed, but Izumi ripped her arm from his grasp. "I can go by myself thank you very much." She gave a small grunt, curled up her hands into fists, and stomped away in direction of the hut. She kept glancing back every few steps for a chance to escape, but Warrior Li kept watch all the way until he saw her disappear until the hut. He may have won this battle, but he hasn't won the war! Izumi walked inside the hut with a frown on her face and plopped down on her seat. She began to plot her next escape as the healing teacher showed the class how to close an open wound.

Opal crouched quietly near the edge of the road, a small fire warming a cup of water. The air was chilly today, so she decided to use the last of her coffee beans to make a hot drink. She was running low on supplies and woukd have to make a stop soon. Hopefully, it would be in Republic City, about a days journey away. She would get there that night, if there were no delays.

She deftly made her drink, and put the fire out by throwing sand on it. She stood, coffee in hand, and began walking again. At her side, her favorite dagger hung, and across her back was her pack, now lighter than ever. Her quiver was there, and her bow was in her other hand. She could just see Republic City in the distance, and her stomach began to rumble. The wanderer scowled, taking a sip of hot coffee to try and quell her hunger.

Kano was making his way down to the southern docks in secret. Despite his mother's warnings of shady fishermen hanging around these parts, it was when he was surrounded by water that he felt right at home(plus, he had finished his shift at his mother's restaurant, and had free time to spare). He quickly made his way to the end of the dock, and-taking a deep breath- jumped into the water. Opening his eyes, he felt his clothes grow heavy as the water began to resisting his weight, pushing him back up, towards the shore. He thrust his legs down, propelling himself towards the surface with a surge of water and froth in his trail. He released the pent up air inside him and floated on the surface, the lapping of water into his ears was calming, and he could hear the ocean beckoning him. Watching the sun approach the horizon and clouds drift across the red curtain, he moaned.

"Why can't I just stay here..." He moaned, and his eyelids shut.

It must have been an odd sight, watching a boy's body floating around aimlessly near the docks.

Jeng groaned as his mother fussed over him, combing his hair and adjusting his clothes. "Mom, stop. I'm gonna be on the road for a while, what good is this gonna do?"

Mia sighed, and brought her hands down. "I just want you to look nice on your trip, that's all." Jeng ruffled his hair back into its messy state, much to the chagrin of his mother. She handed him his bag, and promptly hugged Jeng affectionately. "I'm gonna miss you, honey."

"Yeah, me too," Jeng's sister Jin called as she walked down the stairs. She too hugged Jeng goodbye, then twisted him around in order to give him a noogie. "Send me a postcard or something, alright?" She shouted.

"Agh!" Jeng wailed. "Ok, Ok! I will!" She let go, shaking her head with a smile on her face. "I still can't believe my little brother is the Avatar, and yet you haven't changed a bit." Jeng frowned at her, sticking out his tongue.

As he turned to walk out the door, his mother called to him. "There's coffee and sweet rolls in there, and some water if you get thirsty!"

"Thanks mom!" Jeng replied, and with that he was off to the subway station; his ticket out of the city, and to a new life from then on. He wondered what he would encounter on his travels; foreign, exotic creatures? New friends? A pretty girl? The possibilites were endless, and that was surely a good sign. In Jeng's mind, anyhow.

Jay

Jay's heart beat thudded in his ear as he ran forward across the hard earth of the stadium floor. He leapt over a pillar of earth which sprouted out in front of him, dodging the dirty trick of his opponent as he approached their end of the pitch. He looked up to see his team mate dribbling the ball along the side of the pitch, passing first one then another defender. Reaching the corner he leapt into the air and kicked the ball towards the centre of the box. Jay saw his chance and he launched himself into the air using a pillar of dirt to propel himself. He timed it perfectly and flipped in the air, his foot connecting solidly with the ball and firing it dead centre at the goal. The keeper was ready for the direction but not the force of the shot and the ball struck him in the middle of the chest and kept on going knocking both ball and player into the back of the net.

The crowds roared with appreciation and Jay's teammates circled around him. "And there you go folks Jay “The Cannon” Kannan has secured the game for the Lion Turtles here, scoring not his first, not his second but third goal of the game and with only a few seconds left on the clock the Blue Bison don't look like they have a chance." Jay smiled at his mention over the speaker and readied himself to continue playing. With the score standing at 4-1 a comeback was unlikely and as predicted he game ended swiftly after.

He returned to the changing room in high spirits, his team all congratulating him on his brilliant performance. He smiled gratefully and changed quickly before opening his locker to deposit his kit. He was greeted by the family photo he kept on the inner wall, the sight of his brother killing his mood. It had been almost a year now since they last talked and although he had sent money and parcels back to Omashu he wasn’t sure how much actually made it there. He was suddenly overcome with a deep sadness. He missed his family greatly and decided that he wasn’t going to wait another day in their absence, whether they wanted to see him or not.

Letting out a sigh he refused the invite to the after game party and headed towards the back door, slinging his duffel bag over his shoulder. Upon opening it he was rushed by a dozen or so girls, and worryingly a few guys, who began to beg feverously for an autograph. He ignored them as he made his way to the satomobile that lay in wait for him, slipping into the back seat.

“The Jasmine Dragon?” Khan, his dedicated chauffer asked expectantly. Jay let out an amused grunt before responding.

“Not tonight Khan. The station please, I’m going out of town for a bit, could you arrange for some of my belongings to be sent ahead to Omashu?” He asked, His voice heavy with emotion he didn’t quite fully understand himself.

“Of course sir, there should be a few of your things in the back for the journey, oh and please do send Mrs and Mr Kannan my regards.” He said dutifully, pulling off towards the station leaving the group of fans behind.

“Of course Khan.” Jay smiled, thinking fondly of reuniting with his parents.

“Oh and sir I almost forgot.” Khan spoke up with mock surprise. “Your coffee sir.” He finished, reaching back and passing Jay the steaming cup.

“Thank you Khan.” He smiled, sipping the rich liquid gratefully. He normally despised coffee but Khan had his own recipe which Jay couldn’t resist. In fact it was probably the thing he was going to miss most about Republic City.

Felix was walking the streets of Ba Sing Se getting on last look at it before moving to Republic City. After walking through the streets for a bit he started to get thirsty. That's when he found a coffee shop Felix started walking in to the coffee shop and reached the counter."I would like one cup coffee",Felix ordered grabing his coffee and sitting down to drink it.

Chen Fei was not wearing her usual stiff uniform, heavy with metal plates and wires. Coutersy of the Republic City police. Not tonight. Instead of that, Fei was wearing a tank top and a short pants, a girl wearing similar clothes standing in front of them inside this crumped make shift ring.

The crowds roared and cheered and the light is too bright, and Fei's mind is chanting with the crowd. Fight! Fight! Fight!

"What are you waiting for?" Fei shouted at the her opponent, as she entered her fighting stance. Fei smirked, a taunting one. "C'mon I just want to finish-"

A loud shout cut her sentence, the girl in front of them lifted her leg and swung it to send a blade of fire. Not just once, but several time. A good move, but it's a beginner move. Fei lifted both her hands, creating a wall of stone to stop the first blade.

Fei quickly pull her hand and make a pushing movement, pushing the wall of stone at her opponent, before quickly stomp the earth and make several disc. When her opponent jumped out to evade from the wall of stone, before she could even reach the ground Fei hit the poor girl with several disc right on her stomach.

The girl fell to the ground, grunting and such, but did not have enough power to stood up and fight again.

"And we have our winner!"

Fei raised her hand, waving it to answer the crowd. She put up a fake smile too, as she did not satisfied with tonight's battle. The opponent is too weak.

The wait for the train to arrive was unbearably long, and Jeng found himself trying to entertain himself by counting the amount of times he could call a coin's face right. He scowled at the gold piece, and tucked it back into his pocket, looking around at the multitude of people crowded at the station. Just then, his prayers were answered; "Train 167 is now arriving at Yu Xiang station," the PA system called. Jeng sighed in relief, and got up from the bench, watching the train pull into the platform. He anxiously stepped inside, and quickly took a seat before they were all taken. He popped a sweet roll into his mouth; it was smooth sailing from here on out.

"Good job today, Fei." The owner of the underground ring gave her her share of money. It's funny how the winning reward is her main source of living. The owner smirked. "An easy win tonight, huh?"

"I don't like getting easy money. I'm here for the challenge afterall." Fei grabbed the buck of money, putting them inside her bag. She looked at the clock. "Damn it's this late already..."

"You have something to do?" The owner asked, while counting his share of money. "As a police, I mean."

"Picking up the Avatar, escorting him to his staying place, yes." Fei waved. "See you, old man. I won't be visiting this place for a while. Please make sure to keep the strong opponents for me!"

Fei put on her hat, and ran out of the place. She passed the deserted street, ran though the dark alley, an almost empty cafe... The sound of metal plates clanking in her bag is her only companion. Fei needs to reach the station and wear her uniform, looked ready and prepared before the Avatar arrived.

Lilly awoke to Thorn shaking her bed. She laughed and shoved him. They both quickly began to get ready. They then went to the village to find some work. They took a few odd jobs and started to get to work. They fixed a few things and got their money. They then went to buy their food for the day.

After seemingly endless hours of constant trainhopping, Jeng could now see the famed Republic City approaching. He beamed at the sight; he had finally made it. After some time, the train finally arrived at the city, slowing to a halt as it pulled into the station. Jeng bolted out of his seat and out onto the platform, looking around with whimsy as he took in the sights of the city's buildings and scenery. In the distance, he took note of the large statue of his predecessor Aang in the distance, standing proudly on what Jeng presumed to be Air Temple Island. He nodded in homage to the distant statue, and went back to drinking in the city's bustling activity and aesthetic scenery.

Ryo

Ryo kept his head down as he walked towards an old abandoned shop in which he had taken a residence in. Ryo was considered a betrayer for leaving the warrior, so he tried to keep himself hidden as much as possible. The abandoned shop belonged to a man of large wealth, or so he concluded by the correspondence that was occasionally left in the front of the store.

The shop used to be a jewelry repair and pawn place. It was build in the ghettos of Republic City because the owner wanted to give the opportunity to the lower class to make some money for any old antiques they might have. His idea worked for several months, but seeing as that shop was the only place that was prospering in the ghettos, gang members began breaking in to shop. The man increased the shop's security, but after the third break in he had lost the trust of his customers. The shop plummeted to the ground until the owner stopped showing up.

By the time Ryo found the shop, it had been emptied out by the people in the ghettos. Although the place was trashed, old, and dusty, Ryo grew attached to the place. It had turned from just a place to spend a night to a home. He had fixed up the storage room, found a torn up mattress and made himself a bed. Slowly Ryo began adding things such as a trash can to fight a fire and use for cooking. He also patched up many buckets and used them to carry water in. It was a miserable little place, but it was his miserable little place.

When Ryo arrived to the shop he overheard a group of people mumbling about the arrival of someone. The peoples faces glowed with fascination. "He's here!", "He'll help us make things right!" "Yeah right!" "Bet he's just like the o'ers" "Don't care 'bout us poor people" "Nonsense!" "I've met him before" "He said I was his friend" "You must've been drunk" "I swear!" Ryo shook his head and ducked under the rotting wooden board that was across the door of the shop. He went straight to the storage room and began to pack for his trip to the docks later that night.

Izumi

Still in the healing hut.

Thorn sighed softly. He then looked up and saw a book. He walked over to the stall and read it. It was about Republic City. He bought the book with some extra money they had and took it home. He read some parts of it to Lilly.

"The Avatar!" Chen Fei called, waving her hand in the air. Just seeing her uniform is enough to make people stand away, opening the way for her. The sound of her metal plate clanking should be enough to attract his attention. "The Avatar! Wait up!"

Chen Fei stopped running and stood next to him, saluting him with a smile on her face. "Pleased to meet you! I'm Chen Dei, from the Republic City Police. I am tasked to escort you!"

Jeng was taken slightly aback by the abruptness of Chen's entrance, but he disregarded it nevertheless. "Uh, hello, Officer Chen. I'm Jeng, the Avatar. But you already knew that, I guess." He shrugged. He knew that people would be expecting him, he just had no idea it would be so soon, so he was a little embarrassed since he hadn't had the chance to freshen up. "So, you're escorting me? I didn't know I was such a VIP." He laughed, hefting his bag over his shoulder. "Well, lead the way, I guess."

Opal managed to make it to Republic City within the day, entering the city not far from the train station. She wandered through the streets, looking for a place to get a hot meal for cheap. As she passed the station, her attention was drawn to the crowd gathering outside. There mustve been a celebrity arriving. Snorting, she kept walking, her long legs covering ground quickly. Her progress was hampered however, when she spotted an old man being mugged by a pair of young earth benders. The benders couldnt have been muh older than she was and they were shouting for the man to give up his money. She adjusted her course to head in that direction. “Hey!" She barked, crossing her arms. “Punks! Get lost." The two benders turned to look at her, and prepared to send her flying with their bending. But they had been distracted by mugging the man and let her get too close. The first was disabled without a fight, her hands working with ease to block his chi. She hit one point on the second, when a third man appeared, slashing her arm with a long blade. She let out a cry, turning to face the third. The other two had run off, frightened by the effect on their bending. Withdrawing her dagger and holding it in her left hand, Opal circled with the third, anger in her eyes as blood ran down her arm.

Lilly suggested that they go to Republic City. Thorn agreed and began to pack their backpacks. They soon left their house for their journey.

Kano was walking through the ghetto districts, still soaked. He was eavesdropping on all the buzz when he heard a cry, running down an alleyway, he saw an old man fighting a girl.

Stepping in, he moved his arms forth, removing the water from his clothes and sending it flying at the man's eyes, freezing it over his face as he watched the girl strike.

Opal leapt at the attacker, using her empty hand and the butt of her dagger to paralyze his arms and send him crumpling to the ground. As she leapt, the man was blinded by water and ice, so he didnt even fight back. Huffing softly, Opal looked around for who helped her. Her eyes lighted on a water bender, and she nodded to him gratefully. Turning, she made sure the man who she had come to help was okay. He wasnt injured, and even pressed a few gold coins into her palm as he thanked her and moved on. With a wince, the Fire Nation warrior looked down at the wound. It was long, but not deep. She withdrew a bandage from her pack and began to wrap it. Or at least she tried. It didnt seem possible to bind a wound with one hand.

((whoops made a mistake in previous post, fixed it))

Kano stepped forward to approach the injured woman.

"Let me see that," He said water bending some water out of his bottle and onto his hand.

"You are the Avatar, of course you're a VIP." Fei smiled, she checked her watch before continuing. "Actually, Avatar, we still got plenty of times before lunch with the President. Is there is a place that you want to see or visit?"

"I'm new here," Jeng shrugged. " I can't tell left from right in this city. Do you have any suggestions?" This day was becoming more and more eventful by the minute; lunch with the president of the Untied Republic only made things much more exciting. And consequently, very nerve-wracking.

Opal looked at the water bender cautiously, not entirely sure she should be placing trust in a random stranger. With a small sigh, she resigned herself to it, lifting her arm so the young bender could see it more clearly. With her other hand, she held out a few of the coins the rescued man had given her, just under half of them. “Here. For your help." She explained, hoping he would take them so she would feel better about accepting his help.

"Let's see... What kind of place do you want to visit?" Fei asked. Come to think of it, she never really know anything about the Avatar even thought he is indeed some kind of a celebrity. People are watching them, whispering about them. Fei cleared her throat. "For now let's just get out of this place. There's too many people here."
