HISTORY
The world fell into technological decadence in the year of 2020 when a brilliant group of scientists made a special type of nanotechnology. The turn of the century tech was however deemed to dangerous and was immediately shut down and locked up before its premiere in the year 2025. The nano-tech was rumored to be sold to rich people on the black market from the officers who "siezed" it to begin with.
The nano-tech itself was a small implanted 'chip' which would allow the user of said implant to project nanites through their bodies, meaning they could (in theory) alter their appearance, fix their own health issues, and even armor and weaponize themselves. Criminals decided to start hunting for the nano-tech more and more finding different ways to craft and create knock-offs of their own, and in doing so ended up making an even better upgrade to the original.
This one can not only do everything the original version can but now it can be disconnected and remain under the control of the user simultaneously.
