“… and so it looks like that celery has made sales already. Back to you Tom.”
“And may I say what a lovely job they did with those gardens. Put on your foil hats for this story, because sources say this one might not be just another hoax. Multiple reports have come in that strange pits and sink holes are forming in various places around the globe, so now we’ll be moving on to Tyler who has exclusive information on this story.”
“Thanks Tom, It appears that many locals of various nations, including Russia, China, and multiple countries in south America and the middle east have reported strange happenings that may even be supernatural in origin. Sound farfetched? Well we thought so too, but the interference of governments of these nations seems to suggest something real may indeed be happening, and unlike our shallow well of information on the subject, some sources say these pits may even be bottomless. More on this story as it developes, back to you again Tom…"
Whether you heard this on the radio or saw it on television, yet another potential hoax of the supernatural has come into your generation. Whether you care about this incident or not, whether you want to believe it or disregard it as another crap news story, your life goes on. Where do you begin your journey?
This RP is set in a modern setting with technology equaling current 2018 technology levels as well as the level of access to that technology etc. This RP may develop into more as you interact with the world around you, example: are aliens real? Is the loch ness monster real? Do secret government teams and facilities exist with higher levels of technology currently known? You’ll find out as you go along. You’ll be able to control your character and the world around you as with a normal RP, but anything your character wouldn’t know shouldn’t be in your control, for instance, if you’re a detective for hire investigating some shady unethical science business for a PETA member, don’t have the npc you’re interrogation talk about genetic experimentation or create situations outside of the bounds of what exists today, simply end your post there and let the DM decide what you learn from such investigations etc. this will allow you freedom to play as you want, but also allow mystery to stay intact.
An acceptable example of player control that does not require GM permission or interaction would be the same detective trying to get Intel on a drug dealer to help take down his crime ring. Such a drug dealer npc provided by the player wouldn’t really have any potential for being special in the world lore anyway, so you have full freedom and control to determine how the situation turns out, or what the npc might say or do during your post. However, it is very unlikely that you could dodge a bullet for instance, unless you have some GM approved reason or being able to do so. In other words, have fun, be awesome, but please keep things tasteful. You are free to make whatever type of character you want within these limitations, and with GM permission you may even be allowed to control more than one character. Some players may want to post more often than others, and may have more free time to do so, so although buddying up and being a team is recommended, make sure you discuss your schedule and desired post rate with other players before joining up with them. As far as official rules go, all disputes will be settled by me, and except what has been stated here, or what may be added later if problems arise, there really aren’t any “rules” per say. Just have fun with it.
Format as follows Character Sheet:
Player color and Codes:
Player Name:
Character Name:
Appearance:
Age:
Gender:
Backstory:
Attributes: (rank best to worst from 6-1) Str (), Dex (), Con(), Int (), Wits (), Social ()
Skills: Name up to 6 skills you are proficient in, and give them a point value from 1 to five, your points can add up to no more than 15. This determines what activities, educations, and other things they are good at. (examples: melee combat, medical training, etc. combat specialties should be separated by melee, ranged, and martial arts. These seperations may have some overlap)
Special: you may have one special that fits into the lore if approved by the GM to fit a character concept you may have. Disclaimer, natural superhumans and magic may not exist. The lore of this game begins in present day in a realistic world, with potential for fiction level technological advances (secret to the average person of course). Some of the lore unknown to the players can cause exceptions, however those exceptions would have to be done in different ways. Examples of specials:
Character knows whether or not these holes are a hoax for some reason. Perhaps they are a scientist, government official, or hard heavy hitting reporter. Perfect memory: character never forgets anything and can recall information they’ve come across perfectly Technophile: Character has access to higher level of technology than usually accessible as subject to GM. I.E. Government scientist, special ops soldier etc. Genetic experiment/Cyborg: secret government experimentation may allow you to have superhuman capabilities as approved by the GM. Insomniac: Never needs to sleep, may come with drawbacks. If you can think of it, and it can work with the lore and setting, then it can most likely be allowed, discuss with GM. Not all characters must have a special, but it can be fun to play characters with “special snowflake abilities”
