MS Hellhounds Saga: Children of Mars (Discontinued)

Chaos on the battlefield. Projectiles whizzing past your suit, both from allies and enemies alike. Sev quickly review the information that was sent to him by the ever-helpful Endel. As quirky as he was, Sev had to admit that his reconnaissance was useful. He was exceptionally fond of the smaller machines that he had used to scout the battlefield and assist his allies. That said, he did find the extra hud display a bit intrusive.

Audio warnings began to play within the super soldier's cockpit, heralding the impending retaliation from the enemy, an onslaught of missiles, and kinetic fire. How lovely. His fingers quickly got to work, pressing a few buttons while skillfully manipulating the control stick. The black shrike's movement began to shift and swerve wildly, dodging a majority of the projectile fire when possible while also retaliating numerous barrages of beams from his auxiliary arms once more, simultaneously using them to intercept any enemy missiles while also blasting targets that have already been "painted" by their recon team. Whatever shots that did impact the Black shrike did trivial damage as the custom suit was made to absorb much more punishment than whatever these forces were capable of.

"My turn." With the Captain giving them an all-clear signal to attack, Sev so no more reason to play hide and seek. Turning off the suit's safety limiters, the Blackshrike began expelling an exceptional amount of heat as its reactors were allowed to operate at their normal output, overclocking the thrusters and sending it upwards with a massive shockwave for force. The G-forces from pulling such a maneuver would be more than enough to knock out even the most well-trained pilots. And that is why none will ever expect such a maneuver. Channeling the extra energy into the auxiliary arms, the BlackShire released multiple steady streams of beams in an attempt to destroy more mid-air missiles that were previously targeting his position and allies. Not giving them chance to regroup or reposition, Sev pushed ahead from the skies, releasing the notorious Feather funnels into the forest. With each of them igniting their Melee-ranged plasma blade. They would scour the area for any enemy vehicles and rend them asunder. With them running on his brainwaves alone, Sev didn't need to exert as much physical effort and instead focused on flying forward, navigating himself across hostile airspace. Just as before, his movement was organic and unorthodox, night impossible to predict by computer or human alike.

While the APC's and tanks were being torn to shreds by his funnels, he turned his attention to the enemy installation, quickly recalling his funnels back to him. The big cannon that the captain had made their priority target. He also noted that there was a steady stream of missiles headed toward him, giving him an idea. As he got closer, to one of the massive mobile AA, he would allow one of the missiles from the enemy to get close to him before launching his own stream of missiles, creating a large explosion near his suit, giving them an impression that they had just blown up on the mechs mid-air. However shortly after this, from the thick black smoke emerged the Black Shrike, closing its distance between itself and the artillery piece. At this range, they would have not time to respond. The Blackshrike would descend onto the artillery, effortlessly kicking the large cannon off-balance, sending violently tumbling to the ground. The black mobile suit landed on the ground with a massive shockwave. From there, Sev created an area of death and destruction with his funnels and auxiliary finger cannons doing most of the work, killing off whatever infantry or vehicle that was present within his perimeter. His mobile suit stood still in the middle, unmoving while his weapons did most of the work. It was almost like he was making a statement to his enemy. Telling them they never stood chance, not in a million years.

"Acknowledged," Ico called out in response to Capt. Erika's directive on the AAs as his knight-like unit started to pick up traction moving forward into the warzone towards the wedge formation the two closest Tanks, and one APC wouldn't stand a chance as they were the quickest to fire their primary shots aiming to close line the unit yet upon contact the smoke clouds created from making their mark with the Mobile suit would start twisting and turning as if alive moved forward like a nightmarish torrent storm as they turned red with the Alteisen breaking through the illusion. Ramming into all three units like a stampeding rhino the Alt's hands lowered as he shoveled the two tanks flinging them forwards engaging the one on his left with his triple barrel cannon armament releasing a few key shots to ignite it into an explosion as they crashed into the forests where the infantry had set up shop exploding, and setting quite a few on-foot soldiers ablaze if not pierced by the shrapnel. As Endels info filled into his hub along with Sandra's updated placement info Ico quickly formulated his next tactic at hand.

As the rest of the front wedge tried to back up to re-aim at their now way too close-for-comfort target the barrel on the Altiesen's left arm started to spin with the massive stake attached started to retract back into the arm before he flung it downward releasing a concussion kinetic blast into the very earth, and unfortunate APC angled right at the rest of the front wedge. The immediate ground in front of other MS caved in, and the road ahead broke apart crushing together an easy half of the wedge in a chain of destruction using the units, and the very road they stood on against them. Pulling the Alt's stake out of the ground as the stacked APC fell apart like pieces of a puzzle a unique shell shot out of the barrel of the stake arm. With the front Wedge disheveled, and the road dismantled vehicular movement for the middle lane was now cut off completely allowing his allies to rip the remaining APCs in the front apart like flies.

However, even with the road destroyed it was quite clear the path to the AAs was not removed from Ico's gaze as the legs of the mobile suit moved into a squat as the back units thrusters started to release a burn-off heat before shooting out a quick thrust of energy sending the unit skyward in an impressive jump. Though the projected route of the Mobile Suit quickly proved this was nothing more than an angled massive jump rather than flight as the Alt landed a few feet past the back wedge formations. Rebuilding traction the Altiesen was quite clearly showing off its destructive melee worth as it kept moving forward making it clear to all enemy units that no matter what they thought they could do no one was going to stop it from going to where Ico directed it to.

Around this time Ico watched the firework display coming off his allys' tactics it was indeed an impressive display as everyone worked in surreal tandem to what each other concentrated on ending with Sev bombarding unique tech to wipe out what felt like most of the infantry with plasma cutters. Sandra's hit and run, Endel info filling, Erika's precision read of the enemy's next move, Fulke/Lind's cover fire, Sev's intense firepower, Stef's vulture tactics, and James' precision strikes were all building to an impressive one-sided battle collecting kills much faster than most first mission teams.

"Tsk, tsk they might be with little tech, but they're clearly skilled with what they got," Fulke smirked as he had Desert Punk immediately jumped backward with his chest vulcan's setting off an array of shots into the air negating a volley of incoming missile's as he backtracked a bit before taking a hostile left lining up another shot as his drill piercing bullets dug through imploding five tanks as two missiles snuck past the defense line thankfully still off, but disrupting an aiming sight at one of the AAs.

"Oye Excalibur, Blondie I thought you were supposed to be the perfect defense," Fulke teased Sev, and James as he repositioned again doing a quick view of the enemy before noticing something further in the back further away into the forest area Fulke's grin quickly formed into a frown as something now told him there was likely a second wave coming in.

"Captain I see possible movement further out from our range we might be getting that supposed MS unit inbound," Fulke passed on to Capt. Erika allowing her to handle that as she wished. With the info passed he received an update on the field layout from Endels readings as he started to move forward in his long-range assault. Rescoping the remaining two AA positions he radioed Ico.

"Corp. Caliburn go for the one on the left I have the right on sight. Lind assist in cover fire,"
Fulke motioned taking an aggressive shot mid-movement trusting Lind to keep any tanks aiming at him a beam of a wraith as the AA ramped to aim at both Ico, and Sev exploded from a single singing shot as the Alteisein closed in on the other swinging its stake like an arm blade severing the AA in a brutal crunching slam down.

"Targets handled Captain," Ico quickly reported watching the Shrike lay waste out in the distance.

"If you don't want to clog up the comms, then you shouldn't," Lind began, while multitasking and shooting at the enemies. "You can just say, 'I got information on enemy locations! Sending to you now!' And send it. No fanfare. Less clutter." She wasn't really scathing him, just giving him a bit of lazy-sounding advice. "Or, just wait to see what cap says," Lind murmured after Eirika answered succinctly.

That's right around when the heavy artillery struck near her. With enough force that it shook the area, shattered some trees and exploded the earth. It also rattled Lind a bit in her mech due to the unexpectedness of it, but she remained intact, largely because they didn't exactly know where she was, and had just free-fired in the direction of her shot. "Tch," Lind clicked her tongue. They were better shots than she was hoping for.

Even though the Cap pointed out to take out some enemy units, Lind began repositioning. She didn't want another shot to strike down on her with unlucky precision. As she repositioned, she fired off a couple laser shots to distract and deter any would-be enemies from coming after her as she took her MS farther behind her allies. Once there, she settled down once again, lifting up her rifle and carefully seeking the targets pointed out by the captain.

She aimed forward, then lowered her rifle some, a mild frown creasing her face. That display dropped her confidence and enthusiasm a bit. "With MS piloting like that, are some of us even necessary?" she mused over the comms.

"Huh? Ah, 'kay, man, sure." Lind once more raised her weapon and aimed to where Fulke was. It didn't even take another second before she fired right into a tank, the heat from her laser melting through it and lighting it up. She fired another shot as 'suppressing fire', but let her weapon cool before firing too much.

"Hey hey enemy information isn't as simple as you'd think you know, I was simply debating the priority of information that I should provide since I'm not yet familiar with the combat style or MS unit capabilities of all of you fully yet hence I believe it would be paramount to provide all information yet the processing abilities of most units and pilots are often lackluster." Endel quickly responded to the rather cold quip from the girl as he organized all the analyzed information into tiers and categories depending on its estimated accurate and relevancy, compiling the finished file and sending it to the squad's command unit.

"Aye aye captain I've got all the basics around an also reformatted some of my information to fit Miss Sandra's scouting and also vice versa since you didn't tell me which file formatting option you or your unit can process most efficiently. All location and estimation of AA weaponry models and usage has been complied however the munition type data may not be accurate or missing since many of my scout drones were destroyed before they could return with a localized post-combat atmospheric sample for chemical analysis." Although all in all, it doesn't seem like most of the other squad members needed any of this information, most of them seems content enough to tear through whatever is in front of them without any contingency whatsoever. Endel was a bit confused at this, but maybe it was just how the military was, being all reckless or whatever.

"Haha, you see that Pirouetta? I think we should try that too, it seems quite a romantic move doesn't it." He said to himself as he watched the various maneuvers done by Sev's MS unit. "I mean it'll raise my heart rate by at least 78%, you know I love you when that happens, though speeds like that...hmm, G-forces would be an issue, I wonder if redirecting a fusion cylinder to specifically power a hydraulic kinetic reactionary skeleton attached to the cock pit would fix that? Or perhaps attempting to recreate the theoretical liquidity pilot chambers with a three-layered semi-newtonic fluid protector shell for the cock pit would work too? Too bad all the fluid dried up in recovered units, haha." Endel smiled and seemed almost daydreaming whilst talking to himself, but the operations under his hands haven't stopped for a second as various panels, physical and holographic were being swept over with speed and precision.

"Deploying Prisms, preparing for AA interception for all fronts." He said, somewhat dryly into the communications channels as two more small drones detached from the main frame of Pirouetta and zipped into the fray, they were specifically designed to be destroyed at least, unlike the former scouting bits that he have deployed. "Projectile trajectory calculation...hmph, can't believe they would go after my Starmarkers, I should upgrade them with optical, radar, and EM stealth...hmm, that would make them too big though, perhaps modules systems but compatibility and preparation..." He grumbled while one of the Prism drones dived in front of an AA strike, the incoming attack struck the long construct's front head-on, the top piece bursting open into metallic strips like an old-fashioned bullet casing. The construct vibrated a bit before discarding the frontal segment that was destroyed, and kept on moving around with the remaining pieces and engine module.

Watching as their team put an effective dent into the enemy's reactive wedge formation, James for his part continued to spread clouds of blood and meat across the field. Maintaining his hold on the left flank, sharing in the glory of those at the front would have to wait. From his position, he began measuring out death once more with efficient precision and ease as the line moved up to wrap around the opposing wedge. His 100mm rounds continued to rip through tank after tank, insuring the entire crew was dead and the machinery left behind was inoperable. With competition for the sky being less of an issue, he allowed himself to gain some altitude and veer off to scout ahead of the enemies right side.

Not too soon after his thrusters activated and the sound of a nearby explosion signaled to him that infantry teams on the ground had been rushed in their attempts to initially down him. Taking notice of their expansive presence below him, instead of idling to waste the ammunition on taking them out, James casually weaved the Zero through the flurry of pursuing rocket fire as he continued forward. It was clear that he was being targeted, but despite the flurry of munitions launched at him, the Zero maintained its idle headway without so much as a scratch. Comparable to walking around stationary objects in your path in place of letting them run into you, he calmly answered Fulke's teasing remarks over the communications channel.

"Heh. The best defense is always a great offense. Wouldn't you agree?" Posing the last question toward Sev, he was sure the lieutenant would.

Unlike the fireworks displayed by the rest of his team, James tactics for the most part did not change. Taking a look at the dwindling number of armored vehicles in the enemy formation, he chose his targets from the outer most side. Downing Tanks and APCs with rapid succession, and only pausing to reload or maneuver out of harms way. Focusing more heavily now on the armor, given it was their primary target, he aimed to force the rightmost enemy back, in order to clump up towards the middle where the bulk of Sev and companies assault was taking place.

As the battle continued to rage, two of the three AA tanks were still operational, with both having the radars on active mode, they were able to detect Sev's ruse. Radioing it to the subunit commanders, more than a few had their tanks and infantry carriers back away, as the energy beams from his hands and the funnels seemed to make short work of any infantry and light armored vehicles, the tanks withstood the finger beams with some scorch marks here and there, the armor holding. Thought the efforts of all the rest and him combined, the center of the wedge was broken, leaving the outer prongs intact. Sev's attempt to kick over the SPG was met with the track being knocked off and the unit spinning out enough to snap a running wheel, causing the crew to abandon station as they desperately ran for safety or even hid under the hull of the gun carrier.

However, Sev in his defiance had made himself the target of new arrivals. Arrivals that hugged the ground or barely cleared the trees, mechanical hums and the chopping of air could be heard above the gunfire, better by the infantry that cheered from the slight ridges and forest outcroppings they hid within as two full squadrons of attack helicopters arrived, 24 in all, spread out around the center, they were quick to make attack runs. With a strange layout and design, wings arched low that held a quad anti-tank missile pod, and two large rocket pods and an underslung 30mm cannon, the two men manned flying machines were a bit more of a threat to the MS units as they came in with engines screaming at 320 km/h.

A full 12 brought to bear their rockets, guns and missiles, unleashing half of their ordinance where the stationary MS had made its presence known. "Sev, you are too far in fr-" Moving her gun to look over them and off the one remaining SPG, Erika attempts to reposition as the final flight of 12 choppers split up, two each gunning for James, Stef, and Fulke, dipping into the trees to pop up at the last minute on hopefully where the targets would be.

Elsewhere, the remnants of the armored brigade still had a little over half of its assets functional and was keen to retreat, with the blockade made by Stef the rebel troopers had little choice but to fight or to abandon their AFV's as some already were and fleeing through the woods on foot. The remaining survivors were spreading out, attempting to find a way out, or to hunker down and hold... Holding for what? That was the question on Erika's mind. Leveling her 120mm at the remaining SPG, it got a shot off, arcing in for Sev as well, as she swore under her breath, the two remaining AA tanks tracked in on Endels drones, blasting one out of the sky in seconds as a crosswind of 4 autocannons lit up the sky with tracer fire before shifting their focus to the next...

"Status Report, Sandra."

Nearly instantly a communication was received. "Shhh... I'm about 25 Kilometers out, one of the brigades are headed this way, heavy tank brigade from the looks of it, MLRS systems, haven't seen any sign of any MS support. Heavy Infantry crawlers too, big sons of bitches. You know the Armored Assault Transports, 50 Men in each. I give them maybe fifteen minutes till they are close enough to fight, likely behind the woods... I gotta be silent now, gonna link my visual hud to Endel, tell him to get his ass over here, but not to get shot down. He can get more details before they get close than I can."

Letting that communication play out to the science guy, the request would suddenly be easier said than done as by sheer chance or design an enemy grouping of six rotary aircraft made its presence known, rising from the trees or lurking just within them on the battle's periphery. These had the markings of being drones, without a pilot cockpit and a red visor. A 20mm rotary cannon, a single cell launcher of 6 wire guided missiles and two, what seemed to be energy based offensive guns completed the look, largely stationary or moving in the present, two of them caught sight of the pilot as a bead within the red visor glowed. Turning as one, they unleashed the auto-cannons and sent out a pair of wire-guided missiles to intercept.

Elsewhere Sandra reported in once more, as the MLRS units deployed at the limit of their range, unleashing a large barrage of rockets, likely half of what they carried. "Watch your asses! Incoming!" As this was said, Ico and Fulke took out the last two AA's and Erika the final SPG, thrusting backwards away from the front, the Grey Ghost waiting as her 380mm launchers locked the 2nd and final pair of missiles into place.

"Damn right it is!" Sev didn't seem too surprised by the reinforcements. In fact, he very much expected it, considering the number of casualties the enemies have taken thus far. Upon seeing the fleet of air units around him. Sev quickly recalled his funnels and thrusted straight upwards pushing his g-force resistance training to the limit, knowing full well, that the guns on these machines could not point directly above them. "I got this." While his mech did suffer some hits from the 30mm guns, the damage was mostly cosmetic. The rockets and missiles were swiftly taken down by his auxiliary arms finger cannons, in combination with his funnels which were quickly redeployed to act as additional point defense before dispersing to cause havoc among the air units which were probably not as maneuverable as the unmanned brainwave controlled drones.

Seeing no more reason to stay reserved, Sev began diverting a large portion of the secondary reactor's power into his Imperator, rapidly charging it to maximum capacity. Meanwhile, his auxiliary cannons and funnels would continue firing, blanketing the area of the aircraft with beam projectiles. The black shrike continued to ascend to a higher altitude, making itself a big fat juicy target for the enemy forces.
"Clearing the area." If there were any allied mechs nearby the targetted units, they would immediately receive a warning from Sev's mech about an impending beam artillery strike. Despite not being fully charged, a weapon like was not something to be trifled with. A few seconds later, the Blackshrike would unleash a steady crimson beam from the Imperator. The skilled pilot would drag the pillar of plasma across the battlefield, sweeping up the air units that had been harassing him before. In most cases, one would consider this absolutely overkill, but Sev favors attacking the enemy with overwhelming force.
