Introduction
During the school year, not much goes on in the village that inhabits this large mountainous island. Many of It's slow-paced and easy-going residents often go about their lives with little care for the world beyond their beach. However, last week marked the start of summer break, and the village has been more lively than ever! Everyone is preparing for the Summer Festival, a three-day event meant to celebrate the history of their community's efforts to get rid of the monsters and spirits that once haunted the island. Although this is often regarded as simply superstitious traditions by many of the island's recent generations, there are some who still believe in their founders' valiant deeds. Then again, there are few who know the truth about why some people who cross the Firefly Bridge during the Summer Festival disappear.
Our story begins one day before the Summer Festival begins with a group of children who have so bravely named themselves the "Monster Hunter's Club". Their main goal is to find evidence of spirits and monsters, or even catch one. However, not all of the members believe they exist, and some are wary about going against the village's warnings. Their wariness proves to be for a good reason when they end up in trouble..

  • The Island
Himitsu Island is much larger than the town that inhabits it. It's adorned with mountains at it's back that curls into the east of the village, and covered in the thick green foliage of forests and fields. Separating the mountains from touching where the eye can see are rivers and streams that flow through the borders, fields, and mountains themselves. The rivers and oceans help bring life to both the island and it's people, supplying them fresh water needed to farm and fish needed to eat. The people who live there often refer to it as simply "himi".
    The Village
The village itself is placed mostly to the east, but spreads across the fields and into the forest. The farther west one goes, the more outstretched the land becomes between each home due to farming. If one heads south, they will easily find the beach and docks. Few people choose live too close to the beach because of storms, but there are some who choose to do so anyways. The center of the village is what people refer to as "town" because it's where most of the stores, homes, and school is placed. There's also a bus that runs only twice a day to help people get to parts of the island from the small airport stationed in the west.
    North Mountain
The north mountain is the largest mountain on Himi Island. Most of the trails made through here are there to help people from getting lost in the forest when they venture there. However, they only follow to a certain point up the mountain, and people have been known to get lost there for days. If one dares venture deeper beyond the trails they may just find shrines and homes that the mountain has long since reclaimed. Although it isn't written in the town's history, some believe the ruins are whats left from when their ancestors claimed the island.

    The Firefly Bridge
There are a lot of bridges here, but none have as much cultural significance as the firefly bridge. It's aptly named for the large amount of fireflies that linger over the river at dusk. It leads farther into the forest of the largest mountain, and is said to be the place that the villager's ancestors defeated the last of the monsters. However, crossing the firefly bridge during the Summer Festival is a something of a taboo among the village.

    The Club House
The club house is a small shack of a building nestled in the forest close to the village. It was put together by the last generation of kids, and was claimed by the club last summer.

Feel free to ask questions if you have them.

Oooooooh a summer festival themed roleplay~
That works well for spirits

Age range is very interesting as well! It'll prove for some great writing.

And was that a pun? :3

Thanks for the tag Wert! Excited to get this rolling. Now to cancel real world obligations and get working on a character...

It was.
Yeah, I rarely write as a kid so I thought it would be different.

Woo!

I'll have a character template and threads up by some time tomorrow.

Hi, considering the spirit character tab in the character sheet link, will players be able to play monster/spirit characters as well as the human kids? It looks interesting overall, and very cute!

Thank you! It's currently up for discussion, but I haven't had anyone object to the idea yet so it looks like they will be playable characters for the most part. They won't be coming up in the roleplay until after certain events in the Summer Festival, though.
Hi I’d love to be apart of this :)
Awesome, we still have character slots open for the kids.
