The major part of her childhood upbringing is very obscure and hidden by the layers and layers of other individuals with the same upbringing the lower class has on the young and poor. Her memories are blurred and cut up like frames on a film reel. She isn't certain what is or isn't fact but she does know that she was tossed around from place to place; supposed "guardians" and "friends" of her family. Under the constant constraints of a corporate agenda and societal mindset she hadn't developed like a normal child would. Her behavior came across as selfish and ungrateful alot of the time, her statements packed with logic and not emotion. However there was a deeper meaning to the way she handled issues. She handled them with logic because she cared. Rather that be to a friend or employer/co-worker.
She was the type of girl who had to grow up fast, her parents had eventually disappeared around the age of 10 and she was forced to adapt to the situation. Couch hopping from place to place until she had no real concept of where she was. She lost many friends because of this but gained an invaluable relationship that's carried her this far. She was friends with one of the country's main espionage agent's. He was one of the best with above average marksman skills, no family to speak of, a very intellectual mind and many years of experience in the business. He was like one of the spies you'd see straight out of a classic movie. He had the looks, the accent; he was even a killing encyclopedia. She remembered naming off items she thought to be completely impossible to kill someone with and he would have an answer for her, always on the tip of his tongue; as if he had been waiting for her to ask every time.
During the times he wasn't gone he would teach her about the martial arts involved, some physics which made for some very spectacular shows. She had once seen him pick up a small glass with the handle of his umbrella, somehow flip it into the air, touch it with the tip at the top and watched as it landed flawlessly on the back of his hand. The things he knew and had displayed were enough to make anyone go "how is that even possible?" She learned about espionage tactics, how to talk to people efficiently creating the illusion that she knew how to be a normal human being and talk like one. He taught her how to shoot over the years until she got as good as he was. He even taught her a few tricks of the trade for disguises and black market swindling. Because a lot of what needed to be done in foreign countries her friend would frequently need weapons that couldn't be traced back to anyone or anything incase he got captured.
During the times he wasn't there she would spend hours upon hours exercising her brain with math problems, teaching herself psychology with online courses, doing drugs and getting chummy with the black market individuals who helped her friend out. During this time she developed a serious addiction to an underground drug called "synth" it was a knockoff of modern day crystal meth and caused her to have an unprecedented rush of brain activity and energy. One time while her friend was away she got into a relationship with a very violent and abusive man who used her and took advantage of her vulnerability. This went on for quite some time until her friend, "Archie" is what he fancied, came home and didn't take too kindly to the abusive man living in his house and in the next couple of days the guy seemed to disappear from Monika's life. Archie took care of her through her withdrawals and patched up the wounds her ex had given her. Once she was clean Archie took on a more of a father role to her. Teaching her about morals, ethics, self respect and the likes. It was through this time that Monika truly began to blossom.
She cut the drugs cold turkey and never touched them again, she became very serious about her education and career and used the skills Archie had taught her to forge an identity for herself. "Tank" tank was the nickname she had got when she joined her first company which was focused on marketing. She forged her experience, degrees, and any information that would give her an edge on the competition on her resume. She was given the nickname "Tank" short for "Think Tank". She was extremely quick on picking up small details and in academic tests she scored an IQ of 160 frequently and reliably. She enjoyed the name "Tank"; it was so unlike someone that looked like her and acted like she did to be known by the name of Tank. After a few years of the business game she got used to the odd curious stares when she mentioned the name and even had people shake their heads and protest to it; but any doubt was soon snuffed out by the time her first week in the business was up. Every company she had ever worked for gave her the highest recommendations and contact list. They're forged to look exactly like the real deal, infact they were exactly the same just not licensed. All of her expensive items and weapons were exact duplicates of the authentic version, even the most experienced in the fields wouldn't be able to tell the difference once the fake serial number and logo was put onto the clone. She is also a bit of a fashion fanatic so she's read a lot of the magazines, watched a lot of the shows, documentaries, and even trained herself to do exactly as the models did. From her posture to the vibe she gives off she is the spitting image of a successful model, much like Steele. All equipment she has is inherited from one of Archie's loyal black market contacts and friends who passed away recently.
