Fantasy Masters of Fusion!

Weather: Slightly chilly
Time: 7:45 AM
Date: 01/01
Area: College of Arcadia

Opening Post

Arcadia denotes itself the "college of fusion," hosting a variety of classes meant to hone the abilities of its students in order to survive the surge. Although it denotes itself the college of fusion, it also offers classes detailing the anatomy of monsters, science behind powers and the art of combat. Today, is the start of the colleges fifth semester since its conception. The walls of the school still smell brand new and hope is high in the air. The opening ceremony was the day prior, it merely included a simple speech meant to inspire the students to achieve more. A lot has been learned about fusion since it was first conceived, but there is still a lot that remains unknown. The college is hoping that by raising bright new minds, they will divulge these grand mysteries.

Several students were required to take a class that was not apart of the schools structured advancement tree. When the councilors were questioned they simply stated, "It is an advanced class required to students that have showed great promise." On the students schedules, the building appears as "???" and the room number appears as "000." Of course, neither of these locations exist, the students were instead given special instructions to reach their destination. There was a stairway that was hidden behind a locked door that only their IDs would unlock. Should they make it to the end of the stairwell, they would fine a large hallway with an array of locked doors. Afterwards, they were instructed to wait in that hallway until the allotted time. The class would start at 9AM sharp, and every student that was late or did not arrive at all would have the class dropped. The class was labeled, "Fusion Lab 101." The invited individuals included people like Loys, Tia Saikuron and Minuet Avrera.

There was still plenty of time for the students to wander and explore. The college of Arcadia was certainly as lively as ever. At the courtyard, two young male students had stood on opposite ends of each other. On the left was a shorter student with sandy blond hair and black eyes, on the opposite end was the taller of the two, with jet black hair and green eyes. There was a small crowd that began to circle the students and the hostility in the air was palpable. "I didn't think they'd allowed garbage from behind the wall." The taller student said to the other spitefully. The crowd had a mixed response, from jeers to cheers. The two students looked like they were having a fun conversation, until the blond haired man brought up his place of birth. Then things had quickly turned sour.

The shorter man, seemed to turn his head away at his words, his fist curled up in to a ball. "I doubt someone as remedial as you could even read the entrance requirements to know that," he retorted in a soft and shaking voice. The taller one took several steps forward, now he only stood several inches away. A fight would break out soon if something was not done.

Tia continued to run, but the more she did so, the more the gale winds pushing her along dampened. Howls and roars of approaching beasts grew louder. She had never had an issue before, why was this happening now?
As she approached another patch of the forest, the walls of the city became visible, the lace around her neck snapping, dropping a red ring. She needed it, but she didn't know why, she couldn't even bring herself to question why she had held onto it for all this time. She couldn't stop now though, it wouldn't be long before... Suddenly a beast from the shadows emerged, leaping upon her, her hands attempting to push the menacing, drool soaked jaws away. But her abysmal strength failed her, slowly it's snarling visage grew closer, until finally...

Tia awoke in a sweat, it was all in her mind but it was a grim reminded. Preparing herself, she began to change, but couldn't help but stare at the small scratch on her arm. True, the monster was lucky to even get close enough, but it was clear that they were becoming far more eager, it wouldn't be long before they became desperate enough to scale the walls in mass.
And now those fools at the academy get so uptight about a small mark on a scout that she needs to come to some sort of class? Tia let out an extended sigh. She thought she was done with all of that crap, honestly, what more could they teach her? "An advanced class for students who showed promise." She attempted to recall the words in her mind, her eyes rolling. "pssh, what a joke."

Her flat was especially basic, built for academy employees who clearly didn't belong in this district. Opening the window, a notorious chilled breeze rubbed itself along her cheek, and down her neck, whistling all the while. Staring up toward the morning sun, Tia concluded the it was still early. She would have just gone to lie down again, but generally that meant missing whatever important event she had on. A small scowl formed on her face as she threw her hooded jacked on. She may as well go for a stroll around the pretentious district. As she looked around however, the wind carried only voices of stupid people having even more stupid disputes. She thought for a short second that perhaps a few stray beasts in this part of the city might help them to realize the only thing they should be concerning themselves with.

As Tia approached the academy, she noted even more conflict. It seemed some things never changed here. As she came to the towering crowd, it seemed clear there would be no way for her to see what was going on... Only because there was so many of them, it had nothing to do with the fact that a five foot post could completely block her vision, I don't know what you're insinuating. Leaping upon a nearby wall, Tia lent against a support, procuring a large shiny red apple from her jacket. "Breakfast and a show." She thought to herself. Perhaps this time something interesting would happen, rather than the usual three seconds of slapping before someone intervenes or backs away.

Minuet Avrera

Minuet had awoken early that morning, at around 6am. She had no roommates luckily, so no one noticed the dark scowl etched on her face as she rose from her bed. It wasn't a nightmare, but neither was it a pleasant dream. As she washed her face in silence, fractured pieces of her dream came back to her, despite not fully remembering the entire tale. A dagger. A beast. A human. Perhaps it would be best to just forget about it all.

It would be a lie to say she wasn't nervous, though she felt ready for the strange class that was first on her scheldule. Her mind was perceptive and on alert, though doubt clouded her vision as she stared at her scheldule. She remembered the elaborate instructions she was given to reach her destination, and all she could ponder, was why. Why did it seem so mysterious? Was it all a trap? It wouldn't be wise to build up such tension this early in the morning, so a peaceful stroll outside was what she opted to do.

The air felt crisp against her skin, though she wore Winter accessories just to be safe. Her ruby-coloured scarf cuddled her neck, the decorative trimmings flowing freely around her shoulders, eventually leading to a pair of matching gloves, with small snowflakes around the base of the fingers. One might think she's overdressed for the weather, but Minuet didn't want to risk catching another cold.

Along one of the more barren paths of the academy, she noticed a few bright coloured birds singing away, chirping a morning tune. Sitting down a few meters away, by a tree, she watched the warm scene whilst eating her breakfast, tossing crumbs of bread whenever she could. As she stood back up, she noticed the collection of expectant birds staring at her in curiousity. Just as she waved goodbye, sudden shouting caused the group of birds to disperse into the sky.

There was a small sense of sadness, as she watched the birds fly, but it was a lovely sight nonetheless.

Walking over to the crowd of loud individuals, she watched in surprise at the sudden fight lashing out. Immediately, she felt the desire to stop the scene, as they were clearly injuring each other, but couldn't bring herself to stop them. There was too big of a crowd, too much cheering and too much positivity for a scene like this. If she even tried, she would just be hurt and hated. Instead of actively stepping into the violent battle, she resolved to help as much as she could after the scene was over.

Loys fought a exasperated sigh at the scene before him. A large crowd was gathered, excited murmurs filling the air with the initial image of happiness and joy. Upon listening closer, though, the hint of malice had become obvious and Loys had found himself investigating almost against his will. As he had moved closer, he had noticed two particularly obnoxious looking idiots standing face to face in a position that couldn't be mistaken for anything but testosterone filled aggression.

It was like highschool all over again.

And the day had started off so well too. Loys had awoken early - a rare occurrence - and had blissfully consumed more than a large cat's body weight of coffee. He had dressed at his leisure, comfortable in the knowledge he had plenty of time to spare, and had even managed to find time to read a chapter from his book, a riveting tale of war and romance and heartbreak.

Unsurprisingly, it was arriving at this cursed school that had begun the unraveling of his day. He had kicked his toe no less than three times since arrival, had found himself (against his will) in the middle of a debate of morals between two freckled, gap toothed young women who honestly looked too young to be attending college, and had somehow been caught up in a protest against using fusions in battle.

He knew he was being unfair on the place. It wasn't a bad establishment, it was actually quite tidy and aesthetically pleasing. It just wasn't...him. At least, he reminded himself, it wasn't him yet. He would fit in...eventually.

This was what he wanted to do. Hell, he had already been invited to some secret 'gifted students' club.

He was drawn out of his thoughts by the taller of the two men moving closer to the smaller and another wave of murmurs from the crowd.

Of course, he reminded himself halfheartedly, he didn't have to get involved. He very much didn't want to get involved. The audience would hate him; it was practically social suicide. But fighting was dangerous and the two young men would very likely be injured, something he would not let happen on his watch. The sigh he had worked to hard to keep back broke through with a vengeance, and he broke into action.

He pushed himself through the crowd, elbowing and shoving at every turn, until he reached the epicenter of the the turmoil. He moved forward briskly, but with a slight cautious hesitation. It was his first day, after all, and he needed to stay in the 'good books' of the teachers. It couldn't look like he was being anything more violent than a peace keeper.

"Alright," he said, careful not to let too much of his annoyance into his voice for fear of provoking the would-be-fighters, "lets calm down for a moment. It's the first day, for goodness sakes, do you want to get expelled?"

Opening Post 2

The crowd had too much adrenaline coursing through their veins to be quelled easily. When the intruder prodded his way through the crowd, he was met with a plethora of razor sharp stares. The taller man took his eyes off of the shorter and instead focused them on to the intruder. The smaller of the two seemed to thank the intruder silently before attempting to escape the crowd. His attempt failed however, when he was pushed backward on to the floor-- the culprit presumably was one of the bullies adversaries. With his index finger he gave a firm push backwards to the intruder, taunting him. "Let me guess, another rat from district three? I felt your ribs when I poked you, a scraggly looking rat like you could only crawl out from there," he sneered. He retracted his arm and allowed electricity to spark freely from it, causing erratic flashes of light to be dispersed around himself. "Back away rat, when something does not involve you, learn to stay out," he threatened.

Squabbles like this have become common place inside of the college and outside. The overpopulation of the city has caused a lot of unrest and have made many irrational. The number of mouths to feed has gone up substantially, but the resources available has not increased enough to match that crowd. The price of necessities like food and shelters scale with the increasing population. Even the rich civilians in the first district are starting to feel the uneasiness stemming from the flowering population. The blame has unfortunately been misplaced on the migrants rather than the beasts that likely forced them to live in Alturas.

A timid looking girl with the same colored hair as the smaller man in the altercation stood next to Minuet. She looked around frantically, seeing that everyone's attention was too invested in the fight before them to even notice her panicking. The girl took hold of Minuets sleeve, attempting to catch the women's attention. "Miss, do you see a teacher? I can't find one anywhere, my brother may get hurt and I can't see one from here," she inquired, her head still scanning for something. The commotion had started too abruptly for anyone with authority to pick up on all of the disorder yet. If it escalated further too quickly it may become too difficult to bring back order without violence.

Time until class

"Pfft, what a fool." Tia thought to herself as she watched the lanky man try to interrupt the two of them. Why not just let it take it's course? Did he really think these idiots would be smart enough to listen to him if they were dumb enough to start something in the middle of the courtyard?
As their words carried to her ears through the wind however, her grip on the half eaten apple tightened; Juices began to flow from where the bruising tips of her fingers punctured the hard skin of the fruit. On the outside nothing about her seemed to change, a developing scowl hidden under her oversized hood, but on the inside...

Picking on someone from the exterior districts was one thing. Did he really think anyone had a choice to be there? How many people there grow sick and die because those living in the upper districts horde the supplies? It seemed the more she heard from these pretentious pricks the more she felt it necessary to knock some sense into them.

Then he dared to flaunt his powers as a threat? Tia would have put gold on the chance of this guy standing up to a real foe. Likely then all he would show was the need for a new pair of pants.
It made her question how with this immediate danger right outside of their walls people could bicker so pathetically. If they had seen what she had... But they hadn't.

Still. They may provide some entertainment before she left, and watching them push around some bleeding heart was no worry to her. If that mouth continued to run, however, some cranial correcting may be in order.

Noticing another attempt to resolve the situation, she could only sigh as she watched the inevitable occur to him. He only made things worse. Still, at the very least, he tried. She gave him acknowledgement for that, especially since she couldn't.

Watching cautiously, the tension causing her to be as alert as possible, Minuet's eyes widened as he flaunted his power. If he even attempted to harm anyone with that dangerous power of his, she would restrain him there and then, no matter the risk. Afterall, their powers were only meant for use against monsters.

Suddenly, a tug on her sleeve caught her attention. Looking towards the smaller girl, she tried to give a small reassuring smile, whilst also scanning the perimeter for formal adults. She was slightly dissappointed at herself for not thinking of such an obvious solution sooner. "Umm..." Her voice was drowned beneath the mere excitement of the crowd, until she suddenly shouted. "There!" Her eyes had caught a tall male adult, wearing an iconic teacher's badge, rounding the corner, oblivious to all the drama somehow.

As she turned her head to smile at the polite blond-haired woman, she noticed an array of eyes staring back at her. Realizing they knew what she was going to do, Minuet bolted for the teacher. Hands of all sizes attempted to restrain her from her advance, but they couldn't stop her voice.

A feminine, but somehow still masculine and powerful, voice rung through the ears of those closest her. "Sir!"

"Woah," Loys grunted as he was prodded firmly by the black haired fool (a fitting substitute for a lack of a name), and he took a few surprised steps backwards. Yes, surprised. Somehow - and he cursed his previous stupidity- he hadn't expected violence, especially not towards himself, the peacemaker. It was quickly becoming evident that this would not end without it, though, not without intervention of an authority.

An authority. Why, he mentally scolded, hadn't he thought of that? Why must he be so easily blinded to alternatives?

Well, he reminded himself as he despatrely searched for something positive, at least the attention had been taken from the blonde- no, nevermind. The kid was on the floor, a large brutish form standing above him, smugly smiling as if they had done something admirable. There were more, of course there were more. Even amidst the ever growing panic, Loys fought to keep a blind rage from overtaking him.

He was, somehow, successful in this fight, likely due to the sudden distraction of the black haired fool sneering something - likely an insult - that Loys couldn't make out and-

oh my god. He was using powers. This was...this was way beyond Loys, he was out of his depth. Way out. Perhaps, he realized, he had been from the moment he intervened.

After a few lightning fast seconds of indecision, Loys decided that the safest course for all involved (including his dignity) would be to simply bide for time, and hope that someone had the morals, common sense and bravery to do what he had not: call for a teacher.

He licked his lips nervously. Biding time- that meant talking. Joy. Raising
his hands in the universal sign of surrender, he stuttered a semi coherent (though not largely intelligent) response to the taunts. "Uh, look, this is the first day. I don't want any trouble. Just, uh," he cleared his throat, "just put away the...lightning and we can talk. Or else we'll all get in trouble, even you."

Smashed it, he thought with glum sarcasm.
