Director Fury stood at the Academy gates with Pepper, the young administrator and student liaison, the golden Avengers emblem upon it glistening in the sun. He looked up at the clock tower behind him, letting out a sigh and shook his head. There was still late comers but thankfully some of the students had arrived on time, making him feel at least some of the effort he and the faculty had put into setting up this school hadn't gone to waste.

Avengers Academy was certainly the best place for young heroes to get their start with top notch facilities like Pym's Lab or the Robo Dojo, another use their resident genius, Hank Pym, had found for some of his many robots. Even the All Father himself Odin had brought parts of Asgard itself here to help teach the students, including the Bifrost which would allow students to go anywhere in the Nine Realms and stocking the Timeless Archives with knowledge from all across the universe. Director Fury had even built a S.H.I.E.L.D HQ here for the students to use and train themselves in. Still he did have an ulterior motive for bringing the headquarters here, mainly to keep in an eye on some of the more troublesome students as well some of the teachers, mainly Madame Hydra.

His brow furrowed at the thought of her, but he hoped she wouldn't be a problem as long as they kept their goals aligned. Still he would triple check all his data soon, making sure that she or any of the students wouldn't get the hands on it. At least she was here with him, rather than putting her "talents" to use in one of the more "unsavoury" schools such as A.I.M Academy or the Hydra School. That was one of the reasons he had built this school, to stop some of the more troubled teenagers from going down the wrong path by coming here while they still had a chance, that is if they could make it here by the bell.

Pepper heard a bit of commotion behind her and turned to see Ares menacing a few of the S.H.I.E.L.D recruits who were on exercise, as they too were being taught here. It was nice that even among all the superpowers and magic that there were still honest people wanting to make a difference. Of course they didn't deserve what Ares was putting them through but he was like this with everyone even the Director who was looking back at the clock.

Another minute had gone by, and he growled. He was already starting to lose his patience with some of the students and it hadn't even been five minutes.

Wade scarfed down a second slice of pizza as he sat in the passenger seat of the Oldsmobile that belonged to Blind Al. He grinned as the car jumped the curb, narrowly avoiding taking out patio furniture in front of a restaurant. "Did we hit something?" Al asked, hunched low in the driver's seat.

"Nah, you're good. It was just a speed bump." Wade said, suppressing a laugh. He turned to the window. "Oh hello there. I know what you're thinking: Why am I letting Al drive when she's blinder than a fourteen year old with a computer with no porn blocker? Well two reasons. First, I sadly lack the proper credentials to own and operate a motor vehicle so transport is limited. The second and far more entertaining reason being that maybe this time, Al will finally hit an entire family of four and get tossed into jail." Wade explained as Al smashed through a cart of fruit. "Okay, just pull up here." He pointed out. It ended up being pointless as Al smashed into a tiny red Corvette parked outside the academy gates. "Oh yeah. Five point parking." He said as he exited the car. Al perked her head up, her hair barely peeking over the dashboard. "Wade, I hit sumthin'?" Wade stifled a laugh. "It's just somebody's Corvette. Barely a scratch." He looked at the totaled rear end and picked up the bent in license plate. "Looks like it belongs to a gal named Lola. Well, we don't need to give insurance. Not like your old ass has any outside of LIFE." Wade said under his breath. He pulled a beat up duffle bag from the backseat and slung it over shoulder before sticking his head into the passenger window.

"Thanks for the ride, Al. Now you drive careful. If you died.....I probably won't care." Wade grinned before turning around, pushing his rear through the window and blasting a fart into the car. "Hashtag Where's the beef?" He quipped as he strode up to the academy. He looked around and spotted the petite form of Pepper Potts and the bald head of Nick Fury. He threw up a hand in greeting. "HOLA, SAMUEL L. JACKSON!" He yelled out, strolling over to the pair.

Rictor

This had been the longest bus ride of Julio's life and he'd spent the majority of it keeping himself from getting off at a random stop in between the Mexican border and New York. Suffering from cabin fever and just a tiny bit sleep deprived he stared out the window with another strong feeling of running away. After all, he could just not get off at his stop. He could stay on and see how far the bus would go-- as if they'd let him keep riding without another ticket. He huffed, getting his things ready as they circumnavigated the morning traffic.

The bus finally docked in a busy terminal, a friendly voice telling them to get the hell off. Taking a look at his phone he saw he was late anyway. It wouldn't be a far stretch to go from late to absent and then just never show up! At least Julio thought so as he got off the greyhound bus in the unfamiliar city. From the crumpled up map Cable had hastily drawn for him, he wasn't far from the academy but found each step in it's direction more and more difficult to take. Even when he was finally staring up at the golden emblem on the gates he stopped with lead feeling feet. Julio held his raggedy backpack tightly, cradling everything he owned in his arms. This was it. Now or never.

And yet he held off the moment as long as he could just standing at the gates letting other late comers rush past him in their haste to get inside.

At the edge of the solar system a small hole opened up from Hyperspace and seconds latter on earth the breach would be detected. Such a small hole could rarely bring something worth tracking, nothing larger than a human could have gotten through and that was a cause for alarm. On earth by now Nick fury would have gotten the message as the one that caused this rift to form sped through the system as speeds undreamed of yet with no ship to violate the known laws of reality. There few in the universe with such power and as the being passed Saturn only seconds after entering the solar system the scans had revealed that they detected the power cosmic. This was bad and all races in the universe would know it for that power was used by few beings namely the heralds of Galactus the devourer of worlds.

Nova the current herald flew through the system already burned her way through the asteroid belt and on her way past had sent no word of her coming and that would normally mean only one thing. She was going to bring forth her master and bring him back to earth. That was at least the first answer that any being that knew of the heralds and their master would assume as rarely would Galactus let then wander unless they were seeking out new worlds for him to consume.

It would be only 5 more seconds before she was plunging through the atmosphere down towards the earth burning like a meteor even as she slowed as to not crash through the world. The herald's aim was true as she aimed not for any population center but rather for the hidden institution of learning set up by Shield. In less than a minute she had entered the solar system and already she came down to her goal bearing an announcement.

Nova burning with golden fire flew down over the school as she might a world she sought to claim for her master. She waited a few moments before she knew she had the attention of those below namely Nick Fury who she suspected would need brown pants from this, using a little of the power cosmic she cast her voice out so all around and that saw her might hear her words.

" HUMANS OF EARTH KNOW THAT DOOM HAS COME FOR.." She said before everyone that heard her would get the faintest impression of laughter and she started to descend from the sky tot he ground " FOR MY .... MASTER.." She continued before the connection broke and she landed a few feat away from the director and nova was chuckling to much to go on " Wait wait give me a sec I got it" She said "No no i don't yet i'm joking" she said to an unasked question as in truth Earth was off the menu forever.

"HOLA, SAMUEL L. JACKSON!"
The Directors brow furrowed at the sound of the incoming student. "Your late Wilson!"
He looked at Pepper who was pulling out a folder, with all the necessary information the new students would need for the first day at Avengers Academy. Lesson plans, faculty members, school rules were all enclosed inside the folder. "Study this carefully Wilson and then get to your dorm...." A tiny vein throbbed in Nick Fury's forehead as he watched the delusional delinquent pull his finger out of his ear, check it, then proceeded to suck it. "..... Or I'll make your first lesson training with Ares other there!"
Ares looked over at the hearing of his name before going back to sharpening his axe, the poor S.H.I.E.L.D recruits under his tutelage taking a few steps back.

" HUMANS OF EARTH KNOW THAT DOOM HAS COME FOR.." The daunting director looked up his hand instinctively going for his holster, before shielding his eyes from the bright form descended before them. " FOR MY .... MASTER.." The director then recognised who it was, the current herald of Galactus and one of the new students Nova who was chuckling away" Wait wait give me a sec I got it" She said "No no i don't yet i'm joking"
He closed his eyes for a quick second and took a deep breath, hoping to cool his frustration. He motioned for Pepper to hand the fiery freshman a folder too as he took another deep breath. If anymore more of these practical jokers showed up he might have to go vent his frustration in the Blasting Range before long.

Nova started laughing again as she took the folder. " Man already have a file ready for me, and here i thought this was a surprise" She said not having told anyone her more or less spur of the moment choice to come here and actually mix with people again, well people that didn't want her dead. it really had been something she had been thinking over after the Silver Surfer had shown her earth in the past and she had realized she would have shown Galactus it without hesitation. She didn't really regret what she did feeding her master planets with life, but it was a sobering moment showing how she had become rather callous.

" Wait did SS tell you i might be coming, he can be super meddlesome in things and he is never around when i actually want something" She said referring to how the Silver Surfer tended to show up when she didn't want him to or when she needed him, but never when she wanted him. " Or was it my master that told you ?" she asked secretly hoping it would be him it meant he did pay attention to her more than when she located a planet.

She then noticed the guy that was apparently giving Fury a hard time before she was, a kindred soul in annoying the director it seemed. " Yo " She said turning and waving to him.

((did someone said "practical joker"?!

oh yeah, just for anyone who wasn't here before, I'm doing the X-Men movies version of Quicksilver but his name is Pietro instead of Peter for less confusion between Quill and Parker of the same first name))

When Pietro woke up that morning and climbed out of the warmth of his own bed for the last time in a while, he knew he was already late. That's how he had planned it. That didn't stop his mother from yelling down at him though. "PIETRO ARE YOU UP?! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FIVE MINUTES AGO!"

"DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT MOM," he yelled back up the stairs, yawning and stretching his arms. Time to get ready using the Quicksilver method! It took him less than a minute to get all ready, dressed and packed, and that was just because he had to wait for the water to brush his teeth. He ran up the stairs with his duffel bag and grabbed a bagel, an apple and a Monster, and kissed his mom on the cheek.

She turned to him, frowning. "Be safe, okay honey? Don't get into any fights. And don't take people's things!!" She urged even though she knew it was hopeless.

"Mommmm, you worry too much."

"You're going to a school full of other untrained kids with superpowers, why wouldn't I worry? Did you make your bed?"

Pietro's form vanished in front of her for only a split second - blink and you'd miss it - and then he grinned at her. "Yep. Bye, mom." He gave her a hug and started towards the door.

"Make good choices!"

Pietro laughed as he ran out and away from his mother's house. That would certainly depend on your definition of "good". He was pretty sure he knew where this school place was, he thought as he ran and ate his breakfast.

Ah yes, there it was - The Avengers Academy, the gleaming gates towering ahead, their reflection of the sun so bright...wow...like really bright...that's...oh, that's not the gates, that's something falling from the sky. Ooh. First day and there's already stuff happening!

"HUMANS OF EARTH KNOW THAT DOOM HAS COME FOR..." the blazing figure who had apparently fallen from the sky doubled over laughing before she could finish her threat. That was quite the joke...

Pietro sped up to Nick Fury, the man in charge. "Salutations, Principal Fury," he greeted, giving an exaggerated bow, hoping to catch the eyes of the few students here. He stood up and handed Fury his wallet, shrugging. "At least it's not the end of the world!" he joked.

Bucky stood around the entrance, but only because it was mandatory. The teachers, or most of them, seemed to be lingering around the quad or elsewhere. Director Fury and his assistant were at the front handing out folders and welcoming the cast of… characters showing up. Characters indeed, he thought, shielding his blue eyes from what seemed to him to be a star brought alive.

A little unsettling. He frowned and took his relaxed stance up again, shrugging it off. The world was filled with a lot he didn’t understand these days, simple things, to cultural references to… aliens, apparently. It had been a long time for him… he spent so long locked in the shadows, watching and only interacting to fulfill… end, things. His mission, no, the Winter Soldier’s missions.

He scowled at the turn of thought, watching as someone with speed even great than Steve’s appeared. Maybe it was good he was here for ‘initiation’ day. He could see, somewhat, what people were capable of.

The school hadn’t opened until today, but Bucky had been here with Steve for awhile. Mostly, he assumed, because Fury didn’t know where else to put the ex-assassin besides jail. Steve, Bucky knew, was the only reason he wasn’t locked up somewhere.

Steve who he’d run from, when he regained the sudden surge of memories of being the Winter Soldier, and he'd left when he knew Steve wouldn't be able to stop him.

He should have known Steve wouldn't simply let it be. Would he really do so different if the positions were reversed? Bucky wouldn't. But then again, his own grasp on who he was... or who he had been, was so shaky and flawed he was hardly the best judge on the matter. Part of him hadn’t been able to face Steve with the sudden knowledge, and so he’d panicked and ran. Things were… alright, he hoped. Bucky wanted to remember things, act like things were still like they were, back when things were still normal.

But that was a long time ago, for both of them. Bucky raised his metal arm, hidden beneath his jacket and glove and slowly clenched it into a fist. Maybe it was too different, between them two. Too different a world, and far too different experiences they shared now. Steve hadn't changed, really, he was still that same punk doing whatever he thought was right with no remorse, with no regard to himself. Bucky could hardly figure out what he had been, much less what he was now.

He looked on the students arriving, reminding himself to be less negative about it all. Perhaps Steve and he could go back to some resemblance of themselves. To how they'd been... when Bucky's hands were not so stained, his sins sunk through to his bones, unremovable, uncountable.

Hell, he didn't even have the same hands, and wasn't that the truth. James Barnes was probably never going to come back from what the Winter Soldier had done, and he still didn’t know how to face the one person he respected most in the world anymore and pretend everything was the same.

Not when he didn't even have answers for him, when he was hardly more than a ghost of the man Steve remembered so fondly, and not when he wasn't worthy of the friendship they'd had anymore.

He still couldn't shake the sheer, awful horror as he'd looked down at the swollen face of Steve and recognized him... of the guy who never backed out of a fight. The stupid punk who wanted to run into every fight, who wouldn't back down even against the odds of an entire nation of evil, of Hydra, of Nazi's, or Red Skull... certain death or alley way bullies couldn't break that will of his. But Bucky had done that. He'd made Steve, his friend, his brother... back down from a fight. That stupid punk... who'd just sat there and taken a beating from Bucky until he pulled him to the surface.

The miserable dwelling he’d given into was halted, suddenly, at the appearance of her. Natalia. Or… at least that’s what he thought her name was. He didn’t know why she was here, he didn’t even really know who she was. She’d been here before today, and when he first ran into her, at a breakfast they’d put together… he didn’t recognize her. He’d noticed her, like you would any pretty dame… but he didn’t know her. He didn’t… he didn’t think he’d recognized her anyways. It wasn’t until later, when he had a run in with a bunch of thugs from Hydra, when he’d fought half of them and then realized he was becoming more like the Winter Soldier again that he really saw her.

She’d come swooping in, to finish the fight. For him? He did not know. But her name had slipped from his lips so easily, so familiarly, and yet she was entirely foreign to him. But she’d called him Winter, shown up with the Hydra thugs… what else could he have thought except that she was one of them? That she was here to take him back, that she must have been some previous handlers, that they’d found him, that they wanted their soldier back. With the moves and ruthless way she’d killed those thugs.

Bucky had jumped to conclusions, pinned her down and threatened her. But… he should have ended her. Something hesitated him, maybe his conscious. Maybe something else. Maybe it was the way that as he continued to hesitate, to feel like he shouldn’t be doing that… that she said his name.

"You're nothing more than an ungrateful idiot, James. One that breaks his promises!"

She’d called and he’d been taken aback. No one called him James, really. His mother... Rebecca or the twins sometimes but he'd grown a shine to Bucky after he and Steve became fast friends. Also why not Winter Soldier, if she were one of them?

But... his sudden hesitation was from more than simply his name... it was the way she said it. It seemed so familiar. The angry look, covering something else up, some vulnerability, that seemed to sink into his chest, too.

Like it was personal, even if he had nothing to go off of. That feeling from before returned, like he was forgetting something, and he almost decided it had been to do with her. Did he know her in another capacity during his time as the Winter Soldier? He still didn’t know what it had been. She’d thrown him off, in a show of skill, and had run off without a word. He’d called after her, asked how he knew her… and he hadn’t seen her much since.

Once or twice around, and he found himself looking for her… but she dodged or avoided him every time. He looked around at everyone and he wondered if she’d be able to slip off now… was it something he should do?

Yes, he thought, he wanted to know how he knew her. She must know, if he called her by his name. If she spoke so familiarly with him. Jessy753 Jessy753

Sam sighed in exasperation. "Oh come on! Are you really gonna play me like that? After everything I've done for you, the way I've taken care of you all these years?"
The little convertible just groaned as its engine sputtered out. Sam sighed again, slamming the hood down in frustration. "I guess a pep-talk wouldn't do you much good either, would it?" When he received no response, he headed back inside his house to wash up. The fact that he would be late to his first day at Avengers' Academy wasn't thrilling, but his little convertible wouldn't be charmed or beaten, so he was out of immediate options.

Five minutes later, his Uber driver pulled up and he crawled into the little back seat with his duffle bag. "Thanks for bailing me out, man." Sam said, returning the man's grin. "No problem-o compadre. You're heading to Avengers Academy, right?" "Yeah, that's right. How soon can you get me there?" The Uber driver just laughed, throwing the car into gear. "Oh, I'd say five minutes or less."
A slightly nauseating car ride later, and Sam was stumbling up to the gates after a quick good-bye to the driver. He pulled his bag's strap over his head and walked over to the greeting committee. There was a bit of a crowd, which was reassuring. Not only did it mean that he wasn't the only late one, but it also gave him a moment to make sure his breakfast didn't make an unwelcome re-appearance. He straightened his jacket and waited patiently for his turn.
"Director Fury." He said, nodding politely.

Steve pulled up into the Academy's front parking lot on his motorcycle and found a place to park. He let out a heavy breath as he stepped off with his bag. He generally prided himself on being where he needed to be on time, but he'd needed to run out for some supplies that morning and hadn't timed himself well at all. It was a little embarrassing. The last time he'd planned this poorly, he'd been maybe 14, practically just a little kid. But he'd leaned harder on Bucky at that time, and now he was supposed to be an organized leader, not some scatterbrained straggler. He needed to step up his game.

The situation didn't improve as he approached the front gates. Put bluntly, it was a bit of a zoo. He'd arrived around the same time as many of the students who'd be expected not to organize themselves, and, shock of all shocks, they weren't very organized. Oh boy.

Nonetheless, Steve approached, keeping an eye out for familiar faces. A fellow in red and black, a guy too jumpy for his own good, a lady who'd just come down from the air and- Bucky!

Bucky was on the outskirts of the group and Steve was tempted to run to him. Before he could, though, he realized that Bucky seemed busy with someone else. Maybe better not to interrupt. Let him be on his own. He'd probably spot Steve and come over if he wanted to anyway. It's not like Steve was hard to spot in a crowd.

Farther in the center of the crowd, though, Steve spotted Sam, standing there alone. Now how did Sam end up being late? Military must have been slacking on discipline seventy years later. Steve snorted at the idea.

"Hey, Sam, sleep late?" he teased as he approached his friend. Maybe it wasn't fair, but it was as good an opener as any.

"Director Fury, Miss Potts," he said as he came closer. Not too close, though; he gave just enough room so, in the case of someone less aware coming along, everyone had a good amount of space.

The Director merely gave Nova a sour look stating "I am the director of the worlds leading intelligence gathering agency Ms Raye. I have eyes and ears everywhere." He paused "Literally everywhere"

Pepper meanwhile had been thumbing through her tablet trying to find their files on Nova but hadn't been able to find anything. Suddenly her tablet pinged and a new dossier came up for Frankie Raye, with all her information, classes and the like. Pepper wondered if she missed it before or had the Director somehow just uploaded it.

She looked up, hiding her mild confusion as more students began funnelling in, the kleptomaniac Quicksilver fanaticalferret fanaticalferret and the surprisingly late but at least respecting Sam Wilson A.K.A Falcon Shadow Shadow who was met by one of the star students Steve Rogers Hammy Hammy . She handed each one a file in turn and motioned for them to go to the quad.

Hopefully Steve could maintain some order with these new recruits while Pepper and the Director greeted the newcomers.

Natasha had arrived her earlier than anyone else. They had brought her here in hopes she would calm down and behave properly. It wasn't a punishment, Fury's voice still echoed. He had explained it would just be easier to move her here until they were sure that she was herself. Besides she needed to learn and adapt to the Western lifestyle. It wasn't a big of a problem for Natasha though. She was used to it even though a few things still looked odd to her. After all the KGB used to have her travel all over the world to interact or kill whoever they wanted. So, his excuse simply sounded lame. But of course she understood that he didn't want her to walk around freely. She had killed people. Lots of them. Yet the redhead had hoped to be able to finally move more freely. But she felt like she had simply changed the Red Room Program to Fury's new Academy.

It was only until a recent breakfast, she realized how little different it was. She had met the one man, she had hoped not to meet ever again. Why was he here? Was he sent to kill her? At least he didn't seem to recognize her anymore. He looked over to her but he had shown no sign of recognition. But then again he was a good enough spy to simply fake it. Yet was he good enough to fool her? Probably not. Natasha had watched him ever since from afar. To make sure he wouldn't communicate with his handlers. He seemed not to be bothered by anything or at best confused with the smallest things. That confused her in return.

It got even stranger when he was attacked by Hydra thugs. At first he had taken them off one by one. But suddenly he stopped moving and the thugs had continued to attack. What had that guy been doing? She simply had sprinted in to help taking one down by one. She hadn't lacked any of her finesse and efficiency of her alter ego. It hadn't taken her longer than a sheer moment to take them down. Natasha scratched the bandage on her lower arm where one of their knives had cut through her skin absentmindedly. She had been correct about it beforehand. She had regretted stepping in. Ever since she had revealed herself to him, he was on her heels trying to talk or at least watch her.

"I sense a little uncalled for sarcasm, Natalia..." he had told her afterwards. So he did remember her and that scared her even more. They left memories of them two and still he was here to kill her or bring her back to Russia. A cold shiver ran down her spine and she hoped she wouldn't meet him today. The only thing that kept her suspicion somewhat at bay was the fact that he had corrected her about his name "My name's Bucky" Natasha tried to shake the feeling off and she walked over to both Fury and the fellow redhead. So she was able to leave before the assassin would be able to approach her.

"Fury.", she spoke politely waiting for Pepper to hand her that file so she could leave again. Her gaze went over the crowd of youngsters: Captain America, his recent sidekick Falcon, a guy in a red suit, some kind of enflamed alien, a speedster, a Mexican and...and the guy she had hoped not to meet. James Barnes.

Nova smiled at the comment of having eyes everywhere, and she had the perfect comeback and she just couldn't stop herself as this place became crowded and she needed to head to these classes. " Then your eyes will know the price paid to give me some free time" She said.

Nova didn't actually wait for him to respond as it seemed Fury was going to be swamped by every last late student it seemed from those with powers to those that were just human. The price she had paid had been star system, or well 5 planets, but well 3 of those worlds had been home to intelligent life the kind she normally avoided unless Galactus was struck by a particularly powerful bout of hunger. She had simply capitalized on such a prize to find 5 worlds ripe with life energy was rare after all. Nova would head off not really messing with the others after all they had to bug the director who Nova have hoped might wonder about letting her stick around for extended periods. Still she was late and she was finally back on earth she needed to get back in the swing of being a student.

Rictor

Despite the lateness there was still a flurry of commotion as more and more students came out of the woodwork. Most startling of all was a comet that stopped just before sure fire destruction with the academy. While still not convinced of even wanting to stay his curiosity was certainly peaked. Maybe if he just took a look around and met some of his classmates Julio might not feel so alien and by the looks of it literal aliens were showing up so really who was he to complain?

He swung his backpack over his shoulder, cuddling it in his arms might look a little childish, and straightened his back before walking through the gates. The small crowd that was gathered around the lone adult couldn't have looked more motley. It was a serious comfort. His eyes naturally fell on the red heads, mainly on the one handing out important looking folders. "Julio Richter!" He said, quickly joining the group. "Um, or Rictor." He said, pushing back his long hair. "Yeah, call me Rictor..." He said, suddenly a little self-conscious and sad. He was here to start new. Why carry along all the baggage of his name and the history it carried. Besides only his mother had called him Julio.

Twist Twist

A high speed jet had taken off from Okinawa in Japan, bearing the Yashida Corp logo on it's side. Shin had spent most of the flight meditating and hoping the school wouldn't be a waste of time like the Hydra Academy ended up being. Hydra Academy brought him no closer to surpassing his father, he didn't have the time to let a second school deny him progress. He received an announcement from the pilot that his stop was approaching and in brief red flash of his tachyon field, he summoned his armor. He opened the helmet briefly to make his over to the backroom of the plane and once he closed the door, the room was sealed. Then the floor opened up beneath him and Shin fell into freefall where he promptly activated his armor's jet boots. Shin rocketed towards the Avengers Academy from the air like a missile from a fighter plane.

He approached fast and furious, but ended with a soft landing in front of the school. He rose to full height before approaching Director Fury and his Assistant. "Shingen Harada the Second." he said introducing himself, he could see from afar they were handing out folders to each student so he opened up his hand to receive his folder. The helmet of his armor opened up to reveal his face so that they could in good confidence confirm his identity.

Twist Twist

Nick looked over the crowd as Pepper handed out folders to each of them with a smile. He had been hoping for more, but nine was a good start even if they seemed a bit rough around the edges. But Pepper was a good at finding potential recruits and he had an eye for potential with most of these students fitting the bill. And the others; well he hoped they could prove him wrong. He walked over to Pepper who was talking to the young Rictor, giving Natasha a quick look as he passed her. "I think we have enough students to get started now Pepper"

The sly student liaison knew where he was going and asked the group to gather up and follow here to the quad, the Director staying behind in case anymore students showed up at the gates. As they went, Pepper explained everything the students would need to know and pointed out the many buildings and facilities that the Academy had to offer with them all soon arriving at the Bulletin Board, something that Pepper would need to explain in depth to the gabbing group.

"Ok everyone, this is the Bulletin Board" She pointed at the board which already had some assignments and notices from the faculty pinned to it " This is where you will get your assignments from teachers as well as any notices from the staff or fellow students." The crowd of students seemed a bit disheartened at the sound of work others a bit confused. "Avengers Academy offers a free study form of education allowing you to study what you'd like, when you like. Within reason" Those last words cutting a few smiles from some of the students faces. "And these assignments are set by your teachers to better your abilities or, if they feel your falling behind, get you back on track. And once you complete them remember to inform your teacher about your progress so they can take them down otherwise the assignment will be taking down involuntarily and your grades may suffer"

Pepper looked at all the students hoping her explanation had sunk in before finishing her speech. "But for now, feel free to explore the Academy and get to know each other but remember these assignments must be done as soon as possible."

She turned back to the board, going over the assignments herself before leaving.

Sam was a bit surprised when someone talked to him, but an easy grin spread over his face when he saw that it was Steve. "Very funny, Steve. No, my car quit on me so I had to call an Uber. If you want my advice, never call an Uber. They're freaking crazy." Sam said, shivering slightly at the memory of the sickening car ride. "Thank you." He said quietly as he accepted his file from the red-haired lady. "So what is the great Captain America's excuse for being late? Let me guess, you had to help an old lady cross the street, didn't you?" He joked, nudging Steve good-naturedly.

Sam's attention shifted back to the red-headed lady, who was now leading the group around. He tried to keep track of all the buildings that were named, but he was probably screwed unless there was a map in his file. He stayed close to Steve as the group gathered around a bulletin board. He raised an eyebrow at Steve as the lady explained what the board was. He wasn't entirely sure what to think of the idea; it certainly wasn't like anything he had had to do at the Military Academy.

His face settled into a slightly pensive frown. At least this wasn't giving him any flashbacks to Military Academy...yet. He glanced thoughtfully at the group around him, taking in the wide variety. That was another difference from the MA; everyone there looked basically the same. This looked more like Fury trying to babysit a bunch of troublemaking kids from all over the universe. That thought had him smiling a little and he quickly decided that this might just be what he needed. Nick Fury; director of the world's leading surveillance and undercover agency, and now, babysitter.

The trouble with the red head being within hearing range of Fury made him think of going the opposite direction to greet Steve who'd come back from the nearby town. She was very good at slipping where he couldn't follow or pester. Fury, after his warning over the Hydra thugs, he didn't want in his business. Much less that he wasn't totally sure what was real or a dream, or instinct.

She had answers... and as luck would have it the secretary woman was distracted by another student and Fury moved past the girl. A grim, and determined smile quirked on his lips before falling away as he quickly made his way to her. He was determined not to let her, and her answers slip away.

As he rounded on her, he nearly grabbed her elbow to keep her in place but he was reminded of how she threw him off before. Better not to spook her. Spook... right, she'd probably leave the second he said something. As the group was told to follow the secretary, he realized, with a short lived grin she had nowhere to go. She had to follow the group and they were behind the others. Another turn of luck.

"How do I know you?" He asked crisply, cutting to the chase in a low voice. He had lost patience trying to find her around, and when he did she'd run off. He needed to know, and she was going to tell him. Especially since orientation was mandatory. "I'm done playing cat and mouse with you," He warned, blue eyes looking down at her with an edge.

"Could probably run faster than an Uber if I wanted to," Steve replied out of the corner of his mouth, multitasking as he listened to both Sam and Fury at almost the same time.

He chuckled at the suggestion. Truth be told, he didn't really have a good excuse. He hadn't managed his time well and it had cost him a good first impression. But, when you started really low, that just gave you more room to climb your way up.

"Yup," he said, nodding along with a sardonic smile. "That's exactly right. You know how it is, always someone who needs help.

Steve discreetly opened up his file as he spoke and listened, glancing over the assignment within. Nothing too complicated, by the looks of it. Beat up some robots and keep himself from getting rusty. It was practically mundane at this point in Steve's life.

"Combat training," Steve chuckled to Sam. "Don't know what else I was expecting first day."

Natasha followed Fury and Pepper as she tried to stay unnaturally close to the director. She could feel someone's gaze on her and it made her hair stand on end. She didn't even want to stay near Fury and the fellow redhead but it felt like it was the only way to make the Winter Soldier stay away. He had pestered ever since she had taken the thugs down for him. Just as the director talked about assignments, Natasha groaned internally but was grabbed by her wrist. The only thing that kept her from kicking and punching was the fact that Fury was nearby and she had nowhere to run.

Her cold gaze met the blue eyes of the Winter Soldier and she felt herself trembling for a moment. His eyes had always been a weak spot for her but as soon as he spoke and demanded answer, she seemed to grow stiff and her usual mask taking over. "Well, you're bad because I'm just getting started.", she told him and tried her best not to walk the other way. This school sucked more and more each day without having to worry about someone to kill her.

The redhead sped up her steps and walked up to the board, leaving the Winter Soldier standing to himself once again. She looked at the assignment and rolled her eyes. "Are we supposed to do this today or sometime this week?", she asked Fury but looked at Pepper to get some kind of answer. "And do we need to team up with the person who's on the same paper as we are?", she asked hoping for Fury to decline because she definitely wasn't looking forward to do those things with the Winter Soldier. Training under him once was enough for a lifetime! But it would be really interested to see Madame Hydra interact with James Barnes after she had basically sent those thugs to get him.

Nova took the flyer with her name it was apparently hank pym wanting to test energy stuff and Nova wondered just what his devices could take when compared to someone like her that used to power cosmic. She doubted any force on earth, or any force earth born could compare to what she could dish out for worlds far advanced beyond this world had tried and failed to stop her. She did think that perhaps she should show them just what they were asking for, her going full out and likely destroying that darn building by truly becoming a sun. Still that would be bad already she realized her really bad habit was showing up already she was thinking of the people around her as lesser beings. She might be adopting her masters mindset a little to much no life but his mattered to him in some respects, though she suspected there was an unspoken implications he at least somewhat cared for her.

Well the best way to get back in touch was to be around others and get back to who she was. This meant asking whoever else was going to the blasting range to hang out while they were there. " Hey I got blasting range anyone else going?" She called out.

Rictor

Julio was surprised at the looseness of the classes. He'd been expecting something more structured, like his old high school. But this was kind of exciting. He hadn't expected that, and the students who were around seemed exciting to be around. His reservations were, at least for now, on the back burner. He'd have to drop his stuff off at his dorm, but for now he got up close to the bulliten board to take a better look at what his first class might be.

"High energy," Well that certainly was him, he swallowed a little thickly as he looked at the location. "Wait! I'm just supposed to use my powers out in the open?" He said, a little shrilly. Those reservations were creeping back as he worried about destroying the damn campus on his first day. What use would it be to have made it all the way here just to be kicked out for dropping the academy into a lower part of the Earth's crust. He looked for the Director or Pepper but they'd seemed to have done all that was required of them and left. Rictor huffed turning back to the board as if it had more answers for him, but it was just the same information as before.

Well, he didn't have to immediately do this assignment so he'd put it off. If he was still even here in a couple days, he'd eventually get to it. He was sure, instead he made a dismissive sound. "What about an early lunch? Can't do any work on an empty stomach." He said to his classmates, trying to come off as more aloof than scared of the assignment.

Shin took note of his assignments which was apparently to go to the Asgardian Gauntlet, his instructions was to expend some energy. "Well this should be a good workout." He commented aloud before blasting off in his Silver Samurai armor. He cruised through the air over to the outside of the Asgardian Gauntlet, he landed with a metallic clank and walked into the building. He stepped onto the otherworldly golden plate and was transported into a simulation. He could already see the holographic enemies taking form in response he plucked two sword hilts from their sheaths and activated their tachyon drivers. The hilts fabricated full japanese blades and glowed with the red tachyon hue.

Matt moved towards the swarm of activity that was, from what he had heard, his soon to be classmates and teachers. He walked slowly, very slowly. Perhaps too slowly. He liked to think it would give him an air of purpose, but he knew the truth. He was prolonging this for as long as possible. He had been doing it all day, moving slowly and dreading this school thing. So much so, apparently, that he had become late. Which made it even worse! Now, not only was he revealing his secret to a bunch of strangers and navigating an unknown place with no friends, he would be different because he was the idiot who turned up late. Yay.

When he sensed life forms begin to peel off and separate from the group, he knew it was the best time to get involved. He picked up his stride, cane moving purposefully ahead of him, and came to a stop on the outskirts of the group. He recognized Fury's heartbeat and slight smoky tang from when the man had paid him a visit back in Hells Kitchen, and he addressed him.

"Mr Fury. I apologize for my tardiness, it won't happen again." Realizing that he would have to eventually communicate with more than just the principle, he gave a small and hesitant introduction to the rest of the group, as an after thought. "Matt Murdock. Nice to meet you all."
