"Don't worry, you're safe here."
A phrase Emanuel had said to every resident of Marshwood Home at least once. Some kids needed to hear it a little more than others, and that was okay, he would say it as many times as was necessary. He would admit, some of the older kids would scoff at him. They didn't need reassuring, at least that was what they wanted him to think. On the other hand, he had definitely made a few kids cry. They hadn't felt safe in a long, long time.

Emanuel stood in the rec room, making a final check of his watch. Alright, it was 9pm, everything was set. He headed to the door, poking his head out.
"Kids! Movie night!" He called out, his voice echoing through the old home. His voice surprisingly carried quite far, especially in a home so big, but growing up with a father who had unofficially adopted 20+ children, you learned to be loud.

On the coffee table he'd set up as many bowls of snacks as he could fit, pretzels, crisps, popcorn... fruit... Well, he had to try and balance it out somehow. Everything was nut free and he had separated the dairy, gluten free and vegan snacks to one side to prevent any confusion. On the sofa was all of the spare blankets, plushies and pillows he could find, ready to be made into a fort. As he stood back with his hands on his hips, he couldn't help but feel slightly proud of his creation and excited to see the kids reactions to it.

Charlie
Interaction: Miaow Miaow

The nerve in the car were needless to say high. Mostly from the cop as he drove down the road not daring to look backwards at the person in his back seat. No words were exchanged or glances given only the slight sounds of hissing came from the back of the squad car as the cruiser eventually came to a halt. With a sigh the cop took a moment to look over the mansion he sat in front off, his mind going through all the kids he had brought here. “Well what’s one more.” He mumbled before climbing out of the cruiser. Leaning his passenger were she was for now as he walked slowly up the path to the big front doors of this “orphanage” for the empowered and knocked on the door. Not to hard of. Purse but loud enough that at least someone should have heard. If not already seen the red and blue lights from the cruiser. “Let’s just hope they aren’t so angry with him as they were with me heh.” The cop muttered to himself glancing back to the car then to the door to wait.

Charlie on the other hand was anxious, her snakes clearly unhappy during the car ride as they filled the air with displeased hisses as they moved around. All except one which sat cooked in Charlie’s lap, her hands gently running over its head and scales. As they pulled up to the mansion her snakes grew ever more angry as they watched the cop get out and go to the door. Simply staring at him, a few even coiled back. Waiting to try and possibly strike whoever came to open the door despite Charlie’s wants for them to not. God if they had just listened she wouldn’t be here. Well truthfully if those thugs hadn’t tried to assault her they wouldn’t have been attacked by her snakes but of course since she was empowered and they weren’t she was at fault. A thought she quickly pushed away, simply steeling herself to wait here as the cop once more knocked on the heavy wooden door.

Anya
Interactions: Open

Anya had been rather relaxed today compared to her usual hyper nature. Proffering to simply cat nap around the home till she had heard the familiar call of Emanuel for a nightly activity and this time it was a Movie. Her head shot up from the roof beam she found herself napping on. A bright smile on her lips as she slid to her right. Falling from it till her tail wrapped around the beam just before she hit the ground. Saving herself before dropping her to her feet with a happy hmph from hitting the ground before she immediately started off in a trot like run through the house. Naturally she was on of the first to there movie room. “Papa!” She said happily as she raced down the hall nearly colliding into Emanuel as she went past him and straight into the movie room. There she jumped excitedly onto the couch seeing as she was the first one in the room. Though her joy was quickly came to a halt when her eyes went to the piles of food and one thing was missing. Her lips curled into a pout as she glared adorably into the door way and yelled out. “Papa!!! I want food too!!” She whined at the door. She wanted her food as well though didn’t understand that her meals could be rather unsightly to others but that’s just what it was. She needed meat she was a carnivore of big appetites so a cow leg raw was her favorite. Or a whole pig or any animal really. Either way seeing all this food she couldn’t eat made her spirits drop a little

Bashi Ravern
If there was one thing Bashi hated, it was the cacophony of the house on movie night. With so many kids living in the house, and with so many of them enjoying movie night, it got a little hectic around. There were lots of loud noises as the younger kids bounced off the walls and got ready to eat tons of snacks and stay up late watching movies they probably shouldn't be watching. But it was nice enough to hang out with the older kids, playing games and enjoying the company of people your age. It was nice enough that Bashi attended movie nights instead of hole-ing up in his room and being bitter and feral.

At least it was generally a better affair than breakfast. Mostly. As long as Rat kept his fucking thief hands to himself and his nasty ass spit away from Bashi's general vicinity. There was no telling how Bashi would fly off the handle if Rat messed with him too much. There'd been many a butter knife thrown at Rat's head because he annoyed Bashi a little too much. And as long as Grayson didn't antagonize Auguste to the point of murder.

Hmm. Maybe they should all go to therapy twice a week like Emmanuel suggested. That is if there was therapists (or even just one) that could handle all their various mental instabilities. Not even counting the general trauma they all had by being "blessed" with different mutant abilities. Bashi still remebered the therapist who had used that line on him. He ended up trying to bite her ankle. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful. Sometimes he wondered if she quit her job after that. It would've been better for everyone.

He hoped she did.

Anyways, movie night and the lengths that Emmanuel would go to to make everyone feel safe, comfortable, and normal. Bashi could appreciate them in his less feral moments, but for the most part, his pseudo-father tried too hard. But it was the thought that counted, so Bashi sucked it up every time. Currently, he was walking down the main staircase to the first floor when he heard a knock.
It was pretty odd for Marshwood to have visitors. They were mostly considered outcasts of the neighborhood. Everyone knew what the house at the end of the street was for and mostly stayed far away. And Bashi had lived there long enough that visitors now made him ansty instead of excited. He liked the secluded safety and solitude he and his housemates shared. They had their place in the world and everyone else had theirs. And it was a balance that was kept perfectly peaceful by people not knocking on the door. Even so, it was refreshing every once in a while to wrench open the door and snarl in the face of whatever normal shmoe was on the other side.

This time however it happened to be a deputy from the department, his squad car lights flashing in the waning light of the sun. The deputy of course asked for Emmanuel or another adult (even though as of last month Bashi is now an adult thankyou very much) and Bashi nodded, taking it up on himself to leave the room and return using Emmanuel's face. Obviously Emmanuel was busy or he would come to the door. The exchange with the cop was rather odd. In the sense that Bashi just nodded or shook his head, and the cop definitely thought it odd that Emmanuel wouldn't speak to him, but ultimately decided not to comment apparently as he just gestured to the mutant he had in his squad car to come on out and up the front steps. As soon as the cop drove off though, Bashi shifted back to his own skin, nodded once to the snake haired girl, and continued his way down to the movie room.

"Kids! Movie night!"

Autumn blinked as she heard Emanuel's voice echo through-out the large house, her fingers pausing against the page she had been reading. Had time passed that quickly already? Shutting her book and resting it on the bed beside her, she stretched her arms over her head with a sigh. Sliding down from the mattress, she wiggled her toes against the soft rug stretched along the length of her bed. Reaching to the side, she picked up her cane from where it was folded on the nightstand and headed to the door, fingers sliding along the wood until they grasped the metal handle.

Unfolding her cane and placing her hand against the wall, she slowly set off towards her destination: the Rec Room. Her cane swept in a back and forth arc in front of her, the soft tapping sound it made against the wall causing small ripples in the darkness and outlining part of the wall. Though she had been staying at the house for a month already, she didn't quite feel like she knew the layout well enough to warrant walking around without her cane, even with her ability. Not to mention there were toys scattered in random places like a mine-field that she sometimes missed seeing; her feet were still sore after stumbling over those Legos the first week she had arrived.

Reaching the end of the hallway and the beginning of where she knew the stairs were, she lifted her cane and tapped it sharply against the ground, the sound outlining the top of the stair for her. Hand sliding down the wall to grip the rail, Autumn shuffled forward until she felt the edge of the step with her toes. Hand tightly gripping the railing, Autumn lowered her foot until she felt the stair below it, bringing her other foot down to join it. She repeated this step all the way down the stairs, slowly sliding one foot forward to find the edge of the step and then carefully lowering it to the next step down. It took time. but she has tripped over her own feet before, she wasn't taking any chances on stairs.

Eventually her feet touched the bottom, a sharp tap from her cane showing that there was no more stairs to traverse. Relaxing her grip on the railing, she turned towards the direction of the Rec Room, her cane making a soft tap tap tap noise as she headed towards the sound of voices. "Hello?" She called out hesitantly as she stepped inside the room, positive she had heard Anya's voice as she came down the stairs.
