Marauders in Mirstone

Cait Merlin

"Aye, aye, Captain," Cait said to Sora before heading off to the city market. She didn't really run into any trouble on the way to the water merchant's booth, some of the pirates and townsfolk gave her odd looks for being part Fishman, but for the most part the pirates were more worried about the big ships that were heading toward the docks.

"Remember me?"
Cait asked the water merchant as she stepped up to his booth. She remembered helping Sora buy water like it was yesterday, because it happened yesterday, but she figured that the merchant probably would have remembered her if she had been there last week. Cait placed her guitar case on the merchant's table and opened it up to gather up her beli. She started placing beli on the merchant's table and paid for a total of four water barrels. Cait slung her guitar case back over her shoulder, she then picked up the barrels and carried two barrels in each arm while resting them on her shoulders.

Cait walked back toward the Lucky Nova at a normal pace, her Fishman muscles easily handled the load of the barrels. As she got closer to the ship she head a voice trying to get someone's attention. After reaching the ship she noticed the unconscious Seth and the dwarf woman. Cait quickly placed the barrels on the dock and ran over to them. She recognized Seth from their conversation the day prior and how he had been ecstatic after seeing her Fishman features. "This is the right place," Cait told Keya as she gently picked Seth up by placing an arm under his legs and knees and the other arm under his back and neck.

With a nod, Cait invited Keya to follow her onto the ship as she started to transport Seth's limp body to a bunk below deck. "Thank you for looking after him. Do you know what happened to my crewmate?" Cait asked as she walked.

Keya Fenris

Keya was just about to give up on finding the crew Seth belonged to when some freaky half Fishwoman walked up and picked him up after confirming she was at the right place. Thank God she hadn't spent the past bit for nothing! She sighed heavily as Seth's weight was removed from her. Of course it wasn't that she wasn't strong, it was the fact of the awkward posistion and that even dwarves got tired after a while. "
Awesome! I was worried I was at the wrong ship area or something." She replied cheerfully.

When offered she promptly followed her onboard the ship and below decks. This was perfect. Even if they didn't let her join the crew she could hide here for days and no one would ever find her. She giggled slightly at her question. "
He hit his head after failing a dismount from a zipline after we blew up the Bell Tower." She replied honestly before shrugging as if what she said was completely normal. "He also got stabbed and choked a bit too." She added, shrugging once more. "I'm Keya by the way, nice to meetcha'." She told her.

Elijah Baden

Eli bit into the lemon wedge, sinking his teeth into it with enough force to spray some juice out into the air. Sucking on the sour fruit, he looked at the handiwork of the workers that had been hired to fix the ship next to his. He sucked on a lemon wedge, the fruit hidden by his lips covering it. Each time he heard a hammer strike, or a saw cut through the broken wood, Elijah felt it grind in his bones. He physically shivered at the noises nearby, the arrogant words of the workers setting his mind at edge.

If there was one thing Elijah knew, it was that a good ship meant good hands. Looking down at his own, Elijah saw his tools. He flexed his fingers, the calloused and scarred knuckles showing all his training and experience as a shipwright. Holding his arms out farther in front of him, he saw the scars that ran up them, and rolled over the muscles he had been working on for years. He always thought of his own body as a ship. He constructed it and made it stronger, and added more weapons to his arsenal as a result to fight attackers. His greatest creation...

He winced as he heard another hammer strike. There was no love behind the hammer. All he could hear was greed. The workers that Captain had hired were all in it for the money, and didn't want to make something beautiful. Eli tried to ignore it, but each sound that came from the baboons below him made him twitch.

After a few minutes, he shot up, roaring. "
I can't deal with this anymore! All there are around here are amateurs! There's no way someone could be happy listening to something like this!" Turning on his heel, Eli stalked over to the ladder that lead down to the docks below. Sliding down, he stalked silently over to the damaged ship, his teeth grinding.

He walked past the workers, feeling sick to his stomach as he listened to them. He instead looked around, trying to find a way onto the ship. He had to talk to someone on the ship to put his mind at ease. He saw some barrels on the dock, and picked one up quickly to check its contents, realizing it was water. Hoisting one onto his shoulder, and balancing the other on the palm of his hand, he made his way onto the deck of the ship.

As he dropped the barrels onto the main deck, he looked around. Groaning, he ran a hand through his hair, pulling at the gray streak that hung limply over his face. An old habit of his. He began to walk around on deck, looking for someone, anyone!

"
Hey! Yo! Anyone here?! If you are, come out! I need to have a little chat about the shitty job that's getting done on your ship!" Reaching into his trench coat, Eli pulled out a bottle of brandy, and took a huge swig of it before slamming it down on the barrel of water. The sun shone overhead, and Eli began to feel all the sweat that was growing on his body. Pulling the coat off, he flung it over one shoulder as he leaned against the barrel. "Show your face before I rip the hands off of all those workers! You're killing me here!"

Kenji Kita

Kenji ran through town. Three members. That's all his crew consisted of. He needed to find more people to make his crew complete. He didn't know where that boy Mal had gone, or the other one... The white haired boy... The one who he couldn't remember the name of... Dammit he thought to himself, knowing that if Stacy were near she would laugh at him and pick at him for not paying attention enough to peoples names. He ran into the centre of town and began to look around. It would be nice if he could find her again, Stacy and convince her to join his crew, he didn't care to much for that Syrin fellow, but he would take him on board too if he wanted to go, the more people the better chances they had of surviving in the grandline.

Kenji knew it was only right to try and find them and the other friend they had picked up. "Ah god Dammit, They are probably staying in a Inn somewhere" He said to him self running from Inn to Inn around the town square, where most Inns were located. He ran into one an some how managed to spot the pair near the steps. "Hey Stacy, Syrin" he shouted to them running over. "Hey I know I'm probably one of the last people you want to be seeing right now Syrin seeing as you hate me so much, Though I don't know what I've done to deserve so much hate, but right now Marines are coming into Mirstone, and it looks like a whole fleet. I suggest you find your other friend and get the hell out of here. If you want free passage aboard my ship I'm offering it as long as you do your fair share" he said running off, "When you make up your minds my ship will be at the docks, But I wont be waiting long" He said leaving the inn, with a little relief as he at least managed to let them know what was coming.

He continued to run through the streets and town offering people passage aboard his ship for work, most of which were already in crews or refused his help. By doing this he hoped to rack up a few crew members along with the three he already had.

Cait Merlin

"Sounds like quite the adventure," Cait said to Keya as she carried Seth. She was surprised by how action packed Seth's yesterday was. "I'm Cait." After introducing herself, Cait placed Seth on a bunk below deck. It wasn't the quietest place due to the repair work on the Lucky Nova, but there was no better resting alternative than a bed. Cait made sure that Seth was situated on the bunk before turning her attention to the dwarf. "Did you come to Mirstone with a crew or are you alone? The Captain isn't here right now, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind new members, if you need a crew."

Cait wanted to stay and listen to Keya's reply when she heard Elijah yelling. It looked like she'd have to do more walking and talking with the dwarf. Cait signaled again to be followed before heading to the Lucky Nova's deck. "If you aren't happy with how these men are doing their job, why not lead the repair work yourself?" she asked as she crossed her arms under her bust. "Or are you afraid of becoming attached to the Lucky Nova and becoming her shipwright? We could use someone like you on the crew, that is if you're as skilled as you say," Cait playfully teased with a large grin plastered on her face.

Out of the corner of her eye, Cait noticed the water barrels and briefly looked surprised. She remembered leaving them on the dock, so someone must have brought them aboard. "Did you bring the water on board? Thanks for that."

Much of what was going on was going over the head of Skorrigg, despite the feat it had to be given his size. Still, tactics, despite his people's past, were not his strong point. He had never been a tactician or general, nor a leader. He always came in at the back, cleaning up the messes that the Black Faerie's instruments always left behind.

Due to this he largely simply sttled for mutely following Nerissa around, hoping the Priestess might give him something to do with himself, especially due to his twenty eight hour day that he'd had the previous day when he'd met her and the crew. Rather than socialising or meeting anyone new, he'd simply found an area in the cargo hold large enough to allow him to lay down and unarmour himself to sleep, and did just that. Now he regretted the actions and found himself lost amongst the people he didn't know. With any luck things wouldn't get too crazy, but he knew one thing.

If any Marines or Pirates intended harm on his new crew, they we're going to be requested to leave, and not given a choice to answer.

@QuirkyAngel @The Charbydis Crew

_______

Ferra mentally readied herself as Jasper came near and wrapped his hand around hers in greeting. Even though she'd offered, her body stiffened as she forced herself not to tighten her grip too tightly against her fellows, even as her left hand's knuckles whitened under her gauntlet from the force she was exerting on the hilt she had viced. A shudder was only just repulsed as she kept herself from jerking away, and when the handshake ended she nodded firmly and covered an exhale of relief with a yawn as she turned to face the Marine craft in the harbour.

"I came to Mirstone because it was quite, but as life seems to be so ready to inform me, peace is not so easily found for one such as I. It is likely you've come to the same conclusion as well. Still, if they won't head whispers of my deeds, and they seek trouble with me, I won't be one to disappoint."

Ferra couldn't help but take note of the messes already forming, and even she knew that of the many Marine movements that had been done since her joining of the military group, this was going to be quite hefty one. Obvious, but hefty nonetheless. A whole town full of pirates was practically a pheasant dressing itself and laying down on your plate, something she'd known since the beginning of the hunt for the map. She had expected it. But a movement this large... It was a surprise to say the least.

"What do you suppose they've come for? The pirates make for an ample target, obviously, but this much fire power is something even I wouldn't expect."

As she let the implications hang in the air she listened in on Rena speaking to Jasper's captain. Part of her was happy the judgemental shit was leaving the crew. One thing she hated was people thinking they knew her, or understood her, or had any right to judge her. Yea, sure, she knew she had problems. Doesn't mean she wanted people to tell her about it though. Still though, she really was naive and bound to get into trouble. Taking a moment to mull things over, she reached into a pouch on her belt and pulled forth a small bag of money, enough to buy a simple blade or pistol. Turning to the woman, Ferra idly tossed the bag at her feet before returning her focus to the craft in the harbour.

"Rena, buy yourself a derringer for emergencies. Give it my name if it makes you feel better using it, I couldn't care any less, just don't die. The world actually needs fresh faced doe eyed young people like you regardless of how much you all piss me off."

Holding up a hand to show she neither wanted nor expected a response Ferra leaned closer to Jasper as she regarded the dreadnought once more.

"I don't know how you're intending to leave her, but I have a theory for getting past that floating castle, if you're interested to hear it."

@AllHailDago @DaughterofAthena @vergil

Fresh faced and doe eyed - well she'd been called worse; and it was true. She had seen nothing of the world but seeing it with fresh eyes was just the type of journalism that was easy to write. Seeing it with untainted and unbiased eyes was exactly what was needed for her. She looked at the bag of beli and picked it up.

"I'll try not to die - it wasn't on my to do list and I'll make sure it stays that way." Rena replied, "but I'll use this money and make sure that the hungry kid I give it to knows that it was you that donated it."

She recalled leaving her home island and the decision as to what she should take with her on her journey. She had fired a gun before and hated the feel of it - the overwhelming power in your hand that made you feel like you could take on the world. False confidence. She opted for her homemade grenades - mostly because she had a sense of pride in them. She followed the recipe from her books and applied other theories to it. She had a few failures (the sleeping gas was the most difficult as she was never sure if it was the late nights or the gas that made her collapse), but her concoctions were perfect now.

"I have my own way of fighting and I have the weapons I need, but thank you. Sincerely. I'm happy that you are looking out for me....I think we just have a fairly strong difference of opinion on certain matters that we probably will never see eye to eye on. Who knows though - maybe we will."

"Still no amount of fight is going to help us against that Marine ship. Any suggestions?"

Elijah Baden

Elijah took another swig of the brandy, his annoyance growing as he listened to the morons work on the ship. He meandered over to the side of the ship, looking down over them. One or two looked up at him and waved before getting back to work, but Eli didn't return the gesture. He just scowled, turning back and going back to the center of the main deck.

When someone finally showed up, Eli was pleasantly surprised that it was the fishwoman, whose name he vaguely remembered as Cait. However, the dwarf she was walking with was someone Elijah didn't recognize. He wasn't sure if shehad been on the ship the other day when the hole had been blown in it or if she was some new recruit to the pirate crew. Either way, he was glad someone was here, before he made his way down and started tossing the workers below into the ocean himself.

Eli moved himself so he was sitting on one of the barrels of water. He groaned as he rubbed his temples. "
Okay, listen...this ship is a piece of art. All ships are, but this one looks like something more. If you were a real shipwright, you could feel it. The way the wood feels under your hands, you would feel every shape of the boat, to even the tiniest splinter. When you employ the monkeys you have working down there, it's a disgrace to the beauty of ships." Jumping off the barrel, Eli knelt down, and ran his fingers over the main deck. "I come from a family of shipwrights. Even when everyone else gave up on the craft, I stuck to it. That's why I built that monster over there." He jerked his thumb to his own ship next to the Lucky Nova. "A ship that won't only sail every sea in the world, but a ship that will be able to take on the entire Marine Navy! That's my goal."

Eli rubbed his chin. "
I would have no problem becoming your shipwright...but the problem is what I would do with my own ship. It's not exactly something I want to let get into anyone else's hands, but I don't want to destroy something like that so easily either..." Sighing, Eli waved his hand dismissively. "How about for now you send those morons you have belittling this ship away. I'll pay them for the shitty job they've done, and I'll do the rest and a bit more. Sound good?"

Priestess Nerissa Orta

“I’ve found some rope, Mr. Cletus” Nerissa declared as she climbed back on deck with a coil of rope in her arms. She looked completely different from when she went below deck. Her head was adorned with a curly, black wig and the gem on her forehead was gone.“I couldn’t find a trader’s flag though. We’ll have to make do without one.”

She glanced at Skorrigg who had followed her around and helped her search…at least until she asked him to help prepare the ship for departure. Discretely of course. The sails would be loosened from their bindings so that they could be freed at any time. They couldn’t hoist the anchor without their Captain and any missing supplies would have to be hastily bought and stocked on the ship. They would also need to determine the route they would take before sailing. There was much to be done.

“Will you help me with ropes, Mr. Skorrigg?”Nerissa asked, holding the bundle out to the large Viking. “Tie it tight, but not too tight please.”

Truthfully, Nerissa’s “plan” was just a crude mesh of all the ideas that have been laid out by her companions. Having the crew take the villains role was a risk. It might invite animosity. Yet, in Nerissa’s mind, it didn’t really matter what plan the Red Ribbons came up with. So long as they sailed a good and true path, Nerissa had faith that Aquarius would watch over them.

That…and Nerissa wanted to try her hand at acting. She’d seen the plays performed on her Island, though she’d never been allowed to participate herself. They seemed like a lot of fun. It was a much better solution than firing cannons at least.

@Felix

Arlen Hakhassi

Seated in the canoe that he and Nerissa had used to leave Mirage Island, Arlen rowed his way to the merchant vessel that Kaito was on. There wasn’t much else he could do. Flying over to the larger vessel wasn’t an option. Thankfully the canoe wasn’t very big. And the vessel wasn’t too far from the docking area. The Red Ribbon Pirate’s merchant vessel also seemed to turning around…away from the oncoming ships.

Perhaps it would’ve been fine if they waited. Still, there was no way to be sure Mr. Long Red Trenchcoat wasn’t in some sort of trouble. Arlen stared at the looming ships and sighed. Why do the marines have to make things so complicated? Were they even really marines? Nerissa had a point. Arlen had been going off on what Ferra had told him…yet what did he really know about the Mohawk lady? Perhaps they were all worrying over nothing. A funny thought.

One the canoe drew close enough, Arlen tossed a grappling hook and scaled onboard the merchant vessel. The first thing he had to do was assess the situation on the ship. Gun powder. Lots of gun powder. Areln grimaced. He wasn’t very familiar with guns, but he knew enough to know that as soon as it was ignited, the ship would go up in flames. It was how outsiders fought.

“If he’s planning to turn this ship into a bomb, he’s surely got a plan to escape right?”Arlen muttered, mostly to himself. He barely knew Mr. Red Trenchcoat. What on earth had made him suggest they help the guy? “I’m too nice for my own good.”

No. Arlen didn’t particularly care of the man. It was simply a sense of honor. Both he and Nerissa joined the Red Ribbon Pirates. Abandoning a crewmate, even a suicidal one, left a foul taste in his mouth. Making his way to where the other two aboard the ship were, Arlen’s gaze flickered between his fellow Red Ribbon Pirate and the unknown man at the steering wheel. Something about the one at the steering wheel made him feel uneasy, though he couldn’t place why.

“Is he a friend of yours?” Arlen asked Kaito casually, though his eyes were locked on the one at the steering wheel. His instincts, oddly enough, were telling him enemy. And, as a fighter, Arlen trusted his instincts above all else.

Keya Fenris

Keya giggled, "
It really was. It was awesome! Nice to meetcha' Cait." She replied excitedly. It really had been fun even se had nearly died multiple times. She guessed that just made it even more fun though, the fact that she had survived that is. Not nearly dying. She looked up at her with wide eyes and she asked if she came with a crew or alone, and she was sure she could join this one if she wanted to. Perfect! She knew delivering Seth would work!

Before she could say anything some whacko upstairs started about killing the workers for the shitty job they were doing. Pouting because she was interrupted she followed Cait upstairs and listened to the conversation. This guy was nuts, one hundred percent. It was as if he could he would marry a ship. Not to mention the fact he thought he could take on the entire marine navy. Like that would ever happen.

She laughed silently to herself but remained quiet beyond that, not wanting to insult the man and cost the ship a crew member or anything. Though she did turn to Cait, "
As for me I'd love to join the crew! I was actually kind of looking for one. It's kind of dangerous to be a dwarf you know, slavers hunt us a lot and stuff." She told her cheerfully before shrugging. Besides, it was the least they could do for her returning their crew member, right?

Jasper Pharos and Ferra McKlinnen

Jasper watched Ferra's varied reactions to his presence and movements. Rather interesting to say the least. He would not have expected such caution or worry from one such as her. However he would keep such in mind as it made her all the more dangerous, despite her seemingly... honorable seems the wrong word... whatever, her honorable nature. All the while he kept an attempted track on the presence he felt from above. Whoever was watching him from the mast was really skilled in concealment.

He turned up an eyebrow at Ferra's mention of an escape plan. "Oh, pray do tell. I was thinking over such an issue myself and most options seem poor choices. I would welcome your opinions on the matter."

Ferra nodded in agreement that many of the options were going to lead to trouble, if not outright death. That said, she knew Marines, and as tactical thinking had been one of her specialities that led to her promotion, the woman locked her eyes on the dreadnought as she mulled over her thoughts. At the same time she focused hard on not snapping at Rena as the girl responded despite her signalling to keep her mouth shut.

"Bah, that girl, I'll be glad to see her back when you leave. If I wanted to listen to a bleeding heart I'd skewer a man and move on with life," she grumbled, always finding one judging her irritating, especially when they were like Rena, "Still, on to the topic of the escape. I would rush the dreadnought. Full steam ahead style charge, use the crew to harass the top deck crew. I'd jump to the ship and go down stairs to harass the lower deck cannon crew. Sail right past them and make a point to keep them from firing. That dreadnought's here for shock and awe more than likely, and I'd wager a life's earnings that they wouldn't expect a frontal assault from any pirates here."

Jasper frowned slightly deeper with each word. It was a plan he had considered to some degree and had at least some merit. However there was another factor he thought might make that idea rather.... pointless. Most likely lethal on top of that. "I had considered the notion. But I ask of you that which i asked myself after considering such a plan. What about the other ships?"

"Evasive maneuvers and prayer," Ferra commented, allowing herself a small smirk at the comment, "Truth is, making your way through that many craft will take work no matter what you do, and I never expected to have to formulate an escape via ship from Mirstone, mostly because I never originally planned on joining a crew of pirates."

Letting a small frown form on her face, she eyed her fellow looking for any hints that he may have ideas, but it was looking like the best hope would be to flash by the dreadnought and hope that none of the craft behind it would be ready or expecting to deal with a ship.

"I can't say I have an immediate plan outside of shock and awe right back and hoping they expected none to pass their dreadnought. Would you happen to have any ideas on the topic?"

Jasper set his mouth in a firm line. Apparently she had misunderstood him, but that was to some degree what he expected. "Not the two with them. The other ships we have yet to see. Think of this. The map seemed a tad too good to be true and suddenly on the same island where masses of pirates and criminals gather this attack strikes. Were it you leading this strike, would you send your full forces immediately all on one side of the island? Or would you send a probing force and surround the island to take the prey as they flee?" He tilted his head, gauging her reaction as he spoke.

Even as Jasper spoke it clicked in Ferra's mind like a gear sliding into place, and almost immediately her mind raced to adjust her plan about the dreadnought. Harassing the dreadnought could very well still work, but Jasper wasn't wrong and the former Captain was kicking herself for not thinking of it before. But if enough ships leapt at the chance to flee if the dreadnought was put out of commission, and then they attempted to flee...

"Perhaps, if our captains can be convinced, our crew temporarily works together. You and I take to the dreadnought, keep them busy. We've done it before, it can be done again. Whilst we do that, our ships hang back and signal to others to flee. Just like when a group of thief children are cornered by an officer, during the scatter the important ones wait to see where the officer chases the others to, and slips through the cracks. The other options would be to try to hide and ride it out, or fight our way out, but given certain high level bounties and memorable faces, I doubt the hiding plan would work too well."

The options over all weren't that good. She'd expected the Marines to come, of course, but her original plan was to flee inland, alone and without a crew to worry about. Her last minute decision, it seemed, was coming back to bite her.

Ah, a simile he could easily comprehend, although not one he was proud of understanding so thoroughly. It could likely work in all honesty, such discord could easily cause confusion amongst the waiting Marines. "Hm. Yes, I think that could very well work. Now we see whether or not our Captain's will listen to our plans and if the crews can work them out. The newly gathered crews seem to have trouble amongst themselves so this should prove... difficult. Any port in a storm I suppose."

Ferra couldn't supress her look of discontent as Jasper mentioned the barriers between the crews, especially given that her fellow crewmembers seemed to have not taken her words to heart about preparing the ship. His words also reminded her of the git that was Rena. Rolling her eyes and narrowing them right after, she cracked her knuckles in frustration.

"Oh yea, I miss the days when I'd just belt a few people, or crack some heads together and everyone shut up and did as they were told. In all honesty my captain hasn't even returned to our ship anyhow." she stated, taking a moment to look back to the city as another thought crossed her mind, "When do you suppose they'll have soldiers in the streets? If they've surrounded the bay to trap those in it, it'd make sense to pincer the attack. Have them run people to their ships from the city, and then run the ships into the waiting Marine craft."

Jasper looked between Ferra and Miss Rena with sudden realization. "Well I suppose a past as Captain of your own crew will leave you with such ideals. Alas I fear such thoughts are best put behind us both for now. As neither of us are Captain of our crews i doubt attempts to rule by force and fear are likely to bear fruit. However logic, which you appear quite capable of, would likely convince our captain's to order the crews. Then regardless of their desire they'd either have to leave, comply, or we could then... knock some sense into them as you would say."

He looked to the nearing ships with a frown and pondered her question. "I would expect that those on the ship will land within the hour if they plan to land at all. As for pincering us and soldiers in the city. Well if the map was indeed a rumor spread to get people here, what is to say there are not Marines already among us? Incognito like you and I, only with... darker aspirations. I say we work to propose our plans posthaste. Do you agree?"

"Certainly," Ferra replied with a hint of finality.

They needed to run the plan by Jasper's captain, as none of the plan would matter if she wasn't willing to listen. Once Kenji returned she could do the same with him, and do her best to convince the crew until he got back. Furthermore Jasper's comment on other Marines amongst them wouldn't actually surprise her too much, especially given her earlier confrontation with the Havrick brothers. If anything it made the chance more likely given the size of the operation.

That and on the note of the Havrick brothers...

"There's a Captain and Commander her, one by the name of Damian, the commander. The captain, well, has a masque and a bow. I only mention them because, despite having an opportunity to try to confront me after the captain recognised me, they didn't. Nor have they attempted to track me down. I know I may not count myself amongst them any longer, and you may not either Jasper, but you can not deny," Ferra stated firmly, her voice carrying strength and conviction, "There are good men amongst the Marines. We'd do well not to kill them should a confrontation occur. Honour and respect, and if they are the good people we reason them to be then they will likely return our actions in turn."

Jasper nodded solemnly. "I make it a point to kill only those I need to in any matter. This shall be no different. Now, I will go speak with my Captain and Miss Rena. Perhaps you could get the message around to your crewmates prior to your captain's return. Good luck Ferra, may your blade strike true." He half bowed and turned on his heel to return to Lady Scarlet and convey the plan. They had their work cut out for them.

@Veirrianna Valentine

Nodding firmly as Jasper made his way to his captain, she too walked towards them, but not to chat. Continuing past the trio, she approached her ship and easily leapt across the space between the dock and the craft before calling out to the crew, hoping this time some may listen to her, or at least stop and pay heed for more than two seconds. She didn't want to be in charge anyhow, it was just that their captain was missing in action, and she had a plan and the understanding of what to do.

"Sea Dragon crew, I'm not here to boss anyone around, but I have a plan for how we can escape upon the return of Captain Kenji, but it'll require actually working together. With ourselves and another crew."

Finally deciding to make himself seen, Norman leapt from the mast near the crows nest. He landed lightly next to the grumbly woman who took his crows nest over in a huff. He shrugged it off and decided to let her blow off whatever steam before asking for it back, but it seemed she and that guy Norman had been watching had an interesting conversation. He tilted his head back and forth like a curious puppy as he stared at her weapon. "Ooooh. You gotta show me how to use that sometime, okay?" He seemed to bounce on his feet as he asked. "Anywhooo, what's up, what's goin on, hmm hmm?!"

Eyeing the man somewhat warily, Ferra noted his interest in her weapon, and knew for a fact he wasn't speaking her sabre. Giving a brief look at herself, it was much more obvious that her Blackheart's Recompense was a weapon rather than armour when not worn draped over her jacket. Shrugging past the trivial detail, she took note of the man's words and nodded back at the group, then towards the dreadnought in the bay.

"An old acquaintance of mine and I just finished discussing a plan to get out of the bay." she conceded, "But it requires a team effort and precise timing. Essentially, a dreadnought is meant to be run from, not charged, and it is what their crew train for. Instead the idea is that our Sea Dragon and their craft would charge the dreadnought, and before pulling along side my acquaintance and I would board the craft and harass the crew members below deck whilst you all harass the member above deck, effectively immobilising the ship and keeping them from firing the guns. We'd then signal for all other pirates to flee."

Pausing for a moment, Ferra gauged the mans reactions to see if he'd caught on, but the bubbly personality the boy seemed to carry only served to somewhat annoy her and she chose to continue.

"Anyhow, the fleeing pirates would spring the trap that is the waiting Marine craft just outside the bay. Once they come out from hiding and chase after the others, our ships would take that opening and leave Mirstone before the Marines can figure out what we'd done."

Norman had gotten a slight bit bored halfway through and pulled out a knife. He had begun picking his nails clean while she spoke, waiting for his time to answer or respond or something. It took him several seconds after she finished speaking to realise she was actually done. He blinked a few times and returned his knife into the folds of his clothes. "That makes sense, although it seems kinda boring. There's only three of their ships and lots of us, and you and your friend can take the whole dreadnaught thingy, what's stopping the rest of us from taking both of the small lil ships?"

Dealing with youths and the inexperienced was always a chore that, as Captain, Ferra'd always put off on someone else, and this was why.

"Yes, we could fight, but I used to be a Marine myself, as did that man. We both agree it makes sense that there is a larger movement her. Too many high value targets in one area to just let it slip away, to many chances to do serious damage to the pirates as well. This would be the perfect chance for them to wipe out a large portion of pirates and secure their own intents."

As she spoke she walked over to where she'd hung her coat and shook it a few times, smiling to herself as she noted the blood seemed to have largely run off of it, though she was still going to wait to wear it as she had moreimportant things to worry about.

"What we need to do is ensure the ship is ready to move as soon as Captain Kenji returns, as I will intend on running the plan by him as soon as he gets back."

Norman scratched his head in thought. Counting on his fingers and looking out at the island he was still pretty sure that there was enough pirates to fight all the marines even if they brought a BUNCH of ships. Despite this he just shrugged it off and decided to trust his crewmate on this, even if she did seem a tad grumpy. Why as everyone so grumpy? Although not being able to stab people was making Norman kinda grumpy.... meh whatever.

"Sounds good. What can I do to help, hmm hm? Prep the sails? Raise the anchor? Cook breakfast?!!?! I could cook breakfast or those other things, yep. Definitely. Which should I do?"

Oh for fu-

"Prepping sails is done right before raising the anchor, and raising the anchor is done right before setting off. Setting off is, you know what, breakfast sounds like the best damned idea I've heard all day! In fact, I'm entrusting you with the mission to make the best breakfast of a caliber never before seen on this side of the world. Besides, it would surely impress the Captain if he were to return to such an amazing meal! I have full faith you can do it!"

Turning away from the lad and doing her best to restrain herself from thumping him across the jaw, the somewhat irate woman decided it was time to find someone more likely to listen to her.

Norman's attention wavered as she berated him about the first two options. However, when she told him to make the best breakfast on this side of the world his eyes were likely the size of dinner plates. Also, while one could not physically see his mouth, it hung happily open. "Oh OHHHH. I can do that. I like youuuu, thats a great idea." He immediately bounded off to the kitchen with unimaginable bounciness and energy. "Waffles, yes waffles with eggs on top and ummm. Hrmmm." He ran through a dozen ideas in a second as his voice trailed off when he went below deck.

Or less likely to make her want to hurt them.

Turning back towards the dock Ferra put forth a minimal amount of effort into the jump that easily carried her through the air and back onto the wooden framed walk way, idly waving a hand at the trio as she stormed past them, her jaw tight and her nerves frayed from both Rena's assumptions and the lads foolishness.

"I'm going to the opening of the docks. Catch Kenji there. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone'll try to kill me. I could use the distraction."

Wil D. Heart

The descent back into Mirstone town had been a relatively short one for Wil. As a boy, Wil learned to read the signs that told of an area's mood as though a song in the background. When he first arrived on Mirstone, the town was rowdy, chaotic and alive. Of course as such was to be expected from an island who made its trade off of pirates. But now, there was a stark difference in the mood. Yes, the island was still rowdy, chaotic and alive. But one only had to look upon the faces of the pirates to see the arousal of excitement had turned to one of panic and anxiety. After all, the waters surrounding the island had began to boil with tension from the impending invasion of marines. He even had to unzip his grey sleeveless jacket feeling the atmospheric temperature rise above Mirstone, not just metaphorically.

Wil had decided to take to the rooftops during his survey of events. Some would say that was dangerous, but not to Wil, up here he was safe and untroubled, free to watch events unfold below without fear of being dragged into fray. "Oh boy." He mumbled to himself while watching on. Pirates ran through the streets frantically like a flock of birds desperate to take flight before a predator caught them. Some looked to gather last minute supplies before their hasty retreat, while others simply ran back to their respective crews and ships. Meanwhile the locals began closing up shop, running home and pulling their shutters on their windows. They would've prepared for such an eventuality and likely wouldn't want to get involved in the matters of pirates and marines, Wil figured.

Taking a moments pause upon a rooftop, Wil sat over the edge with a contrasting calm. He had to weigh his options. Truthfully he didn't feel as though he were in any immediate trouble. He could always return inland to the jungle and wait this whole thing out quite easily. But... no- if he wanted to sit in a jungle for a week he could've done that before even embarking the seas! His young blood called for new places, excitement and adventure. And so his mind was set.
"Time to go."

Reaching down into a pocket he felt his coin pouch and judged it would be enough to pay for passage on any of the leaving ships. But were there any pirates accepting passengers? As fate would have it, his question would be answered by a tough looking pirate with blonde hair. Upon further inspection his swords gave him away as swordsmen. 'Interesting, lets take a look at what we have here'. It would seem the captain was forced to find members to join his crew before disembarking. Wil began to stalk the captain from nearby rooftops. After all, Wil was not a guy for typical introductions. He took his time to follow and build an impression of the captain before opting to present himself.

Xiao was truly a dependable panda. He was wise, well trained, knowledgeable, and willing to fight and protect his comerades. Too bad he slept too much. Seriously, he was only active at most 7 hours a day. He initially wanted to tell Sora about the 3 million berry that he wanted to offer as emergency savings, but the many events that unfolded got him distracted...and tired. So he went to sleep, inside the Lucky Nova.

It was also too bad that he was a really heavy sleeper. There were very few things that would be able to wake Xiao up, and the explosive sound of a cannon ball was not one of them. He had a nice dreamin which he relaxed near a waterfall, observing the beauty of nature as he ate bamboo sticks and drank beer. It was all nice, until a jester appeared out of nowhere and walked towards Xiao with a monocycle in his hand. He wanted to give it to Xiao as a present but...

"Don't offer me things while picking your nose and playing with the snooorrrrtttttt!"

Xiao woke up and started breathing heavily. "Just a dream, just a dream, it was just a dream" as he calmed himself down, he got up and went towards the deck. He looked around carefully, searching for his companions, unaware of what was going on.

Cait Merlin

A small frown appeared on Cait's face as Elijah spoke his "true shipwright" line. It was true that she wasn't a shipwright and wasn't as obsessive over ships as Elijah was, but that didn't automatically mean that she doesn't recognize the beauty of ships at all. As a fisherman's daughter she was taught to rely on her ship like a crewmate in order to get the job done. "It doesn't matter if you are a marine, pirate, fisherman, merchant, or sailor, your ship should always be treated like a member of the crew. Out on the sea, mankind and ship have a special give and take relationship. If you take care of your ship right, she'll take care of you. I'm livin' proof; this ol' girl helped me meet your mother after all." Cait remembered her dad telling her when she was younger. "But Da, I don't need a ship, I'm part fishman." "True...but a ship will help take care of your human companions for you. We aren't as good at swimming as you are."

"I'm not the Captain, but we do need our ship repaired and you're the shipwright. Work as you see fit," Cait told Elijah, feeling no need to justify herself on her opinion on ships. She turned her attention to Keya, her frown deepened as the dwarf mentioned slavers. Cait reached for the locket around her neck and tightly gripped it. She hoped that her mother was on Fishman Island and not somewhere else as a slave. Thinking about slavery, Cait silently wondered how much she was worth on the slave market. Would it be more than a fishman because a hybrid was even rarer, or would it be less because of her human traits?

Cait's train of thought was interrupted when she heard Xiao coming up the stairs. She loosened her grip on her locket and lowered her arm back to her side. "Mornin' Xiao," Cait said with a warm smile. "Captain Sora and Ren are out getting last minute supplies before some big ships attack," she added, catching the panda up on recent events. "And this is Keya, consider her an unofficial crew member until the Captain makes it official."

NPC Notes

Location: Market

Age: 12

Gender: Female

Abigail’s attention turned hard and fast when she heard her name shouted out and the girl found herself practically leaping at Kyoko when she saw her friend. The embrace didn’t last long because Abigail felt like she was obligated to do something, but she still wasn’t sure what that something was. It was slowly eating away at her as she thought about it.

“Yeah, I heard it. It scared me,” she admitted.

Something else Kyoko said seemed to be heard more, though.
“Get… get out of this place?” Abigail seemed entirely confused by that statement and then she slowly shook her head. “I… I don’t know if that’s possible… I saw them. I saw them as we came into port…” Terror gripped at her from every side as her attention turned to the people running towards the docks, every one of them seeming to think that if they left the island now, they would avoid the incoming marines.

“They’re all going the wrong way. They’re going to run right into them… there’s a wall of them.” Abigail said it as though she had seen it herself. That was, in fact, because she had.

Some other fear gripped her then as well.
“And if we go to the docks, he’ll see me and he’ll catch me. He sent her after me because I took this,” she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small notebook - a ship’s log. “There… there is no escape.” In that moment, Abigail seemed to feel a sense of defeat. She’d realized her fate was either to return to her former captor or try to escape and fall into the hands of the marines. “What do the marines do to the cabin girl of a cruel man?” She wasn’t even sure she wanted to hear the answer.

Scarlet Johanna Indigrid

Scarlet could not contain her delight when Rena decided to join her crew. In fact, the captain went so far as to actually bounce as the smile blossomed on her face. Scarlet turned and acknowledged Ferra’s comment to Rena, adding in, “She’s on my crew now. I won’t let her die.” Although part of Scarlet’s mind knew that Ferra’s comment may not have been entirely serious, she also knew that it was important for her as a captain to take responsibility for the people in her crew and she had every intention of doing so.

Turning to Rena again, she extended her hand to her new crewmate, hoping Rena would take it.
“I honestly don’t think I ever got your name,” Scarlet began. “I’m Captain Scarlet Johanna Indigrid.” A subtle flicker ticked in the back of her mind letting Scarlet know that she might have introduced herself once already, but her excitement was such that repeating herself didn’t seem like a terrible thing to get wrong. “I think you’re going to like being on our crew.”

Her eyes turned briefly towards the approaching marine ships as her gaze became weary.
“I think we should get going soon, though,” she added in. “Charybdis doesn’t need to end up like that other ship.”

Swiftly, she turned and called to Jasper, even though he really wasn’t far away.
“Jasper, we should probably head back!”

Turning on her heels, she started walking although it wasn’t fast enough that her crewmates would be unable to catch up.

Scarlet Johanna Indigird and Jasper Pharos

Jasper fell into step alongside Lady Scarlet as she began walking away. "Lady Scarlet, if you would care to listen I have a plan to propose. My associate and I came up with it when considering what we might do about those Marine ships."

Scarlet continued walking as Jasper spoke, but she nodded to show that she heard him and she also chuckled at his use of the word associate. "You sound so formal, Jasper," she remarked swiftly. "Go ahead, though. I'm listening."

Jasper perked up a little when she said he sounded formal. "Thank you Lady Scarlet, I try. My associate is an ex-Captain in the Marines herself. We believe that the three ships we can see are just the landing party. That there are ships out in the distance waiting to capture those who flee. We believe that if our crew and hers join together we can create mass confusion amongst those trying to land."

"Ferra and I can deal with the large ship while our crew's deal with the other two. Then we tell the pirates if the island to go while they can. We escape in the confusion if the Marines are trying to capture all the bigger named pirates. What do you think?"

Scarlet seemed slightly startled for a moment. "You... you want to take on a whole ship by yourself?" Of course, she knew that he'd said it would be both him and Ferra, but it still concerned her. "I mean... can't you drag a few more people with you?"

In that moment, Scarlet actually stopped walking and looked to Jasper. "You were the first person on my crew, Jasper... you're my first mate." It was the first time she'd officially given him such a title.

It was quite possible that some of her concern was actually warranted. Scarlet had never actually seen Jasper fight so she didn't know what he could actually do. "You could take Arlen and... Cletus?"

Jasper blinked in surprise. First mate? He honestly had not expected such a title. "I am quite honored that you trust me enough to have me as your first mate, Lady Scarlet. Your concern is quite flattering, but I assure you the two of us should be sufficient. We are both Captain level in ability after all. Most Captain's are capable of dealing with the first half of the Grand Line."

"Besides that... well Ferra is rather... wild in combat style last I saw. I myself am prone to such when the one I serve allows me to let loose, or should situations devolve to a certain degree. I feel no one aboard that craft should be threatening to two separate Captain's. Those of such a level are likely out with the ships surrounding the island. The plan is not to even bother fighting those."

He tried for a reassuring smile and bodily language. Standing straight and confident, his hands folded behind his back. "Should there be need for others we will say so, you have my word on that."

Scarlet's head turned to the ground as she considered and also as she started walking again. "Well... ok. I guess... Charybdis will be right there if you need us though," she added in.

Jasper followed behind her, visibly pleased. "I would not have it any other way."

Rena beamed at the excitement and enthusiasm shown by her new Captain. She smiled broadly and genuinely as she took her hand and shook firmly. "Cool!" she said, "I think I'll like it with you guys too!"

As she listened to the plan being laid out, she looked at Jasper and echoed Scarlet's words. "It....does seem like a bit of a suicide mission. Not to belittle your abilities - I don't even know what they are - but there will be a lot of people on that ship. With guns. And swords and many other instruments of death." She said but then looked into the eyes of the pair. Quiet confidence and an unwavering will. "Though, I have seen some ridiculous feats today so perhaps your ability is to be able to kill others with a glance...." She immediately found herself averting her eyes from Jasper.

"But if you'd wanted to, you'd have done that by now I suppose." she mumbled and exhaled sharply. "I'll....just concentrate on steering the ship." She looked gratefully at Scarlet as her name didn't come up to be volunteered to board the marine ship. Had she asked, she would have, though tightly wound around Jasper's leg (as humiliating as it was to admit, it was probably a fair representation of what her actions would be).

"Well, good luck! Do...you want some of my grenades? I have a couple left and I'll make some more when we are at sea. If you aren't successful...well, I probably won't need to be making any more." she laughed nervously and perhaps for a second too long. Lordy, she was going to have to get used to violence pretty quick.

Syrin Insinu

Syrin shook his head in the negative at Stacy's question on whether he had seen the third of their little group, though he was absently pleased that she had something to protect herself if need be. "Unfortunately not. I've been down here for a bit and I've yet to see him come down. Unless he got up earlier than me, or left in the middle of the night, then I don't truly know where he could be." He scowls and tightens his grip on his dagger. "We can't stay here forever. No matter how much I wish for it to be not true, that noise was likely to be Marines. And while I would love nothing more than to slit their collective throats, right now safety is my top priority." He neglects to mention that it was her safety that was his top priority. Taking a deep breath, Syrin closed his eyes and rubbed over his tattoo once more. "I'll give him five more minutes. After that, we're leaving. Either way, he seems intelligent and capable enough to take care of himself." That said, he kept his eyes closed and began to collect his thoughts on how to escape the island without running into too many Marines.

His thoughts were soon interrupted as Kenji burst through the inn and told them what was going outside, as well as offered the two of them a place on his ship, though Syrin knew the invitation was mainly geared towards Stacy, as he had made his position towards Kenji and his crew abundantly clear. Scowling as the man left, he rubbed the bridge of his nose with one hand. "I knew it was going to be Marines, and I'm still upset that it's true. I'll be completely honest with you Stacy. I'd rather travel through Sea King infested waters on a leaky dingy than join his crew and travel on his ship. But..." Here he sighs tiredly. "He's quite literally the safest option for you right now. I won't make any decisions for you, but if you so desire, I'll lead you to his ship and ensure that you get off the island. I'll likely grab a ride with a departing merchant vessel, or maybe take over one of the ships owned by some small pirate crew then ditch it after a bit." He shrugs helplessly and fiddles with his dagger. "It's not ideal, but it's the best idea I've got. Unless, of course, you have a better plan in mind." And he truly did hope she did have a better plan than his. He'd rather not leave her with the idiots that was Kenji's crew, but he knew it'd take a miracle for him to not attack them after a certain period of staying with them.

Sora Z. Lachance

Walking down the back alleys were proving to be useless to Sora in so many ways. First there was no way in hell he would find any navigator here. Second it was hard to get his baring right with all the alleys and he had already gone in a circle once. Finally it was wasting his time. Something he couldn't afford to do anymore and he fully understood that. The ship that was leaving which got blown to bits was plenty of warning. He and his crew needed to leave, but it would be risky to go without a navigator of decent skill. He had a feeling he wouldn't just need the navigator to figure out how to get to island to island but to make their escape as well. Eating the last of his noodles he tossed the bowl in a near by trash and looked around while Albi curled around his neck.

Moving over to a building he kept his head up as he placed his hands in his pocket his mind in deep thought. 'If we left even with the flag down we would draw immediate suspicion after all an innocent person wouldn't need to run. My ship is fast but those ships, they have enough fire power to blow her up without blinking an eye.' He thought now leaning against the wall of a building as he closed his eyes. 'I need a plan, but it would require a navigator, any that are good are probably gone. Those for hire might do a worse job then me. I need someone that knows what they are doing, and have a taste for adventure as well as danger.' Taking a calming breath he looked up at the sky as the wind blew his hair out of his eyes and slightly cooled him off. "The battle will be happening soon, that ship is going to be getting very close in a matter of minutes if I calculated the time frame right. How to get someone that skilled in that short of time...." He mumbled as he looked around at the people. "This won't be easy, but hell... I didn't sign up to be a pirate so I could have an easy life. Better hurry the crew is going to need me if the party starts soon. Lets find us a navigator~ Are you up for it Albi?" Now looking toward his neck he heard the small creature let out a purr as it stood up a bit before climbing down.

Now sitting on the ground Albi sniffed the air a bit and walked in one direction for a bit before walking in another as she kept smelling the air trying to find the source of the aroma. "Hm? What is it find something you like?" Sora asked as he kneeled down while keeping his eyes on the small mink. Albi sniffed the air a bit more before suddenly bolting off. "..............Annnnd here we go again." Sora let out a sigh and got up. Putting his hands in the air he did a very good and much needed stretch before he bolted off right after the mink. It wasn't hard for him to catch up as the streets in this part were pretty clear many had left the area to see the commotion from the explosion earlier while others believed today was the best day to stay home.

Taking a sharp turn Albi made a beeline right for a certain building. Noticing this Sora raised a brow as he looked where his mink was running to. "An inn? What's so great about this place?" He asked before he decided to sniff the air. ".....The noodles again...." A sigh left his lips. At first Albi couldn't get in but then a man opened the door to leave and when he did she entered. Shortly followed by Sora. Sniffing the air more the small white fur ball headed to the counter and was about to try and nab the nearest bowl of noodles but before she could Sora lifted her up in his arms. "We've been over this. You can't have any for a bit longer, you are going to get yourself sick." He said with a light laugh as Albi looked up at him before she looked away pouting.

"I know I know life is harsh. You'll get over it." Sora stated in a joking tone as he looked around the inn which wasn't really booming in business. Something Sora was thankful for. Deciding to take a quick breather he let Albi climb back onto his shoulder and rest there as he adjusted his dagger on his hip that had moved out of place as well as his pole on his back. Letting out a sigh once this was fixed he started to scratch the side of his head as he went into think mode again. As he did this an idea came to him and he went to the barkeeper of the inn and leaned against the counter. "You my good man. This inn is decently known correct? You get visitors often from all over?"

"Ai, what's it to ya? Are you seeking a room? If so we got som for ya and your white rat." The barkeeper said as he cleaned one of the glasses.

"Not a rat. And no, I'm curious however about your costumers. Do you know anyone around here that is a navigator? Now before you offer some random fool I really don't have time to barter and enjoy myself. I'm talking about a navigator that won't let the ship sink the moment they are in a storm someone that can actually get their crew where they need to go."

"Aint that all them navigators do. Job is ta get ship from one dock to the other."

"No, that's what the average navigator does. I'm talking about someone who's not doing it just for the money. But doing it because its in their blood. Someone that doesn't cower like a sniveling girl when a hurricane comes but is grinning at the challenge. Have you seen someone like that. Or at least a little like it?"

"Can't help ya there. Been listening to the chatter, and no one talking about a navigator like that." The Bartender said as he now grabbed another glass to clean.

Letting out a sigh Sora ran his hand through his hair. "Fine, looks like I'll be facing a problem then. If by any chance you happen to learn of someone like that do me a favor an-"

"Oi oi, wait a minute here. I aint just going to be doing favors for a guy that's lookin for a navigator! You going ta leave before you repay me a dime."

"If you would let me finish."
Sora said with a sigh as he pulled out a ruby that he had gotten from the brat that blew up his ship. Sure this was meant to be pay for the people working on his ship. But meh, he'll figure out something for them later. "This is yours all you have to do the moment you hear of someone like that. Send them to the Lucky Nova, its at the dock on the north port. The ship herself is easy to spot as its probably the most beautiful and effective ship there. Tell them to ask for Captain Sora. Deal?"

"Is that real?"

"100%"

With that the bartender snatched the ruby and pocketed it. "Deal, pleasure doing business with ya sir."

"Pleasure was all mine, and do try to keep your end of the deal be a bit of a pain for both of us if you didn't" Sora gave the man a small smile as he rested his forearm on his dagger. A movement that went fully noticed by the man who simply gave a stiff nod. With that conversation over with Sora walked right by two people sitting down and didn't pay much heed to them as he needed to get a move on. Rolling his neck once and once again adjusting his dagger he left the inn and when he did he bolted off heading right for the Lucky Nova. He had wasted enough time, now he needed to get his crew together check on his ship and get the hell out before too much shit hit the fan.

The eyes of the man were still unseen by both of the men that were on the ship looking up at him thanks to the hood that covered the top part of his face. However that smirk of his was something that wasn't leaving any time soon. "Friend? Well I think I can go into that category. I mean I went out of my way to save this suicidal man~ So I think we are friends." He hummed as he leaned against the steering wheel. "Are you a buddy of this man? Got to say you should keep an eye on him, might got to tie his hands behind him or something because he was about to do something very stupid. Even by human standers." A light chuckle left the guy as he looked over his shoulder at the incoming ships.

"Sending this ship at them, gods the boy must have been dropped on the head a few times." Now turning to look back at the other he looked at them for a moment in silence before his smirk turned to a devious grin. "Don't need to tense I'm not going to attack unless you of course come after me~ Anyway, I just got an idea, I bet suicidal boy here wanted to see an explosion. So being the kind man I am I'll give you a chance to see a very nice one up close if you want~" As he said this he moved back a bit and gripped the steering wheel for a second only to suddenly push down on it to cause it to spin. With another hard turn the merchant ship wasn't just heading out to see, it was now heading right back to the harbor. "I think you and your buddy should stay~ We could have a nice chat, and after a bit you can see some interesting and fun chaos with the perfect front row seats." Now leaning against the steering wheel once again he looked at the two watching their every movement waiting to see what they would do as the ship now headed straight toward the port...and it was on a crash course for another ship some distance away.

KYOKO RINNE

Kyoko thinking that Abigail would shake off her concerns, but in spite of what the situation was unfolding, Kyo noticed her discomfiture. Something was lingering in her mind as she uttered about seeing "them", going the wrong way, a wall of them, "them"... "them"... It echoed in her head as she started to ponder who these figures were that seemed to have put Abby in her place and became more and more curious about her past life.

Though Kyo said she wouldn't question Abby about her past life- that curiosity was filling her head, beckoning Kyo to pounce upon the past that Abigail wanted hide away from. Something she didn't want to look back at, yet it was luring her to ask for the sake of satisfaction but before Kyoko could speak, Abigail soon yielded what seemed to be a notebook of some kind.

"So these, "people", are after this notebook?" Kyo nervously asked Abby.

She almost sounded hysterical now, saying there was no escape and wondering what would they do to her -Abigail holding onto the book as she looked like she was on the brink of a breakdown-, "Hey hey! Abby! Get a hold of yourself!" Kyoko literally bending down on one knee to meet eye to eye to Abigail as she griped onto both of her shoulders, "Look. It seems to me, that I have some questions that need to be answered and you're the only one who can tell me these things. You probably have some bottled up feelings that you wanna get out as well... But I won't pursuit you immediately. For now, one thing is for sure, is to not be so hopeless, no one is going to get you unless they notice you, right? You seem like a pretty stealthy person. And you got me, right? So that's like a bonus right off bat, ya know?" Kyo trying to give some kind of foothold for both of them- she didn't expect to be this moving with her words even with those who she just met, but it seems there was more to it than meets the eye.

Kyo then slowly released her grip on Abby and breathed for a couple of seconds before speaking again,"Tell me, Abby... On why we shouldn't go to the port... Who these people are, that are chasing you... And this notebook. Tell me why it is so important that they would send these agents after you because of it? Three questions. That's all I'm asking for now. If you can give me a clear answer- enough to know what you're trying to say me- then I'll know what I'm dealing with and there will be a better understanding between us, ya know?" The timing could be right, it could be wrong but Kyoko had to get some answers that were pending her to ask about.

A Landing in Mirstone

The Orders

Standing in front of the ship's helm, Commander Evelyn Torack's voice echoed across the deck of the ship while it would also play on board the two sister vessels behind it. "Marines! We are all here for one purpose and one purpose only. There are pirates on that island, pirates who deliberately break the law and are to be brought to justice. Now is the time to prepare to fight for that law we stand for. Now is the time for us to land and drive them further towards the captivity that awaits those who break the law," she yelled out. Her words were loud and solidified in belief.

"Upon our landing, we will split into two groups. One group will accompany Robin as he heads to the center of the island. Those of you in that group know who you are. The rest are with me. We're in the offensive party. Keep your eyes open for high level targets so that we can alert higher command to watch for them," she continued, trying to keep her orders simple and the review of the plan plain. "Keep in mind that this is an island with potential civilians. Casualties are to be kept to a minimum per direct order!"

Upon those final words, a brief chuckle echoed in the corner of the ship from Robin himself. The demonlitionist seemed amused.

Commander Torack took no notice. "Keep your wits about you as we enter this final stage. Good luck!" Her attention turned then from the marines she'd been speaking to the marines actually running the ship. "Bring the ship to a landing."

Zargo and Melissa

"Yes, ,ma'am!" rang two voices in particular. Zargo and Melissa relaxed somewhat from their stiff salute as they set about preparing to land. This was to be their first major Marine deployment and their excitement and nervousness was visible in their movements.

Zargo made sure his scimitar was properly strapped to his back for what had to be the fourth time in as many minutes. Stretching his paws, he checked to make sure each individual claw was looking sharp and ready to go. "Welp I don't know about you Melissa, but I am good. To. Go." He feigned a few quick claw strikes in front of himself as if striking an opponent. He tossed a furtive glance behind to his bestie and partner Melissa.

She was calmly stretching and rolling her fingers and knuckles. She pulled at the swimsuit that was just about the only thing she usually wore aside from standard Marine attire. "Me? I was ready way before you, furball. Are you sure your ready? Don't want your mommy to be disappoooointed." She laughed, a bubble or two escaping her lips as she did.

Zargo seemed to deflate in an instant. "Shhh. No one's supposed to know about that! Do you know how embarrassing it is to have your MOM leading you in a deploymemt?! Plus, when I do something awesome people will just say it's a rumor I had my mom spread! I can't have that!"

Melissa blew a bubble or two more as she snickered at Zargo. "Yeah yeah, don't worry. No one is gonna hear me blab your secret. Dunno what you're so embarrassed about anyway. Your mom is frickin cool." She moved to stand near Zargo, the sun reflecting oddly off her pink skin. "Anyways, you better be prepared to get passed up. Cause after today I'll be above you in Rank for sure!" She slugged him on the shoulder in jest.

He feigned injury, although it did hurt to some degree, and turned away from Melissa. His face turned thoughtful as he looked at the encroaching island. He had an odd feeling things were gonna be extra crazy today. However that just meant more opportunities to show his skills. He'd fly up the ranks in no time. 'He'll be proud for sure. I just know it.'

The Twins

After giving their salute the twins were leaning on the banister of the starboard side of the ship. Well Derek was Markus on the other hand was bouncing/walking all around Derek as he grinned broadly. "Yesh! We get a big mission finally this time without a doubt we'll round up more pirates than ever before! Those dasterly men and woman will fear us the moment we find a group and bring them! If we get lucky they might just surrender to us~ That would be just great even better we could take out some big names! I heard there were a ton of bounties on the island I'm going to take down everyone we see!" With this declaration he stopped moving placed his hands on his hips and struck a heroic pose as the sunbeam hit the particular spot he was standing in making him glimmer. He stood there with a grin on his face and one foot tapping agianst the wood non stop.

Derek turned his head and looked at Markus for a long moment. "....Assuming..... We find anyone... Could just run into dead ends... Again."

At this Markus stopped with his heroic pose and looked at Derek. "Hey! One time! Thats all it was and the guy said take two lefts and a right to find the baddies not my fault they escaped!"

".....Two times... And the man was lying... He was the leader of the pirate group we were after...."

"Eh?! No he swore he wasn't! And he was the unfortunate twin of the real pirate! There's no way that guy was lying!"

Derek looked at his brother a few times and then looked in front of him again. "He was....though." He mumbled now, resting his chin on the banister. "But this time.... W-"

"E won't let anyone get by us. These pirates are a threat, and its our job to protect the civilians from these selfish men and women!"

"..........Right..... Can I take a nap?"

"We are going to be there soon, has to be a quick one."

"Thanks..." And with that the quiet twin closed his eyes and started to fall asleep. He kept leaning against the banister, while his brother was still walking/jumping all around him.

Riza Muramasa and Nami Fujimoto

Riza sat at the bow of the ship with her staff laid against her shoulder. "The Tension is killing me... Are we there yet?" Riza said as she took out a fan and began to fan herself down from the heat.

"Nope, but we are close," said Nami as she peeked up over the railing of the boat. Riza jumped up from the position where she was sat.

"Nami! What are you doing on the side of the ship?!?!?" Riza exclaimed pointing her fan at Nami.

"Hehe, Just felt like giving you a little scare," she said jumping over the railing and back onto the deck of the boat.

Riza readjusted her bikini top a little and Nami began to dust herself off. "So Whats up?" Nami asked leaning towards Riza a little.

Riza just shook her head a little bit, "What do you think? We are on a boat, and we are hunting pirates. Thats whats up," Riza said sarcastically.

"Hmmm, I don't like your additude problems Missy" Nami said putting on a grumpy face.

"Hey I'm your commander dont speak back to me," Riza said.

"Your only a lieutenant commander!" Nami shouted back.

"Thats still two ranks higher than you!" Riza exclaimed.

"Fine you win... I need to get ready anyways." Nami said as she walked away from Riza, turning her head to stick her tongue out at her once more before going and preparing for battle.

A Landing

"Into your groups! Now!" Commander Torack snapped the order again as the ship drew closer to the docks. She was quite surprised that the ship encountered no resistance as it made landing, but that could have had something to do with the fact that everyone was too busy trying to escape and she had no intentions of stopping them. That wasn't her job.

Marines stormed off the ship once stepping onto dry land was possible. Commander Torack followed closely at their heels and behind her was one more - Lieutenant Robin Linwade. He walked as though everyone who stood in front of him should bow at his feet although the commander didn't seem at all phased. "You know your orders, Lieutenant?"

"Of course, Commander! This is gonna be fun!"

Without a moment's hesitation, Robin turned to the group that would be his "escort" of sorts. He carried a rather large bag over his shoulder and wore a backpack that appeared to be filled as full as it could be while still maintaining a sealable state. "Time to move!" As their group started moving, it became clear that Robin's crew was the smaller of the two parties.

Commander Torack watched as they headed inland and then she turned her attention to the lines of the shore as pirates ran past on either end of her party. The two ships that had been shadowing her own came to land as well, taking in spots that had been occupied by some of the first ships to flee. Her eyes were looking for a very specific individual, though, and it was only after a few more moments with her head on an active swivel that she found him. "Captain!" Commander Evelyn Torack called out, trying to get Captain Sellick Havrick's attention as she found him waiting.

Sellick and Damian made their way down the docks towards Commander Torack. They had commandeered a pirate ship to covertly wait for the Marines to land. So having seen them arrive they had disembarked. He halted with his hand folded at the small of his back, masked eyes looking directly at the Commander. "Commander Torack, status report."

It took a moment for the commander to realize her proper place at which point her hand swiftly rose to her forehead in a formal salute. "Yes, Captain!" Her voice maintained a highly official tone throughout.

"We've been asked to split off into two parties. Lieutenant Linwade took an escort towards the center of the island and they'll work their way out to the edges, chasing any stragglers towards us. Our job is to locate high level targets and procure as many as we can. A larger fleet surrounds further offshore. Anyone who we are unable to catch should fall straight into their hands." She tried to explain the plan in the simplest terms while simultaneously staying alert to anyone who may have been listening in, particularly for anyone who wasn't supposed to be hearing her.

Damian leaned down to speak into Sellicks ear. "Brother. This must be what our crew was called upon for by the Rear Admiral."

Sellick made no verbal reaction of his brothers words. Instead he only nodded. "Commander, did the Rear Admiral have any special orders beyond this? Perhaps a special target whose high priority?"

"The Rear Admiral was specific that we are to minimize civilian casualties at any cost. However, I believe we are meant to herd targets towards the fleet and let them seek specific targets rather than devoting too much time to any one target," Evelyn carefully explained her thoughts.

Sellick nodded. "Very well, while we herd them please remain wary. There appears to be at least one rogue Captain on this island. Feral Ferra McKlinnen is on the island, and I doubt she's the only one. Should someone sight her or an equally powered target, please contact me by den den mushi immediately."

Evelyn nodded. "I will pass that along, Captain."

Sellick took a deep breath and looked at as many of the Marines there as he could. Many of them might not live through this attack. He was going to make sure as many as possible did. "Alright, let's move Commander."

Piss poor timing.

That's all it was. All it had ever been. Kicking the ball into the woods as the troupe went by. Walking into the kitchen when Tomas had returned. Trying to commit suicide by sea right as one of the only Marine craft that wouldn't return her to her masters sailed by. Attempting suicide one the one ship Jasper decided to join her on as well.

And now here she was, actually trying to stay out of trouble, and not but a score of metres away were Marines moving up the docs and trying to push into the town of Mirstone. At least the world was consistent. Watching as they moved in, Ferra quickly set about watching their first bout of resistors, and was less than surprised to find it was a sister pair of slavers pirate crews. She wasn't necessarily surprised to see them either. With how lucrative being a slaver was, from a financial aspect it was an understandable career option. Of course she hated people that chose lucrative career options over proper ethics so she wouldn't be sad to see them gone. Though she wouldn't be happy if she wasn't going to have a hand in it, and it seemed that the Marines taking point didn't realise they were about to chase a handful of the slavers into an ambush.

Starting off at a good clip, Ferra pulled her rifle up to her shoulder as she ran and started making adjustments to her pace and step as well as her grip as she took steady aim at one of the bait slavers. Exhaling coolly as her finger easily drew back and her rifle barrel pulled up from the recoil, she smirked widely as the pirate dropped and his trailing three compatriots pulled up short, doing their best to discern where the shot came from. Reloading in a single smooth movement Ferra had a second shot off that sent the remaining pair scattering for their reinforcements, and Ferra grinned wolfishly as the trap was sprung early and the Marines pulled up short from being caught up in it. Even then, however, she noticed the Marines seemed to be trying to move up in lines, which was standard for ship to ship combat or drills, but trash for street combat like this. Furthermore, as the trap was sprung cargo was knocked down to cut off the frontlines of the group from the rest of those on the docks.

Clearing her final steps to reach the group, she plowed into the group of Marines, pulling and pushing them in different directions toward the cargo being held at the side of the dock and the fronts of the buildings.

"This isn't training soldiers!" she barked roughly as she ensured each of the score of Marines found cover before turning to fire a round towards the slavers, "You will move cover to cover her. Forget the regimented sea-bullshit they try to teach you, pirates won't use it. They'll trap you, and they'll bring you down. Watch each other's backs, take turns moving up!"

As she spoke she drew her sabre to easily dispatch a pair of slavers that came out from between boxes to charge her, putting them down with a skillful flourish that made it all too clear to anyone watching that she clearly had some form of officers training. With that many of the twenty odd Marines she encountered seemed to fall in line as the skirmish continued, but there was a tell tale cocking behind Ferra that told her someone recognised her.

"Y... you... you're the Feral Captain!"

Not even flinching, Ferra turned and knocked the rifle from th man's grasp, causing him to stumble out of cover and into the street. Knowing he'd get killed there, Ferra stepped out and grabbed the front of his shirt, not even flinching as a poorly aim pirate's round ricocheted off the Recompense wrapped around her torso. With a rough push she had the Marine back in cover before grabbing his rifle and shoving it into his hands.

"Aye, that's me, the fearsome Feral McKlinnen! Get over it! Marines, the men you face are scum of the earth, as were the Marines I killed. So unless anyone here wants to admit to being scum, lay down covering fire and help me clean up the streets of Mirstone. No one wants these pirates here, myself included, so either lock and load, buckle down and deal with them, or run away and go fetch your commanding officer like a girl off to hide behind her mother's skirt! So either use your rifle and do your job whule protecting your comrades and brothers in arms, or run away like a child."

Stepping back out of cover and shrugging the ends of the Blackheart's Recompense into her grasp, Ferra lunged past the front lines of the Marines in the streets and began her assault. Throwing her right extension skillfully, it curved around a barrel and earned a howl of agony as it bit into a pirate hiding there. Pulling back, her left went forth next and wrapped around the neck of a pirate trying to fall back. A simple jerk and tug snapped the neck of her quarry and loosened the Recompense from it's hold and brought it back to her hands. There was a shout to her left as a pirate she hadn't noticed rsn out with a boat hook, but a sharp retort broke out as he dropped, and when Ferra looked back she saw it was the Marine she'd just finished berating. Giving a nod of solidarity, she motioned forward and continued down the street.

Any slaver of the crew she didn't kill or she dragged out of hiding was met with a fusillade of precise rifle fire as she led the small group to the front of a small warehouse where they'd holed up, and it didn't take more than a few minutes for her to clear it out. Walking back out to the Marine's she taken temporary command of she nodded authoritatively at them, giving them a single glimpse of a proud grin before her face got serious again.

"Congratulations, you just helped me take down a pair of crews that specialise in kidnapping and enslaving children. If it weren't the bounty I likely have and the fact that the Marines would love to see me in chains, I'd recommend each of you for a promotion. And you," she spoke, gesturing to the Marine she'd briefly confronted, "I suppose thanks are in order for not shooting me in the back, but the truth is if you'd done that I would have killed you. Regardless, it was good working with Marines again. Now I need a den den mushi."

A few moments later Ferra found herself with one of the snails in her hand. Taking a moment to think over what she was about to do, she briefly grumbled to herself about how life used to be so much simpler before activating it.

"This is Captain Buchelidge. I took temporary command of the score of Marines cut off from your dock force. They served well and aided in taking down two crews of pirates, and should be commended for making the right call in a tough situation. The Corriander's Lumber Warehouse has been secured in case any need of a command centre is needed, and if there is a Commander Damien and his Captain brother out there, provided things can be civil I have information I've gathered in the past few days about some of the crews here in Mirstone that you may be interested in."

Kaito

"Just as I was about to jump off the ship and head back into shore too" Kaito said as he looked at the man he assumed was a marine. "Look fellow, If you're going to get in my way I'm going to have to kill you. Marines like you took my arm and everyone I ever knew away just because I can read Poneglyphs, so I get in a pretty foul mood when it comes to Marines" Kaito said as he took his guns from his holsters. The man turned the wheel then and the ship begun to go off course. "Well now you got me pissed" said Kaito. But before he got a chance to do anything another man came aboard. "Hey you were aboard the Charybdis last night right... This man is no friend of mine, but rather another one of them shitty Marines" He said. He listened to the marine talk about him being suicidal and he got pissed. "I'm not suicidal you ass!" he said shoot his gun, a bullet passed by the mans head. "That's when the man began to turn the ship around. "Shit, the ship is going towards port" He said and turned around towards the water. "Sorry about this, just hold your breath for a while" he said and gave Arlen a hard shove over the Sterns railing. He twisted his body to face the ship and just as he was about to hit the water he shoot off his gun and hit a barrel of gun powder on the stern of the ship.

William

William Walked through the streets of Mirstone buying ammunition and all the stuff they may need for the trip to the grandline, using mostly his own pocket money. He walked through the streets carrying bags around with him. then out of the corner of his eye he spotted his captain looking for people to join their small crew that consisted of currently four members. He walked up to his captain, "Ahoy, Captian!" He said. "I see you've been looking for more people to join our crew. That's great! By the way I think I made up a song, it goes like this me hearties: Oh my name is Doctor Kidd as I sailed as I sailed, oh my name is Doctor Kidd as I sailed... Has a nice ring to it. By the way is that man up there who has been following you a new crew member" William asked.

Scarlet Johanna Indigrid and Cletus T. Bass

Scarlet was content with the pace her little trio of mates was moving at and there was nothing that was going to make her change her mind. Well, perhaps a marine invasion would make her change her mind, but by the time that had happened, they were already nearly back to Charybdis anyway so Scarlet had no real reason to speed the group up to any significant degree.

Her attention was drawn there, though. They kind of made an impression as they landed so it was hard to keep her eyes focused on anything else. It was for this reason that she eventually wound up leaning against the side of her own ship, watching with a novel curiosity. "Do you think they'll know we're pirates?" she wondered out loud although she didn't quite know who she was talking to because she wasn't sure if Jasper and Rena were still beside her or not. Her attention was completely consumed.

Cletus hadn't been aware of Scarlet's return until he heard her voice coming from beside the ship. He walked over the the railing and looked down at her from the ship's deck. "If they haven't noticed our flag by now, they're probably going to assume that we're pirates," he said as he smoked. "Right now Nerissa is trying to stall the marines from attacting us by playin' hostage."

Scarlet's head turned as she heard her shipwright speaking. Her eyebrow raised as her attention returned to her own control and she climbed aboard her ship. "Huh? Hostage? But she's not a hostage... she's a friend and a guest," Scarlet objected, not quite fully getting the point of whatever was going on.

"That's why I said playin'," Cletus grumbled. "I figured if the marines thought that a civillian was on board that they'd leave us alone a little longer and she volunteered." He paused to take another drag on his cigarette. "Jasper and the new recruit wouldn't happen to be with ya, would they? Everyone else is accounted for, though Kaito's out there pullin' a stunt and Arlen's savin' his hide."

"Hmm..." Scarlet hummed as she thought. 'So this is what happens when Cletus is in charge... I wonder what will happen when I get to be in charge...' Of course, that thought remained in her head for a moment before her head swiveled rapidly to search for her comrads.

"They should be here," she answered quickly, "although Jasper was going to go... fight... the marine ship.. which just landed... HEY JASPER! How is that going to work now!?" Scarlet didn't know if she was just blind or if he'd pulled a fast one on her, but she figured if she yelled loud enough, he would hear her anyway.

"Change of plans, huh?" Cletus asked gruffly, not sounding happy (which was normal for him). "Of course there's a change in plans...," he muttered to himself.

"Nerissa, Skorrig, put the rope on standby. Sounds like Jasper and the Captain have other plans," he ordered, sounding like a captain even though the Captain had just returned.

Scarlet hesitated. "Well, I dunno. It doesn't make much sense for Jasper to attack a ship that has nobody on it... or if it does, it seems silly anyway."
