[OPENING ENTRY_011]
In the farthest reaches of the Segmentum Ultima lies a mysterious sector know as the GHOUL STARS. This area of space is mostly comprised of dead worlds in the cold light of dying stars. However, lining the fringes of the border between explored space, lies the planet EUCLID. A cold, hostile planet with rich mineral deposits. The Imperium took immediate advantage of this opportunity. What began as a small mining expedition evolved into a large penal colony with the task of extracting the raw materials. In waning years of the 41st millennium, EUCLID suddenly went dark. No cargo vessels hauled away mountains of material. No lights were seen on the surface, and their factories fell silent.
With several conflicting and outdated reports, an Imperial cruiser, the ARDENT SWORD along with its escorts, was ordered to investigate the anomaly. Within weeks of the fleet's arrival, all contact with the ARDENT SWORD and her subsequent fleet was lost. Fearing an incursion of Xenos or Daemonic origin, the Imperial Inquisition elected to intervene. Commissioned for the task; an Imperial Inquisitor by the name of PYRRHUS and a small flotilla of Imperial ships. Also in tow, a contingent of TEMPESTUS SCIONS(~6,000) under the command of Tempestor Prime ANGELO IOANNIDIS. However, the mission called for a more specialized approach. Thus, the flotilla also houses an entire watch company of DEATHWATCH KILL-TEAMS aboard an Inquisitorial Black Ship. Commanding the battle-brothers of WATCH COMPANY PRIMUS of FORT EXCALIBRIS is Watch Captain MARIUS LYSANDROS.
This operation is highly confidential, and essentially, doesn't exist. Rarely does the DEATHWATCH accrue in such numbers, nor be deployed for such a mission. The existence of a Xenos threat has not been determined, nor properly documented. However, the Inquisition insisted on such an undertaking and declined to provide a thorough explanation.
The secrecy begs one to question...
