The Kingdom of Valia. A lone island in the midst of a thousand treacherous seas. A kingdom of magic, of chivalry. A kingdom of tragedy.

In their secluded villages, scattered across Valia's dense forests, boys and girls would grow up without an inkling of curiosity about life outside the island; for it was long since determined that not even the most powerful of water mages could quell the infamous storms. They might dream of making the almighty pilgrimage to the bustling capital of Aliak, where they could enroll in one of the five Universities of Magic and study the blossoming science of elemental magic. And then they might return, new skills acquired, to a life of tranquil agriculture, knighthood, or other medieval pursuits. Under the reign of the great and popular King Lyram, who ruled like his forefathers on the throne of the Castle of Light, magic was slowly being revolutionised from a heretical practice to a practical, every-day trade to be used in every sector; farming, cooking, construction, cooking. All and many other trades; and so the kingdom was flourishing. 

 

Valia's history was locked in a constant cycle of peace and conflict. For, in the darkest corners of the realm, there hid an evil sect by the name of the Dark Druids. Practitioners of dark magic for many centuries, they had allowed themselves to be consumed by the corruption of their magic, and hence wished pure anarchy upon the nation. Their leader would take the title of 'Shadow King', and time and time again they would lay waste to the kingdom. And time and time again, they would be stopped by the combined strength and bravery of the Valian Knights and Magicians. Only for a new Shadow King to be crowned several years later when a new suitable candidate was found. A reoccurring cycle of chaos and tranquility.

Until, in his youth, Kind Lyram decided to finally put an end to the Dark Druids. With his armies in tow, he scoured the kingdom, uncovering their hideouts and massacring the Druids within, an almighty witch-hunt to purge the island of their evil. There were sacrifices, but it was necessary; as a result, the Kingdom enjoyed forty years of peace, the longest period of freedom ever in recorded history. 

 

A constant cycle of peace and conflict. A cycle even this could not deter. 

 

One fateful night, King Lyram was assassinated in his throne room. And then they rose from the shadows; horrible figures made of pure dark magic, encased in peculiar armor. The Shadow Warriors. There was no running, for they do not grow tired. There was no hiding, for they see all. There was no fighting, because they were simply too strong. And they swept across the entire island, slaughtering the entire innocent population until not a single soul remained. A new Shadow King had emerged, more powerful and ruthless than ever before. 

The kingdom was silent. Silent, but for the stomping of those hideous beasts.

A month has passed since that dreadful day. Scattered across the kingdom, young magicians and warriors survive out in the harshness of the wild, the last survivors of this catastrophic apocalypse. Now they find themselves drawn to the harsh deserts of eastern Valia, the one place where they can escape from the pursuit of the Shadow King's fiends. Somehow, against all the odds, they must find a way to triumph over this nightmarish tyrant, return peace to Valia, and avenge their fallen people. 

The task seems impossible. But for those who have lost everything, hope is all that remains. 

Can these last survivors really liberate Valia? Can they truly defeat a man capable of single-handedly orchestrating a kingdom's demise? Does the Shadow King have other intentions? And what on earth is the titular Magistone? 

A post-apocalyptic adventure with a fantasy twist. A character-driven tale of last-ditch survival, of desperate struggle and of impossible victory. A story full of twists and turns which you can help define.

~What to expect from this RP~



The Lords of The Magistone is a survival/fantasy RP. It is essentially like any post-apocalyptic RP only mixed with fantasy elements. Thus whilst this RP will be largely focused on survival elements such as trying to live in the wild, camping, hunting, and avoiding pursuing shadow creatures, there will also be a heavy emphasis on magic, combat, and a traditional fantasy-genre plot-line.



It's a fairly simple idea; magicians and warriors as the last survivors in the wild, but an idea that will hopefully be easy to fit into and enjoy. So don't be shy; if you like fantasy RPs then don't hesitate to join in!



This is the second time this RP has been run on this website. The first time, it ran for about five months and reached 110+ pages of joyful RPing. But do not worry; this RP has been designed to be independent from the last one, in that it has been designed to accommodate for both new and returning players. You do not need any prior knowledge of what happened last time. At all. Full stop.



Additionally, whilst we will be following a set plot, you will be able (and encouraged) to create your own sub-plots and put forward ideas at certain points of the RP. It was the dedication and contribution of our players last time which made the RP so successful; and thus I strongly recommend you come into this RP with ideas.
