Fantasy Magic Knight: Crimson Moon Lore

Gaius Danius Griinia

Apparently Infamous
Who are Magic Knights and Magic Priests?
Magic Knights are individuals trained from a young age to wear and utilize arms and armor made from a supernatural metal known as Divine Ore. Stronger, harder and several times greater than any other metal. It was first developed by Priests in the Magic Council after the war between Celestials and Infernals began causing heavy casualties for regular civilians. After the war, Magic Knights became a kind of police force that would keep the peace when less savory members of the supernatural community caused too much trouble. They are now supported by Magic Priests, who work alongside them with their magical prowess and technical skill. There are even some among the Order who have successfully majored in both being a Knight AND a Priest, despite the difficulty in pursuing both.

What is a Divine Knight?
While Magic Knights are a powerful force in their own right. They can only do so much. During the invasion of Nephalem in ancient times, Magic Knights were slaughtered left and right by the superior power of the Nephalem. The priests in the Magic Council kept experimenting Divine Ore to see if they could make it stronger. Unfortunately, nothing worked. Until a Dragon Sage calling himself "Ama-no-Reisu" provided the secret to refining Divine Ore even further. It was here that suits of Magic Knight armor of superior power and quality were produced to fight back the Nephalem menace. Seeing this gift as a blessing from the heavens. Those who wore these suits of armor would go on to be known as "Divine Knights". Unfortunately, the secrets to forging superior Divine Ore were lost when Ama-no-Reisu left the order over personal differences. The remaining suits of Divine Knight armor were bonded to bloodlines loyal to the Magic Council and each Armor became a legend in its own right. Divine Knights are three times stronger than the average Magic Knight, with greater power to combat all threats that come their way. However, the Magic Council has been known to lose track of a suit of Divine Knight armor or two as centuries go by...resulting in Divine Knight armor becoming a dwindling finite resource in their war against chaos.

What is the Magic Council?
An organization comprised of representatives from every race who create and enforce laws to maintain the secrecy of their peoples and the safety of the world. They act as the ruling governmental body over the entire supernatural community. The Magic Knights and Magic Priests are their enforcers in keeping the peace. While the Magic Council functions democratically, they do have a central figure in the form of the Chancellor. They normally assign a Single Divine Knight to a region/city/district with a branch of the Magic Council to dish out orders.

How Does Magic Knight Armor Work?
Magic Knight armor is summoned via the user creating a portal to the subspace that the armor is stored in, instantly attaching itself to the wearer. From here, the timer located within the armor activates. Divine Ore is both powerful and volatile, placing a great strain upon the users entire being the longer it is worn. Ninety-nine seconds are all the user has, to deal with whatever threat they come across before the armor becomes a threat to their life. Going over the time limit results in the armor beginning the consumption of the users body and soul. In that time, the armor will morph and mutate into a nightmarish version of itself that will rampage until the armor is disengaged, the user dies or the armor is destroyed.

What Happens If I Kill Someone With My Divine Ore Weapon?
Killing someone with your Divine Ore weapon has one of two effects. It will either kill them like any other weapon, or it will destroy their body and absorb their soul into the weapon. This depends on the nature of your foe, powerful entities like Archdemons will be absorbed into the weapon while ordinary opponents like Centaurs will die like any other foe. The greater your target, the more likely they'll be sealed within your weapon. This is so that their soul can be safely stored or sent to an appropriate afterlife/punishment later.
