The Thundering Mustelid
The Origin of Lyre

Lyres history is separated into 4 past Era's, and the modern era, with the 6th era yet to come.

Era Of Gods
In the beginning there was chaos eternal and without form. Yet some force acted upon that chaos and Darkness was born with it came a being. This being called Thenon created matter and energy out of the darkness and thus the universe began with its first god. As the energy and matter began to form more gods were born out of the chaos. Six more altogether. Once the seven were complete with developing the universe their compulsion to create was satiated yet a new compulsion arose in the seven. The compulsion to create Order in the chaos of the universe. They selected a world, called it Lyre, and began to create the cosmic laws that would come to be called Physics, Chemistry, and Magic. With these three things the Gods could fight the chaos, and they could create life. And thus began the Era of Life.

Era of Life

The creation of life is a well recorded and well documented event. The first life forms made were the Elves and from them came The Human, Dwarf, Orc, and all the mortal races. The elves were the first to learn to channel the magic of the gods, Dwarves were the first craftsmen, Orcs the first Hunters, and Humans the first civilization. With the humans creation of civilization came the Era of Kingdoms. During the time of the first civilization's rise the gods noticed mortals sought power. So they created monsters. Dragons, Giants, golems, elementals, undead and every other beast. The beasts souls were infused with the natural magics of the world and mortals access to these forces was cut off. From that day forward humans could only gain magic from monster souls sacrificed to the gods.

Era of Kingdoms

The era of kingdoms began with the rise of the Argossi empire. Created by humans this empire grew and spread fast. Within 250 years it was a global civilization. Their secret...they encouraged conquered tribes to keep their culture and blend it in with others. Orcs, Dwarves,Elves, and humans lived together and grew powerful. So much so that they began to make their own rules. Instead of killing monsters as tribute to the gods they built massive walls to keep them out. Their arrogance reached its peak when they stopped worshiping the gods. In his fury the king of Gods destroyed the empire and gathered the survivors under his kingdom of darkness thus ending the Era of Kingdoms.

Era of Darkness

The Era of Darkness began with the Fall of the kingdom of Argossi. Thenon god of Darkness seated himself as the king of all and for 2000 years he ruled supreme. Mortals died by the thousands as he orchestrated large scale wars between monsters and mortals. But of his many decrees it was his decree of divine concubines that brought his end. The decree stated that gods could choose mates from the mortal population. Eventually this caused Pyre goddess of flames to fall for Alphaius the human warrior. She gave birth to twin boys Akuma and Atori. The boys both possessed the flames of destiny one with a flame in his heart the other with a flame in his mind. Together they Killed the World beast took its soul and mastered all forms of magic afterwards they spoke with the Immortal Crone and Atori was given the twelve plates of prophesy which would save the future. Akuma was given the alpha force which would save the world in the present. The two brothers came to battle Thenon and at the cost of Akuma's life were successful thus ending the era of Darkness.

Era of Prophesies

The era of prophesy began 2,000 years ago with the Fulfilment of the first prophecy via Thenon's Defeat. The second prophesy came 120 years later when Thenon's kingdom fell apart after the sea gods death caused chaos beasts to fill the seas making sailing impossible. The third prophecy was fulfilled 70 years after that when The goddess of frost died causing the Tundras to turn red with blood. The fourth prophecy was fulfilled 110 years later when the Sacred Groves began to raise, natural monsters gathering together to wage war against the Chaos beasts. The fifth prophecy was fulfilled 130 years after that when the Nature goddess died and Forests no longer gave their bounty freely. The Sixth prophecy was fulfilled 270 years later When The first Kingdom to rise in monster territories rose in the northern tundras. The Seventh prophecy was fulfilled When the God of the Underworld abandoned his post 900 years ago and undead began to grow in population. The eighth prophecy was fulfilled only 30 years ago when A woman took to the seas and succeeded in conquering the beasts within them. The ninth prophecy Is currently underway...and all this time Atori has Followed the prophecies spreading his wisdom and creating a faith in the prophecies under the Name "Teacher"

Era of Light

An eternity of peace and prosperity promised to come by the prophecies in the 12 plates....

Important Figures and Events

Entropy
All things tend towards chaos. The gods held this chaos at bay. But as they fall so to do their domains. Domains that fall to chaos spawn chaos beasts. So with 4 gods dead chaos beasts now spawn in the Night, the Seas, the Forests, and the Tundras. When these domains overlap the monsters grow stronger. So for example, the forests spawn monsters, but at night it spawns stronger monsters. Because of this the most dangerous place in the world is currently the northern ocean ice sheets because the ice spawns them, the sea beneath does too causing one overlap, and at night its a double overlap making nigh unstoppable monsters.

The Gods

Thenon god of Darkness
(Deceased)

the god of Darkness was the First born god Risen from the chaos after it was struck with the alpha force. He created the Matter and Energy that would later birth the other gods who became his siblings. Despite his great power he suffered from a severe weakness. As more came into existence, there was less darkness. His domain grew weaker over time, Contributing to his madness which lead him to rule all of reality with an iron fist. Until he was Killed by The Demigod Akuma weilder of the Alpha Force, the very force responsible for Thenon's creation. Now at night time monster spawn.

Tothe god of the Sea
(deceased)

amanikable_the_god_of_the_sea__maklium_sa_tubig__by_juntacu-da3s2b0.jpg
The Sea god was actually the god of water throughout the cosmos. He simplified himself for the sake of early mortals limiting his domain to the Waters of Lyre. Even with those limits he was one of the stronger gods able to change the course of battles. He Begged his Brother Thenon the Regard the mortals with Respect until his brothers inevitable death. So hurt was the sea god at his brothers well earned demise that he banished himself to the depths of the sea vowing to never see mortals again. This inevitably resulted in his demise as the Abyss of the sea was constant darkness. And the domain of darkness had begun to fall into entropy. After 120 years of nonstop battle with an endless tide of chaos beasts the sea god fell and the oceans began to spawn chaos beasts.

Lyre goddess of Nature
(Deceased)

forest_goddess_by_steves3511-d9mznm1.jpg
The goddess of nature after whom the world was named. Though she had little hand in the creation of mortals she is the mother of all plants and animals on the planet. She took a liking to the Orcs and it was said that her generosity was without limits. This generosity and mercy proved to be her downfall. She lost her life at the hands of a deadly chaos beast as she attempted to protect a young Orc and her Family. Now nature has begun to grow savage and the forests are no longer safe.

Aurora Goddess of Frost
(Deceased)

ice_goddess_by_shizen1102-dayvhv7.jpg
The goddess of The cold and easily the least involved of the gods. She was fickle and mysterious. Often luring men to their death in the icy wastelands she called home. However her natural tendency to creep into domains of others made her destined to fall. After successfully surviving the seas, and the nights she was finally overwhelmed and fell when her Sister Lyre's domain was overcome. Now the cold is the least bitter aspect of the tundra's.

Logoth God of The Afterlife
(Missing)

phantom_archer___lotc_by_clintcearley-d7czq90.jpg
The Shepherd of the dead and lord of souls. He is the youngest of the gods, rumored to be the first Mortal ever born who achieved divinity after spending his entire existence training with the gods. He left his post allowing his domain to fall to chaos and fulfilling his prophecy. However the dead mortals no longer rest peacefully undead wander the world, and rumors say the spirit god wanders the world.

Pyre Goddess of flames
(Southwestern Desert

pele_by_genzoman-d3984f3.jpg
The Goddess of fire and one of the most involved amongst the seven. She gifted mortals with fire to bolster their civilizations, and has even continued to be an inspiration as she has built a city in the dessert where she creates light day and night with her radiance pushing back chaos beasts. All beleive that she will fall last.

Maestro god of The sky
(Mountain Of Spears)

god_of_thunder_by_zzjimzz.jpg
The god of the skies is the least friendly towards mortals. He created dragons to punish them, and has whipped up storms in his wrath. However he also gives the rain which brings life, and the sunlight that grants warmth. However since the fall of Thenon he has sat atop his mountain smiting any who think to climb it. Few test him and many are waiting on his fall to explore the mountain.

The Legends

The Crone
(unknown)

crone_by_checanty-d7mctxs.jpg.cf.jpgthe crone is easily the most mysterious being in the Realm of Lyre. She seems to know everything, including things kept secret and the future. Something even the gods cannot claim. Furthermore she Created the 12 tablets which have proven indestructible to all forms of damage or tampering. She can also hide her presence even from gods. But her greatest Feat was bestowing the Alpha force to Akuma...the force rumored to have created Thenon. She is often regarded as a myth as next to nothing is known about her aside from the rumors.

Akuma The God Slayer
(Deceased)

0bf780fbf96ad0694dcfedeaa2fc6489--fantasy-art-men-fantasy-artwork.jpg
The eldest twin Demigod child of Pyre. After the death of his fiance due to Thenon's cruelty. He vowed to slay the god of darkness. His quest. Consisted of three parts, Take the World beasts soul, Master Magic, & find the crone. Once he completed his quest he was granted the Alpha Force and used the energy it granted to fell Thenon. This sealed his fate it would seem as his body couldnt handle the strain and he came to rest on the sacred key isle.

Atori the Teacher
(Abroul The Capitol city.)
055960e2e87ebbb531a96532a647b6f8.jpg

The younger twin son of Pyre. He Vowed to stand beside his brother through his quest, and in fact it was his planning that made their quest possible. Yet his quest did not end with the gods death rather it began. The plates the Crone had given him seemed to grant him immortality. Which he has used to wander the world preparing for the prophecies to be fulfilled and his destiny complete. In his 2000 year lifespan he has learned much about the universe, magic, combat, and basically everything. In the past 7 centuries he has taken to training Knights in order to prepare for the Journey of the chosen one.

10. "A weapon will rise, one without fail, but to be wielded, the chosen must prevail."

11. "The sky is darkened, the fires Coals Glow, what dwells in pit will rise from Below."

12. "Chaos cut down by the god of light, what follows is the end of the Night."

Magic

A strange and volatile energy that has been the focal point of science for the recorded history of Lyre. In the ancient days mortals could pull the energy directly from the universe. However that ended when Thenon created the Veil. As a result magic became more difficult art.

Magic today can be used only as part of a 3 step process. Step 1 is to learn the science of the spell, how the energy flows, what it does, etc. Step 2 is to gather mana for the spells. A process accomplished through killing monsters and absorbing their souls after sacrificing the corpses to the gods. Step 3 is to enchant an item with the spell. This can be done in a variety of ways the less uses an item has the stronger the spell, the more uses the weaker the spell. This is determined by the mage.

So for example if you wanted to throw fireballs you would have to learn the spell, kill a monster, bind its soul to an item and set the division rate. If you divide the soul 5 times you can cast the spell 5 times but it will be only 20% as powerful as if you put all the soul into the item with no divide. The biggest rule to remember is that once an enchanted item is used up the item turns into dust. Since there are no reloading items its wise to use expendable things like rocks though many mages choose to have dual purpose tools such as an enchanted sword or shield. A stronger monster gives you more mana making for more powerful spells.

The world of Lyre is a filled with many magical creatures but the only ones who are playable are the Mortal races.

The World
Lyre Map.png
From Deep serene lakes to Tundras that stretch out for thousands of miles. The world of Lyre is great and diverse as are its creatures. Though Giants and dragons are dangerous, there exist a whole slew of creatures whose sheer size and power rival even theirs
fantasy-art-Deep-sea-monster-3383173.jpeg
But big isn't everything. Some creatures are so stealthy that to this day none know what they look like. Dark Horrors which dwell underground attacking the minds and souls of the unprepared. Even magical creatures with power rivaling any mage, enough so that they are considered lesser gods.
__homecoming___by_aviaku-d8eb1u0.jpg
However its not just the creatures that are full of wonder and mystery. The people themselves are rich in possibilities. Take the dwarven nations of Asim and Eknath. Locked in a 260 year long war with the worlds most advanced technologies. or the High elven nations Of Shi'Kalos And Shi'Elkos whose opposing ideology has lead to a magical cold war of sorts. Or the esteemed Fort Toric, an ancient structure build during the ancient Argossi empire which fights off not only the bitter cold, but also the colossal beasts of the frozen tundras, protecting the central continent and its citizens. Or The pack, A massive clan of Giants which lives upon the tundras, keeping the monsters population in check. Wonders fill this world...can you find them all?
