  • now what...

ahn junhwi

!

The drive felt like the final moment of peace that he would have in a while and, as Junhwi pulled into the parking lot, he gave himself a long minute of stillness. Two weeks, strangers, and a reality show. Quite the chaotic list of keywords for his near future... not to mention, of course, the highly advertised romance.

Short, muted laughter cut through the car's silence, followed by the click of an opening door. He had to admit, it really was a bad habit, throwing himself into deep waters every time he saw a new ocean. But this, he suspected, was going to be a dive to remember.

Junhwi stepped outside, coming face to face with his destination at last, gaze wandering as he approached the building. His father would have had a great time if he were here, if for nothing but to geek out over the architecture. House felt like an understatement for the cabin, seemingly hovering above a crystal-colored pool, surrounded by lush greenery. Mansion didn't feel so right for its cozy mood and warm lights, either. He supposed home, would have to do for now, until the end of this little detour.

Entering through the unlocked front entrance, he was greeted by the fresh scent of lavender and a spacious living room. A living room, surprisingly, devoid of people. Was he the first to arrive? Maybe he'll have one more peaceful moment then, he mused, as he headed straight for the table in the middle of the room. Taking a seat near the left edge of the leather couch, in just the right spot to see anyone coming through the door, Junhwi leaned slightly into the soft back as the impatient sentiment sets in: Now what?

He let his eyes run over the lush decor once more before coming to rest on the bright screen of the TV where a welcoming message was displayed. Though he skimmed over the repetition of the show's rules, his focus fell particularly on the part about a letter. He glanced at the glass table, where a black envelope sat, its plain design given mystery by the announcement.

Read or wait, huh? Barely any hesitation crossed Junhwi's face before he reached out to pick it up, toying with its edges for a brief moment before he began to open it. He had just managed to take a peek at the paper hidden within, however, when the sound of approaching footsteps put another stop to his movements. He looked up, just in time to see a figure walking in.

His crossed legs uncrossed, his back straightened a little, and his attention stuck to the newcomer, letter left forgotten between his fingers. The corner of his lips lifted slightly, almost subconsciously; she was pretty.
"Oh,"
he began, giving the woman a short nod of greeting,
"hello."

  • oh,, hello there :3

lee gayoung

!

it'd been a while since gayoung had lived with someone else. quite a significant while, though the luxurious exterior promised a vastly different experience, regardless, from the squashed college dorm terrorised by minah's bad habits. it was a nice house— she would give them that— but so far removed from her usual reality it was hard to imagine it would become home for the next two weeks.

she supposed she'd just see it as a vacation. there was a very pretty pool, after all, and gayoung would look forward to getting a dip in its crystalline waters later. would they get the chance? she hoped so.

a gentle push on the front door and gayoung entered with a demeanour not unlike an adventurer descending into the depths of a cave; earnest, but with a careful step. the living room matched the exterior of the house in that it was similarly expensive-looking, though it was made less aloof by the man already seated on the couch. the pleasant surprise in finding that he was handsome was made even more pleasant when that impression held up even after she got closer.

"oh, hello." his voice matches his face.

"good afternoon,"
she replied, with a small smile and a nod of her own.

she sat herself on the couch next to him, a well-thought-out distance between them that was appropriate between strangers without feeling distant. her arms crossed loosely as her gaze slipped from his face to scan the room, eyeing the glint of a camera lens before coming to rest on the text-filled television screen. an envelope? the glass table was empty, though it was without much effort that gayoung instead found it clasped between the fingers of her new companion.

"have you opened it?"
her question was accompanied by a raise of her brow, and her eyes lifted to his face curiously. he had a beauty mark under his left eye.

"not yet, do you want to..." he paused, black envelope turned slightly towards her, "how should i address you?"

she shot him another smile.
"i'm lee gayoung. and you...?"

his offer either forgotten or retracted, gayoung watched as the letter was tossed somewhat careless onto the table. she eyed it briefly in her peripheral, though her attention returned to him as he spoke. "ahn junhwi."

"it's nice to meet you, junhwi-ssi."
silence descended upon the room, and gayoung considered reading it then. but he hadn't, and she supposed it might be better if it was opened after everyone had arrived. when would that be?

as if reading her mind, junhwi's voice cut through the quiet. "should we look around the house?" another charming smile from him, and she thought he was probably the type of guy who knew quite well that he was attractive. "while we wait for the others."

she didn't particularly mind.

a click from the door interrupted her just as she was about to reply, and a newcomer peered into the room; brown hair that framed sweet-looking features— she was cute.
"hello."

  • totally not nervous no...

park eunji

!

eunji's mind is currently an ocean where thoughts neither sink or drown, the currents too wild to offer a sense of peace. nerves come with the finger fumbling and leave through deep breaths into the air; it is clear how much she already feels out of her depths despite not even having arrived at the abode. eyes watch the changing sceneries through glass, and she tries to prepare herself for the spectacle that is to come.

fourteen days and seven strangers, all playing for either money or love — it is certainly a show.

one, eunji still does not quite believe herself to be partaking in.

truth is, she doesn't consider herself a person interesting enough to shine on camera; her job too mundane to be special and her colors too gentle to sparkle under the light. but here she is anyway,, goal in her mind and nerves in her body. why the show picked her out of all applicants, she might never know, but she likes to hold onto the thought they liked her well enough. and as the cab stops in front of a luxurious complex, framed by hyaline blues and florid greens, eunji silently nods to herself.

it is too late to back now...

after stepping outside the vehicle, she allows herself a brief moment of respite, something she is probably not going to experience for a while. she takes a breathe, and, as the all too familiar scent of lavender enters her nose, smiles a smile a little more at ease. they probably just placed flowers because it looks pretty, but eunji appreciates it nonetheless; it makes her feel a bit more at home.

much in contrast to the fast-paced heartbeats, eunji walks with slow, careful steps as she enters the house. wide eyes wander about, half in awe of the interior and half in shock of the fact that this is the house she will be living in for the upcoming two weeks. what are walls and furniture dark and cold are balanced with large windows and warm lighting; it looks oddly cozy for such a luxurious home.

attention grasped by the some greenery in the hall, eunji barely notices the other two when entering the living room. the gaze that travels stops upon catching figures, eyes widening slightly in surprise.
"o-oh hello,"
she greets, lips curving into a smile. her cheeks flush, partly upon embarrasment for not noticing them immediately and partly because, well, they are very good looking. so good looking it makes her feel a bit self-conscious.

she pushes down that feeling though and sits down next to the girl.

" "sorry, i was just looking at a plant- i'm eunji. park eunji,"
she respectfully bows a bit while introducing herself. gosh, are they nervous as well, or is it just her heart beating that wildly?

"hi, i'm lee gayoung."

"ahn junhwi"

eunji smiles brightly at them both, all while wondering if they could see the nerves in her eyes. it was one thing to participate a show meant for catching love, but having to compete with and for others looking this strikingly good was another.

"it's nice to meet you both."
her mind turns to cultivate a question, or at least something interesting, hoping it will form a distraction for both her and them. mainly for her.

"h-have u two looked around the house some further yet?"

  • first meeting time

jeon jihoon

!

The travel to his destination was feeling like a moment of realization that he was actually taking part in a reality show. Two weeks of his life would be recorded as he ventured on this journey of trying to find love or get money along with seven strangers; just as the premise, he was told when he joined. Was he perhaps getting nervous? Jihoon wasn’t really the one to be afraid of the unexpected; but for sure, this was a complete change in his everyday life. So while he was excited about the next two weeks, there was still a slight worry in the back of his head about what could really go down in that period.

Just as Jihoon pulled into the parking lot, he took notice of the place he would stay for the next two weeks. Could he really call this home during that time? But he would have to find that answer in that period. Yet one thing he was sure was luxurious and was definitely interesting and quite fitting for a show like this one. With the modern and captivating design, but still surrounded by all the nature that just added to the incredible view.

As he stepped out of his car, he took notice of another one being already there, making him realize he wasn’t the first one to arrive at the house and that peaked more his interest. How many people would there be already? One, maybe two more? Or would he be the last one to arrive?

With confident steps, he walks towards the front door, and giving no space for doubts Jihoon opens, he is greeted by the scent of lavender and it doesn’t take long to realize that there must be flowers relatively close, he couldn’t blame the production for adding them as decoration. Just as he walked to the living room, Jihoon saw two girls and one guy already there.
“Hello”
he said with a relaxed but still confident demeanor as he approached the three strangers.

The two girls were pretty, but just completely different looking at their demeanor. One had this charismatic aura around her, while the other seemed more on the shy and reserved side. Meanwhile, the guy, well, he was handsome, but not to the point of making Jihoon feel any worry about his looks. He took a seat next to the girl that was wearing the light brown skirt as he offered them a smile.
“I’m Jeon Jihoon, nice to meet all of you.”
he introduced himself, and quickly he got a reply with their names Eunji, Gayoung, and Junhwi.

“I heard you were planning to look around the house. Let’s go now before someone else arrives,”
Jihoon said as he stood up and started walking, leaving the living room behind; he heard the others following as if he was sure they were as curious to see the rest of the house. He took notice of the modern kitchen that almost seemed brand new as he made his way. That’s when he spotted the stairs that would take them to the second floor, which he assumed none of them had any idea what was up there or how their bedrooms would look like.

“Let’s go upstairs.”
He said as he made his way to the second floor, and as expected, it was just as surprising as the first floor. The modern furniture still gave the cozy environment was enough to be eye-catching and somehow make it feel like a home.
“Did you were expecting something like this?”

  • oh, no no no no

yoon sunoo

!

Sunoo could kill Hyuck. Okay, maybe not kill, but seriously hurt Hyuck. Well, maybe not that either. But if he had a mean or aggressive bone in his body he definitely would!

“Calm down, it’s only for two weeks,” said Hyuck, staring over at Sunoo from the drivers seat.

“Two weeks with people I don’t know,” mumbled Sunoo, staring out the window. “It’ll feel like an eternity. You know how I am, I can barely even talk to people I know.”

“Which is why I signed you up. This is good for you, you’ll hopefully make some friends and improve your social skills.”
Sunoo said nothing in response.

The rest of the drive passed in silence and way too soon for his liking, they were pulling up to the house Sunoo would be living in for the next to weeks. He didn’t say anything as the car was put into park, just stared up at the house in silence. But then he knew it was time to go and with a sigh, got out of the car.

“Bye honey, have fun!” shouted Hyuck as he pulled away, leaving the skater standing there alone.

As he walked up the walkway of the house, Sunoo seriously considered just turning around and running away. This type of thing was not for him, he knew it. He’d end up making a fool out of himself in front of these strangers, in front of the country in fact, and he wasn’t ready for that.

But now he was at the front door and he figured there was no point in turning back. So with a deep breath, he turned the knob and pushed the door open. Much to his relief, there was no one in the entryway. Was he the first one here? That would be awesome. He could hide out in the bathroom or something until the day was over.

Unfortunately for him, he was not the only one here, something he soon found out as he turned a corner and entered the living room. Everyone was congregated in this room, looking just as awkward as he felt. “Er. . . hi,” he squeaked out and made his way over to an empty chair on the other side of the room, sitting down in it.

Everyone appeared to have already introduced themselves to one another, but Sunoo wasn’t going to be the one to initiate that. Talking first was not on his agenda. He looked around for something to do, instantly missing the backpack full of extra clothes that was always on his back and the carry-on always wheeled at his side, carrying his skates and guards. He felt too exposed without them and he didn’t like it.

He looked up when a guy suggested they all go upstairs and check out the rest of the house, not at all interested in participating in that activity. He continued to stare as the same guy walked out of the room talking to himself, seemingly unaware (or uncaring) that no one else was following. Odd flex, but to each their own.

Not knowing what else to do, he put his hands on his thighs and sunk further into the chair he was sitting in, waiting to be told what to do.

gwan ki-bum

!

Nerves which had captured and tormented his gut were slowly being elevated as those miracle colourful beans came into alignment, forming into a multicoloured candy ball. A wide grin formed upon his face as he sat in the back of the car, the warmth of the sun radiating over him. I’ve got you now he manically cackled to himself internally. With a simple swipe, the dopamine kicked in as he watched the candy ball envelope the swiped bean and let chaos ensue. The characters of the game popped up, congratulating him on his efforts for passing the level. And there his avatar went, sliding up the leader board and onwards on the map.

If Candy Crush was anything like crack, he now fully understood how people became addicted to it.

You’ve got this Hyung! 화이팅!!!

The notification startled him back into reality as it flashed on top of his phone. Oh, that was right. He had made this commitment. Fourteen days and seven strangers, surrounded by cameras, on the hunt to discover who was there for love and only there for the money. Now, there were three things about this situation that didn’t freak him out. Fourteen days away from home? Sounded like a vacation. Exciting. Seven strangers? Well, as an extrovert, it tickled his heart to know that there were people out there that he could potentially become lifelong friends with. Finally, being surrounded by cameras? It was almost like he was at work again. He was used to being under the constant eye of the media as he worked alongside the President and many other news corporations. No, all of these things did not bother him the slightest and honestly, it was igniting a passion and excitement in his chest for him.

It was the love or money part that shook him to the core.

Gwan Ki-Bum had had his heart broken so many times that he wasn’t even sure there was much left to break off anymore. Each time he was thrown with another I love you like a brother, he could feel the delicate fragments of his heart take another beating. All the sticky tape and bandages used in hope of restoration would lose all grip, and his world would come shattering around him once more. He wasn’t sure if he could survive another bullet to the heart. I suppose these next few weeks would test the poor things endurance.

The car slowly came to a halt, the tires crying softly as it stopped. “We’re here” the driver informed Ki-Bum, turning slightly over his shoulder with an accomplished grin. All fears and worries were masked by a wide grin upon Ki-Bum’s face.
"Thank you!"
he said with a subtle head bow. With a press of the button, he locked his phone and slid it into his jeans pockets. Finally, he managed to gather up all confidence from the pits of his being, unbuckle his seat belt, and drag himself out of the car to come face to face with the incredible house before him. His eyes gleamed with delight as he inhaled and soaked in the modern architecture. Okay, he really didn’t mind being here for fourteen days.

Venturing up towards the house and inside itself was a bit daunting. For starters, for some reason he had been expecting a camera crew. After all, it was a show, was it not? After all these years interpreting for media, he had grown used to cameras. They were almost like a comfort for him, bringing some sense of security. Crazy, right? With the absence of these lenses, Ki-Bum began to feel that uneasy feeling forming in the pits of his guts once more. Even as he moved into the house, his footsteps echoing against the timber flooring, it only continued to increase. Was the scent of lavender meant to unsettle his nerves? Because it was not working in the slightest. This mind was so busy trying to process his environment that he almost didn’t realise…

He was the only one here?

내 새 친구는 어디에 있습니까?

나 혼자야?

이것은 미래의 예언입니까?

Ki-Bum knew the Korean media and how they edited and portrayed people. He could see it now. The hangul letters floating as footage of him looking completely lost and bewildered as he stood in the living room. The ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Frolic music playing as on screen he awkwardly found himself a place to be. He wasn’t going to let that happen, though. He was going to create the narrative of his own portrayal. So, instead, he placed on a warm smile and began to gaze around the room. Slowly, with well thought out steps, he made his way around the living room environment. To the viewer, one would simply say he was admiring the art displays and furniture. But Ki-Bum, one who was intrigued by multi-media and broadcasting, he was curious to see how and where they hid their cameras.

ahn junhwi

!

By the time his suggestion of taking a look around came to its realization, the number of participants had doubled. More than doubled, in fact, because another — vaguely familiar, he thought, though he couldn't say why — face walked in just before they left. The fifth entry, though, made himself rather invisible, barely muttering one word to the group before diving into the couch. Was he shy, or sleepy? It wasn't too clear.

Junhwi watched as the guy in a white shirt — Jihoon, was it? — stood up and walked past him towards the stairs without hesitation. Ah, so he was that type of guy, always the first to take charge and trusting that everyone else will follow. And not a misplaced trust, clearly, judging by how the girls gave each other a glance before getting up to trail after him.

Lucky; he had hoped there would be more of a leader type among the guys. God knows it wasn't going to be him. Or, he ventured to guess, their newest member, who was still stuck in the couch, as if he had become one with the leather, not showing a sign of moving. Junhwi pulled himself to his feet quite leisurely, glancing at the trio already at the feet of the staircase and then back down at Couch Boy.

"Aren't you coming?"
He asked, and though there was nothing else he could've been talking about, he jerked his head slightly towards the leaving group anyway. The younger (or so he assumed) man looked up from his fidgeting hands, eyes slightly widened, as if shocked he was being acknowledged. Shy, Junhwi concluded, not sleepy.

"To explore this place a little. Doesn't seem like there's anything else to do, until everyone else arrives,"
Junhwi elaborated, earning himself a response at last.

Not much, just a stuttered:
"I-I guess."
But a response, nonetheless. There was a small shrug, and then a pause, before something seems to dawn on the guy, as he continued with even more heightened anxiety in his voice,
"Everyone else? There's more coming?"

"Yeah,"
Junhwi laughed, Couch Boy's mouse-like nervousness ironically helping him to relax through mirth,
"I heard there's eight of us,"

"I..."
the man seems to consider his options for a while,
"guess I'll come."
As Couch Boy finally stood up, Junhwi, too, pivoted towards the stairs to follow the others, keeping his pace slow enough that, by the time they reached the steps, they were walking side by side.

"I'm Junhwi, by the way,"
he introduced for the fourth time in maybe five minutes max — he couldn't call him Couch Boy forever — his tone slowly becoming more casual as he got used to this odd meeting-the-new-roommate type of situation.

"Hi Junhwi-ssi, I'm Sunoo. Yoon Sunoo."
Couch Boy Sunoo replied, and for the second time he thought that something about this stranger was familiar. Is this, perhaps, what they call fate?

Junhwi scoffed mentally at himself, as they finally reached the second floor to be greeted by a dark lounge with warm lights that gave it the vibe of a hidden bar. Beyond that, a hallway stretched, with doors to what he could only assume were their bedrooms. Pretty, he thought idly, as he quickened his pace to catch up to the others.

He didn't forget Sunoo, of course, and would have continued to talk to him, if it weren't for Jihoon starting another one among the group a step quicker when he asked them:
"Were you expecting something like this?"

A quiet beat passed, and as someone who become increasingly uncomfortable with silence the more strangers there were around him, Junhwi answered before another could.
"It's quite grand, isn't it?"
He mused, leading himself and Sunoo closer to the group,
"When I heard vacation house, I wasn't thinking it'd be so... spacious."

Just as he said that, below them, he thought he heard a door open. Junhwi let the others continue the conversation, while he headed toward the railings to glance down at the newcomers.

lee gayoung

!

as if on cue, contestants flowed in one after the other. eunji had just finished speaking when a guy entered, followed somewhat closely by another and both, too, much more handsome than she'd been expecting. gayoung might've thought the two had come together, if not for the latter's glaringly timid demeanour. he seemed content dodging past the first— jihoon, as he'd been quite enthusiastic to introduce— with nothing but a quiet little greeting she just barely caught.

if she'd wanted to squeeze a name out of him, she'd have no chance to. "i heard you were planning to look around the house. let’s go now before someone else arrives." a go-getter personality, one that gayoung would suspend judgment as to whether it was a good or bad thing. but it was part of their plan, anyways.

"shall we?"
she affirmed, getting to her feet.

she gestured for eunji to go first with a tilt of her head, and gayoung remained quite comfortably paired with the other girl for most of the house tour. she wasn't particularly interested in interior design, but it was, at least, to her expectations. luxurious, and almost a little sterile with how immaculate it looked. unlived-in.

honestly, they made great material for background studies. she'd have to take pictures when she had time later.

they made their way upstairs, and she split from the group, heading straight for the girls' room. she hadn't quite expected them all of them be sharing a single room, but it was spacious enough that it didn't look like it would be uncomfortable; just a two-week-long sleepover. how exciting— she wondered what the rest of the girls would be like.
"eunji, come look!"
she called, beckoning her over with a wave of her hand,
"it's quite cute, isn't it? it looks like we'll get a decent view, too."

her eyes were still roaming the interior and layout of the second floor when they returned (did the boys' room look the same too...?), catching only the tip of junhwi's words. "i wasn't thinking it'd be so... spacious."

"it's a nice house, still. it'll just take some getting used to,"
she said, watching junhwi curiously as he headed to the balcony that overlooked the first floor. had others come already? her gaze rested for him a little longer before returning to the others in the group, giving them a kind smile as she added,
"but i'm sure it'll be fun with you all. what about you?"

  • AAAAAA, i'm late!!!!!

baek mindeulle

!

Before you say anything -- Mindeulle swears she can explain.

It had all started the previous night (well, it started long before that, but Mindeulle doesn't have time to explain everything, because well -- you'll see). Mindeulle -- giddy on equal parts nerves and excitement, practically shaking in eager anticipation -- could not sleep. She tried everything -- calming herbal tea, melatonin pills, even jogging a few laps around the block, which only resulted in her heaving over her bed and wanting to get a massage for her sore muscles. Could you blame her, though? The next morning, Minnie would be going on Love Catcher -- a whirlwind of an experience with seven strangers, a massive mansion, and a torrent of mysterious activities. Love Catcher was basically a gladiatorial contest in romance; Mindeulle likened it to the Hunger Games, which her sister found rather morbid when she had brought it up, but Mindeulle found it oh so exciting!

So yes, Mindeulle did not get a wink of sleep. Thus, in the morning, she decided to treat herself to a massive frappuccino, with extra shots of espresso, extra pumps of syrup, extra fluffy whipped cream -- the whole shebang. She needed the caffeine, and it was a special occasion worthy of a small celebration. But Mindeulle had spent too much time selecting her outfit (which she thought was very on theme) and catching up on all the chores she had neglected the previous night. Consequently, she left her apartment far later than was ideal, and got stuck in the unusually packed drive-through line after that. Mindeulle had watched the minutes tick by on her car dashboard, caught between getting out of the line to book it or committing to her frappuccino dreams (she chose the latter; she was so close -- she wouldn't back down!). On top of everything else, Minnie rolled over the curb in her furious attempt to get out of the drive-through as fast as possible -- which really wasn't out of the ordinary for her, but it was still jarring.

And look, before you say it -- yes, Mindeulle should've planned better. She knows this more than you! But hey ... we all have our flaws, right?

Mindeulle ended up pulling up to her destination a solid forty minutes after the scheduled call time, dashing out of her (very poorly parked) car. She halted in the massive driveway, gaping at the mansion that laid before her in all its clean monochrome lines and lush, yet elegantly arranged greenery. Mindeulle wasn't much of a house person herself (she much preferred parks), but as an architect in her own right, she had to give the designers and engineers of the scene before her all their well-deserved credit.

A loud ding! shook Minnie out of her reverie, prompting her to fumble for her phone and read the incoming messages.
You're late, aren't you?

get your shit together, Minnie

At least try to minimize my pain of seeing my sister on national TV.

Jindallae's texts brought Minnie back to earth --
oh my god, I'm at least forty minutes late -- aaAAAAA!

Mindeulle glanced at her reflection in the building's towering and pristinely clean windows. A short skinny woman (who looked more like a teenager), dressed in an all pink ensemble with a pink frappe that seemed too large for her frame stared back at her.

I look like a cartoon character ... so much personality, I think I'll make a great impression!

Mindeulle opened the front door as quietly as possible, holding her breath as she crept close to the wall and tried her very best to not make her entrance too dramatic, you know? But once she peered into what looked like a living room and caught sight of a head of brown hair, all bets were off and out the window.

"I'm so sorry for being so late!"
Mindeulle bowed fervently as she entered the room.
"My name is Baek Mindeulle, but you can call me Minnie! I was born in '94, so --"

The brunette woman glanced up, cutting her spill of words short when she realized that the head of brown hair ... was the only other head in the room.
"What, why is no one else here?!"
Was everyone late? Was Mindeulle, for once in this dreary world, not the last person ever?
"Well, at least I'm not the last one!"

Mindeulle turned to the man, smiling brightly.
"It's great to meet you! What's your name? Tell me about yourself!"

  • wait where's everyone?

im yeoreum

!

Yeoreum wasn’t nervous. How could she be? After all, she was used to being in front of a camera and having people watch her through their TVs; although most of the time it was when she was playing a character instead of showcasing her real self. Either way, she was confident that nothing could go wrong.

She had already decided that her experience in Love Catcher would be amazing and no one could change her mind about it; not even her managers that thought her appearance could be a risky move to her career if she was portrayed in a not good way to the viewers or her sister that thought that Yeoreum had lost her way after her failing drama.

So when the day finally came, Yeoreum was confident that as soon as she would step into the house. Everyone would be in awe when they saw her and she could already picture how they would zoom on the faces of the male contestants as they were mesmerized by her; because let’s be real. Who wouldn’t be out of breath when the Im Yeoreum was near them?

That was the main reason she arrived late, not because she was like that. In fact, she was always on time, but this time she wanted to make her grand entrance and it wouldn’t work if the rest weren’t there already. But despite stating prior that she had unshakable confidence as the car continued getting closer to the place she would stay for the next two weeks; the nerves showed up. She knew it was natural since all of them were strangers; but knowing that there could be the chance, even if it was minimal, that one of them could have been part of the people that sent her hate because of her acting would devastate her.

When her manager announced they had arrived, Yeoreum took a deep breath and let it out; calming herself before she exited the car. As soon as she stepped out; Yeoreum was surprised by the house in front of her. To say it was breathtaking wasn’t enough for the scenery in front of her that was accompanied by the modern and luxurious building that would be the place she would spend the next two weeks.

The actress took a last look at herself in the car mirror. She already knew she was cute. She looked her best since she only had one chance to make a good first impression.
“I’ll see you in two weeks! Don’t miss me too much.”
The girl said in a playful tone as she said goodbye to her manager. Once Yeoreum was in front of the door, she opened it slowly. She couldn’t wait to see the surprised faces of everyone when they saw her.
“Hello!”
She said in a chirping tone as she stepped into the living room, but when she saw only two people, and with that, her grand entrance was ruined. This was terrible.

But she couldn’t let that bring her down. If things didn’t go as planned, she could still make it to work, despite the outcomes. She took a glance at the girl and the guy that were there. The girl seemed older than her, but she seemed bubbly and was pretty too, but not as pretty as Yeoreum, and the guy had this cute and adorable look to him.
“Are we really the only ones that have arrived? Everyone is certainly taking their time to arrive.“
The actress said in a curious tone.
“Oh! I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Im Yeoreum. What are your names?”

gwan ki-bum

!

He trailed around the room, catching sight of all the hand-crafted masterpieces on display which were used to distract the naked eye from the lenses of the world that were spying on their every move. So far, it seemed as if they had done quite the job of hiding each camera. The odd buzzing and flexing sound tickled his ears, providing a credible source to where they may have been hidden. The echoing of the focusing lenses isolated within his mind that any other sound was left astray. Which probably explained his body’s initial reaction as the next person waltzed on through.

She was a cool wave of mixed pink tones coming into shore. Boldly collecting momentum in the lead-up, before crashing into the coastland with immense force. Her presence pushed its way through the tides and her confidence overshadowed any perilous reefs lurking in the water beneath. Once she had broken against the shore, glancing up and her hair spilling into place, her froth began to emerge; gravity pulling her back at her weakest points, breaking her apart into a mass of droplets and bubbles and scattering in every direction. But like the waves that dance along the waters of Busan, tugging and pushing, she gathered herself up once more and recreated her waves. This time, however, her waves were much more tranquil in comparison to before.

As she turned to him and asked for his name, and for him to tell her about himself, Ki-Bum couldn’t resist a soft mannered smile wrapped up with a polite bow on top of it all. The girl had been moving in such a chaotic motion before that he had almost forgotten her name along with her birth year she had decided to throw in there. 94. Be respectful Ki-Bum noted as he went to part his lips to speak. However, introductions would be placed on hold once more as another person was to arrive.

In comparison to Mindeulle, this girl’s entrance was a soft Autumn breeze. She was the lone leaf left attached to a shedding Korean red pine, finally giving in to the seasons and letting the wind take her hostage. Gracefully flowing through the drafts, dancing with intricate manoeuvres until she too came a subject to gravity, landing softly onto the lush fields surrounding her. Yeoreum, as she introduced herself. So, there was Yeoreum and Mindeulle. One who came like a delicate seasonal change, and the other who came roaring in with drive and force. They certainly made an impression that would take a great time to erase from Ki-Bum’s memory.

As Yeoreum introduced herself, Ki-Bum also gave her a polite bow. It seemed as if the floor was set for him to finally introduce himself for the first time. Just… get your name right, he thought to himself. Working in the sign language industry, verbally communicating was an abstract concept. He was much more prone to using his hands and facial expression while he was in front of cameras; almost like a safety blanket. It was at that moment that he realised that someone had come and ripped the blankets from his hands and was pushing him out to defend himself without that additional protection.

Oh… My name is Gwan Ki-Bum
” he responded with a warm complexion, his face radiating positivity (and thank God he had announced his name correctly) and giving another polite bow towards the two females before him. “
I’m a sign language interpreter, primarily working for the government and live news broadcasts.
” And… that was it. That was all he could really think about in regard to talking about himself. What else was he supposed to say? He had an uncontrollable addiction to a mobile game app or that he was going to five them five minutes before they confessed that they loved him like a brother? “
Why don’t we have a seat?
” he suggested to the pair of them, gesturing towards the couches “
I’m sure more people will arrive soon and we will find out what we’re meant to be doing next. It wouldn’t make good television to have three people standing around and talking, would it? It would look much more relaxed and natural if we sat comfortably

park eunji

!

eunji didn't mean for her inquiry to spark an impromptu house tour, nor did she expect everything to happen so fast; starting from her entry, to meeting two other male contestants, and then quietly following the others as they explored the place. she didn't feel particularly comfortable with leaving the living room that was obviously meant as a waiting room, but she didn't want to stay behind alone with all those cameras either. the viewers would surely be disappointed watching her poor form awkwardly fumble about while waiting for the others. eunji wasn't a star of any kind; rather a trembling speck of cosmic dust.

one, who felt like it was lingering amongst constellations beautiful and grand.

some were even more intimidating than others though, which is why she spent most of the house tour clinging closely to the other girl. gayoung, opposite of eunji, seemed to do well in these social kind of situations, poise graceful and confident as they walked through the halls. she also seemed like a friendly person— not that the boys don't seem nice, but there was a difference in conversing with her and the ones she was meant to find a romantic connection with. less pressure, she thinks. or maybe, her heart just wasn't ready yet to confront the fears her insecurities weaved.

the image of an ingenue could only garner interest so far; it's true that the closer you are, the less of a fantasy you will see. and fantasies can never be a mirror to reality, the former often too perfect to encompass the flaws of the latter. it is why people can often be disappointed when meeting ones they have admired from a distance. eunji, she feared, was no exception. if she even could catch anyone's admiration in the first place that is.

"eunji, come look!"

eunji followed gayoung to what it appeared to be the girls' bedroom, eyes traveling across the interior, before smiling.

"it does, i like the colours. it feels softer and more cozy than the other rooms, too."
she hummed. the bedroom was bigger than expected, though she hadn't anticipated for it to have four beds either. her mind wandered over to the the girls who had yet to arrive, their identities a mystery she was nervous in unraveling. she just hoped they seemed as friendly as gayoung, wished all of them could become friends with one another despite being competitors.

"i wasn't thinking it'd be so... spacious."

"it's a nice house, still. it'll just take some getting used to, but i'm sure it'll be fun with you all. what about you?"

eunji nodded in agreement, before responding, voice soft and slow, as if she was gathering up the courage to speak still as she goes;

" i- it feels kind of like i'm taking a surprise vacation, only with strangers — but i am looking forward to these two weeks and getting to know everyone."
a small smile spread across her face. her gaze then turns to the stairs, a question in her mind. one she voiced in an almost whisper, just to not sound obnoxious. just to hide the nerves building up inside again.

"do you think any of the others have arrived yet?"

yoon sunoo

!

Actually interacting with other humans on the show within minutes of arrival was not on Sunoo’s original agenda. His original agenda had him hiding on furniture and avoiding his own existence entirely while not speaking with anyone. He expected it to work, expected to be able to pull it off somewhat easily. So another male actually noticing him and making the effort to strike a conversation caught Sunoo completely off guard.

Fast forward a few minutes and he found himself actively participating in said conversation. Found himself following the guy, now known as Junhwi, up the stairs to where the newfound leader and the girls had disappeared to. They’d arrived just in time to hear the question about the amenities.

The answer was no. He wasn’t expecting anything like this. That may or may not be because he wasn’t ever expecting to come here in the first place but thats a story for a different day. It was definitely spacious, he’d agree that much.

“I wonder if there’s a gym,” he mumbled mainly to himself but wouldn’t be surprised if someone else managed to overhear.

When the others went off to explore the upstairs on their own accord, Sunoo decided to do the same. He opened one of the doors in front of him, a door that turned out to be a bedroom door. He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to be in here but that didn’t stop him from walking further into the room.

He spared a single thought for the overall niceness of the room as he made a beeline towards the floor to ceiling window. Hands pressed against the glass, his wide and curious eyes feasted on the gardens below and the other wings of the house. And ah, there was a gym. Perfect. He could run and do weighted squats to keep in skating shape despite being in the off season.

Deciding he’d spent enough time in here, Sunoo removed himself from the glass, giving a sheepish look to the handprints left behind before turning and rejoining the others out in the hall.

jeon jihoon

!

Their brief tour around the second floor of the house still felt awkward after they were just strangers roaming around a luxurious house; while they were filmed for a reality show where they were supposed to find love in it; definitely was going to take some time until everyone felt comfortable around the others.

He didn’t put too much thought after the girls separated from the group; as he assumed they went to check their room as Sunoo seemed to have found the one for the guys. He followed behind the younger one as he looked at the bedroom they would sleep. So they were going to share a room and there was only one guy missing. And Jihoon wondered how the last guy would be. As he had already made an image on his mind of what kind of personality Sunoo and Junhwi had; an opinion that was made only made by their first impression and that hopefully would change as everyone got to know each other more.

Jihoon was going to ask Sunoo what he thought about the room but he took notice that Sunoo had already found something that caught all his attention as he was, well, plastered against the window. Whatever it was, Jihoon made the mental note to ask him later what it was, as he didn’t want to interrupt the guy in what he was doing.

As he exited the room, Jihoon wondered if someone else had arrived while they were upstairs. He walked towards the stairs and took a glance downstairs, taking notice of three newcomers waiting for the rest, so the group was already complete while they were gone. “The rest already arrived.” Jihoon announced before he started heading out downstairs.

“Sorry, me and the others were upstairs. I’m sure they would be here at any moment. But in the meantime, let me introduce myself. I’m Jeon Jihoon. Nice to meet all of you.”

  • hello, hello!

lee gayoung

!

she kept her gaze on eunji as she spoke, her gentle tone matching her demeanour. she really did seem like a sweetie; the quiet, angelic sort with a muted charm that took time to notice— for both parties. it was thus she gave her a nod and a small smile as soon as she had finished speaking, just to give her that bit of subtle affirmation. "do you think any of the others have arrived yet?"

"ah, good question..."
gayoung looked towards junhwi for an answer, though it was jihoon who spoke up and headed down first. she passed a glance between the rest who had been left upstairs and gestured to the stairs with a tilt of her head.

"well, let's go, shall we?"

jihoon, as expected, was already in the midst of introducing himself when they entered. very enthusiastic of him. she caught the last of his words as she entered, weaving past him and dropping into a half-bow as she approached the occupants of the couch.

"hello,"
she greeted, lips spreading into a casual smile as her eyes scanned the chairs for an appropriate place to sit.
"i'm lee gayoung, sorry for being late!"
maybe... by the bright-eyed brunette who had arrived while they had been touring the house? her gaze flicked to junhwi for an imperceptibly brief moment before she took a seat, hands coming to fold on her lap.

her eyes gave the room another once-over, noting the envelope still where junhwi had left it on the table, before studying each of the newcomers. it was quite an attractive cast, no? some a bit more striking than others, but everyone cleaned up well— perhaps it had been part of the casting requirements. her gaze lingered on the black-haired girl, an eyebrow raising slightly as she regarded her features. there was something about her that seemed familiar, yet in a way gayoung couldn't quite put her finger on.

well, maybe she'd know if she had a name to match to her face.

she smiled again as she added,
"have you all already introduced yourself? sorry, but it seems we'll all have to do it again."

ahn junhwi

!

"Ahn Junhwi, nice to meet you."
The third, more populated round of introductions intensified his feelings of being back in a college dorm — a wildly grander one than he'd ever seen, of course — and Junhwi stored each person's name in the library of his mind. Hopefully, he'd still remember them tomorrow morning.

He didn't doubt he'd be well enough familiar with all his new housemates soon, though. They seemed all to be distinct personalities in their own rights, even the quieter ones. His eyes lingered on a girl in a particularly bright pink outfit and an even brighter smile, before they swept once more across the room.

It was only when his gaze landed on Gayoung — at least one name down — that he noticed her looking at something they had all forgotten in the excitement of meeting everyone else: the envelope. Oh. The mysterious message. The poor writers were probably crying about how disinterested their cast were in it right now.

As the introductions wrapped up and conversation lulled to a slow silence, Junhwi decided to take it upon himself to remind them of the integral piece lying around on the table. He waited another moment, just to see if anyone else would do the favor, then shifted slightly forward in his seat to reach for the envelope.

"The letter in here,"
he began, looking up and making eye contact with Gayoung, now sitting across from him, before letting his gaze wander to some of the others,
"has anyone read it yet?"
A pause; everyone truly had skipped over that, it seemed. "If not, should we read it together?"

"Sure,"
the second guy to arrive — Jihoon, he reminded himself — spoke up first. Speaking up first seemed to be the man's pattern. Luckily so, considering they'd make for a very awkward group without at least one of those.
"Why don't you read it out for us?"
Asking others to take action was, clearly, also a pattern.

"Me?"
The question was more rhetorical than much else. Another glance around the table. "Okay, then," he obliged, finger daftly opening the enevelope and slipping the paper out before he even finished talking,
"I'll read it out now".
