Let's Write Together! \ouo/

rinne

Perpetual Regretter
Hello there! I'm rinne. I figure I should put up a search instead of lurking all the time, haha. I've been writing for about 8 years, and now I'm looking for a few rps, despite RL hounding me. My muse demands to be fed. eue

First off, requirements!

- Please be literate and use correct punctuation and grammar. I totally understand typos, and if your OOC talk is silly (as is mine, I promise), that's perfectly fine, but IC, I'd rather not be distracted from your great post and characters by stuff like that. Please?

- Be okay with playing a male character. I know, I know. But I'm talking about the main protagonists only. Obviously, we're going to have a lot of other supporting/minor characters (the more the merrier), so I hope that makes up for it.

- Maybe this is redundant, but I'd like a least a few paragraphs from my partner. Like, nice, plump paragraphs. (What can I say? They make me happy....) And if you wanna write a lot? Go wild, partner. uwu

- Keep an open window for communication (and maybe some silly ooc stuff). I'd really like to be friends with my partners, after all.

- Violence, language, dark themes, adult themes...that's all perfectly fine, but I'm not interested in writing out explicit sex scenes. Implications are good enough, hon.

- As far as frequency of posting, I'm pretty relaxed because I understand how hectic life can be. RL (sadly) has to come first. It'd be nice to get an estimated time of arrival posting, though. A few times a week is perfectly fine for me, and anything else is always negotiable.

- I'm fond of romance. Nothing instant, or anything like that. It doesn't have to be the main focus of the plot, because that can be...boring. But yes, I like a little romance in my stories. I usually do MxF pairings.

Okay! Did I scare you away yet? No? Good!

Now onto the fun stuff you've been waiting for!

I'm fond of most genres, excepting hard-core sci fi. My favorites are historical fantasy, fantasy, and dystopian, but I'll be willing to do any genre if it has a compelling plot and setting.

Right now, I'm particularly craving something a bit historical, and I do have some ideas for them too. However, I'll also have a list of pairings or setting at the bottom, so if you like any of them (or have any to share), feel free to let me know, even if it's not historical. Seriously. Throw ideas at me.

Here are some more coherent ideas of mine:

In a kingdom near the sea, an aging king has procured himself a new and pretty young wife. She's quite a mystery, having shown up out of nowhere without a single title to her name. Despite her status as queen, the king treats her as little more than a trophy wife, and she has little say over any decisions. The court likes to come up with their own theories about her, but the truth is more far fetched than they suspect--she is, in fact, a selkie. Abducted with her selkie skin as leverage, she leads an unhappy life despite the grand splendors of the palace, longing for her underwater home, fellow selkie brethren, and former lover.

There are a few possibilities for the opposing character to be played--he could be the prince who has suddenly gotten a step-mother younger than him, or perhaps the king's bastard child at the court. He might be aware of her circumstances and feel pity, or regard her as a curiosity. He could be a castle guard, tasked with making sure she doesn't find a way to run away, or maybe a servant or stable boy. On the flip side, he could be the Great Selkie, the ruler of the Selkies, who has infiltrated the palace in human form, hell bent on getting his lover back and having his revenge.

Two rival tribes have always been at odds with each other, often warring over territory. Due to their bitter rivalry, every child is raised to have great pride in their tribe and hatred for the opposing tribe. However, after a great tragedy befalls both tribes from a new threat, the two heads of the tribes decide to set aside their grudges and unite against the greater enemy. As a sign of their cooperation, they decide to have their eldest children wed, as they are near in age and same in status as the next tribe leader. However, these two have been raised in very different worlds with different ideals--and hold a fierce loyalty to their tribes. Will they be able to work out their differences and rally their tribes to defeat the looming threat? Or will they fail?

The Dark One has conquered the world with black magic and his army of dragons at his side. There is no one who can stand against him, and his forces raze down the opposition, time after time. The skies are dark, and the crops have long since withered. Famine and starvation runs rampant. In these desperate times, two children are born, foretold in prophesies of old. One is a boy, born to a common household. Gentle in disposition but with piercing intellect, his still waters run deep. One is a girl, born as the only heir to an millitant kingdom. Raised to be a warrior, she is stubborn and determined, with a heavy sense of duty. These two are the last to carry the Potential, a trait of ancient blood that allows a connection to dragons. The boy grows up to be the last Tamer, blessed with the ability to communicate and befriend dragons, and the girl grows to become the last Slayer, gifted with exceptional fighting prowess and magic to defeat dragons. From childhood they have a mental link, often sharing emotional upheavals or dreams, but never quite knowing the identity of the other. As adults they seperately set out to defeat the Dark One, and the villain sends out his forces to track them down and kill them. In the midst of being hounded by the Dark One's inhuman troops they finally cross paths...

This is a pitiful story about three people, three different players in a court. A young man, a faithful soldier to his country and sovereign. A young lady of low noble birth and a childhood friend of the soldier. A prince, destined for the crown and surrounded with everything he could desire, and yet never satisfied. The soldier and young lady have always been fond of each other--each other's first love. Years later, she is introduced to the court, and the prince is smitten and begins to pursue her. The prince soon realizes that she is in love with his personal guard, the soldier, and commands him to turn her affections away. Pained, but bound by duty, he struggles to obey, while the girl is caught between the intense affections of the devious prince and her feelings for her childhood friend who seems to be rejecting her.

Yeah. I know, I know, another cliche love triangle... I don't know where this one would go. And either male role would be up for grabs, and the atmosphere would change quite abruptly depending on which was chosen to be played mainly. A pairing with the soldier could have bittersweet and forbidden undertones, while a pairing with the prince would be more of a darker romance, with more manipulation, intrigue, and possessive love.

Robin Hood is dead, framed and executed for the murder of Guy of Gisbourne. After 15 years of Nottingham being overrun by thr corrupt Sheriff, the people are in despair. Maid Marian raises her son, keeping the truth of his parentage hidden. Despite her attempts to keep him safe, he takes after his father in more ways than one, and one day, the young man begins to attempt the wrongs that are happening in front of his eyes. He and his small group of friends become the new band of Merry Men. This doesn't escape the notice of the Sheriff, who has a certain protege to put into play. Guy of Gisbourne had a daughter, who was orphaned when he was killed. The Sheriff took her in as a ward and raised her, allowing her to believe that Robin Hood was the one to murder her father. In the public eye she is the adoptive daughter of the Sheriff, but in all actuality she is the captain of his guard and his right arm in the shadows. He has her infiltrate the newly formed band of Merry Men in order to destroy the legend of Robin Hood for good.

Just letting you know that none of these plots are set in stone, they're just there as defaults. I always enjoy changing things up, and adding new twists. Tell me your ideas! OuO

Hey Rinne, I'm Never! I'm a bit hesitant to try rounding up another roleplay with school and all, but there were a couple of your ideas that I was really interested in, so I figured could at least give it a shot... (:

The ones I was looking at were What The Sea Gave Me and Feral Instinct. For the former, I was thinking maybe a servant that stumbles upon the secret and promises to help, but is being watched by the king, or as another selkie tasked with bringing her home. With Feral Instinct, I imagined a sort of historical-ish thing, like early medieval Britain and Ireland, or something loosely based on that. I also might be interested in the RoyalxCommoner thing, maybe like a The Prince and the Pauper thing?

Oh gosh, yes yes and yes! All three of those are sounding excellent. For What the Water Gave Me, I think a servant might be more interesting, since that puts him at a greater risk of getting his head lopped off or something xD He'd be her only source of comfort from a forced marriage and a court full of people who whisper about her. ;u;

As for Feral Instinct, you've hit it on the nose--that was the kind of picture I was drawing on as well. ;o It could be based on those tribes banding together against a fictionalized version of the Romans. Kinda like the Picts, the Gauls, maybe a dash of druid magic?

And finally, a Royal x Commoner thing with a Prince and the Pauper twist....so maybe like, a royal who ends up having to blend in with the common folk because of some sort of coup? o3o

Yeah, that's always a risk for nosy servants... (x

The only think I see that may be an issue, though, is if this servant has to be male, I'm not sure how he could legitimately come across the secret. It would probably be a closely guarded secret, one I don't imagine her confiding to a stable boy or something, and the servants she would have the most contact with would probably be her maidservants. I suppose he could always pull a George McFly and be "bird-watching", but that's pretty creepy and I don't think she would particularly appreciate that, or the king, for that matter.

Oh, okay! I thought maybe my obsessed brain was just making that up... (x

That sounds really awesome! I'm a huge geek (obviously) so anything along those lines sounds great! I might would be a bit slower responding than usual because I would want to make sure I did some research on whatever I was writing, but if you're okay with that, so am I.

Yeah, something like that. Maybe being taken in by a village family and trying to blend in and not reveal their identity (maybe they or their father is/was a tyrant or insensitive to the common people, or fear being turned over to the people behind the coup for money). There might could be another character that finds out/is told about it, and could try to help?

Okay, I'm a huge fan of A Song of Ice and Fire, and the television adaptation is sometimes good. I know tons of the lore and it's pretty much my favorite fictional universe. Still waiting on that book six, though. So, I'd really enjoy plotting and participating in an RP based upon A Song of Ice and Fire. I'd prefer OCs, though wouldn't mind mentions of main characters if we want to place it at the same time as the events that take place in the story.

Hunger Games is another thing I'd be really interested in doing something about, though I've only read the first book in that series. I've seen all of the movies, however.

Anyways, those are my current interests from your list.

You're right, but I think there'd be plenty of ways around it. I imagine if he's a stable boy, she might not confide in him right away, but maybe one of the few freedoms she is allowed is to go riding, and he's always the one to saddle her horses. He might have a little crush on her in that unattainable ideal way, but she'd seem quite sad in certain moments, and if he's sympathetic enough to say something about it, they'd becoms something of friends before she would open up about her situation. Or he could be a court musician, not quite a servant, but he might be frequently entertaining her and her ladies in waiting. The easy way out would be him being a guard or an escort, though. xD

I feel you, whenever I'm doing something historic I feel the overwhelming urge to like...be accurate. xD I'm fine with that, but we could also simply cheat and make it an alternate universe esque thing so we have some leeway. xD

I could see it almost being more dramatic, like the royal escaping into the gutter, where they're found by some sort of street urchin. And they're sticking out like a sore thumb, so the urchin begrudgingly helps them out or something. xD

Hello! Both of those get a huge YES for me--I really do love ASOIAF. I do typically hold more loyalty towards the books than the show, so you've got me there. As for the Hunger Games, I've read the entire series and watched the first two movies. For both of these, I would also lean towards OCs, maybe with the canons here and there, but not as the main characters. Did you have any specific ideas or pairings stewing in your head for those two? ;3

Yeah, I can see that working with a stable boy. It could put him in that bittersweet position of helping her escape and be happy, but in the process never seeing her again (unless maybe selkie magic, but even if that does exist in this world, he wouldn't know about it.).

Yeah, maybe an alternate universe based on the real one?

Oh yeah, I could see the royal picking this urchin at random and trying way too hard, and the urchin being like "I don't know what kind of fool you are, but you're going to get us both killed..." (x

For Hunger Games, anything from one of the annual Hunger Games to the rebellion against The Capitol would work for me. I haven't thought of anything specific for this topic.

Now, on to ASOIAF...

1. Our OCs are apart of neighboring families in Westoros that have had good relations over the years until something mysterious and odd happens at an invited dinner. The head of both families, the host and the guest, are found dead at the event in some way. Both families and their retainers start pointing fingers at one another and things get real heated. Soon, madness will erupt and both families and their servants clash with the host family at the upper hand. Things happen, people are imprisoned, and the guests that escape the dinner return home to unite their forces to try and get back at the host family, while on the other side, the host family works on recovering from the battle and gathering their forces to finish the guest family off. (This is just the stuff going on around our OCs. Their choice is always their choice. Also, I don't think the main story would effect this one so much since this is more of a personal problem. Just depends on the location in Westoros this is set and who the Lord Paramount of that area is.)

Welp, there's one plot idea. I can come up with others if needed.

Yes! That all sounds great. ouob We've got some solid backgrounds done. And now....the hard part....making a decision. xD ;;; Any thoughts?

Wow, that's a pretty detailed setting, right off the bat! I'd love to hear any others, maybe with a little more focus on character dynamics between our two main characters. Also, besides the basics of nobility and intrigue, I also think asoiaf's specific unique flavors would be also interesting, like wargs, the red priestesses, or the faceless men.

Hmm... Well, I'm especially interested in the first two. I guess it comes down to genre, whether would prefer to go with a mild fantasy thing or vaguely historical. I'm good with either one, though of course I do have school to work on as well...

I may be wrong, but I take it you're wanting to write for the female character? If that's the case, I think I would be a bit more comfortable writing about the stable boy with his impossible crush than the son of the tribal leader married to the daughter. I could possibly work with their meeting or being engaged, though, and maybe end the story with their marriage? I just think it would be awkward for me to write from the perspective of a married man...

Ahahaha, okay, that makes it pretty easy. xD I guess we'll go with What the Water Gave Me? eue (Btw, there totes could be selkie magic, though like you said, he wouldn't know it).

Sounds good! Do you want to make up character sheets or just wing it?
I don't mind either way. o3o Maybe a really simple, barebones one?

That sounds fine. I just have a simple concept in mind anyway (actually based on a selkie character!) so any details will probably be fleshed out in roleplay.

Awesome! Can't wait to meet the bloke. xD I just tagged you in the thread. uwu

About the unique factors, all that would have to be done is to throw in a red priest into the mix as he would be participating at the court of the host family. After the initial chaos and fighting, he would end up being blamed for being the killer of both family Lords since his religion isn't accepted as much in Westoros and people would be more against him because of his beliefs and practices. He would be innocent of course and would be quite deceptive before his scheduled hanging, since if he can't save his own life, he will cause more problems for the two families by giving off deceptions. Obviously, both families would start pointing fingers on that, as well. They would claim that he was hired by the other to perform the assassination.

The real culprit would be a faceless man hired by another neighboring Lord that is hoping for the self destruction of both families so that he can gain both territories for himself, including all taxing profit of those lands. He plan to do that by appearing to try and put an end to the conflict and further make both of the initial families look like the antagonists so that the Lord Paramount would side with him and trust him to clean things up.

Now... our characters (depending on author's choice) would be some sort of relative in one of the families (heir, brother/sister of heir, cousin, etc.). Everything really depends on how they are and what they choose to do in the situations. Obviously, both would be devastated at the surprising deaths of their families' head. If things go smoothly, they would probably start seeing through the lies and see that things are a little more off than everyone thought them out to be. At that point, they might try to unify their families (or well, what's left of them) against the real antagonist. Beforehand, they could meet each other during the feast or around the feast since one of the families would be the visitor family and staying at the other's court for a couple days. That way, the characters would be familiar with the other when chaos breaks out... even though they probably will not like each other when that happens until they finally start seeing through things.

That would be for our main characters. This story would have many many side characters.

Feel free to add on to what I have thought out or even share plot ideas that you have if you thought of something.
