( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
Magic? Yeah it exists. Not how you think, not how it once was. Not anymore. No, it hasn't for a long time. Before the Magera were killed magic was the ruling force in the land, civilizations lived by it and thrived with it. Almost every single citizen knew some branch of it, elite city protectors knew multiple forms of destructive magic to keep their loved ones safe, magitech was naught but used to make everyday life easier. But of course things don't always stay perfect...they never do. For a time life was peaceful, war was kept to a minimum, and civilization was in a constant upward march. What no one realized was this easy lifestyle was what would soon lead to an age of strife, of chaos, of bleak darkness. For you see the lack of conflict caused people to grow soft and complacent. Not everyone, but the vast majority. Any monster attacks were snuffed out quickly by various groups of adventurers, the land governed so well by the Magera that none dared to start a massive conflict.

It was in essence a Utopian society, its people calm and happy with what they had. Though of course as they usually do all good things must come to an end. The upward march of technology coupled with the serenity would ultimately be what caused the crumble of society. It didn't happen quickly unfortunately, no. While the majority of the kingdoms were enjoying their times of peace the continent to the North had been building their armies, training for war. Training to destroy the Magera and claim their lands for themselves, to unite them all under one bloody flag. The Northern Karoi people believed that at the rate things were going it would only be a matter of time before society stopped believing in fighting and thus stopped training people for it on a whole. Leaving the bands of adventurers to be the sole front of humanities defense. In other words, they believed that it would boil down to two options. 1. The monsters destroying the cities and taking them over for themselves or 2. They took control.

Unfortunately they failed to see their flawed logic in their beliefs and soon started war on a massive scale, going down south to lay siege to any outpost, city, or kingdom that opposed them. Their main goals would be to slaughter each Magera in each main kingdom, thus solidifying their claim to the land. It was a long and bloody fight, one that lasted years, one many thought would never end. Despite their advanced technology they lacked the army to both use it and hold off the Kaori, and unfortunately they had both the technology and the manpower to use it. If anything it wasn't a war, no, it was a one sided slaughter that the losing side struggled to maintain a hold on. It would of been over much sooner had the Magera not fought alongside each of their people. Coincidentally, it would of also been far less bloody if they had of simply surrendered.

At the dawn of what was the final battle the final remaining Magera, an old greyed man by the name of Albion Pendledragon saw what needed to be done. He didn't want the same fate to befall his kingdom as it had the rest. He mustered the courage to do the one thing that none of the rest had, be the reason they were to proud or simply too stubborn, he took his own life to save that of his people. He marched to the front lines of the war before the battle even begun and slit his own throat as calm as day, finally ending a long and bloody battle. Hundreds of years passed, thus bringing us to where we are now.

Magic exists, yes. Anyone with common sense will be able to tell you that. Though not in nearly any capacity as it used to, at-least not as commonly. Everyone in society still possesses magic this is true. But now adays its simply used for menial tasks to make life easier beyond that of even what their advanced technology can do for them. It can be used for combat though in most instances weakly so. No, those with high magical prowess are usually indoctrinated into an army of some kind, a famous adventurer, or someone wealthy in high society. While it is possible to expand ones' field of magic through sheer training most are born with it. Those that are generally branded at the age of thirteen with a mark of power, dictating their higher status, and thus being held in higher regards in society. Those that aren't are considered rogue and a traitor to the crown, able to be arrested at will and even executed upon capture even they commit a crime of any severity.

These traitors are numerous, though not necessarily powerful they're scattered all across the Kingdoms and tend to live on the edges of society. Several have banded together in large groups, each with unique names, the most prominent as well as dwelling within the capital ofAleksa would be Apex. The Apex are primarily dedicated to stopping the rising monster threat. Though they also serve as a place of refuge and general mercenary group, helping those that need it and hiding them from the law. Slowly but surely their numbers are growing in an effort to go back to the way things were, before the Kaori took over and oppressed the people, when the Magera still reigned.

However not even with the Apex's efforts are things looking well for anyone. Despite the Kaori taking over the Kingdoms in an effort to keep them out of the hands of the monsters they did not however put forth effort to quell the ever growing hordes, at-least not enough. And with there simply not being enough official monster hunting groups any longer the monsters populations have more than tripled in recent years, and they only grow every day. Thus its left up to the Apex and the fair few remaining groups to both fight off the monsters and prove to everyone that if nothing is done, humanity on a whole will be wiped off the face of the planet.

300 FoM- Avena, 10 AM
It was your average sunny day in Aleksa, the fisherman haven't long been gotten to work, bakeries were putting out freshly cooked goods, and most children were sitting in class. Now a days most live their lives peacefully, the bloody battles of three centuries past often only spoken of as mere legend. Of course there are still those that are opposed to the Kaori's rule, however for the most part the vast majority have simply complied. While yes, things were bleak for quite some time with the Northern tribe coming into power, peace had once more settled on the land thanks to their armies protecting the cities and the outlying areas near them. Recently the issue at hand all over the globe has been so called 'terrorist groups' attacking Kaori outposts here and there and generally terrorizing villages on a whole. Though of course these are falsified lies for the most part, while there are a few people like this, most don't belong to any true freedom fighting group. None certainly belonging to the Apex. The vast majority of the sheep following the Kaori of course believe these lies. But those with more common sense, those that have witnessed things for themselves, those that know the truth do not.

For the most part these so called terrorist organizations more often than not are out risking their lives to quell the growing monster population, though admittedly raids on Kaori outposts are rather frequent this is merely to garner supplies that they need to keep themselves and those they shelter alive. Our story currently situates in the Capital of Aleksa, Sion, where the headquarters of the Apex themselves are rumored to reside. Though no proof of such has been found thus far of course. Nonetheless, the leader of said group, Dannar, lied in wait for any new potential recruits as well as a meeting that was to be held later that day, their groups size growing more and more each day. Usually this was done by a member of the group directly approaching someone who lacked the mark to meet up somewhere private or slipping a note into their bag, often it would prove the person didn't have magic and was simply trying to live life outside of the Kaori's bounds. People like this however were still offered shelter with the group, those that did have magic however were offered the opportunity to join the fight more directly as a direct member of the group itself.

At either rate those that were a member were given explicit instructions to head to the meeting hall at 12 sharp, the meeting itself starting an hour later to give everyone time to arrive. Those not involved in the group life would continue on as always, be they simply stopping into town travelling or should they actually reside in Sion. Or perhaps they were contacted and were here to see what the group was all about.

No matter their path, life in the Realm of Sanar seemed to take it's normal daily course. Another average simple day.

Ki'Tavi

"Ah Aleksa, how I haven't missed you in the slightest"

Ki'Tavi chuckled to himself as he made his way through the busy streets of the Aleksan capital, Sion. He had grown up in a small farming village a few days' journey away from the capital, but he had no desire to return to that place. Not that he would be welcomed back anyway. No, he wasn't back to visit his old stomping grounds, he was just here because....

Why the devil was he here again?

Carefully manicured claws scratched at his chin as he thought over the question. Aleksa was a farming country, which meant it wasn't typically a prime candidate for the Shadow Theif's mischief. However, he made it a point to give all the Kingdoms at least a little bit of attention. It was only fair, after all. As for why Aleksa now of all times? Well, simply because it was overdue for a bit of fun after he'd spent the last few years running amok in the other countries.

Although he wore an amiable smile as he weaved his way in between booths, people, and animals, he wasn't the least bit off guard. For you see, he knew every step he took was under great scrutiny. He was a Beast Person, making his way through the streets as if he was just a normal person, and that alone was enough to create tension. Not that he minded, of course. Let the tension build, it's not like he wouldn't enjoy a fight or three, after all. His ears seemed to turn every which way as he walked, keeping a close tabs on everyone around him, even a few that he suspected were likely following him.

As he walked the streets, he let his eyes peruse the windows of the various stores, already picking marks that he could go after later that night. Frankly, though, he wasn't expecting any big score. That, however, didn't stop him from filching the funds off a few unsuspecting people he passed. In most cases, he specifically went after those that glared at him when he passed. For their rudeness, they'd fund his stay whilst here, which made it so much easier for him to smile at them as he passed. By the time they noticed their missing finances, he'd be long gone.

A glorious smell soon reached his nostrils. Drawn like a moth to the flame, he found himself approaching a grilled fish stand in a shaded area between two shops. Given the man grilling made it a point to call out his price every time he peddled his wares, there was no mistaking that Kit set down the appropriate amount.

The cook looked up at Kit with uninhibited disgust. "We don't serve BeastPeople here." He said flatly before trying to shoo Kit away. Kit just quirked an eyebrow. "Oh, is that so?..." His tail swished behind him as his golden eyes stared down the cook as he took back his money and stuffed it in his pocket, leaving his hand there. "Shame. You missed out on some good business" he remarked before walking away without another word. The cook, smirking and quite pleased with himself, looked down to notice that three of his grilled fish skewers were gone while he had been staring down the Beast Person. Immediately, he spun around, looking for any sign of what thief had taken advantage of the staredown, but found none.

As Kit made his way to the city fountain, he withdrew his hand from the shadows of his pocket, pulling forth one of the fish skewers that had gone missing before. "Shoulda just let me pay you. Oh well, his loss" Kit chuckled as he sat on the edge of the fountain to enjoy his lunch. You see, this is one of the reasons Kit loved not being marked as a magic user. No one ever suspected him when this sort of thing happened.

Though, some could wonder how he did it.

The trick was the man was in the shade, no doubt because of the hot sun overhead. When Kit approached, he found himself also in the shade, which was exactly the place he wanted to be. All he had to do was pretend to reach into his pocket, when in truth he was reaching into the shadows themselves, for his hand to come out near the skewers. From there, it was a simple matter of grabbing them and pulling them into his shadowy realm before the man thought to turn around. Given the cook didn't dare turn his back on a beast person, it was made all the more simple, such that no one would have seen the trick unless, by some miracle, they had been watching from the rooftops, which likely was the only vantage point in which his hand appearing from the shadows could have been seen.

As he munched on his meal, he pondered what he'd do now that he was here. Thus far, Kit didn't have any real targets to steal that night, then again, the day was still young. He could take another look around once he finished his meal. The rest of the details could wait till then.

Declan K Nolan ~ The Devil's Hunter
  • (Location: Aleksa, Sion Marketplace. )(Mood: Guilty)
(Interactions: One Mean Ghost One Mean Ghost ~ Ki'Tavi.)
    (Mentions: )

Out of all the monstrosities he's come across, from treacherous mountainous ranges which lurked horrific abominations such as behemoth-sized trolls, hideous ogres, or granite-covered golemns to shadowy marshes concealing disgusting creatures in plain-sight. Nothing could compare to this one's unconditional exasperation it caused as it begun wriggling around Declan's bulky hand, ear-abrading squawks bellowed out from the Basilisk's tiny yet forceful lungs while it flailed its apricot-colored tail around like a strip of leather blowing in the wind. You'd think that such a little thing wouldn't be capable of creating so much noise but you'd be wrong! For nearly two and a half miles he had traveled with this 'mutant-rooster', he'd heard nothing but the same old irritating sound being repeated over and over again. "Berrcaaawwwk!" The Basilisk continued squalling through its ivory beak as Declan boringly kneaded the sides of his head, utilizing all of his patience to ignore the creature's wails while he was overlooking the magnificent township of Aleksa from atop his devoted stallion. Sunlight traversed alongside the shimmering waters as they clashed against the rocky shoreline of the harbor-side, famous fishermen/women and all sorts of intriguing personalities could be found in this homely village, including the contractor that wanted this damned chicken abomination that was bound around the back of Wrath's leather saddle. If it weren't for that fat-bellied cook stating he wanted this 'thing' alive then Declan would've been carrying around a warm yet less annoying meal inside of his stomach, at-least the gracious amount of coin being offered was somewhat acceptable for him sprinting around through muddy trenches and digging through dirtied burrows to find the canine-sized beast. "Maybe we can get some rest here while we're at it Wrath."

He happily spoke, fluffing his fingers through the back of his steed's mane as it galloped upon the dirt-road, transitioning gradually into a polite trotting pace as they entered the inner-workings of the village. Citizens near and far guided their eyes to the muscular monster-hunter, soft whispers leaving their lips as he crossed their paths, even some pointing in disbelief at such a man existing outside the realms of some epic fairy-tale, even Declan's unorthodox weapon caused quite a bit of jaws to become slightly unhinged from its gargantuan size. Eventually they reached Sion's marketplace where the lovely aroma of freshly prepared food caressed his taste buds with unparalleled delight, even taking so much as a small whiff of the sweet-smelling air would send goose-bumps down the column of his back. After a long journey, Declan accompanied his horse into the local stables before leaping off the saddle and onto both of his feet where he gave a soft pat to Wrath's muzzle before taking off its sturdy blinders and the rest of its weighted equipment before opening one of the many knapsacks and retrieving a cotton blanket which he draped over the horse's body. "Oh, right." He muttered, nearly forgetting about that well.. thing. Declan watched as the Basilisk flailed wildly underneath the blanket until he loosened the rope around its scrawny leg, catching it in the palm of his hand as he exited out of the barn-like structure with the Basilisk that carried about its ordinary behavior by cawing at passer-bys and trying to nip at them, each time getting a smack on its beak from Declan as it tried. It didn't take too long for the damned clever varmit to squirm out from his grasp, catching Declan by surprise at it tried to flap its wings as it moved lightly against the ground, tripping people in the process as it tried to make its sudden escape. "You bastard!" If it really wanted a chase then it sure as hell was going to get one!

Nearly stumbling over his feet, Declan watched as the creature soared over the outside furniture of a fish-stand, scampering its little feet onto the top of the tables while a group of citizens watched the monster-hunter leap through the skies and onto the top of the tables, absolutely demolishing each one as he brought his feet through the wooden material while leaping across furniture to furniture until he was able to capture the Basilisk after it had dived into a nearby fountain, wrapping its tail around its forearm as he stepped out from the pool of water. An immediate sigh was ushered from his lungs after stepping near a beast-person enjoying a skewer of fish beside him only for the Basilisk to have the last laugh and lunge at the trace amounts of fish and gobble them up. If that wasn't enough, the cook of the fish-stand barged out of his shop, obviously outraged about the damaged furniture until he stumbled upon the Basilisk wrapped around Declan's arm. "B-betsy? Is that you girl?" Oddly enough this thing was related to the store-owner somehow. "Betsy?" So you're the one who was looking for this basilisk." To think things couldn't get weirder, the store-owner quickly explained that this creature happened to be one of his many pets that would help him catch fish. After releasing the creature, it leaped into the other man's arms before letting out a scorching hiss at Declan, nuzzling against the fisherman's beard afterwards. "So, you're going to pay me right...?" Declan asked, crossing his arms as he raised his brow at the man. "Oh yes, yes of course." The keep's voice shuttered in excitement as he handed Declan his payment before rushing inside his store, leaving the monster-hunter standing awkwardly beside the beast-person whose meal was rudely interrupted by the scuffle. Feeling guilty, it was only appropriate for him to be compensated for his loss.

"Sorry about that, if it means anything to you i'll get you another one." If anything it was the very least that he could do for the poor fellow, although a slight frown emerged on his face after reading a derogatory sign nailed to the outside of the fish-stand, it was a bit strange for someone to keep something as irritating as a basilisk for a pet but not be willing to serve a beast-person. "Ha, don't worry about that friend! Besides someone as charismatic like me? Psh, he'll be giving you meals for free." Declan let out a haughty laugh as he gestured towards the store, keeping his hand situated leisurely onto the fashionable hilt of his weapon as he strolled to the front of the store, enjoying the cooked stench of food before sitting onto a wooden stool, eyeballing the basilisk in the corner of the shop as he awaited for the stranger to join him.

(Apologies if this looks bad, I kinda sped my way through this.)

Enavari
Aleska | Local StablesSion Market

Hooves. Enavari's ear twitched to the clip-clopping sound of hooves.

In retrospect, sleeping or trying to sleep in the local public stables hadn't been a bright or good idea, but what was he to do? He'd gotten to Aleska somewhere early in the morning and hadn't slept a wink since coming here to handle a job he'd been sent to take care of. Getting rid of a chimera had proved tougher than he thought. Two headed creatures had never been his favorite, especially if they were the carnivorous kind. The fact that thing had only been a cub in its earlier stages of adolescence had made the job that much easier but that much more annoying at how fast the feline, goat, snake thing had been. So when Enavari grunted and pulled his hood over his ears to cover the annoying sound of horses breathing and a rider dismounting he frowned in utter disappointment when he found he couldn't go back to sleep after but a minute.

"Great", he sighed and patted the slumbering steed by his side. "Looks like I'll be off Spooky. Take care of yourself ya hear?" The brilliant white steed only smacked flies with its tail in response before Enavari caught a whiff of something foul. "Ugh", he chuckled, waving his hand to clear the air, "I'll miss ya too, ya goof." He added with a gentle pat on horse's withers. Then with a stand and stretch that sent pops sounding from his knees up his back to his shoulders, the strange man let out a content sigh, then hopped over the gate and out onto the opening where sunlight flushed through the stable's entrance. Exciting the stables, shifting his poncho so it wore more snug the Matugna stopped and squinted. Something had caught his eye.

"What in the--?" He took a couple steps further as he watched things go flying. Stalls, carts, items, as something big charged after... he cocked a snow white brow in surprise. "That a Basilisk?"

"Berrcaaawwwk!"

"...Yup" he nodded, rubbing his chin slowly. "That's a Basilisk alright." From the commotion, he figured whoever was chasing after such a creature could use some help. Rushing into the market on foot took but a few minutes and following the unsurprisingly massive destruction made it but a simple task but to find the red bearded giant he'd only caught a glimpse of. Tracking the path to the fountain, Enavari stopped- seeing the creature had been caught.

Suppose I won't be needed after all then. But something else was and his stomach grumbled a horrible gurgle in reminder. "Oh, right. That." He'd forgotten about that. Getting rid of a chimera had done him good, refusing the pay from the farm that had hired him- had been foolish, even if the farm had suffered enough casualties to earn some sympathy pay was pay and he should've taken it.. It wasn't because he didn't need the money, even with the few coins he had all it amounted was to three apples and four oranges and he'd already spent half that buying some fruit and a refill for his canteen.

Looking to his palm and activating his magic, Enavari gave but a thought to the thing he wanted and in nothing but a second, the glass orb on the back of his gloved hand glowed a faint green then runes flashed to bring forth the few coins he wanted. Flicking through it with a finger he counted, then frowned. "Not enough for a full meal." It was a disappointment but it was something he wasn't unfamiliar with. Turning his attention back ahead the scent of food hit his nose and his stomach grumbled to be given attention.

"I suppose fish will have to do", he thought with a flick of his tail. Walking past a beast person, whom the Matugna only tipped his hood up in friendly gesture of a nod, Enavari took one seat over from the giant of the man not too far away. Curiosity peeked and he glanced his way and wondered how a human could be so tall and so huge. "You're a big one aren't ya?" He asked from behind his hood and when he turned to look the giant's way he had on a grin of one or two of slightly crooked teeth. "Never seen a human so huge before if I do say so myself", he continued and as he said this his tail flicked to the left and hit a bell to call for service. "Never thought humans could even get this big to begin with. No fangs or horns, no scales, no armor of thick skin, interesting one ya 're that's for sure", he added with friendly humor in his tone. Bright green eyes gave the man a once over and spotting the sword Enavari's eyes stayed glued on it for a few seconds before he turned his attention to the cook and slid all his coins down, only enough for one grilled fish. "You a hunter also, friend? Rare to find a fellow one often, specially in a place like this."

Ki'Tavi

Ki'Tavi was, surprisingly, not the least bit fazed as the basilisk tore through the streets and wound up in the fountain. No, he simply leaned sideways so the wayward creature didn't crash into him by mistake. As the mountain of a man captured the creature and brought it forth, Kit was less than pleased to watch as the creature snatched almost half of his skewer away from him. Ears pinned back in irritation, he was already sizing the man up to establish exactly what he intended to steal to make up for that transgression when the man, much to Kit's surprise, actually offered to replace the fish.

Of course, Kit had two more swiped skewers in his shadow pocket, but this fellow didn't need to know that, nor did he want to draw attention to that fact in the presence of the very fish monger he had swiped them from. His ears perked up when it became clear that this man was actually serious about replacing the twice-filched fish, and a coy smile spread over his features as he rose to follow the man-mountain into the shop. Frankly, he was curious to see how the fish monger would react to this new development almost as much as he was curious to see whether this large fellow actually intended to follow through or if this was some ruse. Should it be the latter case, he would likely wake up the following morning sans sword, armor, and money.

His tail swished behind him as he took his seat on a stool next to the man. "Since you seem to want to call me a friend... I suppose I should introduce myself... My name is Ki'Tavi, though if you would prefer, I also go by Kit." There was almost a purr to his voice when he spoke. His ears turned on his head as a new stranger made contact with his current meal ticket. Another Hunter? True, it was quite rare to find them these days outside the rare few guilds.

"Well well... A trio of hunters walk into a fish market.... There's a joke in there somewhere, but I'm afraid I haven't heard it yet" Kit commented as he scratched at his chin. Everything in his demeanor seemed calm, passive, as if his guard were lowered, but that was an act. Since he had already been through here once before, he knew where the shadows were, what his best escape route was, and more. Always, always have an exit strategy. It was a crucial rule to being an accomplished thief. While it was true, he did freelance as a Hunter from time to time, that was never his main source of income. Of course, he had no intention of letting these two know about his more illegal antics anytime soon. Being a non-branded magic user alone was bad enough, add his laundry list of crimes and he'd be lucky if he even got a trial.

The new arrival was another non-human, but unlike Beast People, this one was close enough to humans in looks where they weren't quite so mistreated. Judging by his meager monetary supply, he likely didn't have too much of value worth stealing, but the gauntlets he wore seemed worth watching. Kit always did have a knack for noticing things of value, though what exactly the value to those gloves was, Kit couldn't guess just yet.

Although both of these Hunters seemed friendly enough, Kit was never one to let his guard down. One hand seemed to be casually resting on his hip, but in truth his hand was in just the right spot where he could draw his RuneBlade's pistol form in an instant if things turned hostile. Not that he wanted to draw attention to them, though, given their unique properties. However, if he had to make an exit he'd use any means at his disposal.

For now, he stayed quiet, content to passively observe these two until he got a better feel for them..

Yikes, he sure must've irked him. He thought that contributing to his unfortunate fish catastrophe would relieve any prospective ill-gained tension between them but after impatiently nudging his fingertips against the counter-top for a time-honored minute or two in some uncomfortable attempt to preoccupy himself it was rather prominent he was dealing with someone who either wanted to remain alone or simply needed a bit of time to ponder Declan's deferential offer, not that he was bothered by it or anything. Beast-people had common tendencies of being shy around strangers and this was no exception when it came to humans, especially a six-foot burly giant like himself. Those like that feline-resembling creature rarely get along with others, not that they haven't tried or anything but more or less because of inequality that heavily manifests itself in a handful of cities across the Kingdoms, Aleksa was a very good example of this as citizens remained so bias towards people of different races that preconceptions were almost like tradition in parts of Sion which lead to the creation of a poor-end district, made for beasts and anyone alike. Political affairs aside, being a far seeking adventurer and prominent hunter, prejudice wasn't a form of ideology that he would ever practice as it lacked true reason and only promoted ludicrous hatred among mankind itself. Before he had the chance to engross himself further into the realms of everlasting brooding, Declan's ears immediately perked at the pitter-patter of footsteps behind him, soon being replaced by an anonymous voice that had presented itself adjacent from him, a voice that belonged to none other then the beast-person who presented himself as Ki'Tavi or Kit for short. "Kit" He thought, glaring his eyes across from where he was previously looking to take a meager glimpse at the willowy feline who spoke with a soft accent. He didn't know whether to be concerned or impressed with how he introduced himself, at no point in his life has he ever come across someone that could muffle his footsteps so gracefully, almost unrecognizable before he was within a ten foot radius of the Devil's Hunter until he was 'caught' by him. This sly individual wasn't even sneaking and he managed to catch him off guard, he could only imagine how close he'd be able to get to him if he was sneaking! "Dare I say, i'm a bit taken back by your choreography Kit. Vampires, Furies, and some of the sneakiest imaginable have never been able to get beyond fifteen feet of me without being spotted but you? Heh, you had me actually startled! It's a pleasure to meet you Ki'Tavi, name is Declan Nolan or the Devil's Hunter as the stories go."

Complacency underlined his voice as he courtly tilted his head out of respect, letting out a tiresome yawn as he looked away at the Chef vigorously preparing his meal that he could be smelt from a mile away. Never did fish smell so delicious until now, for such a intolerant bastard that cook definitely knew how to whip up a lovely dinner. For conversation sake Declan was rather satisfied with Kit's approachable demeanor even after his feast was short-lived, just went to show the actual solicitude that creatures like him were capable of."Glad you joined, it's always nice to have a friendly face around! Although I must say Kit, someone of your foot-work you must be someone of importance. You must've been brought up in one Hell of a guild, i'd hate to make presumptions but if i'm correct i'd have to say that you are either a well-trained thief or assassin, ha! Hopefully one that isn't for me though." Laughter rumbled from the depths of his belly as he replied, only ceasing upon noticing a lengthy figure commenting on Declan's astonishing physique. "You're a big one aren't ya?" This one was far different from Kit, not a beast-person or anything of the sort. Small-pointed horns barely poked out from the man's shadowy cloak, a mysterious vibe littered the atmosphere in curiosity as his features became more apparent especially his teal-colored skin that revealed his Matugna descent. Whomever he was, this one was sure perplexed by The Devil's Hunter mere colossal frame, one that was far different from regular humans. "Ha, a lot of grueling training and food-consumption sure did boost my growth spurts as a child. Being this big helps a lot when it comes to getting into conflicts that require a lot of endurance but sometimes it can be a curse if you're wanting to make companions, i'm happy to see that you're not too taken back by it." All of these new faces, he didn't know what to make of it! This was sure out of the ordinary considering how many people tend to avoid him but despite all of these weird encounters he was eager to share stories of courageous adventures, epics of monstrosities being slain, and ladies whom were swoon by his bravery, Declan's eagerness only grew further after discovering that both Ki'Tavi and the Matugna were hunters! What were the odds?!

"Me neither Kit, i'm nearly speechless. Well, it's a pleasure to meet a new face! Notably one that has a fine eye for craftsmanship." He remarked, patting the golden pommel of his broadsword after it caught the Matugna's dazzling green eyes. Declan was definitely yearning to boast, Hades Broadsword was truly a sight to behold! Wielding such a mighty weapon was nearly equivalent to carrying three war-hammers just from its weight alone, made it a heck of a lot easier to slice through abominations with the sheer force being put behind it. "Nearly weighs about 4 stone, constructed by competent blacksmiths and surprisingly doesn't rust which is pretty convenient being a hunter. It's just enough for me to wield it with one-hand without having issues while making any enemy deciding to try and steal it from me a pain in the ass!" Declan's attention lurked back at the Chef who ambled his way about to the three hunters, another look of revulsion boiling throughout his expression as he set his meal down, pressing his hands onto the table and looking at the Matugna and Beast-person as if they were lowly scum. "Great another freak and you! I thought I told you to get los-" The Chef's disrespectful voice was brought to a quick halt once a hint of Declan's exasperation was received by him, seeing the fiery aggression in his eyes was enough for him to apologize and quickly scramble for the coins laid out across the table-top before rushing to the back of the store-front, taking his caged basilisk with him as it continued to squawk to its heart's content. "So, Matugna. I don't think we've gotten to know your name, as for me name's Declan K' Nolan! I'm eager to hear of your travels." A light-hearted smile brushed his cheeks as he looked at him, rubbing his hands anxiously together before admiring the freshly prepared salmon dish in front of him. He could already taste the spice's scent looming from the meal, Declan didn't want to be rude but being as he hadn't had a proper meal in decades, it was only appropriate for him to start digging in and shoveling spoonfuls of meat into his mouth, enjoying every bite as it entered.

Sod and Nomura- Collab with Solemn Jester Solemn Jester and Mitchs98 Mitchs98
Location: Lockerton- Roughly 15 minutes from Sion.

Somewhere in the forest, not far from the city of Lockerton. What may have seemed like a bird of some sort was hovering beside a cliff. However, if one looked closer, they'd find a certain Apathetic undead man. Being held in air by a certain tiny dragon girl, or more accurately dangling by a rope, which was tied firmly around his waist.”Here monster monster monster, come get a nice tasty corpse! Hurry before Nom snatches me out of the way!” He warned, not wanting the monster he was trying to attract to miss out on its meal. Hopefully he'd finally be able to end his misery once and for all. Although his tiny companion probably wouldn't allow him to die so easily.

Nomura yawned softly as she casually dangled her friend over the edge of the cliff, pretty much looking like she was fishing with poor old Sod. Though of course Sod didn't mind at all and it made beating monsters up a whole lot easier. So far they had had no luck, usually they came right away to try and eat him. Today was entirely different however. "Try and be more enticing or something." She spoke. "This is a monster not a pet puppy." She said, sighing heavily and pouting down at him.

Sod sighed so heavily that he was a little impressed Draco didn't drop him right then, and there.”Make myself more enticing? What do you want me to do? Cover myself in honey, and do a mating dance?” He asked still hovering in the air suspended by a rope.”Come on damn monsters! This is no time to be picky!” He called crossing his arms, and giving a rather apathetic stare to the ground.”Maybe they're on vacation?” He suggested, and suddenly kicked himself hard off the side of the cliff. Now flying about like some sort of superhero. He figured if monsters wouldn't eat him maybe he could cause Nom to drop him on his head.

Nomura arched a brow at his response, "Sure if it'll help, I have a jar of honey in my bag." She replied. Of course, she was mostly joking, though she was also serious. If Sod would do it and it'd help why not? She was starting to get annoyed by the fact no monsters were showing up however, the petite draco sighing heavily. "Maybe." She said. She squealed when he suddenly kicked off the cliff, the girl scooting near the edge herself. "Don't do that you moron you'll kill us both!" She shouted, having a pretty firm grip on the pole. Growling she started violently shaking it, "Knock it off!"

Sod continued swinging about wildly, only slowing down to respond to Nom.”What do you mean? Just let go of the rope if you don't want to fall. You're a dragon tho, shouldn't you be able to fly?” His voice was empty and emotionless, as hollow as his soul. He kicked off the edge of the cliff once more, his body thrusting forward with all his might.”Besides! If you do fall you can just use my corpse for cushion!” He suggested as he swung back towards the cliff, smacking it so hard that he left an impression. “Huh, that a first...never seen flying hippos before.” He said in a rather clam tone as several odd shapes began to fly towards their location.”Nom, delivery's here! Did you order the extra obese monsters?” He didn't try to move from the wall. Finding it as comfy as any bed. Now he just hoped the monsters were smart enough to aim for the head.

Nomura stared at him as he mentioned her flying, "You know full well I don't have wings.." She responded flatly. She grunted softly and moved closer to the edge of the cliff when he shoved off again, glaring down at the undead man a bit. "I'm not gonna fall." She insisted. She looked up when he mentioned flying hippos, the girls eyes widening a bit. "That uh...that's...not the monster I was trying to attract." She told him slowly in a worried tone. She quickly whipped the 'fishing pole' forwards to unstick Sod, flipping him up onto the ground above just as the three massive beasts slammed into the cliff-side. "We should...we should run." She said, backing away slowly. Her sword wasn't sharp enough to cut the hide, and well, she didn't exactly currently have any useful powers. "Run or plan, probably run." She said, grabbing the sleeve of Sod's shirt intending to basically drag him along.

Sod let out a curious sigh in response to her confession these beast not being the ones she was looking for.”I swear that old man said the cliff east of Lockerton...or maybe he said south...you know. It may have been south..oh well my mistake. So uh..mind letting me go so I can get flattened?” He asked as she literally dragged Sod along. His body raking across the ground. But he didn't seem to notice.”Promise I'll cook you something yummy if you doo.” He bribed, knowing full well he couldn't cook her anything if he was dead. He could hear the overweight flying Beast still charging after them. Having already recovered from their crash into the cliffside.
Nomura looked at him rather coldly as he seemed to sort of admit he got the directions to the cliff wrong, the petite dragon sighing heavily. "Seriously." She spoke, sighing heavily. "Pay more attention next time." She insisted, starting to run faster as she heard it start barrelling towards them. "No I'm not letting you go stop asking." She said, knowing that his offer of food would be rather invalid if *he* became the food. She ran as fast as her small legs could take her, the beasts starting to close in rather quickly however. "What are we gonna do?" She asked, running definitely wouldn't be a viable plan for long.

“Well excuse the zombie for not paying attention.” He said pouting now as he was dragged about. Although he was also contemplating a plan of action.”You know, if you dropped me they might be to distracted eating my corpse to chase you down.” He offered as a solution to their plan.”Or we could just let them crush us. What's the point of going on anyway? This is a rather pointless existence.” Sod suddenly went limp just mumbling depressing things to himself now.”We live and little monster babies go hungry.” As Well as other things like,” we'll die eventually, why not make it sooner rather than later. Aren't you tired of running?” After a moment he snapped out of his depressed daze, standing up, and charging forward grabbing Nom in a rather personal manner as he carried her forward.”Apologies, its unfair for me to compare my pathetic existence to yours, and I know you'd refuse to leave me behind. So I'll find my own demise sometime when you aren't around to capable of stopping me.” He informed her now running at a surprising speed for a dead man. Of course no heavy breathing followed his speedy escape attempt, as he didn't really need to breath. As he leapt over a log,” you know..i'm not exactly sure what those creatures are.. do you? Maybe they could be useful, I'm not much of a runner. Nor do I have any idea where we're going,” he informed her as he continued running, keeping a fair pace, and avoiding any obstacles with ease. Contrary to his statement of not being a good runner.

Nomura sort of ignored Sod as he started rambling on his usual mantra of wanting to die and so on and so forth, it wasn't really relevant nor helping at all so she didn't pay much attention. Though it WAS incredibly distracting to any kind of thinking she was attempting. She made a small squeaking sound as he suddenly hopped up and grabbed her up, wiggling a bit at how closely she was being held to him. "Thank you." She told him, actually about to suggest it herself, though was happy he seemed to care enough to protect her over his own petty desires. She shook her head however as he asked if she had any idea what they were, "No clue at all. Never fought them, successfully. I've only seen them once." She explained. "My sword couldn't penetrate its hide so I sorta ran, as we're doing now." She continued. "And well...anywhere away from them we can hide I guess I dunno..." She said, honestly not knowing herself. She did however look around for any caves or anything, "Maybe try to find a cave?"

Sod stared blankly forward. His empty gaze searching for a place to hide. But another idea was nagging at the back of his mind. He ran forward towards an opening in the forest, and leaping forward into a small range of hills. Luckily he landed with a heavy thud behind one of the hills. He quickly pressed himself against the hill. Holding Nom even closer, and covering her mouth just in case they heard her breathing. He waited a bit longer, watching as the beast passed. Once that was done he nodded solemnly. Then released Noms mouth,” apologies, I know it must disgust you to have the hands of such a vermin as I on you. But it was necessary, I don't think they'll be returning. But I do have a plan for defeating them. If you wish to do so.” Sod’s lifeless expression left no clue as to what he had planned. But it was almost always guaranteed to be something suicidal. At least for himself.

Nomura herself looked around while they ran trying their best to find something they could do to hide. However when he suddenly leapt she clung to him lightly, not actually sure where he was jumping to seeing as she was looking the other way. She blinked a few times as he put his hand over her mouth, watching the weird hippo creature pass by too. "It's okay, we'd both be doomed without you." She assured him. "And...no I'd rather just get back to town, we have a meeting today after all." She said, that, and she knew that Sod's plans were usually decently lethal for himself. Or at the very least incredibly dangerous seeing as he was still alive.

Sod sighed, his shoulders drooping down to further express his disappointment.”Very well, I guess that's only fair. Wouldn't want to keep others waiting...so which direction is Town again?” He asked clearly having gotten mixed up in the chase. He turned in circles before finally plopping down and crossing his legs, resting his elbows on his legs, and face on his hands. As depressed as ever.”Well, when you figure that out let me know. Until then I'll be here contemplating my meaningless existence.” He told her as he stared off into the distance. His lifeless eyes seemingly searching for some sort of clarification.

Nomura didn't pay much attention to his depressed demeanor. Let's face it, he was always depressed. Why should she really care much at this particular time more than she normally did? She shook her head and sighed slightly herself as he mentioned losing direction of town, looking around a bit before pointing in a direction. "It's this way." She told him, standing up. Once he stood as well she would walk with him towards Lockerton, hitching a ride on a cart back towards the Capital. "Really Sod please pay more attention next time.." She said. "Though it was kind of my fault too I guess." She added, looking off to the side. And thus, they started their journey back to town, Nomura keeping an eye out for any more of those odd monsters.

Enavari
Aleska | Local StablesSion Market

Appreciative of the help, Enavari offered Declan a toothy smile as he moved his hood down to reveal snow white hair and bright cerulean eyes. "Thank you, Declan. Can't tell ya how nice it is to have a meal after running around a whole night prior handling a job. As for my name, well friend, call me Enav. And from your talk it sounds you've met my people of the other clans before." There was a hurried clatter of plate on wood, and with a swift hand the Matugna stopped it before his whole meal clattered. Watching the back of the store owner withdraw quickly before the giant's gaze leveled him again, the Matugna merely watched the human leave, his smile less tooth revealing but still just as live.

Taking a bite out of his skewered fish, the Matugna's tail waved left and right as he chewed and savored each bite of his meal. "Kit was it? Pleasure to meet ya to mate. And aye, I hear ya. It's not often ya find a trio of hunters meeting in a town like this together for a meal." Slipping a hand under his frock, he pulled out a strange jug full of liquid and after unscrewing the lid Enavari took a swig of ice cold water, sighed and screwed the lid back on before placing back under his coat. He chuckled, "Strange times we live in, don't ya think?" And without another word he bit into his meal and ripped off a large chunk that he devoured greedily. Uncaring for manners, and even less caring for what others thought.

"If it's a story you'd like to hear though", he spoke again after he'd finished and there was nothing left but bone, "I've got some I'd be willing to trade if you'd be willing to do so in kind." He quipped with a snow arched brow looking the giant's way then looking to the beast person's. "Ever been to the Hark Woods? It's a small forest not too far off from this place, why I'm here actually because I took a job there." And as he said that his tail moved. Slipped the flat, almost bladed like shape of his tail under the dish then with little to no trouble, flicked the plate that had his dish into a sink full of soapy water with a rather loud splash. "Hunting ain't an easy job friends, sure you know just as well as I, that the price is only as good as the client that wants the job done. Job I took today I had to hunt down the cub of a chimera. Nasty little things back on Zeoni, different also. More fierce, while the one I tracked here was just more agile. Not the biggest kill I've had, but not as easy either. Rare to find them where I'm from but most of the ones ya hunt down there are more attuned to the nature of Zeoni's harsh ways; generally tryin' to stay alive and not die. Far more ferocious when finding kill of their own is rougher with the competition they have around. For the job I took, the chimera cub had been causing trouble for a local town. Small little settlement, nothing big- just the occasional attack on livestock and the inability to actually trap and hunt it down. Frankly it would've been something I'd left for them to handle if I hadn't heard it'd started attacking some of the people as it got a bit braver."

Pausing he took a sip of water and then continued. "Anyway," he said cutting his story abruptly short after another swig, "How bout you two? Anything particularly interesting you'd both like to share?"

Ki'Tavi

Kit didn't let himself show any outward shock or surprise when Declan, probably unwittingly, hit on exactly what Kit's true profession was. The only reaction Declan got was a quirked eyebrow and a cock smirk, which neither confirmed or denied the accusations. Obviously, of course, if he was an assassin after Declan, the giant would already have breathed his last. Thankfully, the third member of this impromptu trio drew all attention off of his rather soft footfalls.

So he allowed the horned newcomer to be the center of attention. It would seem, at a glance, like Kit was just politely paying attention to the two others as they conversed. In truth, he was carefully appraising them and their visible positions to discern if there was anything of value, should he be so inclined as to take anything.

"Four stone, hmm? Not bad, but that seems a bit light." Kit remarked offhand with a coy grin. Of course, there was no way Declan would know about the RuneBlades, much less about their less-than-perfect weight mechanism. No doubt in that giant's hands it would weigh significantly more than four stone. Then, he turned his gaze towards the horned man. "I hope you dealt with the cub's mother too. Not sure about the ones you're used to, but the ones here tend to have some maternal instincts. Could be trouble later on if momma finds out you killed her cub" He remarked casually as he checked his nails for dirt. In that way, monsters weren't too different than normal animals. A pissed off momma Chimera though could be significant trouble for most people.

Even though the other two seemed happy to share about themselves, Kit seemed to be a bit more withdrawn. He wasn't nearly as intent on sharing his every dirty little secret with two people he just met. After all, there was always the chance they'd ask too many questions and lead to things that were better left unsaid, like the fact he wasn't marked as a magic user at all...
