Biography

Birth Place:

Welwyn

Date of Birth:

Feusen 30, 980 C.Y.A.D

Nationality:

Northerner

Personality:

Put simply, Lann is a bright and energetic young man. He often unintentionally lightens the mood of any situation by making a fool of himself or by leaving openings for others to do so. Because of his comedic and sometimes simple minded nature, he has been called a dunce by more than a few of his peers. Despite being playfully insulted on a regular basis, he only shows initial offense towards snide remarks before returning to his usual cheerful self.

2 Positive Traits:

- Is kind and empathetic, often making the sorrow of others his own before proceeding to try and help

- He has a tendency to just follow his gut which allows him to make decisions more quickly than some others might

2 Negative Traits:

- Unfortunately, Lann is quite gullible and can be decieved with relative ease. Although if he's lucky, a ruse will float right over his head in a way that protects him from falling victim to it

- Always following one's gut can often lead to unwanted consequences. Lann is no exception in this matter.

Weaknesses:

- Nothing noteworthy that wasn't already mentioned

History:

Lann knows virtually nothing about his past dating back to more than 2 years ago. His earliest memories were waking up right outside Durward with a little blue dragonling sleeping on his chest, before being offered a temporary place to stay by a kind innkeeper. Although she insisted that Lann could stay as long as he liked, he politely declined. He had his sights set on exploring the world which was, at the time, completely new to him. Perhaps he would find clues to regain his lost memories. While wandering from settlement to settlement, Lann happened upon a recruiter for the Norhad Swords. Siezing the opportunity, he immediately applied to join as a trainee. From here on, Lann unknowingly intertwines his destiny with others whos' actions will inevitably decide the fate of the world.

Occupation:

Trainee

Life Skills:

- Can sustain himself proficiently in a wilderness setting

Material Possessions

Clothing and Attire:

- The outfit you see in the picture

Personal Items:

- A steel dagger

- Magic gauntlet made out of a hardened form of Lann's own spirit energy which he uses to channel his Artes and command his familiar. Connected to the tattoo that occupies the same area along his left arm. Purely aesthetic, really.

Combat Section

Custom Class: Dracmancer

Description: Dracomancers focus on using magic that both empowers allies and hinders enemies. They're all about shifting the tide of a battle by being absolute nuisances to their opponents.

Elemental Affinity: Light / Fire / Wind

Special Ability:

Familiar User - Lann employs the user of a familiar, a being who's soul is bound to someone. Lann's familiar is Mir, a spirit who closely resembles a dragon. He currently has 2 forms. The first form is a portable prsm-like object that Lann can use to manifest Mir's second form. Mir's second form is his true physical body. In combat, Lann casts his Artes by channeling spirit energy through Mir via their bond. Lann and Mir share ALL stats and can be considered as one entity as far as targeting goes. If one gets hurt, the other gets hurt as well. For clarity, an IC post would list Lann and Mir's current stats under a single "Lann & Mir" heading. In other words, Mir's presence in battle is pretty much purely aesthetic. Technically though, if both of them were hit by an AOE Arte, they would take double damage.

xaxmvk.jpg
Mirage.gif

Mental Link - Due to their connection, Lann can sense what emotions Mir is feeling and vice versa at almost any given moment

Runes Artes:

Arte level 1

Name of Arte: Phantom Step

Type: SPT

Description: The target ally is granted a light bending aura that allows them to leave ghostly afterimages in their wake whenever they move, confusing opponents. -1 to highest physical EVA roll of the target and +1 to lowest physical ATK roll of the target. Lasts 1 turn. Has no effect if all rolls are successful.

Elemental: Light

Price: 5 Token points

Cost: 6 SE

Arte level 2

Name of Arte: Flash Breath

Type: PNM

Description: An extremely bright flash of light erupts from Mir's maw, causing temporary blindness to enemies caught in it. Enemy cannot successfully use any Artes on their next turn.

Elemental: Light

Price: 10 Token points

Cost: 12 SE

Arte level 3

Name of Arte: Sunfire Aura

Type: SPT

Description: The target is surrounded by a shroud of ethereal fire that does not mitigate damage. Instead, melee attacks against the bearer of the aura cause a backlash of fire that deals damage to the nearby enemy. Counters melee attacks against the target, inflicting 1 damage to the attacker. Lasts 3 turns on the target.

Elemental: Fire

Price: 15 Token points

Cost: 18 SE

Arte level 4

Name of Arte: Renewal Barrier

Type: DEF

Description: A bluish-green dome appears around the target blocking the next enemy Arte used on the them. If the blocked Arte is lower than level 4, half of the difference of the barrier and the enemy Arte's SE cost is granted to Lann & Mir. Because of the added effect, the barrier is not able to protect against level 5 Artes.

Elemental: Light

Price: 20 Token points

Cost: 24 SE

Arte level 5

Name of Arte: Shinryu's Protection

Type: SPT

Description: A radiant golden aura surrounds the target, granting them protection at the cost of Lann and Mir's spirit energy. This renders the target immune to damage however, as a consequence double the damage they would have taken is subtracted from Lann & Mir's SE. Lasts until Lann and Mir hit 0 SE.

Elemental: Light

Price: 25 Token points

Cost: 30 SE

Most of it is all set. You could start looking at it now to save time if you want.
Im expecting for you to demand modifications so don't hold back!
(Actually please hold back because I'll cry.)

The artes can come later. There will be no battling as of yet anyway. But I can approve the CS provisionally so you can start posting in the IC asap

Thanks for submitting your CS.

I will now be reviewing it. I will quote your post and insert any comments, questions and suggestions in RED and BOLD type. Let's get started.

- Mirage Keeper Gauntlet. Its dormant state is the tattoo on Lann's left arm. SO what exactly is this?

Combat Section

Character Class:

The Character Class Helps to determine the affinity your character has to certain Elements. It also shows what the Types of artes you can use.

These Classes are purely for OoC purposes and have no meaning in the IC. You may choose to have your character behave or act like your class is described.

The Character Class' are as follows, Please choose one and delete the rest:

The character class is completely ooc.

Mirage Keeper:

Description: Mirage Keepers can extract a fragment of an entity's soul and store it in a special prism-like container called a prismarium. This process is called imprisming. Once a prismarium is filled with the soul of a creature, the Mirage Keeper can use it to manifest a physical projection of the soul fragment's owner. The summoned entity is known as a Mirage. Mirages will retain nearly all traits of the entity it was made from including personality however, it will always bend to the Mirage Keeper's will.

Elemental Affinity: Light, Steel, Fire, (Mirage element) I am sorry, there is no such thing as a mirage element. All powers are broken up into the 10 elements

Types of Artes: PNM, SPT, EHM, (Mirage Ability Type)

Base Stats: HP 4 / SE 20 / CCA: 3 /// Please add 1 to each of the Types of artes you have chosen.

In order for the combat system to be used fairly, the rules and outlines must be adhered to, and not modified for personal use. The entire section below may only apply to your character however it does give him different advantages compared to all the others who have conformed to the outlines. I am afraid this will have to be removed.

Mirage Keeper Rules and Stuff

Imprism - When an entity is suitably weakened physically and/or spiritually, a prismtunity is created and a Mirage Keeper can then attempt to Imprism the creature. Imprism success chance depends on multiple factors such as the target's remaining HP, the Keeper's skill, or simply whether the target is putting up mental resistance towards the imprisming. It should be noted that some beings are unimprismable such as humans. OOC mechanic wise, I'm thinking Lann can acquire new Mirages by purchasing them with TP which represents him capturing them IC. I'm hoping to negotiate prices of Mirages as I present ideas for them to Shin.

Summoning - Calling upon the power of a Mirage is not without cost. In addition to a flat SE cost for performing the summoning ritual, the Keeper must allocate some of their SE to sustain the Mirage's existance on the field. The upkeep cost varies based on the Mirage. It should also be noted that there is no limit to the number of Mirages a Keeper can have out so long as their SE and general skill can support them. Lann's initial cap will be 2 Mirages.

Mirage Artes - A Mirage Keeper can call upon the abilities of their Mirages in much the same way Artes are used. There is a SE cost that is deducted from the Keeper's own reserves. Mirage Artes also possess power levels that can be considered equivalent to a Rune Arte of the same numeral value.

Stats - Each Mirage has its own set of stats, apart from SE which is shared with their Keeper. This includes their own ATK, DEF, and EVA die, as well as CCA. It is possible for a Mirage to grow stronger alongside it's Keeper through training.

Stacking - In addition to functioning as separate entities in battle, Mirages can magically anchor themselves to the bodies of their Keeper in a formation known as a 'Stack'. A Stack combines the stats and abilities of the Keeper and Mirages making up the Stack, essentially creating a single powerful entity as opposed to multiple weaker ones. While this does result in a being with enhanced stats, Stacking can also leave the Keeper and their Mirages vulnerable. After a Stack takes damage on 3 occasions(3 posts where damage is taken), every occasion thereafter introduces a chance for the Stack to topple over. If a toppleable Stack takes damage, a d6 is rolled and if a 4, 5, or 6 is the result, the Stack topples. After toppling, all members that made up the Stack will be stunned for 1 turn(1 post). Stacking costs 1 CCA.

World-of-Final-Fantasy-Stack.jpg

Special Ability:

Size Shift - Lann can freely shift between a small and normal form of himself while retaining all of his stats.. This is mostly used to make Stacking easier depending on the size of the Mirages he is Stacking with. Also nice for hitching rides on a Mirage. The origin of this power is as unknown as his Mirage Keeper abilities.

Sorry, this seems to out of place to be approved.

480

Runes Artes:

Arte level 1

Name of Arte: Mirage Call

Type: PNM

Description: Summons a Mirage using its corresponding prismarium

Elemental: Light

Price: ??? Token points

Cost: 2 SE for initial summon as well as deducting from Lann's max SE while the Mirage is in play. SE deduction varies based on Mirage. Example: Lann has 10 max SE. After calling a Mirage with 2 SE upkeep, Lann's max SE is reduced to 8 as long as it is present in the field.

Current Mirages:

Name of Mirage: Tama

Species: Baby Kyubi

Element: Fire

Stats  - HP 3 / CCA 2

Upkeep - 4 SE

Appearance:

baby_kyuubi_by_badkarma87.jpg

When creating the Artes, you must keep all the initial values that are placed in the outline. Those cannot be modified.

The best thing for you to do is to incorporate the 'mirage' abilities into the Artes instead of having them separate.

Because you have a custom class, you must only use the Arte Types you have chosen. Meaning you cannot have an ATK/attack type when you have chosen EHM SPT and PNM

As I understand, 'mirages' act like separate entities, especially in battle. However there is no system in place for those kinds of things in this combat system.

Have a good look at the other CS's in this section. They will give you a good idea on how to proceed. Especially when it comes to combat artes.

In order to create some form of fairness and equal gameplay, I had to create a system that everyone has to follow. I would say the combat system is 80% outlines from me and 20% creativity of the player.

That's perfectly fine by me.

An rp with 0 structure usually doesn't end well. While I am a little sad I can't do my super fun beast collector idea, I definitely don't want to ruin what you've probably spent ages planning out. I think my next idea will be far more in line.

Sensory Link - If Lann concentrates deeply, he can tap into Mir's soul and utilize the dragonling's superior senses. So what is a Dragonling? It's not on the approved list of races or animals here also only 1 ability please.

xaxmvk.jpg

Runes Artes:

Arte level 1

Name of Arte: Phantom Step

Type: SPT

Description: The target ally is granted a light bending aura that allows them to leave ghostly afterimages in their wake whenever they move, confusing opponents. -1 to highest physical EVA roll of the target and +1 to lowest physical ATK roll of the target. Lasts 1 turn. Has no effect if all rolls are successful.

Elemental: Light

Price: 5 Token points

Cost: 6 SE

Approved

Arte level 2

Name of Arte: Flash Breath

Type: PNM

Description: An extremely bright flash of light erupts from Mir's maw, causing temporary blindness to enemies caught in it. -1 to all physical ATK rolls of the target for 2 turns

Elemental: Light

Price: 10 Token points

Cost: 12 SE

I would suggest to disable 2 ATK  for 2 turns OR Prevent the Target from using any lvl ATK Arte on their next turn only. Any of those 2 options are fine.

Elemental: Fire

Price: 15 Token points

Cost: 18 SE

This should have a duration of 3 turns on the target.

Arte level 4

Name of Arte:

Type:

Description:

Elemental:

Price: 20 Token points

Cost: 24 SE

Empty

Arte level 5

Name of Arte: Bahamut's Great Barrier

Type: DEF

Description: An egg-shaped barrier surrounds the target followed by the materialization of a radiant dragon which curls protectively around the 'egg'. Physical attacks against the egg will be completely nullified and most Arte attacks of level 4 or lower will be absorbed. If a level 5 ATK Arte clashes with the barrier, both the barrier and the ATK Arte will be nullified and no damage is dealt. Once the duration of the barrier ends and it has not been destroyed/nullified, the ethereal dragon will let loose a blast of energy from its maw equivalent in strength to the most damaging Arte absorbed by the barrier.

Elemental: Light

Price: 25 Token points

Cost: 30 SE

Just so you know, this isnt final fantasy, for all you know Bahamut is a little tiny bug. Just saying. Any DEF arte losses its power when attacked. Let's say 2 bad guys are attacking you. Each of them uses a an arte, but you can't tell what level it is. So just to be safe, you use the your lvl 5. You then figure out that the barrier still stands but the artes they used were both level 1 and 2 respectively. After that the barrier disappears. IF another bad guy decided to attack, you would have to conjure another barier.

@Shin Positron Laser
xD I was trying so hard not to be OP.

I understand.

My RP usually brings people characters down to a level that they may not have ever gone before. Literally, you start as a zero. You would not survive almost any combat without the help of others. That is what the RP is all about though. Journeying together through the World of Elegos.

Sometimes, the real test of Artes is when they are used in battle. But these artes are well within parameters as far as I can see. And since your CS was provisionally approved, you can post in IC anytime. Please make sure it is the right IC that I tagged you into. Right now we have broken up the group into even parts to increase everyones exposure to one another.

@Shin Positron Laser
Okie here you go.
Edits:
- Changed Mir's description in the special ability section so that he is defined as a spirit that resembles a dragon
- Changed Sensory Link to Mental link in the special ability section

- Made the changes you suggested for the level 2 and 3 Artes

- Changed the level 4 and 5 Artes. I tried to go for something more potent this time. Let me know if it's too much. I quite like them.

Arte level 4

Name of Arte: Soul barrier

Type: DEF

Description: A bluish-green dome appears around the target, blocking the next level 4 or lower Arte. If a block is successful, some of the sprit energy used in the Arte is siphoned, granting the target SE equivalent to half of the SE cost of the blocked Arte.

Elemental: Light

Price: 20 Token points

Cost: 24 SE

Arte level 5

Name of Arte: Shinryu's Blessing

Type: SPT

Description: The target is bathed in a radiant golden aura that lends them great spiritual power. The target's SE costs are reduced by half and they will always survive with 1 HP remaining while the aura is in effect. Lasts 2 turns.

Elemental: Light

Price: 25 Token points

Cost: 30 SE

I am inclined to Accept the lvl 4 arte, if not for the fact that I have a character who uses the same concept. So to be bias to myself, I am going to ask you to either remove the SE granting and its accepted or change its secondary function.

Arte lvl 5 needs to be redone completely. Too OP. Maybe not right now but it will be. Any 'Super Effect' you add must be balanced with a negative one. Duration is just a measuring point not a negative effect.

I apologize if I am being picky, but there are some people I have a feeling about that pick up the combat system very well, and others do not. So I must be harder on them when reviewing artes.

I am inclined to Accept the lvl 4 arte, if not for the fact that I have a character who uses the same concept. So to be bias to myself, I am going to ask you to either remove the SE granting and its accepted or change its secondary function.

Okie dokie. No problem ^_^

Arte level 4

Name of Arte: Renewal Barrier

Type: DEF

Description: A bluish-green dome appears around the target, blocking the next level 4 or lower Arte. If a block is successful, some of the sprit energy used in the Arte is siphoned, allowing the target to cast their next level 3 or lower Arte for half the normal SE cost. Lasts 2 turns and is destroyed upon a successful block. Is penetrated by level 5 Artes and physical ATKs.

Elemental: Light

Price: 20 Token points

Cost: 24 SE

Arte level 5

Name of Arte: Shinryu's Protection

Type: SPT

Description: A radiant golden aura surrounds the target, granting them protection at the cost of Lann and Mir's life force. Half of all damage the target takes is redirected to Lann and Mir's SE(calculation is always rounded up). If Lann and Mir have insufficient SE, HP is used isntead. Lasts 3 turns.

Elemental: Light

Price: 25 Token points

Cost: 30 SE

DEF artes cannot last beyond the initial block. So saying it lasts 2 turns does not work. DEF automatically can absorb multiple ATK artes in one go. That is why a secondary function is always under the microscope because DEF is already quite powered up. Technically it can take a lvl 5 arte without damage to the user, and physical ATKs do not work on artes.

Here's my suggestion for the lvl 4 arte

Description: A bluish-green dome appears around the target. If the barrier repels an ATK arte lower than the lvl of the barrier, the half of the difference is acquired by the user. Because of this, it cannot withstand anything higher than level 4 however.

e.g. lvl 3 arte ATK vs Renewal Barrier.

Difference in SE is 6. therefore the user gains 3 SE

Level 5 arte.

First of all, using 'life force' in this RP will Kill you. Spoilered lol. So change that wording.

The SE pool is much larger than HP, so take over ALL damage and the damage is doubled.

Keep the link on until you run out of SE. Because without SE artes cannot be used or continue to be used.
