Fantasy Kingdom of Acaolia (Private)

KittyQueen

Bring out the claws!

Prince Jasper stood next to his parents King Robert and Queen Isabella. It was a huge day, but it was something that Jasper wasn't looking forward too. He didn't feel like he was ready for a wife. He wasn't ready to take over the Kingdom when his father died. He wanted to be young and foolish again; but those days were long gone. He signed and leaned on the railing of the castle. His mother gave him a quick kick to the back of the leg. She hated when he acted like a boy. Jasper rolled his eyes and stood up straight. He brushed his hair out of his face and groaned. Today was the day his life ended.

Down bellow the girls lined up with a lock of their hair. The kingdom's sorcerer, a thousand years ago, had decided to make a ceremony for young women and men who had become of age to decide their spouses. It was now the tradition of the land. The sorcerer on this special day would light a massive fire. This fire was not like any other. It sparked many different colors like purple, green, and red. Jasper had to admit that it was very beautiful at times. The girl would approach the fire and drop their hair into the fire. After a few moments the fire would burn a certain color and a name would appear. That name would be their future husband. The fire was never wrong. It always picked based on what was good for the kingdom and what linage would survive the most. High borns always got high borns and commoners always got commoners. However, today would prove that fact a lie. After the ceremony there was a massive feast were the new husbands and wives would celebrate their new marriage. This was also the time when the newly weds would decide their future careers.

Jasper has always liked watching the ceremony but now that his name was amongst all the other names he didn't like it as much anymore. He had already met all the high borns girls and he didn't like any of them. They all wanted his money and the title of Princess. He just wanted a nice girl that cared more about each other then herself. He watched as girls slowly made their way to the fire and drop their hair in. Jasper's eyes stopped on a young lady. She was defiantly a commoner but she was pretty. Much prettier then any of the other girls. Jasper watched her approach the fire. She dropped the hair in. The fire burst high in the air and a name appeared. Prince Jasper. The kingdom grew silent. No one dared to speak.

(let me know if I need to change anything!)

Vanessa stood in the line of girls who were excited and some who dreaded growing up. Her father was a knight and her mother was a common Maiden. Her mother had cut a lock of her blonde hair and had dressed her in a pretty midnight blue dress and put a rose in her hair. Everyone seemed to be here which did not surprise her. She envied her parents who are so happy together, the sorcerer had done well with the ceremony. Now she could be happy she watched the brunette in front of her finish her choosing. It was her turn now.

she stepped up to the fire nervously and tossed her hair in. She closed her blue eyes and all she heard was silence she opened her eyes seeing Prince Jaspers name. How was this possible she was a commoner right? She glanced around becoming nervous. "This isn't a bad thing..!" she said speaking up nervously as tears running down her cheeks afraid of why they were quiet. Did they hate her because she was paired with a royal?

Destiny who was Vanessa's best friend came to Vanessa's rescue taking her hand. "Come, Nessy.." she said calmly protecting her best friend from the scrutiny of the others villagers. Vanessa followed Destiny away through the crowd making sure she didn't get lost. They got to the street corner away from the crowd and Destiny bought themselves a sweet drink from a vendor. Vanessa looked to Destiny. "oh..D thank you." she said with a frown. Destiny smiled gently. "It's okay, you're a sweet person I am sure the prince will love you." She said looking to Vanessa sipping her drink then added. "I am sure they will come and find you after this. You'll do great things, Nessy." Destiny said with a smile. Vanessa smiles at Destiny. "Thanks.." she said looking at her drink in thought.

Destiny shrugs than smiles happily. "You will be a great queen or even if not a queen an amazing princess," she said to Vanessa. Vanessa sighs responding. "I never cared for titles I just want to love and care for the one I will spend the rest of my life with." she said and Destiny smiled. "yeah you were always selfless that way Ness," she said.

All Jasper could do was stand there in stunned silence. He hadn't been expecting that. It was crazy, something that had never happened before. This wasn't supposed to happen; a commoner with a royal. His mother and father stood there in stunned silence as well. His father swept up to the railing and his voice boomed over the crowd bellow. "Please continue the ceremony." he said with a respectful voice. King Robert turned with daring speed to glare at his son.

"What did you do?" he demanded. Jasper shrugged, "I have no idea what you are talking about Father." he said. He honestly had no idea what his father was talking about. His father though didn't believe him. He rushed forward and grabbed Jasper's collar. "What. Did. You. DO?" he yelled in his face. His mother looked horror struck. She walked forward and laid a hand on her husbands shoulder. "Honey, Jasper couldn't do anything. It was the sorcerer. Probably some kind of joke or something." she said sweetly. His father glared at him for a few more moments before letting him go. His swept away clearly on the war path to find the sorcerer. His mother just looked at him with sorrow in her eyes. "It's okay sweety. We'll get this all fixed."

Jasper shrugged. He was pretty sure there was nothing they could do about it. The sorcerer never made mistakes. Everything was done for a reason. Jasper turned and raced down the steps. He wanted to find this girl. He walked though the crowd and made his way over to the vendors. He was sure that she was over here. People parted their way for him but stared just as confused as he was. There she was standing with who was probably her friend. Her pretty blonde hair was unlike any other girl in the Kingdom. He walked up behind her "Excuse me miss. I'd like to talk alone with my future bride." he said look at the other girl who was with her.

(hey did you want me to play the sorcerer that interacts with his father?? I can do that for you.)

Destiny and Vanessa sat together near the vendor who was not at the ceremony so did not see what had happened. Vanessa finally sipped her drink it was a sweet peachy taste which left her taste buds wanting more. She looked up noticing the crowd parting for someone to walk through someone possibly important. It was none other than Prince Jasper. Destiny was surprised as her but smiled. "I told you they'd come after you," she said standing up with Vanessa. The girls looked to see the prince approach them. He first spoke to Destiny.

Destiny curtsied and smiled. "Yes, Your Highness please take good care of Vanessa." She said waving goodbye to Vanessa as she walked through the crowd away from them so they could be alone. Vanessa turned looking up at Prince Jasper and smiled gently. "Hello, Prince Jasper I would never expect meeting you like this." She said holding her drink curtsying slightly. "I am Vanessa Hansford. My father is a knight." She said to him adding her families status in case he cared a lot about status. She did not exactly know him that well and he probably wanted to be engaged to a Royal.

She lowered her gaze in thought she wondered why the sorcerer picked her. What was there she could possibly give? The kingdom had everything they needed right? The thoughts circled in her head which made her slightly lightheaded thinking they would probably try to get rid of her. Her family sending assassins and playing her death as an accident. She may be a commoner but she wasn't stupid when it came to how the wealthy got rid of people they didn't want.

(Yeah! That would be great!)

Jasper watched the other young lady disappear into the crowd. His stomach stirred with unease. He turned back to look at his future wife. He looked her up and down still admiring the beautiful blonde hair. Maybe she won't be too bad. He thought to himself. He took a deep breath trying to calm his nerves. He really didn't understand why he was so nervous.

"Ah.. yes I think I've seen your father before. Brave knight. I'm sure he would be honored to have you as my wife." he said. He looked around and noticed everyone watching them. He hated that. "Come," he held out his arm to her. "We will go some where more private. I will have your friend be escorted to the castle with her husband after the ceremony is done. I don't want you to be too lonely in the castle." After she had grabbed his arm he began walking through the crowd. They still gaped at the couple. Some looked angry some looked awestruck. He wanted to shout at them but knew it probably wasn't a good idea. He made his way up and into the castle. He new the ceremony was still proceeding and that meant the throne room was empty. He felt bad for her because now the Kingdom was either going to hate her or love her. That was a lot of responsibility on someone that wasn't asking for it. He opened the doors of the throne room. A few servers raced over with some chairs and food.

King Robert stomped down the stairs in look for the sorcerer. He was pissed. His face was flushed red with anger and his hands tightly made into fists. Spotting the sorcerer he marched over. "What is the meaning of this? A common girl with the Prince? This must be a joke right?" he demanded.

Vanessa watched him turn and look to her. She thought he was definitely handsome but nevertheless, he was a prince and well she was probably nothing to him. She heard him take a deep breath. He was nervous too? she thought. She was surprised hearing him speak so highly of her father. "Yes, he is amazing Knight someday my brother George hopes to become a knight as well." She said.

She tried not to be bothered by everyone staring at them her cheeks flushed red shyly. Her blue eyes blinked when she heard him. "Thank you, yes that would be comfortable for both of us. I am sure my friend appreciates your kind gesture of letting her stay with me." She said taking her arm in her looking up to him as she thinking more of her friend than herself being lonely but also trying not to look at the others around her. She honestly was scared to look since this was supposed to be their special day she didn't want Jasper to be upset if he saw she was.

She walked with him to the castle an entered the throne room after him once he opened the doors. She was surprised the servers were so quick they must have been expecting them. "is that usually how things are?" She asked obviously new to the idea of being in a castle. The food did look appetizing she let go of his arm her wavy blonde hair flowing behind her as she sat down in a chair. she smiled at him wanting to make him feel special in her presence. "Come sit with me Prince Jasper," she said happily.

The sorcerer turned seeing an angry king. "Oh, your majesty I didn't think I'd expect you down here. and as of that, that is out of my control. The fire never lies." He responded calmly as he turned back around to what he was doing waiting for possibly another outburst tsk tsk what would his father have thought a king with no self-control.

Jasper smiled at Vanessa and he took his seat. He felt awkward. He didn't really know what to say. He grabbed some grapes and threw them into his mouth. When he felt nervous he always liked to eat, and sometimes he ate way too much. His servants kept rushing in and out bringing more food. Sometimes he really hated his servants because they never left him alone. Swallowing the grapes he turned and looked at his servants. "Please leave us. I will call for you when I need you." he said.

The servants bowed and curtsied then rushed out of the room. Soon they were left with only silence. "So." he began and forgot what he wanted to say. He grabbed a slice of bread and began to eat it. "My father is talking to the sorcerer to try and figure out what has happened. I think he wants to have the ceremony re-done. He thinks this was a mistake." he said. He took a lump of cheese and ate a big chunk from it. He swallowed and continued. "I won't be offended if you want to leave right now. I understand this isn't the life you wanted. I feel ashamed that the sorcerer would place such a burden on you." he said. Feeling embarrassed by all the crumbs on his shirt he placed the food down and brushed his shirt off. "Sorry I eat a lot when I'm nervous."

The King's face grew even redder. He took a deep breath and tried to control his temper. "Can't you fix this? Can't you make another fire and have the girl do it again. This has to be a mistake. What am I supposed to do with a commoner?" he asked.

She noticed he was nervous she wished he could make him feel better. She was nervous too. She watched the servants bring in a lot of the food. She watched curiously and smiled looking back to Jasper as she saw him eat some grapes. She heard him shoo his servants away. She wondered what it was like someone serving to your every beck and call even though it was probably a weird thought.

Vanessa saw the servant's bow/curtsy and leave the room. The room was silent and she looks to Jasper as he speaks. She responds and sighs gently. "but the sorcerer's fire never makes mistakes..." she said lowering her gaze not bothered by him eating she listened to him continue which she would always respond. "But...even if things change, right now those aren't the circumstances I will stay with you right now. as for my life, I didn't know what I wanted I just hoped whoever I am with I can make them happy. Being with you isn't a burden. Today was supposed to be a happy day for both of us." She said and she picked up a napkin wiping the crumbs off his lips. She looked at him and smiles. "it's okay I am nervous too. let's be nervous together." She said.

The sorcerer looked overseeing the king's face red. He heard his response and sighs. "Even if you wish for a do-over the same results will happen. It is no mere mistake. As for 'commoner' such a broad term, I must say why don't you treat her as you would for any other. The universe chooses who are capable of loving each other for eternity not me sire."

Jasper admired her kindness and understanding. He was very nervous and hated how he always felt like this. He was a Prince and was expected to always know how to handle situations however this one was very different. He smiled at her. "Let's try and over come our nervousness together and prove to everyone that you can be a great Princess." He sat there for a moment daydreaming. His mind wandered to the ceremony and how everything had happened. He felt bad that everyone had prejudged her even though they had never met her before. She seems really thoughtful and graceful. She seemed to want more than just a rich husband and Jasper admired that. Most of the girls he had already met were nothing like this girl. They only cared about his money and his royalty. It was nice to have a change for once.

"Let's show you to your room. You can get changed as well. We have many new dresses that you can try on." He said standing. He offered her his arm. "A guard has went to your friends house and is gathering her and her husband right now. They are to live in the castle as our permanent guests."

The King stared at the sorcerer for a few moments. "We'll see how long this lasts." he turned on his heels and marched away.

Vanessa smiled at prince Jasper she found he was certainly interesting. Even though a prince he didn't seem to act cold at all like most princes were told being stern, cold and heroic. She propped her head up with her hand smiling back to him as she took a piece of bread. "Yes, I like that idea. Everyone won't know what hit them.." she said full of delight happy being accepted by him. She looked to him seeing him sitting there probably thinking. Her future husband seemed so humble and loving. She had set the bread down and wrapped her arms around him in a hug. "Is it okay if I call you Jasper now?" She asked looking up at him with her blue eyes wanting to start to know and bond with him better. She loved his kindness and won't let anyone use him which probably has happened. She moved away as he stood up offering his hand which she took without hesitation.

"Oh, my room? and dresses? you must have certainly been expecting a bride." She smiled then looked to him happily. "That's wonderful! Do you think I can give a dress to my friend? I do not want her to seem unimportant since she will be with me." She said selflessly offering her friend a dress than thinking of wearing them all to herself.

Sorcerer watched the King seeing his stare than turn his heels to walk away. The sorcerer knew things would be fine. "the fire is never wrong. the fire chooses the most compatible." He said to himself as the king left.

Jasper nodded and gave her a smile. "Of course. I'm going to be your future husband. No need for such formalities." He said. He began walking towards the bedrooms. In the castle there were more bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas then he could count on his fingers. When he was little he used to run around and play with his friends. Sometimes they got lost and someone would eventually had to find them and bring him back this mother. He led her to her bed room. A guard was stationed outside. He nodded to the guard and walked through the door. "Of course they are your dresses now. You can do anything you wish with them." he said.

Inside the room there was a grand queen bed. It was beautiful with gold bed frame that was decorated with gems and stones. The bed was fitted with beautiful silk sheets and about five or so pillows. There were two dresses, a vanity, and walk in closet. By the closet there was also a bathroom. Inside the bathroom there was a bath tub and many different types of towels and robes. "Here it is!" he said and extended his arm out towards the room.

Vanessa smiles to him gently back. "Well, I am Vanessa, Jasper," she said as she followed him toward the bedrooms. There were so many her eyes wandered looking through the hall. She didn't know who all occupied rooms. She was curious where jaspers room was, but she thought it must be improper to ask. She looked seeing a guard stationed outside of the room. This room must be a big deal. She walked in behind Jasper when the guard moved aside. "Alright, are you sure I should have all of them. Won't people get angry at me thinking I have too much.." She said a bit worried since not once had she thought what she wanted she was always worried about everyone else.

She noticed the bed which seemed so comfy, how could she say no to all of this? She went up beside the bed and traced her fingers across the gems and stones in awe. "Its all so beautiful Jasper." She said as she looked at the vanity seeing her reflection. She then peeked into the walk-in closest seeing all the dresses. She didn't remember ever wearing anything like this. It all seemed a dream to her. She smiled peeking out of the closet. "Want me to try a dress on for you?" She said looking at him with her sky blue eyes.

Jasper watched her admire the room. It was one of their finest rooms in the castle, beside the King and Queens rooms. He even like dit more than his. "You can do whatever you want with the dresses." he said as he continued to watch her look in the vanity's mirror. He walked in and sat himself on the edge of the bed. He watched her check out the closet. "I hope you like everything." he said with a smile.

Jasper watched her examine the closet and all of the dresses. He grew nervous at her comment. He shifted his gaze away from her and then back. "Yes! I would love to see one on you!" he said with a smile. He turned around on the bed not daring to look. They weren't married yet and didn't want to break her trust. "I won't look I promise. Pick which ever one you like and if you like it you can wear it to the feast tonight." he said thinking about all the food that was going to be served. As a kid he always loved the feast because he could eat as much as he wanted and it was always very good.

Vannessa smiled at him the room was amazing in her opinion. She had moved away from the vanity and noticed him sit on the edge of the bed. "comfy Jasper?" She giggled as smiled and nodded to his comment. "Yes, I love it. Thank you so much." She said happily. She hadn't been thinking about the bad things she was thinking about the good things with being with him. He was so caring to her and she loved that.

She had walked into the comment and had asked him if he wanted to see her in one. "Alright! I will pick a pretty one, even though I am sure they are all pretty." She smiled hearing him say he wouldn't look and she could wear it to the feast tonight. "yay, hehe I alright I will put it on quick." She said as she picks out a ruby red dress with diamond's incrested in the ruffles of the dress. She put it on which took a few minutes and walked out of the closest over to the bed where he was hiding his face. "I am done.."She said calmly touching his hand.
