The halls of the Jujutsu command center were eerie quiet, a dreadful reminder that the days of arrogant higher-ups fervently arguing over trivial matters were behind them. Now the only noise that filled the halls were the footsteps and muffled whispers of the few remaining servants and whatever sorry excuses for sorcerers that the headquarters had managed to scrounge up.

The latter of which included Akio, who had barely been able to belive it when he'd been summoned to this meeting. He had known that the Jujustu headquarters had been in a dire situation, but the fact that they were willing to talk to him revealed that they were much more desperate than he'd assumed.

His eyes wandered towards the head of the room where the newly appointed Jujutsu Commander Gyōbu Ōtani sat. Akio's gaze lingered on the bandages that covered the man, secretly taking a small delight in the fact that this was what remained of the system that had rejected him.

This was his chance, the opportunity to earn the respect that had been denied to him his whole life. No longer would he be forced to sit by side as others reveled in glory.

A smile grew on Akio's lips, he wouldn't let this chance pass him by.

It was hard to believe how fast things had gone bad, just a few days ago it seemed everything was running fine as it had for gods knew how long. Now the world had turned upside down as the organization had been decapitated. the old men were all gone it seemed and everyone was trying to figure out who was in charge and who had killed everyone. Amaki despite being just a student was being send into the field in a more official capacity than simply trying to learn how to fight cursed spirits. No teachers, or guardians to step in if things went south she was now working officially as a sorcerer. Well it wasn't that unheard of for someone as young as her to become a full sorcerer, though normally those were people that were pretty much handed special grade for whatever technique they had. Someone who didn't have something flashy and was bound by a heavenly pact wasn't exactly special grade material even if in theory no curse could resist her technique. it didn't help that jujutsu high had been attacked and a lot of students had been killed or hurt, though amaki had been caught in it she got out without a scratch seemingly. Well her heavenly restriction had come in handy, being powered by healing energy did make surviving a building being destroyed on top of her easier to survive. Still Amaki had been busy healing those she could her RCT was likely the most advanced in the society. Still that apparently didn't impress people enough to promote her, you could regrow a limb and get nothing but blow up a building and you got a promotion. It was destructive capability, age, and flashiness it seemed that got people promoted. Still when people got hurt suddenly the not special grade worthy RCT was what everyone wanted and Amaki had been in high demand fixing up those she could.

Amaki would enter the room and see Gyōbu Ōtan seated there still bandaged along with Akio she believed his name was. Amaki wasn't exactly the most up to date with who was who in the jujutsu world, but well Akio was used as an example of a bad technique ruining everything. Well Amaki wasn't going to judge based on what other said. She preferred to assume negative rumors were just untrue, look on the bright side and be positive was how she worked. Thought she wasn't some overly loving Disney princess she knew curses were evil and the only good one was a dead one even the tamed kind were only somewhat less evil.

" I could heal you up if you want boss man, wouldn't take more than a minute or two" Amaki offered to the new commander not exactly showing respect but still it might be hard to get mad at someone who just seemed to be in oddly good spirits despite everything.

"Not sure that'd do much, to be honest. Not that I don't think its a bad idea mind you!"

The voice belonged to a rather unassuming man standing at the end of the table, setting up a box of donuts and several Styrofoam cups of coffee. His business suit made him look either like a lawyer or an office drone of some high end business and yet he still gave off an aura of someone who remained uncrushed by the bureaucratic toll such a life took on a person. Instead, he smiled at Amaki and held up a cup.

"Grabbed some coffee and some donuts for the meeting. Didn't know how everyone liked their coffee so I just got black. But!" He held up a paper bag. "Cream and sugar! Knock yourselves out."

Of course, despite his friendly greeting Kojo felt a tad more uneased at the sight of the girl. Mainly, because of the fact she looked fresh out of school. Kojo had heard of how brutal the attacks on Jiujutsu society had been, but if they were desperate enough to conscript sorcerers straight out of school and scrape up 'enthused hobbyists' like him, well...

Kojo wasn't a negative guy, but he knew a bad situation when he saw it. Of course, he also knew he shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Who knew, maybe this girl was the desperate firepower they needed to win this war they found themselves thrown into. Always good to be positive like that.

"Oh right, manners!" He bopped himself on the head with palm of his hand. "Kojo Mōmoku, pleased to meet you. Amateur Sorcerer- Well, actually, I suppose it's professional now."

He held up one of the cups.

"Coffee, anyone?"

Saying that Han was not creeped out of the Jujutsu command center atmosphere before was questionable but now it was a certainty. How the HQ let someone come here and do so much damage to it was something he would rather not think about, Han already had a lot on his plate to deal with, especially related to his bar or rather on whose terrain it resides. The constant whispering between those few remaining members of it was even worse, especially cause of his Hangover, though it could have been way worse. So in a sorry but presentable state, Han walked slowly to the room he was meant to meet in with the new Jujutsu Commander while dragging on his morning cigarette.

Honestly, Han couldn't care less about it, he wasn't a jujutsu sorcerer for a big reason, he just wanted a good fight that would allow him to further his martial arts, that's all that he cared for at the moment. But HQ being attacked, getting a new commander, and now being called in by him to do something for him, he had a hard time figuring out why. As he stood before the door he finished his cigarette hiding the remains of it in his pocket ashtray before entering the room.

A mummy, a scrawny looking guy, someone who if Han didn't know better he would call a kid, and an actual student... "I understand the rest, but why the hell is the girl here, she looks too young for this shit." Said Han under his breath. He understood why the others were here, but the girl looked too young to be doing this job, sure there were some jujutsu students who were sent on missions with different people but usually, they were upperclassmen or they were sent with a teacher, but not this lass. Han scratched the back of his head and walked further into the room. From the corner of his eye he saw coffee and donuts, Han simply shrugged at the site and took one of each nodded to Kojo, and went to sit down in the room, eating his donut and drinking coffee just looking at the commander. Awaiting his majestic truly important speech that gathered them here. Between him eating and drinking than said.
"Well boss, what have you called us for?"

Quite the while had passed ever since Hatsue had stepped foot into the abandoned halls of the Jujutsu Headquarters; Her first impression of the rundown building had not been at a large as she never before had visited the place. Naturally, the young woman heard rumors about the hall of superiors, of the men who sat in a circle and decided the fate of the crumbling society of supernaturals. However, she had never raised any particular expectations for the status quo as she was much too occupied with her own life in the past. She never had truly paid them any mind, any decisions and changes had been accepted without much but a thought and any announcement went ignored. Even now when she had been called to the supposedly 'grand' hall, she skulked through the pathways as if they were alleyways, having arrived much too early yet feeling no immediacy to make haste for the conference hall. Therefore, she explored the perimeter of the office, striding down the hallways with the click of the sole of her knee-high boots following her like a shadow. Her dark orbs glimpsed at the murmuring servants, hunched in groups at occasional, few dark corners. When they took note of her and bowed their heads in greeting, she smiled and bowed from her hip. However, she knew that as soon as she turned her back to them, the gossiping would continue, ghastly voices squeaking like mice and Hatsue would wonder with a scowl who might've forgotten to put out the traps to exterminate the low life behind her.
Her exploration would continue, fingertips gracing along the expanse of tall windows, large agape mouths who allowed the sunlight to fill the dusty hallways with warmth and luminance; She enjoyed the scenery outside yet felt trapped when her palm pressed against the glass and she could only sense the cool smoothness of the window, not the airy brush of a breeze. As she walked and walked on, the flow of time seemed to have outrun her quicker than she had expected once her eyes finally took a glance at her wristwatch. The leisure walk had shifted into tenacious steps, echoing and thundering between the walls as Hatsue was guided by the many pointers of servants all around through the maze of ever-intersecting, monotone hallways. While she sought the conference room in a haste, her heart seemed to have leapt into her throat, pounding away at her tightening gullet and allowing her cheeks to flare with an embarrassed heat. That when she finally arrived at the large doors and opened them in a meek gesture to first peak inside, checking if she wasn't interrupting anything important before allowing herself the final stride into the room, she held herself not with her usual confidence and her eyes would not rise from the floor. Soundlessly, she closed the doors behind her, turned to give a deep bow to the entirety present within the room before she swiftly motioned to a chair where she could take a seat.
While she sat, her legs crossed over another, her back leaned against the backrest and her arms crossed, Hatsue's eyes remained closed, unwilling to open and face her disgrace of coming late. One of her hands which rested on her upper arm, had caught a strand of her ebony hair between its fingers, twirling and curling it as she offered an attentive ear to her surroundings.

Ōtani quietly ignored the offer of healing that Amaki offered. He'd been subjected to enough reversed cursed energy treatment by now that he'd know that his current state was about as good as it could get.

"Anyway, the reason I've gathe..." He started to speak but before he could finish he fell the victim to a coughing fit. He spat a glob of red colored phlegm onto the floor beside him before continuing. "I've gathered you here is because the headquarters can't afford be as picky with its recruits as it has been." He chuckled slightly to himself. "To be frank, you are the best option we got. And for some of you, that says a whole lot about how desperate we are".

Akio, who at this point had risen from his seat in order to get himself a cup of coffee, were certain that the last remark was directed at him. If he didn't know that the commander was blind, he could have sworn that the latter looked directly at him while making it. Akio was just about to make a clever rebuttal of some kind when ōtani resumed speaking.

"I've received reports that a group of rouge sorcerers..." he interrupted himself to spit again, though this time it seemed to be an intentional slight. "...who think that they can walk all over us. I want you to find them and make an example out of them."

Amaki noticed the others looking at he and swore that one of them was talking about her, but she couldn't hear what he said just he looked to her and his mouth moved. Well it was no big deal Amaki was capable of handling things just fine she had been getting rid of cursed spirits for a little bit already, though well she had back up then, but still it wasn't like she just walked here a weak ago and was being thrown in the deep end. She had at least got up to her knees in things then got thrown into the deep end. You learned lots when you almost died, so Amaki was looking forward to the harsh fights and issues that would come up. Amaki was a bit glad she wouldn't be the only girl on this little team, she was more than aware of how weird a teen girl with two much older guys would look. Well it would look worse for the guys than it would for her, but still the less questions the better.

When the boss man refused her attempt to heal him she just shrugged. Others might have RCT and be more experienced with sorcery than her, but she was likely the foremost in RCT around given that was all she had. In truth she was seeming how close the two were and how one could bend both almost the same way. Still she was a long way from using positive energy for anything more than her technique. That was one good reason to want to be doing this she would be closer to death and pushed to learn more than she could where she was safe. It was all in the mind set and Amaki saw this as a positive.

Their orders, however were not exactly something Amaki liked hearing and her unease at them showed. She had hunted cursed spirits, and while she had fought other sorcerers it was never to the death, just till you were nearly dead. The distinction was very important when it came to the danger you were in and how you thought. Cursed spirits were evil and just that there was no making them good. They might have some kind of social structure, but cursed spirits were born of evil and their nature was evil. Humans however were not that, it was more complex and well Amaki didn't like being on a hit squad.

" Do we just need to capture them or do we need to .. well kill them" Amaki asked her nervousness and perhaps naivety about such and act showing. She wouldn't say she would refuse to kill, but she would like to try to not kill other people if there was a choice. " I mean i am pretty good at disabling people" She continued as if that might change anyone's mind.

"In my experience, and no offense to present company, but Sorcerers tend to be pretty nutty people on the average," Kojo spoke from where he sat across the table from Amaki. "Rogue Sorcerers tend to be either folk like me who want to do their own thing, or complete and utterly insane. I'd prefer not killing people, still haven't, but they might not give you as much of a chance as you'd give them."

He turned back to Ōtani, resting his fist under his chin with a thoughtful look.

"But I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised myself. HQ gets it's teeth kicked in, and you want us to hunt down some hooligans? Figured you'd want us sniffing around for any sign of who, what, or where for the people that did this."

He grinned.

"Ah, no, I get it. Either these hooligans are part of the attackers, or you want to cut our teeth on these guys to see how well we'd do. Am I close?"

Han looked at the mummy commander and spit out some blood, if honestly, this person was their leader in the jujutsu HQ right now then this society is dying.
"So pick up the riff rough of the jujutsu society, the vagabonds so to speak, and throw them at your enemies. Whatever they are in-house enemies or rogue sorcerers. Honestly, a smart move, 'cause you can say we weren't on anyone's orders in case someone calls for retribution, and that we ourselves are rogue sorcerers."
Said Han looking with spite deeply into the commander's eyes. He truly knew what the HQ was capable of doing, most of the time they were more vicious than the curses or rogue sorcerers if you stepped on their tail. But he had to speak his mind, especially to the little lass, not being able to kill and not wanting to kill are two different things one will get you killed, while the other will have you surviving.

"Sadly little miss, within rogue sorcerers it will be hard to fight them while not going at it with your full might. Most rogue sorcerers tend to go full force no matter what, especially the ones that are off the deep end of the spectrum of it all. Honestly, some of them are scarier and more vicious than certain curses. Not killing them might lead to your deaths, I'm not saying to sully your hands with their blood, but if the options are you or them. You better be on the surviving side or I will personally whoop your ass. Better get used to it, to the feeling of bleeding someone dry and them growing cold with the hooligans of the jujutsu society so you don't end up panicking when inevitably you will stumble upon a bigger fish in a bigger pond."
Ranted out Han, honestly, honestly, he needed to get that out of his system, and after doing so he moved to the corner of the room near the window opening it slightly so he can light another cigarette in peace awaiting everyone's reactions.

Amaki's question seemed to irritate Ōtani who clicked his tongue in response. "I don't care how you deal with it, just do something". Kill them, capture them, dip them in batter and fry them into tempura, do whatever works." He slammed his fist into the table to as if to punctuate his rant. The flare up of emotion seemed to have put some strain on his body as it started another coughing fit.

He turned towards Kojo and started addressing his questions when the coughs had died them. "No, this is unrelated to the..." he paused and hesitated before continuing. "... the current circumstances. " His voice was dropping with contempt, though it was more aimed the actual situation he found himself than any of those present. "But how can we expect people to listen or obey us when we let any rouge sorcerer who can barely tie their shoes not only disregard us but openly flaunt the fact that they're doing so? No, the main priority is to restore a fragment of peace and if we want that we have to earn back some goddamn respect."

"Besides," he muttered under his breath, as if he was embarrassed to admit it. "If we were to take on the group behind the attack in this state, they'd just finish the job."

Lastly, Ōtani turned to Han and nodded. "There's some truth behind what you say. It's good to see that there's at least someone left with a good grasp of strategy."

Akio had more or less stopped paying attention to the conversation after Ōtani's request. To him, it seemed the most obvious thing in the world. Just go and find the guys causing trouble, beat them within an inch of their life, maybe try and get some information from them, resume beating them some more and that'd be that. He just couldn't see why the others seemed so interested in asking questions like "why?" or "how"? Taking another sip of his coffee the gambler smiled to himself, lost in a daydream about what his clan (or what remained of it) would say when they found out about him being assigned a job directly by the Jujutsu Commander himself.
