The Swiftest Shot In The West
Eastern Empire - Weed Whackers Inc.

This RP is part of Isekai Hell. Should you find it interesting be sure to check out the linked tabs and should you have any questions feel free to drop them in the ooc or dm Novama Novama .

This RP takes place in, a small village (Minima) within the Eastern Empire roughly a two-day travel from the See Boarder. The RP will be defensive in nature and focus on the repelling of a See raid. The RP will end when the raid has been either successfully repelled or all player characters have been defeated.

You will have two rounds to prepare for the attack. After those two rounds, the raid could come at any time. This rp may reward you with a military ranking within the Eastern Empire's Military.

Those of you with Fae characters, do note that partaking on the side of the Eastern Empire may ostracise you from the See and earn you the scorn of other Fae. Also note Fae are currently despised by the majority of the Empire's population and most Fae in the Empire are enslaved.

Should you choose to join on the side of the See raid, you can be assured your character will not be killed. They may be captured should you reach 0 hp, but I will allow you a chance to escape following capture given this is a low-grade rp.

OOC Knowledge-

As this is a war-affiliated rp, the killing and torture of those soldiers raiding the village will not be considered Criminal acts to those defending.

As this is a war-affiliated rp, the killing and torture of those soldiers defending the village will not be considered Criminal acts to those attacking.

I will be using the effectiveness system for combat. This shouldn't alarm or worry you, I don't plan to be too strict. I hope for it to be a learning experience as well as to make things more fair combat-wise. Should it prove too complex I will revert to a more casual combat approach.

Should 2 players end up in combat with one another, duel rules will be followed.

This rp is designed for F and E Grade Characters

Posting will be on a 3-day rotation.

Nestled in a serene corner of the Eastern Empire, Minima was a tranquil farming and carpentry village. It lay far from the rumblings of the front lines of the ongoing conflict with the Fae See, a borderland sanctuary for its residents. Life here was simple and idyllic, with most villagers focused on tilling the fertile fields, crafting fine wooden wares, and enjoying a peaceful existence. The village was more than a collection of homes; it was a tight-knit community where everyone knew each other by name.

For the small garrison stationed in Minima, their duties were usually routine, bordering on monotonous. Four seasoned soldiers, their faces etched with the scars of previous skirmishes, shared responsibilities with two cadets who were eager to prove their mettle in a real-world scenario. Protecting this quaint village was not the most glamorous of assignments, and they often found themselves lulled into a sense of complacency by its remoteness.

As the sun cast its gentle morning rays upon Minima, the soldiers and cadets went about their daily routines. They checked their equipment, conducted drills, and ensured the villagers felt a sense of security despite the ever-present specter of conflict beyond their borders.

However, the calm of this peaceful morning was shattered when one of the soldiers burst into the garrison barracks, his face drained of color, and his voice quivering with fear. In his grasp was a Fae See scout, bound and gagged, whom they had captured near the village forest border. The scout's presence in Minima raised immediate alarm bells, and the soldiers wasted no time in securing him for questioning.

Captain Lucius, a grizzled veteran with years of experience in military strategy, took charge of the interrogation. With a mixture of veiled threats and promises of safety, the scout eventually divulged a chilling revelation – a raid on Minima was planned for midday, led by a significant force of See warriors. The news struck the garrison like a thunderbolt. They knew all too well that they couldn't fend off a sizable group of See warriors with their current numbers, especially so far from the front lines. Evacuating the vulnerable civilian population became their paramount objective.

The village's bells rang out, a hauntingly urgent tolling that reverberated through the usually peaceful streets. Panic rippled through the villagers as they were instructed to gather their possessions and make their way to the designated evacuation point.

The soldiers and cadets took charge, organizing and leading the evacuation efforts with precision. Captain Lucius, renowned for his strategic prowess, immediately began crafting a plan to buy the villagers as much time as possible. They'd establish defensive positions at key points within the village, hoping to slow down the approaching See raiders and create a window of opportunity for the civilians to escape. Reinforcements had been requested from the neighboring town but could they afford to spare any troops was a coin toss in and of itself.

As the minutes ticked away, the tension in Minima grew thicker than the morning fog. This tiny village, located far from the front lines, was now thrust into the spotlight of a conflict between two nations, and its fate hung precariously in the balance.

SASUKE BLACKHEART
Standing [F Grade Character] Titles [Construct, Homunculus, Visitor] Point Booster [Narrative Booster F]
Nestled in a serene corner of the Eastern Empire, Minima was a tranquil farming and carpentry village. Life here was simple, a peaceful existence carved from fertile fields and fine wooden wares. But for Sasuke Blackheart, a traveler from another world who had fully embraced this new life, simplicity was about to give way to chaos.

Cloaked in a hooded guise, Sasuke ventured into Minima hoping to gather information, but fate had other plans. An impending raid turned his quiet stroll into a frenzied scramble for action. Unfamiliar with the political strife between the Eastern Empire and the See, Sasuke instinctively sought out the leader amidst the chaos.

Captain Lucius, a grizzled figure with scars etched by battles past, commanded the attention of the beleaguered garrison. He had the air of a leader, a presence that drew Sasuke's focus. Unaware of the captain's name, Sasuke's assumption was clear.

As he approached, Sasuke raised his right hand to his chest, forming a closed fist over his heart, a solemn salute of respect. He whispered, "Sasageyo," before introducing himself.

"My name is Sasuke Blackheart," he declared with dramatic flair, casting aside his mundane past as Eric White. "I am no warrior, but I am here to lend my hand in this hour of need." He paused briefly to gauge the captain's reaction, his eyes scanning the outside of the garrison.

With a steely determination, Sasuke continued, "Tell me, how can I help?" His voice resonated with confidence, the cadence of a hero willing to embrace whatever destiny had in store for him.

Glacier

1694127689892.png

After his first adventures, Glacier had continued exploring this world, traveling along paths to various towns and villages. He learned more and more, one settlement at a time; knowledge was important in all aspects, and even more so in his own journey of expanding his capabilities.

It would seem Glacier's current capabilities would be put to the test, however, in this particular village.

While he was not keen on getting involved in a nation-wide conflict, Glacier couldn't abandon these civilians to a war-torn fate. As such, when he learned of the imminent raid, Glacier resolved to assist in the settlement's defense. He dearly hoped that this wasn't a mistake, but his decision was now set in stone... or ice.

Approaching the man who appeared the be the leader of the guards, Glacier spoke up with an inquiry, his speech methodical yet intervallic, "How can I assist... in the defense of this village? May I suggest that I, along with my..." He paused and tilted his head, before continuing, "...subordinates, act as a picket?"

LOCATION: MINIMA

Minima was a small village, hidden in it's own little corner of the eastern empire. Eriedeth had visited this village in search of materials or supplies she could use to start her journey to achieve one of her many goals. For now, that goal was to create herself a catalyst. Upon her arrival, it didn't take long for her to have heard of a raid, how this tiny village of all places got stuck in the midst of a fate involved in war she didn't know. Questionably it took her a moment to wonder if she should help. She could help, act as some sort of weapon engineer. Among other reasons, this could also assist her yet with another goal of hers: to become a inventor, but more than that, she could garner some sort of influence if she was able to assist the village with their weaponry. Could she try her hand at making the kinds of weapons earth had? The more she thought about it, the more she understood this would be an opportunity worth taking, not only her possibly helping with the defense or offense, but the chance to be more than just the mere factory worker she once was, a job that somehow cost her the life she had on earth when that chemical leak happened. With that, Eriedeth had made her choice. She sought out the guards and what appeared to be their leader. There were already two people speaking with them. At least one of them she was capable of identifying as a construct a fox that looked like it was made of ice with a blue glowing core in the center, the other she wasn't particularly sure. Even though she had spent 19 years in this life, she was still learning about this world's vastness. It just so happened that some were more identifiable than others. She walked up to the guards and the one who seemed to be their leader.

"Hello. My name is Eriedeth. I'm an engineer from Ryke. I heard of a possible raid. Would I be able to assist?"

SqueakWhat a nice day. He shielded his eyes from the sun, and felt the light breeze sweep past him. His little stint of extradimensional tourism had landed him right here, in the sleepy village of Minima. He leaned back against the bench that he had parked himself on, looking over at the soldiers with their daily routine. How he missed it, the feeling of being in a military troop, the daily hell that the drill sergeant put them through. He had almost laughed himself silly when he had been singled out back in the previous world, just because he never stood out. They completely forgot that a Cpl. Seo even existed in their platoon, and he was subsequently grilled for over an hour for 'attempting to be sneaky'.

He allowed himself a light chuckle. It was fun. So was wandering around like a common tourist, though. He only saw the world when he was shipped out overseas to participate in skirmishes, and in the eyes of war, nothing was ever as pretty as it was. Here, even in Minima, the colours were so full of life, and the rambling of the populace and the laughter of the children were far more present than in some sandy bunker he was forced to camp out in.

He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath of the fresh breeze.

No sooner had he done that, the bells began to toll. Those were not the sounds of an hourly reminder- those were the sounds of panic and danger. His eyes snapped open, and he straightened up, one hand fixed around his sword.

He couldn't escape from the fires of war for too long, it seemed. He allowed himself another chuckle, and stood up. No better way to shake off the rust than a little sport. He wasn't used to this sword, or whatever his new abilities were, either. A little tussle might help him ease into his new life a little better. He picked up his sword, and rotated his shoulder. RnR's over. Time to get back to work.

He dodged past the fleeing villagers, slipping through the bustling crowd as they sought safety. That was not for him. He had spotted someone who seemed like they were in command of this platoon of soldiers earlier. Probably the Captain of the sorry lot. There he was now, and, would you look at that? He was already surrounded by willing volunteers. How brave!

He approached, just in time to catch the man in a black hoodie declare his intent to assist with the defenses. Seo cut through the conversation with a gentle laugh, and clapped the man in black on his back.

"Not a warrior, but you've got the spirit!" He draped one hand over the Sasuke Blackheart's shoulder and leaned forwards, towards the Captain.

"Name's Squeak. Tourist from who knows where," he introduced himself, winking at the one named Ereideth, as he mimicked her own introductions. "Seems like a fight's coming, and I've got just the extra sword hand for it." He raised his sheathed sword with a beaming smile. "Command me as you will, Captain!" He finally pulled away from Sasuke Blackheart, and, following the latter's lead, brought his hand to his chest. "What was it he said? Sasageyo!"

~Luisa O'Sullivan~

1694156582018.jpegAs the first light of dawn filtered through the barracks windows, the quiet ambiance of the Town of 'Aliquantum Significantes' was disrupted by the arrival of a messenger pigeon. Its arrival heralded a dire message for Captain Aliquem, the steadfast leader of the town's defense.

With a sense of urgency in the air, Captain Aliquem hastily unrolled the tiny scroll tied to the pigeon's leg. Her brow furrowed as she read the message, which bore distressing news. Captain Lucius from the nearby village of Minima urgently requested reinforcements, forewarning of an imminent fae raid that threatened their humble farming community.
Captain Aliquem, her mind sharp and analytical, swiftly deduced the gravity of the situation. It wasn't just Minima that was at risk; this raid was strategically aimed at cutting off their vital food supply, a prelude to a more significant assault on 'Aliquantum Significantes' itself.

Torn between the duty to protect her own town and the responsibility to aid a neighboring village in peril, Captain Aliquem knew she had to make a tough decision. Sending too many seasoned soldiers to Minima could leave 'Aliquantum Significantes' vulnerable, yet ignoring Minima's plea was not an option either.
Her eyes settled on a particular recruit who had shown exceptional promise, one whose unique talents could make all the difference without significantly weakening their town's defenses—Luisa O'Sullivan. Captain Aliquem made her choice.

Summoning Luisa to her office, Captain Aliquem's voice carried the weight of responsibility as she conveyed the orders. "Luisa, your moment has come. You are to make for Minima immediately. They are in dire need of reinforcements, and the threat of a fae raid looms large. Your unique talents make you the best we can offer without jeopardizing our own defense. Go swiftly, and ensure that Minima receives the aid it requires. Remember, you carry not only our hopes but the future of our town with you."

Luisa's heart swelled with both pride and trepidation at the monumental task entrusted to her. She nodded resolutely, her commitment unwavering as she prepared to embark on a mission that would test her skills, her courage, and her dedication to safeguarding both her family's legacy and the security of 'Aliquantum Significantes'. But most importantly to her the ability to protect those civilians lives caught up unwillingly in the Sees terror tactics.

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
Wherever Shere went, trouble followed. That much, at least, was no different in this here world. After his latest adventure, escorting a merchant to the border between Ryke and the Empire, the fighter had given himself time to fully heal an injured foot. He wanted to enjoy the visit to a new land, to get familiar with the Eastern Empire and its people. He moved around slowly and eventually settled on a small rural village for a few days, away from the troubles of the world, where both the food and people were hearty and one's craft and neighborhood were the greatest concerns.

Minima had been beautiful for the short time he'd known it.

And now as the thud of the jackboot and hiss of the drawn blade approached and the people left behind their lives, praying they would not lose them in a more literal way, Shere sighed with deep sadness. He sighed as he helped the evacuation efforts, and sighed deeper and sadder as he turned back to what would be the front line. He did not care for war. He would rather take no side in the conflict, he knew not who was right and who was wrong, who was or had been the aggressor and whether reprisal might be deemed just, he would rather wash his hands off the whole thing.

But that would mean knowingly leaving people at risk of dying. And that he could not do.

So he strode, carefully wrapping bandages torn from use and bleached from washed-out bloodstains around his fists, putting himself at the service of Captain Lucius. And to his surprise he met with a couple of familiar faces, he recognized Blackheart and Glacier from the Adventurer's Guild Trials. "Ah what a shame, to meet again like this, when this town was once so nice. We must have a better reunion when we're done here." He left absolutely no doubt that everyone would make it out just fine and gave the two he didn't know a mock salute. "Shere's my name, fighting's my game, so that's what I'll be doing."

"To that matter, can we expect help from the south? If not, destroying the bridge over the river might be a good idea to hinder advances from that end. Making enemies wade through water might play nice with ice magics as well, eh?"

Narator Post 2

1694347381041.png

As the clock ticked steadily towards midday, Captain Lucius and his dedicated garrison had managed to evacuate over half of Minima's population. The village's streets had been filled with the hurried footsteps of families, clutching their meager belongings, making their way to safety with the garrison's guidance. Every available cart had been pressed into service to ferry the villagers to the designated shelter, but with the imminent threat of the raid looming ever larger, a significant number of civilians remained gathered in the town center.

In the heart of Minima, the town center had been transformed into a makeshift fortress, with hastily constructed wooden barriers forming a line of defense. The lives of those who had not yet escaped now rested in the capable hands of Captain Lucius and any brave souls who would stand beside him in the upcoming battle.

Captain Lucius himself stood at the forefront, surveying the preparations and the civilians who had come together, fear mingling with determination in their eyes. They knew that they had to be ready to face the impending assault, and they sought strength in each other's presence.

The soldiers under the captain's direct command had fanned out to the village's borders, taking up vigilant positions and awaiting any signs of the approaching See raiders. Tension hung in the air, and the soldiers gripped their weapons tightly, their senses on high alert for any indication of danger.

As the minutes passed, Captain Lucius's concern grew. He had sent a messenger pigeon earlier to request reinforcements, and now, as midday drew near, a pigeon had returned with a message. However, the news it carried was not entirely reassuring. The message conveyed that reinforcements were indeed on their way, but it was a single cadet who was en route to Minima.

Captain Lucius felt a surge of anger and frustration at the thought of being sent only a single cadet in their time of dire need. He believed that his men and the village had been left to fend for themselves, a decision that he found not only insulting but also deeply unsettling given the perilous situation they faced.

With his jaw clenched and determination etched into his features, Captain Lucius knew that, regardless of the reinforcements, he and his garrison would have to make a valiant stand to protect the remaining civilians in Minima from the impending See raid. Their courage and unity would be their greatest weapons in the battle that lay ahead.

Though as fortune so often favored the bold, so too did it favor the Captain. With but a single Cadet on their way as backup, the Captain was sure the battle had been lost. That the village would be crushed and swallowed by the earth. But just then, not one, not two, but five strange folk appeared to offer their aid.

Granted the Captain was skeptical but at this point, he had no choice but to take what he could get, and that he would.

"You're quite a colorful bunch. I must admit, your aid would be most welcome. The civilians have nestled into the town center and my men are standing vigilant around the town's border. We're severely lacking in numbers but with your lot and these... frozen foxes. Hmmm, we may just be able to hold them back!"

Gripping his fist tightly the man's knuckles produced a most gruesome popping sound "Yes, yes! Gaha! This will work! We'll fight back those Fae bastards and when we finish with them I'll go and personally teach that sly fox Aliquem a lesson! Ready yourselves and spread out. The Fae will be on us any time now! Sasageyo! GAHA I LIKE IT!"

Pointing to Shere and Glacier The man boomed out his orders "We cannot rely on any reinforcements! Dig in for a battle of attrition. Take to the bridge and drown any bastard fae that dares try to cross you!"

Glancing then to 'Sasgeyo' and Squek the man threw his hand toward the northern road "Secure the road to the north! Those crude See barbarians are slippery folk, who hide in bushes and trees. But that doesn't mean they won't swarm us if we leave them a road to do so!"

Finally, griping Pip's shoulder firmly the old man began to chuckle "As for you pipsquek! An engineer with that dainty frame? GAHA You Ryke folk are so strange! Get to the town centre and help the village folk reinforce should we need to fall back".

Stepping forward, with his hands on his waist the General basked in the morning light. War had come knocking on his doorstep and he was ready to answer the call once again. " What are you all waiting for? Go on GET!"

SASUKE BLACKHEART
Standing [F Grade Character] Titles [Construct, Homunculus, Visitor] Point Booster [Narrative Booster F]
Amidst the bustling preparations for the impending raid, Sasuke Blackheart couldn't help but feel a spark of optimism. The sight of villagers and newfound allies rallying together lifted his spirits. Many had volunteered to help defend their beloved Minima, their bravery shining brightly in the face of danger.

Notably, Sasuke spotted familiar faces among the volunteers – Shere and Glacier, companions from the Adventurer's Guild Trials. It brought a smile to his face to know that he wouldn't be facing this trial alone, that these seasoned adventurers were here to stand alongside him once more.

As Squeak, the enthusiastic newcomer, introduced himself and joined their ranks, Sasuke nodded approvingly. "A spirited addition to our cause," he thought, appreciating Squeak's eagerness.

With Captain Lucius' instructions ringing in their ears, Sasuke wasted no time. He turned to Squeak and nodded. "I shall head to the north," he declared, his voice resonating with determination. "But first, I'll need a better vantage point."

Sasuke informed Squeak of his intentions. "I'll be heading up high to get a better view," he said, his confidence unwavering. "Keep an eye out for any sign of trouble, and I'll join you shortly."

As he moved closer to a building near the north road, Sasuke stomped on the ground and chanted with dramatic flair:

"Earth and air, reveal the way,
With vibrations, I shall sway.
Map the land, both near and far,
Guide my steps, like a shining star."

With these words, his power was invoked, and the ground beneath him the air around began to resonate with energy, sending out ripples that would reveal the hidden landscape to him.

"Sensory Synthesis - Echoflux Relocation!"

With that, Sasuke ascended to a suitable vantage point, ready to provide crucial information to the defenders of Minima. As he gazed upon the village and the approaching threat, he couldn't help but think that, even in this new world, the grand narrative of heroism continued, and he was determined to play his part.

As Sasuke took to the roof his supersense skill 'Echoflux Relocation' would produce a most surprising result. From his vantage point, Sasuke could see that the village was still safe and that every guard was hard at work watching for any sign of the enemy's approach. However, with his Seismic Sense pulse returning, Sasuke became privy to a most concerning tidbit of information. That being, the village was already well under siege.

With his skill being limited in scope, he could sense 20 Fae hidden within the very soil itself, burrowing, tunneling, ready and poised to attack. How would he handle this? Would he inform everyone? Keep it to himself? Sasageyo!?

As Sasuke ascended to the rooftop, his heightened senses initially confused him. The village appeared safe, and the guards were vigilant, but something about his seismic sense felt off. It wasn't until he whispered while counting that the truth became clear. Twenty fae lurked below, hidden within the earth itself, ready to strike.

In a dramatic, resounding voice, Sasuke couldn't contain the urgency any longer. He shouted out to the defenders below, his voice hopefully carrying far and wide, "Beneath your very feet, the enemy lies! Twenty fae, concealed and poised for attack!"

Turning to Squeak, he swiftly instructed, "Squeak, warn the others! Make sure they know what's beneath us!"

And to those nearest to him, Sasuke called out, "Spread the word! Let every defender know of the imminent threat!"

With a fiery determination, Sasuke couldn't help but feel the weight of this moment. Raising his imaginary sword high, he gave a rallying battle cry, a call to arms for the people of Minima. "For Minima! For our home! Together, we shall stand against the darkness! Sasageyo!"

Glacier nodded to the captain, "Understood" Turning to Shere at the mention of ice magic, Glacier's ears lowered slightly, "My capabilities are... not quite at a sufficient level for such actions." He was doing his best to learn, though he had yet to achieve a breakthrough in his efforts.

"Well, it is time for us to take positions... is it no-" Glacier's train of thought was interrupted by Sasuke, yelling from a rooftop. He instantly perked up at the declaration of twenty fae under the ground, "I implore for you all... to stand back." He said to those present next to him.

Lifting his head up, Glacier let out a howl, his core glowing brighter[1]. Mid-air just above the ground, five shards of ice formed and began to rapidly grow, drawing on Glacier's power and nearby moisture in the air. They quickly formed into quadruped shapes, and as the details refined, there stood five [Foxes of Ice] surrounding Glacier; nearly identical to himself, yet smaller and without a core.

A varying sound, vaguely like a whistle, originated from Glacier as he communicated with his minions in the [Construct] language, "[Stay alert, fae hostiles underground. First objective is to protect human civilians in the village center, second objective is to eliminate any hostiles possible. Execute!]" No sooner had he finished when the minions heeded his command, speedily spreading out around the civilians.[A1] They would stick their snouts to the ground, growling, appearing agitated.

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
It was, at the very least, heartening that there was a seasoned military man to help protect the town and direct the adventurers. Himself included. Sure, he was confident in his abilities and moment-to-moment judgement, his fight IQ if you will, but he also understood perfectly well that his first instinct of charging at the nearest, meanest foe and battering them into submission wasn't necessarily the best strategic choice in a larger scale battle. He watched Glacier and Blackheart work their abilities and gave the fox a thumbs up. "Still more than what I can do. Lets go keep the peace, shall we?"

If they were already surrounded then he might as well try to break the encirclement some way. He followed the captain's orders and made his way towards the southern bridge, calling out to Sasuke: "Let me know where, I have a nasty surprise for the unwanted visitors! Everyone else should stay clear from it!"

He wondered whether the fey could hear them from under there or whether they were coming in blind, relying on the element of surprise. Perhaps some kind of signal from the ground forces before they'd spring up? If they could hear then they knew their plan was dead in the water the second Blackheart raised the alarm, and so he moved with care, every step light and his bodyweight centered, ready to leap to safety or into the action as needed.

ACTIONS:
1) Move down to the bridge position as instructed

LOCATION: MINIMA

The very moment Eriedeth had been told to help reinforce the makeshift base in the center of Minima, she wasted no time in doing this, because in the case of them needing a fall back, it would be needed. However, before she could even begin, a yell she thought had been heard from one of the people who was sent on patrol. Eriedeth believed his name was Sasuke, but what confirmed it was the [Contruct] Glaciers reaction. The fox of ice created miniature versions of himself, and Eriedeth believed it was also her time to shine. She wasn't stupid though. While she could attempt to invent something, there would be no guarantee it would work and no time for tests on the metaphorical invention, not to mention she'd have to think of something quickly. Something they don't have time or resources to do, so for the time being she couldn't invent something new. She wasn't going to sit back and let everyone else deal with the brunt of the work. While she couldn't invent something new, perhaps it would still be in everyone's best interest to create something. Within that moment, she temporarily abandoned her post, going from building to building looking for items, anything she could use. She makes it back to her post before using the items she had gathered. Various things from around the village and she hoped the villagers wouldn't mind the items Eriedeth had collected were a few glass bottles which were filled with alcohol and some pieces of cloth. With the use of [Educated [F] [Engineering [F], Focus [F], Physics [F] ] she had used those items to create a few molotov cocktails. As she prepares and braces for the incoming attack, she tells the villagers within the town center and any kids left among them to hide. As she grabs a piece of glass and prepares to light and toss the cocktails into any groups of fae. Waiting for her time to strike

SqueakOh, this was so much fun! What’s better, was that there was more fun coming up. Literally! He brushed his foot across the dirt underneath him. Burrowing underground, huh? He wasn't entirely sure what the See were, and what tools, if they had any, they used to dig their way here, but they did a good job bringing the attack towards them undetected. Given that the reports of their march had only come minutes ago, he wondered exactly how long they had been working on their progress here. Were there any communication lines back to the main force? Were they attempting to catch the defenders in a double surprise? Maybe the main force had been the trap- place defenders outside, and then spring the attack from inside.

He clapped his hands together excitedly. This was going to be great. How will these people survive? Will they succeed in the defense? Will they die? Will he die? So many questions, and so many answers yet to come!

But, orders were orders. Smiling, and gripping onto his sheathed sword, he sauntered gaily down the road towards the north, placing himself in between two houses. "I think they got the message, Mr. Blackheart!" He called over to Sasuke. "I'm good down here, myself!" His right hand finally moved towards the hilt of his sword, and with a rasp and the ring of steel, he drew the blade from its home. It wasn't a rifle, but it was a paintbrush all the same, one to paint the walls red with. "Think I got friends from down below over here?" He tapped his shoes on the dirt, then looked back up at Sasuke up on the rooftop. "Think they're going to say hello any time soon?"

Sasuke's keen senses had scanned the village and logged the information into his mind, but Shere's call for assistance drew his attention. He nodded in response to Shere's request and began to relay critical information.

"My friend, there are three of them that have already crossed the southern bridge, and they've surrounded one of our allies. Be cautious!"

Turning his attention to Squeak, who was positioned near the northern entrance, Sasuke couldn't help but appreciate the camaraderie in this dire situation. He responded, "Three fae along the northern entrance, my friend, and the closest one is right beside the wooden wagon in front of you."

Sasuke's expression grew serious as he continued, "As for our friends from down below, it's hard to say when they'll make their move. But be ready. We must be vigilant, for in this world, danger can strike from any direction."

With those words of caution, Sasuke remained perched on the rooftop, his eyes scanning the surroundings, ready to guide and support his newfound comrades in the defense of Minima.

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
He had to admit he was going to make this rather more dramatic than there was need for. He could just wait until the enemy popped out, expecting easy prey, and knock their blocks off like he always did. But sometimes, sending a message was just worth it. Something big and showy that said "things are not going your way", and maybe made them consider leaving while they can do so under their own power. And sometimes, he just felt like showing off a little. Shere waved his arms at Sasuke in acknowledgement, gestured for the guard to be quiet and then shooed him away to safety back up the road.

It took him a few seconds. He bent low to the ground, kneeling here and there, feeling the soil with palm and fingertip, not because it gave him any real information but it sure felt like it helped him focus and pick his spot. A geologist he was not, nor a sapper, nevermind the kind of powers Blackheart showed, so he just tried to more or less place himself with vague signals from his teammate. He also thought about it for a moment, then repositioned trying to keep the houses clear from the line of fire. It was the right thing to do.

He felt out the motions first. Raising a loosely held hand then slowly bringing it down, feeling the distance, the angle of the thrust, the dropping of his weight at knee and hip combined with the twist at the shoulder and elbow. He did this once, twice.

A sharp, forceful shout rang out. And as he shouted Shere brought his fist down as though he was striking through the very earth.

~Luisa O'Sullivan~

1694679953215.jpeg
The journey to the village of Minima had been filled with twists and turns, both in the winding forest path and in Luisa's thoughts. She had set out with unwavering determination to answer the call for reinforcements, but now, as she ventured deeper into the unknown terrain, her confidence waned. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was lost, that the dense woods around her had swallowed her sense of direction.

The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows through the thick canopy of trees. It was a disorienting play of light and darkness, and Luisa felt a creeping unease gnawing at her. She had checked her compass countless times, but it seemed to spin aimlessly, refusing to settle on a clear heading. Her heart pounded in her chest, a persistent drumbeat of anxiety. She had come this far; she couldn't afford to lose her way now. The urgency of Captain Aliquem's orders echoed in her mind, urging her to press on. She couldn't let Minima down.

In the midst of her turmoil, Luisa spotted a figure ahead. Relief washed over her. Perhaps this person could provide the guidance she so desperately needed. Her steps quickened as she approached the man, who appeared to be slumbering against a massive tree trunk.

"Excuse me," she called out, her voice a blend of hope and trepidation. "Sir, can you help me? I seem to have lost my way to Minima."

There was no response, no stirring of the man. Luisa's heart sank, and she slowed her approach. She could now see him clearly, and the dread that had been building inside her intensified. The man wasn't asleep; he had been brutally attacked. His tattered clothing was stained with blood, and the deep, jagged wound in his back told a gruesome story.

Horror gripped Luisa as she knelt beside the lifeless stranger. He had been left here, discarded like a broken doll, his life snuffed out in a moment of violence. She couldn't fathom the cruelty of such an act. Who would do this, and why? This was no soldier, this was but a traveler. He had no part in this war.

Grief and anger welled up within her, but she knew she couldn't dwell on it. Her mission was to reach Minima, to aid Captain Lucius and the villagers who awaited her assistance. Luisa rose to her feet, her eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. The forest remained eerily silent, as if it too mourned the loss of the fallen traveler.

Then, as if in response to her heightened senses, she heard it—the unmistakable sound of footsteps. They were approaching from behind, cautious and deliberate, growing steadily closer. Luisa's heart quickened, her breath catching in her throat. The forest had turned into a labyrinth of uncertainty, and she was trapped in its midst.

With a deep breath, Luisa drew her family's unique magical treasure, a relic that had been passed down through generations. It pulsed with latent power in her hand, a reassuring reminder of her purpose and abilities. She couldn't afford to be paralyzed by fear. She had to be ready for whatever awaited her.

The footsteps drew nearer, and Luisa tightened her grip on the spine of her magical treasure. Her training had prepared her for many challenges, but this was a test of a different kind. She didn't know who or what was approaching, but she was resolved to face it head-on.

As the footsteps closed the remaining distance, a shadowy figure emerged from the thick underbrush. Luisa's eyes narrowed as she braced herself for whatever lay ahead. The forest had become a place of mystery and danger, and she was determined to navigate its perils and continue her journey to Minima, for the call for reinforcements could not go unanswered.

"Halt! Stranger, state your name and business!"

Narrative Post 3

Shere's attack managed to eliminate three unsuspecting fae raiders with terrifying efficiency. His powerful blow had shattered the earth all around him and caused fissures to form, fissures that managed to both impale and crush those faes in range. Unfortunately, the damage to the area would leave Shere unable to follow through their tunnel system. Not that that was necessarily needed anymore given the loud quake had spurred the other fae to action.

Bursting up from the earth the Fae raiders made themselves known very quickly with a number of attacks felling those in range of their violent eruption. Two guards had been slaughtered alongside a very unfortunate ice wolf who had sniffed just a little too close for its own good. Not all was lost though for the Fae too had suffered some hefty blows with 4 of their own having been put down by counterattacks from the guards who were ready and waiting thanks to Sasuke's efforts. Seven Fae had already been disposed of. Three defenders. For now, luck was on our hero's side.

However, any sense of minute victory was soon put to rest when a young wyvern carrying a woman began to circle ominously above the village, just out of reach. A sight that, along with the current chaos on the ground, prompted many of the villagers to panic.

After Glacier witnessed Shere's punch into the ground, he gave a single word on the effective result, "Impressive".

As the sounds of combat began, Glacier concluded that the fae had struck; while unable to see his minions due to the blocking building, he knew that they'd dissipate quickly if their time wasn't replenished. Thus, he howled again, with only one shard of ice forming beside him[1]. 'That confirms one loss.'

The sudden sight of a wyvern brought Glacier's vision to the sky; he stood still, not only unsure what to do in the face of this sudden escalation, but also due to the strain of maintaining his minions.

With the fae now revealed, the Foxes of Ice would heed Glacier's previous orders. Moving out and splitting up to attack nearby enemies, they wouldn't stray too far from the grouping of civilians[A1]. Once within five feet, they'd leap forward to bite[A2].

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
"Thank you. It's good you're here to add numbers to our side, as well, though I certainly hope your pack is not at risk." Shere carefully stood back up amid the upturned dirt and shattered stone of the village grounds he had imploded with his bare hand, speaking to Glacier as his finger traced the path of the wyvern over the town. "You see that one, my friend? Seems important, keeping watch, too noticeable for a scout. I should like to take them in as a guest, if they come down to mingle." He flexed the fingers he had just used to demolish the tunnels and took a moment to survey the situation and think.

As far as he knew, he had taken care of the enemy advance on this end of town, but sounds of fighting broke out elsewhere. The adventurers were concentrated in the town square and up north, with the ice foxes at that, but only town guard was watching the southeast. And Glacier seemed safe here for the moment, if he wanted to avoid direct confrontation. That settled it, then, he'd stick south but might as well go ply his trade. "This coast is clear for the moment and I have no familiars to call my own, so I shall march to meet the enemy to the east. Excuse me and see you in a moment."

Off he went, steady and outwardly unhurried but covering ground as fast as he could with fists high and ready, rounding the corner of the village's southernmost home. And as he went he shouted out his challenge to the foe come looking for trouble where he had chosen to rest. "Here here! Come meet a real challenge if you dare, trade blows with a true fighter born and bred, trained and tempered by sweat and blood shed!"

Sasuke's sharp senses remained keen, even amid the chaos that had erupted around him. He felt the slight tremor coming from the south, a telltale sign of Shere's earth-shattering attack. A small, knowing smile graced his lips as he thought, "Shere has that area well in hand."

His attention then shifted to Squeak, who had just dispatched a fae raider of his own with swift efficiency. Sasuke's trust in his newfound allies was growing with each passing moment. However, his gaze turned skyward as he sensed the ominous presence of the young wyvern circling above. It was a threat that couldn't be ignored, but for now, Sasuke chose to keep this knowledge to himself. Revealing it to those who haven't noticed might dampen the morale they had built up thus far.

Instead, he continued his role as a sentry, vigilant and watchful. Turning to Squeak, he relayed the information he had gathered. "Two left at the northern entrance," he reported, pointing to the fae in front of Squeak and another further back. "You've got this. There's a group of three at the northeastern area of the village. I'll be on the move now. Good luck, Squeak."

With a series of quick hand signs, Sasuke whispered, "Echoflux Relocation", vanishing and teleporting closer to the village's center. His landing on a rooftop produced a resounding thud, but he wasted no time. His hands moved swiftly through the familiar gestures, and utilizing the echoes from his grand entrance, he uttered, "Sensory Synthesis."

Once more, he sent echoes throughout the village, assessing the situation anew. There were bodies, some motionless, scattered across the battleground, a mix of allies and foes. Despite the chaos, it was evident that they still held the advantage.

With a commanding shout, Sasuke addressed his comrades, his voice carrying the weight of determination. "Keep fighting, my friends! Victory is within our grasp. Let us not waste the lives sacrificed for Minima's sake!"

She had bore witness as one of the fae had shattered one of Glacier's Icey companions, that along with the fact the inturder was inside the make shift base caused her to freeze for a moment before snapping out of it. She was lucky for it to had been one within the fortress walls. After hearing Sasuke's dramatic and peculiar declaration, it was enough to keep Eriedeth from giving up so quickly and seeing what Sasuke's doing made her think to ask him some questions involving magic after everything was said and done to get some inspiration for her catalyst design, but that was to be done at a later date what mattered was what was happening now. And to know that they all had managed to get this far against such a raid was a relief, but she had a gut instinct that the lady with the wyvern would be very important, though that to her felt obvious. Regardless, it was time to make her attempt on the intruder who had killed one of Glacier's mini- lookalikes after all the center and base was under her protection. Picking up a piece of glass she had obtained earlier and one of the molotov cocktails she had made. She uses it to direct sunlight at the cloth-wick. As she was doing this, she walked 10 feet in front of where she once stood next to another one of Glacier's minions who had been in front of her. Once she managed to light it, she made her attempt to throw it at the intruder.

Luisa stood firm, her grip on the magical book tightening as she faced the Fae raider wielding the imposing greatsword. His voice dripped with confidence and menace as he commanded her to surrender. "Surrender now, girl," he sneered, "for you are outnumbered and surrounded."

It was true; as the raider spoke, ten more of his ilk materialized from the shadows. They seemed to emerge from the very tree trunks and bushes, like ghosts materializing in the moonlight. The odds were undeniably stacked against Luisa, but she refused to let fear cloud her resolve.

She squared her shoulders, her eyes locked onto the leader with the greatsword. Her voice rang out with unwavering determination. "To surrender would be to bring shame to my family name," she declared. "And beyond that shame, I have a duty to reach Minima. Civilians and soldiers are counting on my aid, and I will not fail them."

The greatsword-wielding Fae raider regarded her with a mixture of curiosity and disdain. "You're a brave one," he chuckled darkly. "But bravery won't save you now."

In that moment, Luisa knew she had to act swiftly. She couldn't allow the raider's threats to paralyze her. With a practiced motion, she opened the magical book and chanted the incantation inscribed within. The pages of the book came alive with ethereal light, and from its pages emerged the living chess pieces, each one a manifestation of her family's unique power.

Five pawns, dressed in pristine white, charged forward as the first line of defense. They were fearless and determined, though their limited defenses left them vulnerable. Behind them, five bishops with benevolent expressions emanated an aura of healing magic, ready to mend any wounds Luisa or her troops might suffer.

On either side of the formation, the rooks, resembling imposing stone fortresses, took up positions as guardians. They were unwavering in their resolve to protect their summoner and her cause. Finally, the knights, graceful and agile, poised with lances and shields, stood ready to engage in both offense and defense.

Luisa's plan was clear; she would use her living chess pieces to create an opening and confront the leader with the greatsword directly. Her heart pounded with adrenaline as the pawns surged forward, engaging the Fae raiders in a fierce clash of steel.

As the battle unfolded, Luisa's focus remained unwavering. She stepped forward to confront the greatsword-wielding raider. Her voice was stern, filled with unyielding determination. "I am not ready to die here," she asserted, her eyes locked onto her opponent's. "I have goals I've yet to accomplish."

The raider, taken aback by her defiance, met her gaze with a mixture of surprise and respect. With a sudden, calculated maneuver, Luisa summoned her living knights to her side. They charged forward, their lances striking true, driving back the Fae raiders who had surrounded her. The rooks provided cover, unleashing powerful defensive spells that shielded Luisa and her pawns from harm.

The battle raged on, a whirlwind of chaos and determination. Luisa's living chess pieces fought with unwavering loyalty, each fulfilling its role in the intricate dance of combat. The odds had shifted in her favor, and the greatsword-wielding raider found himself on the defensive, his bravado replaced by a growing unease.

Luisa's determination and the power of her unique magical treasure were a formidable combination. She pressed forward, refusing to yield to the threat that had once seemed insurmountable. Her goal was clear: to protect Minima and fulfill the duty entrusted to her by Captain Aliquem.

As the battle raged on, the forest bore witness to the clash of wills, courage, and magic. Luisa O'Sullivan, a guardian of her family's legacy and a beacon of hope, fought with a fierce resolve, unwavering in her commitment to accomplish her goals and ensure the safety of those who depended on her.
