In the 1980s, the artform of video games became commonplace with the introduction of the Nintendo superstar, Super Mario, and his escapades against both the fearsome Donkey Kong as well as his later nemesis King Bowser. Games became both art and entertainment, accepted alongside cinema as critiqued entertainment available for all ages and creeds.
In the year 2017 A.D., massively multiplayer online games became a haven for those who have gone without community to recreate their own with those hailing from all over the world leading with the introduction of virtual reality presence allowing players to quite literally drop in on their opponents through virtual space and compete in real time: Invade Players!
... However, even with the bright shining future of global community, all was not meant to last. As this space allowed others to interact, it also allowed those with sadistic spirits existing to destroy. A terrorist group known as BADCELL arose in the Summer of 2018, a virtual infection following in their wake that overtook the consciousness of those who delved deep into Invade Players and spread like a pandemic. The game, though shut down, caused destruction and creation of terror in the form of biological disease that shocked the system that no medical professional could happen to crack.
The year is now 2021, the threat of the Bad Cell Syndrome looming still overhead as sufferers still dread existence and the inevitable death they feel as they descend into permanent madness. ...However, with government assistance, researchers were placed together for one purpose: to create a way to cure BCS. Not only did they accomplish that...
... They had formed an association of brave souls to combat both the disease and the BADCELL terrorist division. They had created the Masked Player Association!
This roleplay will be, as expected from a tokusatsu series like Kamen Rider or Power Rangers, rather action based. However, in the same vein, I will be writing this story for you guys to something much more akin to a detective serial or a heist drama, similar to L.A. Noire, Lupin the III, and Persona 5.
There will be exactly nine spots for Masked Player characters, each themed after their respective Kamen Rider. Depending on who you decide to theme your character off, your powers will be rather limited to what they have within the original canon. (eg. the Brave equivalent only being able to use Taddle Quest gashat to transform into Brave, Genm equivalent being the only one able to use Dangerous Zombie.) However, you do not have to inherently be a Rider to be plot important as a character! We will need researchers, regular agents, and even minor characters involved to make this a fully fledged story!
However, I would like to stress, you do not require any knowledge of Kamen Rider as a franchise to join! It will be easy to understand, mechanics will be explained, and I assure you we will all have a wonderful time.
